Half Grilled Chicken with rice, pita, hummus, and garlic dip
    Diane T.

I had lunch here about a month ago (mid-week, 1-1:30-ish). I perused the menu and decided on the Half Grilled Chicken Plate (a half marinated chicken cooked rotisserie style and then finished to perfection on the grill. Served with garlic dip.) It also came with rice, salad, hummus, and pita. It was a (very) sizable meal and tasty. I was expecting a little more Middle Eastern spice on the chicken, but it was fall-off-the-bone tender and tasty nonetheless. I'm not sure how they 'finish it on the grill', but I guess I was expecting crispy skin and some char that wasn't there. Again, it was tasty so this really isn't a complaint as much as an observation. The rice, garlic dip, hummus, salad, and pita were very good! The restaurant is a bit spare and could use a bit of atmosphere, but it was fine for lunch and was clean. My server was a bit reserved, but still friendly and answered my questions. All-in-all, I plan to come back and try some of their other offerings!

Tend to come here when the craving for middle eastern food hits and their food + service never disappoints. Highly highly recommend if you're looking for a satisfying meal!

If you are passionate about Yelping, it's always a privilege to be able to be the first several people to utilize a new business which needs input from people. This new Mediterranean/Syrian restaurant which has been operating (officially) for only two days, I was able to stop by and experience their service/food/ambiance on a sizzling early summer day on June 22, 2025. This echoes their restaurant name so perfectly, right?? Upon arrival and the moment I stepped in, this young lady upfront was smiling and welcomed me with a question, "Is this for here or to go?" She wasted no time! Before arriving, I perused their menu on their website (yes, their website is up and running) and set my eye on a few items. And of course, they were on the physical menu booklet as well so I asked for that. And they are/were, 1) Spinach Sambousek (5pc) and 2) Appetizer Sampler Plate. Whereas I was able to order the first item, I could not order the second one. The young lady (even after inquiring about it to the person in the kitchen) said the appetizer sampler thing wasn't still in their system so she kindly asked me to order another one. Ugh! Bummer....(I was so looking forward to getting me this plate so I was a bit disappointed with the situation.) I thus went with the Falafel plate which I found it under the Lunch Special section. Yup, this was kind of understandable for a business that's been open only for a few days. I took this as a soft opening phase??? The inside of the restaurant didn't have much and yet it was very clean. This is also understandable for a brand-new restaurant. I am pretty sure they will gradually start decorating the interior in the coming days/weeks. The young lady kindly offered me a complimentary baklava (which she's been doing that to all people who come in and dine or take out.) What a kind gesture! At home, I took a bite into the Sambousek and the Falafel. Sambousek is deep-fried but not greasy with oil. Very light almost like a samosa or sambuusa type dish. The Falafels are/were seasoned with some interesting spice which I couldn't make of. I quite fancy whatever the spice they put into them. Well, in conclusion, this new restaurant that took over the poke place sure is a new addition within my close vicinity. My hope is that by the time many notice them, their menu items are fully available. As much as the lady is/was so pleasant to me, people will have no problem with the "service" part they offer. P.S. When I was at the restaurant, there was an older couple dining in the warm dining area (not sure if they run AC at all; it sure was very warm inside). At the end of their meal, the lady walked up to the front and gave the young lady a commendation for the soup they consumed as they liked it very much. The next time I utilize them, I will definitely inquire about the soup along with the Appetizer Platter thing I couldn't buy today.

This small neighborhood Syrian restaurant was fantastic from the service to the presentation. We stared with the cucumber salad that had a light zesty dressing that had a lemony flavor. Next came the dips. These were both so creamy and airy. The hummus took me back to when a friends mom made fresh hummus and it was so creamy and full flavored with a good balance of tahini and chickpeas. The garlic dip was extra fluffy and had a great balance of garlic. It wasn't overwhelming like at other places. The meat platter was huge! This could have easily fed 4-5 people. The rice was flavored with cloves and was perfectly cooked. There were beef kabobs, chicken and beef skewers with veggies and lots of onions with parsley, lemon and seasoning. These combined were all complimented by the fluffiest pita I have had. We ordered pita to take home because it was so good. Thank you for this amazing meal.

Excellent middle eastern food! Wow what a surprise tucked away in a little strip mall on Colorado blvd. The service was excellent! The restaurant is large with ample seats, so it's perfect for big gatherings! The food arrived in 15 mins of ordering. We ordered the king combo (see pics), and a side of fries! Delicious food! Will be returning. Check them out if you're in the area.

My fiance and I tried this place for dinner tonight and we were so impressed! I ordered the beef kofta and my fiance ordered the lamb kebab. The hummus was creamy and delicious, and the both the lamb and the kofta were juicy and perfectly cooked. The young man who took care of us was very attentive, and was generous to give me a baklava for free. Definitely coming back! Great food, great service. Shukran!

We got the Syrian meat combo for two and wow - this hit the spot! The presentation was beautiful, the staff was so kind, and the moment the food hit the table, the smells alone had us in a trance. Every single thing on that platter was a 10/10...perfectly seasoned, juicy, and full of flavor. Easily one of the best Mediterranean meals we've ever had. Sizzle has become a new favorite and we definitely will be back

I did wish there was something to break up all of the grittiness. The flatbread that it was served on was pillowy soft, an amazing to bite into. I think I could give them another chance. I just think ultimately the Syrian pizza was not for me.

Mashawi was okay, but not what we would expect from our experience with Mediterranean restaurants. Of the dozens of Mediterranean restaurants we have eaten, the food at Mashawi had the least flavor. I ordered the gyro, which was small and bland though the meat was lamb. Lamb usually tends to have more flavor than other meats. The lavash overpowered the gyro due to the lack of other ingredients. My wife ordered the house salad and a side of falafel. The salad by itself was a disappointment. She had to dress up the salad to make it flavorful. The tahini sauce which was the sauce for the falafel was watery. I even poured some on my gyro and it added nothing. I did add a star for the service which was excellent. Our server (I believe she was the owner) was pleasant, but the food... I can't recommend Mashawi.

The restaurant decor was simple with couches & beautiful jeweled chandeliers plus traditional music played in the background. Note, plenty of free parking was available as this place is located in a strip mall. I ordered the Beef Kabob Plate that came on a delicious bed of yellow rice. The beef had been marinated in a yummy marinade then perfectly grilled with two dipping sauces. Wow, this was super flavorful. In addition, there was a small salad with a wonderful spice dressing. On the side was warm Pita Bread & some of the best Hummus I've had in a long time. What a memorable meal...I'm looking forward to trying some of their other dishes.

The bartenders and waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and professional. If I were rating only those things, this would be an easy 5 stars. Then the yellow rice arrived cold and crusty. We sent it back. It came back slightly improved but still not properly hot. After a few bites, we found a piece of plastic in it. The half chicken was a mixed bag. The crispy skin was delicious and well seasoned, but the chicken itself was served only lukewarm. Some pieces were moist and enjoyable, while others, especially toward the end, were noticeably dry. It wasn't bad, but had I known it would be served that way, I probably would have ordered something else. The kitchen issues alone would have dropped this to 4 stars. What pushed it down to 3 stars was the billing. A 20% service charge had already been added, yet the payment process still encouraged an additional tip. If you're not paying close attention, it's very easy to leave 40% on an already expensive meal. Whether intentional or not, it feels confusing and misleading. Even if it's disclosed somewhere on the menu, that doesn't make it customer friendly. Customers should not have to do math or hunt through fine print like a budget airlines to figure out what their meal actually costs. Build your labor costs into the menu price and be transparent. Surprise fees create frustration and leave customers feeling misled, regardless of how many disclaimers are printed. To their credit, they removed a couple of drinks from the bill, and I want to be clear that the staff handled the situation professionally. The problem was not the servers. The problem was a kitchen that missed the mark and a shady billing practice that leaves customers with a bad taste in their mouth at the end of the meal. Great hummus. Great pita. Great cocktails. Great service. Cold rice. Plastic in the food. A chicken dish that didn't quite live up to the hype. Confusing service fees. That's how a restaurant that could have been 5 stars ends up with 3.
