The staff is aways super friendly and happy to educate you about their products. Also note there are other Dandelion stores in SF with actual places to sit. While I think everything here is quite nice, the highlights are the hot drinking chocolate. Perfect, rich and great for a cold day. The other highlight is the bars. Simple, dark chocolate bars made from milk, sugar and coco each bar features a unique set of flavors. You can really see how the bean and the processing affects the taste. One of my personal favorite gifts are the bars that are from the same bean but processed in two different ways (japan and SF). You can really taste how the bars differ. My personal fav chocolate truffles. Came to get a box for my mom and noticed the shelf was empty for the one we wanted. I asked at employee if they were out and they said "yeah there's more in the back" then ended the conversation. So I followed up by saying "oh so you have more?" and they said "yeah" so I said "could I get one then?". I feel like it's common sense to offer a box if someone's having that conversation with you, and they were NOT friendly. We finally got a box then checked out. Checked the receipt 20 minutes later to see that they charged us for an item we did not discuss, touch, or purchase. Came back for a refund because we were fortunately still in the ferry building. Dandelion Chocolate just doesn't make your run of the mill powdered chocolate, they infuse their specialty chocolates (that they also sell in store) into this delicious and cozy concoction. They top it off with what I assumed is a in-house made marshmallow that sweetens your drink just right. It's absolutely exquisite. Now that's just their famous house hot chocolate, if you're ready to spice things up (def pun intended) you may want to get the mission hot chocolate instead. It's literally the house hot chocolate with a sprinkle of spice as you see in my photo. It also comes with a cute little cookie with every order! I was a huge fan of the house chocolate but the mission blew my mind yesterday. 10/10 recommend. Last but not least if you are feeling a bit sweeter today, then may I recommend their brownie as well? Even though Dandelion is known for its fancy chocolates, don't sleep on the hot chocolate! I keep coming back for the Mission Hot Chocolate, it's insanely rich, velvety, and spiced just right. It's got that deep nutty cacao flavor with a subtle warmth from the spice that makes it feel super comforting, and definitely not too sweet. Don't skip the cubed marshmallow either, it's soft, pillowy, and perfectly melts into the drink. It even comes with a tiny cookie tucked into a little compartment on the to go cup, such a fun and thoughtful detail. Even on a busy weekends, service was quick and friendly. This was my first time in the ferry building! It reminds me of a smaller version of the Anaheim packing district mixed in with some local vendors selling other merchandise aside from food. Dandelion chocolate is one of the small shops inside; and boy was this hot chocolate REALLYYYY GOOD. It's not a typical milky or watery hot beverage; I can actually taste a stronger flavor of chocolate. I recommend adding the marshmallow in the cup, I won't go out of my way to buy hot chocolate, but my coworkers recommended me this spot. The packaging and presentation are beautiful, and their chocolates are decadently rich. We recently visited their location in the Ferry Building. Friends took home a few chocolate bars. I purchased a few of their enormous and beautiful, freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies. YUM! They have 5 or 6 locations in SF, and one in Vegas. They have chocolate bars, vials of hot chocolate mix and chocolate drinks as well! Everything looks so aesthetic and delicious! I've tried their European hot chocolate and it was very rich and thick. It tasted good but the drink was too thick for me. It's almost like you are drinking a liquid creamy dark chocolate bar lol I am so happy I finally got to try the frozen hot chocolate. I usually come here on a Saturday and it's sold out! I prefer the frozen hot chocolate because it's not too sweet and not thick because it's blended with ice. While pregnant I was always on the hunt for the perfect hot chocolate. My husband and I even did a hot chocolate crawl throughout the East Bay with a rating system of different core elements we were looking for in the perfect cup. I must say as soon as I thought I was going to throw in the towel, I found what I had been searching for my entire pregnancy and it wasn't in the form of a hot chocolate, rather in the form of a "frozen" hot chocolate. With "cocoa nib" whipped cream, this is, and was, everything. In my honest opinion, the best in the bay! To be fair, we did try the house hot chocolate as well to check it off our box ~ creamy yet smooth, rich but not too sweet, robust but not complex. Ahhh, I can taste it now! I tried this at the Ferry Building grab and go location..with the holidays coming up, I can't wait to get back there to keep a new tradition going. I love that they encourage customers to taste their chocolate samples and provide hardstock discovery cards to jot down notes of different flavors. My favorite item recommended by a staff member was the Black Sesame Seed Toffee Brittle. This item is simply divine (5/5); the dark chocolate bark has a nice crisp snap, well balanced sweetness, and dark toffee bits to provide a unique and equally addictive treat. Sometimes I like to take the ferry from the East Bay into SF just to hang out at the ferry building. On one of these occasions, I found myself exploring the various shops in the building and came across Dandelion. The sole worker there offered me a sample of chocolate and I eventually decided to grab a drink. I'm going to be real, the house hot chocolate is probably top three hot chocolates in the Bay Area for me. It's so cute because it comes with a cookie in a pocket of the drink sleeve. The flavor was rich and it was also creamy. As colder weather approaches, I highly encourage anyone in the area to try that bad boy out and catch a view of the Bay right outside. Decided to check this place out to get souvenir from SF. I know it says one $ sign, I would say this is more like $$-$$$ sign given the price. I got the truffle collection which has 15 truffles for $60. The chocolates were great but not the best I have had compared to others in this price range. They offer drinks and I got the house hot chocolate with marshmallow. It was good! It's not the bittersweet or sweet kind of hot chocolate you taste. It's more satisfying to drink the more you sip. The shell showed none of the hardness or deep caramelization that define a classic canelé, and interior lacked the custard-like consistency one would expect.
