My daughter and I were there on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere, awesome music, great staff. I didn't like how the refs make the slower skaters stay in the middle of the rink. It was so crowded, you had minimal space to skate and you were grabbed or bumped by other skaters as there is minimal to no room to skate. Never coming to skate express ever again. I very much will take myself to grand terrace where rules aren't stupid, where the skates actually stay on your feet, where the music is way better... I can go on. I went with some friends yesterday and I was not happy. Every skating place I have been to has allowed hats to be worn. But it's a "safety rule". Really? That's stupid.. if a hat falls off, go around the hat. I was told twice to not wear a hat. The music was terrible. Get someone who can actually pick music cause the music was all over the place. The DJ played some MJ song that I didn't even know of.. dude, play his greatest hits!!!! Or play a pop song from 2014 or 13... me being A DJ myself, KNOWS what people like, and not just pop! Your not allowed to have your phone on the rink.. WHO CARES!!! Everyone wants to take a selfie with a friend as they skate then let them do it.. have people go around them... it's not hard. If you guys are SO STRICT about rules... then why are the walls concert? That's a safety rule right? If a kids wants to go to the edge cause they can't slow down, what's to say they won't hit their head on the concert? That's not their fault right? You guys should have made your rink "safer". Why aren't the walls soft carpet like other places if you guys are so stupid about minor rules like hats and phones if you can't even make your skating walls safe. When I went their yesterday, all the workers seemed dead.. literally dead. No emotion... no excitement.... when I got my ticket, I got it from someone who didn't say "hi how are you guys doing today" with a smile.. It's a good place to hang out with friends and family. The staff members are very nice and willing to help you if needed. People respect each other and are nice to one another. All in all it a very good place to go if one is trying to have some fun and enjoy so time with family or friends. read more

Took my grandson here,he was very happy with this place. He loves to skate but only likes to skate when he's playing hockey because he feels the boys at school will make fun of him for just liking to skate but he didn't turn this place down when his dad and me dropped him off here. It was a great experience and that contributed to helping him get out of his shell and understanding that he needs to be himself and not care what people think of him.He really likes hockey and wants to pursue it for a long time and I do believe that this place helped him get over a stepping stone that he would have to reach at some point in his life and not be embarrassed by simply skating in a more feminine environment. Really fun place except that they have really trashy prizes when u win something!! Like I spent 135 or so tickets on a lipgloss that was less then half of the small tube and when I put it on it stung my lips and was just really nasty smelling like plastic. Also, the service isn't really nice. The vending machine took away my money and gave me a quarter in return, and then their candy machines don't have closed doors so whn u get candy it spills all over the place and onto the floor. The lady didnt wanna help me much and service was also super slow. My friend got a cotton candy and it took them like 20+ minutes to make it. The only thing I liked was that it was sorta fun skating and the guy said GOD bless u bad happy birthday to kids who's birthday was that day which I thought was nice! read more

It was my first time at a skate rink so I can't really compare it to any other skating rinks but I loved the activity . It is fast paced but they have an inner circle for beginners that lets you go slow and practice then work your way out to the outer circle. The staff weren't bad but there was this one lady when you check in that was super rude I can't believe she was working there. But besides that one lady everything was good and fun. Customer service can be a bit friendlier that's for sure. Especially the lady at check in she needs to improve her attitude asap. Also if you have your own skates bring them to save money and bring change cause the lockers only take quarters read more

Saturday regular. I came in tonight and the announcement was given that, the music was going to be changing. The R&B and Hip Hop music would be limited. As a 43 year old female I understand being mindful of young children, which is why the music played before 9:30pm was more kid friendly. But what i find most concerning is not allowing the request of the customers to be heard. Most of the regulars that come out to skate here already know the songs that the dj plays. I would respectfully request that management would reconsider the decision to regulate the kind of music the dj is allowed to play, keeping in mind the human beings are at different stages in their lives. We live different and similar lives and the type of music we listen to is an expression of that. Skating is so much more that putting on skates to roll around the rink mindlessly and aimlessly to music you don't care about. It's about having fun, find a beat and groove that make you want glide across the floor. It's finding the kind of music that makes coming out and spending $8.00 dollars or $25-30 dollars a week, worth it. I don't mind listening to One Direction, Jonas Brothers, etc. for the first part of the session, but being forced to listen to this all night long, would say to me as a consumer that you don't want my business, which is saddening. I came with my niece for a birthday party 2 years ago and i have been coming ever since. Saturday is my regular skate night, but if i can't listen to some of the music i like then i guess i will have to give my money to another rink. Believe me I have tried other rinks and there is no place like home. I used to come on Wednesday, but stopped because the dj places the same music over and over, each Wednesday its the same songs. I also do not like the talking between every other song and sometimes every song. I come out to skate and relieve stress, and have a good time, not to listen to the dj advertise the nights he dj's and not even advertise all of the things going on at Skate Express. I could not tell you what is going on throughout the week, but i know whats is going on every Friday. I know this supposed to be a review about Skate Express, but i don't know if i can honestly give you a good rating if you are changing the music style to exclude the urban community that lives around Skate Express. There clean version of most every song out there, and should be consider so that no one group of people are excluded from coming to Skate Express to have a good time. At the end of the day it is your business to run as you see fit, and it is our job as consumers to decide if we want to attend Skate Express sessions. My hope is that there is a middle ground we can all skate on together. I recently came to Skate express for a family outing and I parked my Porsche in the front of the rink near the opening. It was hit by another visitor and after being hit the visitor parked in a different parking spot and went into the rink. The staff there was so kind enough to page me to the front of the rink and inform me that my truck was hit and told me that the offender was still there at the time. Apparently, staff encouraged the offender to allow them to call me outside to exchange insurance information, the person(s) refused but still proceeded to visit. The staff did not have to inform me but did and because of that I was able to get a police report and press charges for the hit and run. I am still taking care of this matter and the offender is avoiding insurance and has an upcoming court date as well. But I do want to say thank you for going out of your way to protect your customers, as I am very appreciative. read more

My 10yr old loves to skate here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The style of the joint needs an update. Arcade needs help, get rid of the bumper cars since they're never used and its an eye sore. I use to go here back in the day and it had the same look. Lockers need to be replaced, they eat your money, but staff is on it to help. When its crowded, speed skaters need to be disciplined, some of them do these criss cross kick outs that are foolish when the floor is full. Music needs serious help mostly on Sat nights. Mind numbing rap is the style. No energy. Sun adult night is actually Rap, R&B , rollers on my Stacy Adams night. Its cool, but if you enjoy other styles of music don't go. Music is best on Fri nights, and daytime. However, beware the floor is full Fri nights and show boat speed skaters included. Of course I'd go back!! I love to skate, just bring my earbuds and iPod, everybody else does.!! read more

The place needs serious upgrading. One can smell the mold, musty air, even with air condition on high. The rink it self was large. A lot of room for those who would like to practice their turns n spins while keeping away from the rest of the crowd. They have two mini bowling lanes and a mini water bumper floats which i haven't seen anyone use. So i really cannot comment much about that. They have adequate amount of seats for observers or to just rest. Lockers are available. They have party room sections, which is great for bday parties. The snack bar needs updating. It looks like it has never upgraded since it opened for bznz. Now, for the most important part besides the rink, the restroom. This is based on women's restroom. Manager, please take note that if, anyone gets infection or slip for unkempt area. t wouldn't be surprising. This is age of technology, the person who inadvertently slips or what have you, may easily take picture of the scene and win the case. There's also a stench of old bathroom piping. Overall, not too bad for old fashion family fun. Wish could give more stars, but the musty air of the place and the restroom weighed heavily. read more

Horrible place, very dirty, has a odor and bathrooms and food our disgusting. They do not make their food fresh and use a heat lamp, DONT EVER plan a party here, for simple skating no problem, but for parties they will rip you off there delusional and think that their Disney Land with the prices. All your doing is skating in a circle, and they charge up to $400 dollars for 2 and a half ours for a event, which is not private. Good place for the kids fun,not a expensive place to go my daughter has fallen in love with skating she constantly asks when my girlfriend or mother and I will take her this comes from a girl who has many options of entertainment on the weekends to choose from. Hi the reason for this post it's not too make the owner or the skate rink look bad or feel bad in any way it is nearly to ask for changes to be made. The skating rink is really a pretty good place the service is pretty good. Of the music there is terrible. The detainees are not allowed to play R&B or hip hop music which is really an insult to all African American people who pay their hard-earned money to go there and enjoy themselves. We don't want to hear Britney Spears , MC Hammer, Run DMC and all the other Caucasian music the entire time we're there and every time with hair to skate. There are a lot of adults that come there during family time who wants to enjoy the sessions to. How can we enjoy this sessions when you don't play any music to our likings. It's not just for the children respect us and play music for us. Remember owner those children would not be able to come to your skate rink if we did not bring them and pay the fee for them to enter. What you don't want and this is not a threat but to let you know that a lot of the adults especially people who like R&B and hip hop music to stop coming. All we're asking is that you do better with your music and please please please cut out a lot of those freaking games on the skate floor. One or two is enough but five or six seven eight games interrupting our skate is ridiculous. Stop it. We are really set up with it. That is why you have Arcade Bowling Alleys etc for their entertainment. Please do better mister owner. This is a request not a demand. My family and I come here twice a week and we would like better music. Sometimes won't even stay for two sessions at a time .we are serious skaters and deserve good music. We don't complain about the prices that you charge or the times you open and the time that you allow for the prices that you charge. We would love to be able to have adult sessions at 10 a.m. during the weekdays and even on Sunday mornings. There are old schoolers who wouldn't love to have early sessions right after church without all the children maybe just the adult sessions you don't offer anything strictly for adults and adults like to skate they really enjoy skating. Some of us are Advanced skaters we would like our own sessions early in the morning when children are at school would be great for us 1011 that would be ideal. You would have a full house if you would widen your horizons and offer what people want not just what you want. Do you ever take the time to ask the customers what they want? Or even if they're happy with what services you're offering them? Try that for a change a business is no good without your customers. And if your customers are not satisfied you have no business. It's all about the customers. I am a customer my family are customers some of us are older we are Advanced skaters we enjoy skating and we would like to have morning sessions like other people do. They are old school is poor like to have 10 sessions 11 sessions during the week days when all the young children are at school and we would love to have R&B music that meets our age group. recently went for a birthday party, i havent been in a few years. even though im older i still had fun but i think they could do some different games for the kids. i remember the skating rink i used to go to growing up and they had such fun games, but these are just mediocre.
