Chocolates

This was our first Dandelion Chocolate experience in their new Downtown location on Powell. A bright, modern space with many packaged chocolates, truffles, s'mores kit, hot chocolate mix etc. We were introduced to brand as locally made dark chocolates with organic cane sugar. We picked up a few items, got to sample their black sesame toffee and wildflower honeycomb. The taste is so luxurious, a bit of nutty and spongy for the honeycomb. Come treat yourself to some locally made goodness!

I came in about an hour before closing and got the medium rectangular gift box as a Valentine's Day…read moregift. I really like that you can choose exactly how many of each flavor you want in your box. I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. I chose orange, citron/lemon, caramel, earl grey, espresso, raspberry, and hazelnut. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. He took the time to neatly tie up the box and even gave me two complimentary pieces. The shop itself is tiny and charming with a good variety of flavors. A friend of mine has been coming here since childhood, and now I understand the hype. I'll definitely be back.

I got an espresso, a honey vodka, and an earl grey. The earl grey was my favorite, as it tasted like I dipped a brownie in earl grey tea (in a good way) Logistics: - A few indoor and outdoor tables - Limited street parking nearby

Sophie at this location is a gem. Yes, she's knowledgeable, but more than that, she's genuinely kind and personable in a way that's increasingly rare. There's an intangible warmth to her that turns a quick visit into a moment worth remembering. All around fantastic experience today for my first stop at this location. One suggestion: I really wish they would offer frozen fruit smoothies here -maybe a super simplified version of their café offerings. It would do incredibly well. There's a clear market gap in the area with tons of foot traffic, and it would put something tangible in customers' hands to sip on while they walk around, keeping the unique chocolate experience that's offered at Dandelion at the forefront of the mind. The first time I visited this location, they were not yet offering tastings, (and the gal behind the counter was not very friendly nor feel approachable). This visit however, they were super nice & friendly, and they had samples. We left with some chocolate bars which we knew exactly what they tasted like. Of course, if you can, visit their bigger location in the Mission, where they have food and beverages on the menu. But if you're in PacHeights area, stop in to taste and pick up some delicious chocolates.
