Thai Senses was just down the street from my hotel so it was very convenient. I was able to book a massage online through their website. I don't know all the various styles of massage, but the descriptions on the website steered me to a Thai-Yoga combo massage. Booking was easy, but right after they called and asked if I could move up a half hour earlier to accommodate their schedule. Wasn't a problem for me so I agreed. The spa is in a little high-rise building sandwiched between taller ones. I walked right past it, but then I saw the address numbers and walked back, counting down, and there it was. Inside was a little hallway with a security guard in front of the elevator (made me think of the Men In Black movie!). He was friendly, asked if I had an appointment, and then made me sign an In/Out list with my name and where I was going. Not a problem, I understand the need for security. When I got up to the spa, they were already expecting me. The staff were professional and courteous. I left my shoes at the door and was shown into a room right away. The room was warm with quiet music playing. It was clean and smelled nice. The therapist did a wonderful job with my massage. Ask for Mona - she was fantastic! It was over all too soon - I got an hour, but I should have scheduled a longer one. I can't speak to how their prices compare with other spas, but I was very satisfied with what I paid for the massage I got. They hit me up for the gratuity on my way out the door. I rode the elevator back down, signed out of the guard's log book, and I was back out on the street. A very positive experience overall. I was just passing through so I may never return, but if I am ever in NYC again I would not hesitate to go back.

We arrived early for our massage and they were able to take us right back. I liked that we were able to fill out the diagram to show where we preferred they concentrate the massage and where we wanted them to avoid. The masseuse confirmed when he walked in and then showed me the timer for 60 min before beginning. The ambiance was perfect and we both enjoyed our massages. They even had a bathroom with a shower and robes/slippers for us to use after we were finished. It's a step above your no frills massage parlor! I would definitely recommend going here for a quality massage!

The people working there are very friendly. It's a little difficult to find since the sign on the door is very small. You also have to climb a set of steps so not handicap accessible. May was my masseuse and she was excellent. I do wish she had asked me where I wanted her to focus on, but she ended up spending a long time on each area of my body so that didn't matter so much. She took my feedback well when I asked her to apply a little less pressure as well. My recommendation would be to have the room a little warmer especially during the colder months and play smoothing relaxing music for guests. Otherwise, I would definitely return!

The massage rooms are downstairs and once you check in, they bring you there and give you a moment to take off your clothes. The masseuse asked me if the pressure was too hard or soft so I appreciate the attentiveness. Cleanliness is huge for me and the spa was very clean! Afterword one hour massage was over, we went back upstairs and were given some tea as a part of our package (we purchased it via Groupon). I want to come back here and experience the Rose room at a different time, but now that I am familiar with this place I feel very happy and will be returning Customer. Tips-- -Bathroom is on the first floor -If you have trouble with stairs, not too sure if this place is for you unless the owner responds and says otherwise. I didn't see an alternate way to go down the stairs. -I called to make a reservation and when I called they asked me if I purchased through Groupon yet, I had said no, and they said they would honor the Groupon price. That was cool with me, but when I went in with additional taxes and such it ended being more than Groupon's offer so I purchased with Groupon instead and canceled the appointment I made (this was weeks in advance so I didn't do any last minute changes, that would be unfair). Why 4 Stars? -- I came across a tricky payment situation that I wasn't pleased with, but it wasn't the *worst* situation I've come across. -There is a $10 sanitation fee and it is per person. This gets tricky because the website says $5 per person (I have the screenshot to prove it) but they still charged me $10 per person. Ultimately I have MUCH better things to say than anything, but I am big on keeping it honest out here. Even if it's just $10, still worth keeping accountable. None of this is to discredit the massage therapist, they are wonderful and deserve the best. Always tip on the original price of the service not the Groupon discounted cost!
