This is a follow up of Sid's great service via telephone. Tonight, my circuit breaker tripped and my electronic stove panel was locked and it appears that the circuit panel tripped (Oh, my god). No electricity for Refrig, microwave and wall outlets. I tried so many things and nothing worked. I texted Sid at 7pm tonight and asked if he knew what to do. To make the long story short, he gave me great advice via text, and I shot him a picture of my panel while texting, and everything worked miraculously. My tenant contacted me the night before that the breaker popped and it's not resetting and had no power in the kitchen and the laundry room. I called Sid the following day. We had him do several jobs for us: installing two out door electrical outlets in out front yard and a garage door opener outlet (needed a new outlet for a roll garage door that had to be placed in a pretty tight space) and are very happy with his work and recommendations. He is knowledgeable and very well hooked into various vendors in Alameda. We recently got a quote from him to replace our main electric panel to a 200 amp so we can add air conditioning. I have since used Sid & Co. for my business upgrades. What we first though to be a simple upgrade of a few lights, switches and outlets turn out to be much more involved as the previous somehow approved work was clearly not done correctly. 2/3 of these approved "upgrades" were still running on knob 'n tubes = there was a good deal of extra work to be done before this work could be approved. They took it in stride and delivered. Yes, there was extra cost due to the extend of the extra work, but that was only fair for knowing that everything is working and up to code. read more

I'll cut to the chase. Hire Sid. His work is top quality, and he's an awesome guy to know. He's fast, professional, and comes at a great price. He and John went above and beyond what I asked for, even taking initiative and offering me an additional exterior light (with motion sensor) above the back door. I talked to TEC and Dave Massay, and both suggested unnecessarily complicated procedures which would have been expensive and disruptive. Sid updated all my 1940s two-prong outlets through my entire home without requiring me to do a major panel upgrade. Sid also introduced me to some other great local contractors that I worked with for my kitchen remodel. All excellent. First off, let me start by saying Sid is a wealth of knowledge! He is like a walking google search engine for electrical stuff. I was able to ask him all sorts of questions and he never made me feel dumb. In addition to all this knowledge, he and his crew are a ton of fun. They love cracking jokes but are still very professional. My house could have been labeled an electrical death trap before Sid and crew got ahold of it. There were wire splices in the walls, exposed wires behind the shower, and no subpanel in the garage. Sid tackled every single problem with ease and speed. Clearly this guy has seen it all! When I called Sid, I told him I wanted to get my place ready to rent out ASAP. he was able to squeeze me in a week later. He came the day he said he would and even showed up a little early. Had an issue of a GFCI outlet that kept tripping. The outlet was in a bathroom, but it affected power in the garage. I had a problem with the bathroom lights in a rental property and hired a well-reviewed local electrician to fix it. After spending four hours and charging me over $400, he advised me to"call another electrician." I called SJN, and Sid promptly returned my call. He and his associate arrived exactly on time the next morning, (amazing in itself) and within an hour they ran new wire to the fixture, installed a new junction box, and fixed the problem. I mean I have to update my review of this guy!!!! They dont make people like this anymore. So one of my GFCI outlets wasn't working and I wanted to get it fixed right away because it was in the kitchen (a area of high activity) so I tried to fix it and ran into issues. I give Sid a call to just try and have him do it (I'd given up) -- instead of letting me give up, this guy talked me through the process over the phone for half an hour. Then I screwed up the project even more by breaking the ground wire. Again Sid asked me to come over and he gave me a new wire with instructions on how to get the darn thing working again.
