It ended up being one of my favorite stops in the city, and I really look forward to coming back soon. It's an easy one to get to on a walk in the area. It feels like a cafe or coffee roaster, so modern and clean, but with a clear love of everything chocolate. I'm told on the weekends it gets super busy thanks to their menu of chocolate infused everything including coffees and teas. On the left to the inside is their full range of bars, which includes a placard with the location of the cacao and tasting notes. There are also free samples of everything, and the servers can help you with questions. They even have little tasting sheets for notes if you want to get serious and remember for future visits. They have a few tables and bar seating at the front, with more bar seating along the back right leading to the clean restrooms. Here you'll also find educational displays about chocolate and viewing windows to the roasting and processing rooms. Even though it was afternoon, it was so much fun to order things with caffeine just for the sheer joy of it. We had the chocolate milk, I had a chocolate infused black tea, we shared a special new bar, and were given their signature tiny cookies. Prices are reasonable for the quality, both the drinks and the bar. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, they clearly love the place as much as we do.

I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. His tone and demeanor came across as annoyed rather than helpful. I later brought the interaction to the attention of the supervisor, Andrew, hoping the situation could simply be clarified. Unfortunately, his response also came across as irritated and dismissive. I explained that I had specifically asked whether chocolate sauce came on the sundae, and when I asked for some to be added, I was told that it was already on there. After eating the sundae, I did not notice any chocolate sauce. Whether it had been added or not was honestly less important to me than the way the situation was handled. Something as simple as asking for chocolate sauce should not feel like an argument or an inconvenience. The one redeeming part of the service was Jose. He came over to our table, politely asked if we were enjoying the ice cream, and happily cleaned our table. His demeanor was genuinely kind, welcoming, and professional, and it was greatly appreciated. The banana split was excellent, and the quality of the ice cream is still something I would recommend. Elegant and Easy... perfectly San Francisco! This stunning, unique dessert bar reminds me of a time not so long ago when specialty shops were in every neighborhood. I appreciate how each bite is balanced in flavor and texture. I love tasting each case, trying new things... there's never a dull moment. (They put pics of the latest up on their Facebook page.) The wickedly talented chef-owners are delightful to watch creating the most beautiful menu on earth. It's fun to stay and enjoy the atmosphere, a chill respite in the urban Mission energy. Their eco-friendly packaging is so cute and easy to take along to wherever I'm going--dinner parties, restaurants, quiet night in... I bought a luxurious full-size chocolate hazelnut mousse cake for my birthday party in April. Amazing. --The gelato pops blow my mind on the spot every time. It's the perfect amount of heavenly bliss on a stick. The flavor combinations are out of this world. If I'm staying for a while I'll savor a semifreddo, I can't resist! --I've given their chocolates as gifts several times and they are always a huge hit. My favs: ALL of the infused Caramels, the dark Vindaloo Curry, the Honey Fennel Pollen, Bourbon Maple Pecan, Raspberry Cosmo and the Rose truffles. If there are cookies on the counter get them, they go fast. Yum! and... How'd you do that? --The pastry case is the best. I just can't stop staring! The artistry! If you're visual like me and you love to please your palate, Sixth Course is where it's at, hands down. I recently found a list in my journal from when I was 17 yrs old of the "Ten Most Important Things in My Life" and yes, chocolate was on that list! I've always been a chocolate lover but these chefs have taught me to love fresh, fruity desserts, too! They are always perfectly balanced, not-too-sweet, juicy and just right! I'm also impressed with their dedication to using local, organic ingredients and sustainable packaging and being good ol' caring San Franciscans! It's no wonder they've won so many awards and are getting great press right now! read more

The shop itself is tastefully decorated but doesn't have much in terms of seating space. It makes sense because the desserts offered are artisan and small in size.
