I came here to have dermaplaning for my very first time with Joanna. I had met Joanna prior to this procedure once before and I follow her on Instagram. Umm..yeah you should too! She always has great skincare tips and keeps it real. Just a quick note for those wondering what dermaplaning is and why you should get it. Dermaplaning is an exfoliating procedure with a scalpel that scraps off dead skin and as a bonus take away peach fuzz. What does this mean? My makeup, SPF, and products can now penetrate better into my skin and look more even. Also, no downtime cost-efficient and quick. Anyway, before my appointment, it required me to get a quick consult with the medical doctor to get approved for the service and he delegated over to Joanna. Super easy there. Issac is AMAZING!!! I was going in for a microneedling and wax the day I left for a trip. I thought my skin was going to be all puffy and red like some/most places I've gone to before but I was "date ready" when I left. He uses an awesome combination for my skin type and NO REDNESS OR SWELLING! None. Now that my excitement for that is out of the way, I can go on to say that the staff is absolutely amazing! They are very accommodating with scheduling and making you feel comfortable. I was provided a nice little fan for my deep chemical peel. The rooms and waiting area (which I've never waited more than 5 minutes) are CLEAN, STERILE, and WELL KEPT Best safety practices are in place. Good parking. The estheticians were also able to provide a recommendation for my skin instead of trying to upsell me products in the lobby. They do have quality products and I went with the soothing skin roller. (PS: highly recommend - it stimulates my skin and blood flow after a long day or in the morning). Excellent communication between the staff and clients. They have great packages that offer discounts as well if you decide you want more than one session of chem peels, laser hair removal, tinting, waxing - THE WORKS! Wow! I almost am at a loss for words when it comes to this amazing this skin care clinic is. It is in a nice little area with plenty of parking which is wonderful. When you walk in you are always created by one of the staff with such a positive attitudes and warmth. they truly know how to make you feel like you are not being judged by your skin. I myself have some pretty bad acne and redness in my face, so I can tend to be pretty self-conscious about that. I have been seeing Mikayla for about three months now, she has been absolutely fantastic. I originally started going there to clear up my skin and get the redness down as much as we could before my wedding, and she really worked her magic. Because at that point I had only seen her three times and my make up artist at my wedding could even tell the difference in my skin. I've continued to go to her and I have significantly less breakouts, and the redness has gone down so much. One of my favorite parts about going to the skin care facility is that after every facial they explain to you thoroughly what they did and even what products they used. They don't try to force sell you anything. they just truly just want to educate you and if you do want to buy the product you can, or if you're like me and you're on a budget they always have alternatives that they can recommend to you as well. After being a client of Skin By Kay Leigh for 2 years now, its time I share my GREAT experiences. I purchased a Groupon 2 years ago to get microdermabrasion. After my series of microderm appointments, I got hydrodermabrasion (freakin lovely btw) and a chemical peel. I consulted with Kay Leigh to move on up in the tier of treatments and continue because I was loving the improvements I was seeing in my skin. I decided to buy the Bright & Tight package that offered 6 Laser treatments of YAG & IPL. Not only do the package prices save me money, but it ensures I'm continuing on my path to beautiful skin. I'll eventually try everything on the menu because I trust the estheticians here, the pricing is reasonable and the clean, beautiful and relaxing atmosphere of this place is comforting. I have seen such an improvement of the overall texture, reduced fine lines, reduced acne, more even skin tone, ALL THE GOOD STUFF. I have also had a couple facials by Mikayla which have been amazing and so relaxing, it kinda sucked to come back to the real world afterwards! I started going to Kay Leigh when she was located near Central Market on North Lamar. Now she has a really nice spot rented on Burnet. I used a Groupon at first for her microdermabrasion sessions and she has honored the price without having to go through Groupon, which makes sense since Groupon takes a big cut. I've listened to her advice and have started to do microneedling now as a way to heal my acne scars. I've seen improvements on my skin and she is very easy to talk to and personable. I also like that she's into Korean skincare so we talk about products we try! I'd definitely recommend going to her as her prices are fairly reasonable, especially if you buy them in bulk. The only thing that's a little inconvenient is that she's only available Wednesdays through Saturdays so book early on since the spots fill up quickly! read more

Really loved my experience with her. I bought a groupon for a series of 5 microdermabrasion sessions and it was sooooo worth it. I ended up coming back for more! Kay Leigh is incredibly down to earth and will give you amazing advice on your skin and address any areas of concern. She takes notes on your skin routine and follows up every appointment. My first microderm was about a year ago and it was my very first facial EVER. She made me feel comfortable and really talked me through the steps and what she was doing. I had pretty bad acne but now my skin is silky smooth! Each session is about 30 mins long so it's pretty quick (I always do it in between classes and work) with no down time. She also gives you her number and email in case you have questions or concerns post-facial. She's super easy to reach which is something I really like about her. She is located at Sola Salon on Burnet Rd which is home to a bunch of other services (mostly specializing in hair! I think there are a few other things there too). Parking is never a problem. My experience with Kay Leigh was extremely poor. I was advised to purchase 3 IPLs and a chemical peel for the hyperpigmentation on my face and my back respectively. I went for 2 IPLs, no difference. I communicated this Kay Leigh in person. I found her was very defensive to my concerns. She kept emphasizing that no results are guaranteed. Then I had a chemical peel on my back. 2 days after the procedure, no peeling. I texted Kay Leigh for advice and she told me to wait until day 5. I waited until day 5, still no peeling. I texted Kay Leigh again and she was defensive. She told me that no results are guaranteed and asked me to wait a few more days. So I waited... And guess what happened next? She cancelled my third IPL session that I book a month in advance and basically told me not to come back. Didn't bother to inform me through text. Text/in person had always been our form of communication. Let me make myself clear here, peeling is not a result I am looking for. Peeling is a process from a chemical peel that I paid for. I found that her passive aggressiveness is very concerning. She is not results driven as she claims she is. A big part of service industry is customer service, an area Kay leigh is clearly lacking. read more

I had my appointment with Kay Leigh, a facial and with an upper body massage after purchasing a voucher from Crowdsavings. I left feeling thoroughly relaxed. She's located on the left side of Central Market in the back of the Beauty Store. It doesn't come with the cushy spa ambience and free tea since it's more of a storefront with some beauty rooms in the back. I did especially like the massage bed because it had great support for your legs and back, and most of all, armrests! No more wondering awkwardly where you should position your arms. Just stick 'em on them armrests. Crisis diverted. She conducts her facials very fluidly. I did ask her for firm pressure, but her touch was very light, in a totally relaxing not-too-light way. When she applies the masks, it's almost like she's massaging your face with butterflies on unicorn's wings or something. The towels and steam were a little on the a little-too-warm side, but next time I'll ask for cooler towels. When I get massages during my facial, one of 2 things will happen. It feels like the aesthetician is just petting me and is genuinely afraid giving a massage that people can actually feel. As we learned in inception, you need to go deeper, please! Or, they're trying to practice their new death grip. Ouch :( Kay Leigh, on the other hand, gave a great, solid massage. It was not soul-crushing, and I could actual feel my muscles relaxing as she worked through them. All in all, it was the perfect facial-massage combo with a great value. After I got home, I bought 3 more vouchers and scheduled my appointment for next month. read more

Didnt tell me it was going to be worst, a month after the procedure. My face was in pain and all red. Worse facial ever and wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I visit her once a month for a microderm, and a facial and upper body massage. My skin has definitely improved from my visits with her, and the products she recommends have worked for me. I naturally have oily skin and the related problems associated with that. I also had some scarring from acne as a teenager. I've had a ton of microderms with Kay Leigh (close to 15?), thanks to the amazing deal she usually runs for a series of 5. I've had several kinds of microderm (crystal, diamond) with multiple aestheticians mostly in LA, and Kay Leigh is definitely the best I've had. She's the only person I've ever seen use different sized heads for different areas of your face (the normal-sized one plus a small one for the skin around your lips, eyes, fine lines, etc.). I had a facial with her and it was fabulous too. She has a very soft and delicate touch, and takes time and care with every step.
