They really give you the royal treatment as they offer you tea and start to pamper you by asking which line you're interested in and proceeding to gently apply the products to your hands over their lovely fountain like sink. While we didn't purchase anything, I will definitely be looking in to the Rind hand lotion, which I tested yesterday. It's an uplifting fruity citrus scented cream/lotion that smells exactly like orange and lemons in the most natural way and is not at all greasy. I'm sure my friend will purchase the Eleos hand/body cleanser in the very near future. Because of the lovely experience here yesterday, I will certainly delve further into my research of this line. I will say that so far I am loving what I'm seeing.

You learn something everyday, my fellow Yelpers. Grace was thorough, yet gentle. She used a violet-hued wax and informed me that as it was organic it'd cause less discomfort than the typical salon wax. She was right about it hurting less & there wasn't any lingering redness. The soothing cream used didn't irritate my freshly waxed underarms & the elevator music playing in the background distracted me from the yank-yanking sounds of unsightly body hair being pulled away. Oceanlab Spa is open 7 days a week and besides waxing, they offers skincare and massage therapy. Combo packages are available & Grace suggested calling ahead to make sure she was there for my next visit.

I had to squish my neck to fit. They have you change into shorts and a shirt they provide, but the shorts are only available in a size medium so they had nothing for me to wear. The massage was not good, the person kept on plastic gloves that irritated my skin and was largely just pinching my skin. I asked to end the massage after 30m because I was genuinely in pain from the pinching and my skin was red with irritation from the plastic. The scalp treatment was unfortunately similarly bad. The table you lay on for the scalp treatment is very short, so that I could not lay down fully without my feet pressing into the wall. I kept trying to contort my body to find a more comfortable position, but I was not able. I had to end the treatment after just the shampoo. My hair was left in a huge tangle of knots because the way they shampoo puts the hair into sort of a rats nest. I had to repeatedly ask to stop the treatment before they would rinse my hair and let me up. Despite neither 60m service being completed, they still wanted me to pay almost full price. The woman at the desk felt so bad that the manager asked me to pay that she offered to pay out of pocket herself. That was so nice of her, but reflects very poorly on the manager and spa. Employees should not be put out that way. I would say if you are shorter perhaps this place can work better for you. If you are tall, do not bother. Seems that the therapist you get also makes a difference. I would not recommend.

Waiting area very clean and comfortable, spa like music playing in the background. I came here before about 8 years or so, things looked a little different but for the better. Yuni was my masseuse. Very petite and polite woman but man is she strong! She lead me to our room in the basement (I read another review that said it was cold and dark, not sure if that was 49th St.). Room was very comfortable and music softly playing in the background (review said that music was pumped/loud). She stated with a dry massage, with the blanket, and went into the official oil massage. Yuni definitely knows what she is doing because I didn't need to tell her about my problem spots she hit them right away! I was surprised at her strength and she literally almost had me so relaxed, I could have drooled while on the table. She did full back, legs, hips and arms. She didn't have me flip over but I got exactly what I needed so I felt no way about that. When she was done, she thanked me and I proceeded to get dressed and be on my way. Paid cash and left tip with the cashier and left feeling so relaxed. Convinced that this will be a monthly occurrence for me as it is so close to work and cost effective. Great job Snowflakes!

After having been to spas all over the city for facials I am happy to commend madison spa (Irina) to be a great revelation. Here's what my first facial was like: The place is tucked in between streets on Madison Avenue. It's got nice treatment rooms. Irina (she did my facial) definitely knows what goes into keeping skin relaxed and happy. I went in with slightly blotchy skin and acne scars. She analysed my skin before making suggestions as to what kind of a facial was best suited for me. She was honest about my skin and how I could treat it better. Also not once during the two hour facial, did she push any product endorsement on me (big plus). Irina then proceeded to treat my skin for two hours (including treatment time for face packs). My facial included a mini micro derm, an oxygen facial and extractions. She was very thorough without pinching my skin. The best part about this facial was that the next day my skin was actually not red or more blotchy than usual. I received my fair share of compliments over the next few days as my skin looked rested and happy. I would love to go back there and see how this feels after 3-4 facials. Definitely recommend.

It felt kinda shady and I didn't feel very welcome. My girlfriend and I were showed our room and told that we would take turns learning to massage each other for an hour with a masseuse. Our instructor was very kind and surprisingly funny but the level of difficulty of the lesson was extremely low. He showed us the simplest hand movements and he even agreed that we could go on YouTube for everything these days. Plus, our masseuse kinda smelt bad. I truly don't mean to be rude but you would expect to be relaxed in a spa. Following our lesson, we were instructed to meet the woman at the counter. She immediately told us that we owed cash for tips/taxes. I told her that I only had $5 in cash but that I had a debit card. She responded, "I told you on the phone to bring enough cash". I quickly told her that she was mistaken and that I was informed only to call a day in advance to confirm my appointment. She rudely sighed, took my $5, and sarcastically asked us, "what am I supposed to do then? Tip him myself?". My girlfriend and I exchanges shocked glances and awkwardly left the spa.
