Glad to be back ..the pecan sandies are fun delectable ..tried the hot chocolate ..fun I want to come back

They basically do one thing but they do it very well. I had an earl grey tea and a champagne chocolate as a little treat. Both were incredible. Was it a little pricey? Sure, but it was a treat.

Came here to try the seasonal drinking chocolate and was not disappointed! Unfortunately they were out of peppermint but the molasses had a nice gingerbread flavor and the hazelnut had a rich chocolately flavor and consistency. It's quite rich, to the point where I couldn't finish my drink! The bonbons are *reasonably* pricey but are like edible delicious art! I loved the passion fruit filled chocolate.

Amazing spot for a hot chocolate! There are different options for both the base and add-on flavors. The dark chocolate really shines in the drink and the opted hazelnut praline flavor paired very well! The whipped cream holds in the drink, doesn't just dissolve and the shaved chocolate on top is a nice touch!

Let the holiday festivities begin! I recruited more friends to come with me this year to my annual Christopher Elbow visit. While deciding what to order, we received samples of Vietnamese cinnamon chocolate, but we really came for the drinking chocolates. Each dessert drink is 8 oz with a choice of water, milk, or oat milk for the base and marshmallow or whipped cream for the topping. It doesn't seem like a lot volume-wise, but because it's quite rich, it's more than enough. There is also an option to split the drink into two cups, each with their own topping. I LOVED my pumpkin spice drinking chocolate with oat milk; the pumpkin spice was not overwhelming nor artificial tasting. The seasonal spiced molasses with brown butter was also absolutely delectable. I sampled some of my friend's extra dark (85%), which was the least sweet out of all the options, and hazelnut, which was nice and subtle. I'm not a white chocolate person because it's too sweet for me, but I can appreciate the white cinnamon drinking chocolate. Christopher Elbow is now part of my holiday tradition as long as I live in SF. I'll be back!

Christopher Elbow Chocolates is a cute and clean shop with very friendly staff who'll provide flavor recommendations. The chocolates are beautiful, delicate, and intricate. If you're only buying for yourself and not as a gift (not in a nice gift box), it's recommended to buy individually since the gift box costs extra. Flavors are great and distinguishable. There's limited seating inside for you to enjoy your chocolates or drinks. It's worth a visit if you're in the area, to treat yourself or to gift.

I had heard of Christopher Elbow Chocolates but never had the chance to try their chocolate. Since it was a chilly afternoon, it was the perfect weather for hot chocolate. Two friendly employees greeted me and explained their offerings. I ordered the Passion Fruit Drinking Chocolate with milk and whipped marshmallow ($6.50 + tax): +Dark chocolate and passion fruit made for a creamy rich drinking chocolate with pops of tartness from the passion fruit. +Whipped marshmallow was soft, fluffy, and not too sweet. -Passion fruit shavings tasted more like passion fruit chocolate as opposed to actually passion fruit. Side notes: 1.) Self-serve napkins and spoons 2.) Restrooms available for customers. 3.) Walking distance from Van Ness Station *Verdict: This was the best hot chocolate I've ever had! In addition, I enjoyed lounging in the seating area while reading a magazine from their collection. With some many flavors, I'd love to come back to try more!

The service was great and the workers there are always so welcoming. I shared a Cocoa Noir Hot Chocolate with a friend, as they mentioned it can be quite heavy and rich. For someone who doesn't enjoy dark chocolate much, this was a bit hard to drink. It tasted like a huge cup of melted chocolate and the bitterness was quite strong. Quality was amazing, but definitely not for everyone. I wish they had a slightly sweeter and creamier option. Overall, I would recommend for people who loves the bitterness of dark chocolate.

Ahhh! Many Signature Darks to choose from!!

I could never stop thinking about having cacao straight from Ecuador! The dark chocolate of its true origin was what I indulge the most! Divine, guilt-free decadence will always be found in my heart, with little or no sugar. Here in Christopher Elbow Chocolate of Hayes Valley, the menu in front of the cashier was what caught my eye. Not only were they have fruity concoctions in every drinking chocolate, there's also few different single origin ones, ranging from Belize to Dominican Republic. I would definitely like to go for a much darker chocolate blended from different countries. Til then, I only go for single origin every time I visit. No milk, just water. No additional sweetener. And no whipped cream on top. That's exactly how I savor dark chocolate, in a bar form or a beverage. :-P If chocolate truffles weren't more appealing, perhaps I might purchase extremely expensive chocolate bars or containers of chocolate powder on the glass counter of the right side. Left side is the seating area. I never realized that there was a chocolatier I once passed by since its been opened for years. Wherever I go, even if I were to visit Kansas City one day, dark chocolate will always be my way.

Finally had a chance to stop here to try their hot chocolate - not just any hot chocolate but closer to the European drinking chocolate. I went with hazelnut and kiddo ordered the passionfruit. They were both topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. To me, the portion size was just right since they were so rich and decadent! Yum! Also had to pick up some chocolates while there. They were just for me, so I didn't need a box (box = extra charge). Dark chocolate is my fave, so the Ghana stood out for me. The ones with the caramels were also good.

The treats were tasty, but on the pricier side. I believe the pricing reflects the quality of the chocolate used in the products, so to me, the pricing is justified. The outer shell of the canelé had a nice crunch, but the inside actually reminded me of a chocolate brownie, and was less custardy than your typical canelé. Despite not being super traditional, I still really enjoyed the treat. With the chocolate chip cookie, I loved the giant chunks of semi-sweet dark chocolate embedded within it. I appreciate that the cookie itself wasn't overly sweet. With most cookies, I usually can only tolerate having a few bites, or need to have a coffee in hand to enjoy it, but I didn't feel like that was the case here: both treats were delicious. Overall, I would definitely stop by Dandelion Chocolate again if I'm looking for a well-crafted, sweet treat.

Our tour guide (forgot his name...!) was so welcoming as he greeted each of us and walked us through the factory. We started with a quick overview of Dandelion Chocolate's history and a handful of samples :3 The actual workshop was just around the corner, hosted in an airy kitchen space. We were given a rundown of the chocolate-making process and the locally-sourced toppings before being invited to create our own bars, by pouring warm chocolate into the molds and quickly adding our choice flavors before they hardened. YUMMMM I may have had more than a few samples as we decorated :3 All throughout, the smell of rich chocolate enveloped us like a warm hug... Once our bars were in the fridge, our tour guide took us to an adjacent meeting room where we tasted hot cocoa and learned about cocoa bean harvesting. Zipped through Q&A about the factory-- passed by so fast! We were back in the room to crack open our finished bars. All except my dad's came out intact (broke into 3 pieces!), but our guide apologized profusely and gifted us a complimentary bar as a token of apology...! My dad was of the mindset that broken or whole, it all tastes the same (lolol) but it was a kind gesture nonetheless :') We stuck around to taste some of Bloom cafe's ice cream offerings, which were phenomenal! Truly a great spot to appreciate fine chocolates. We can't wait to come back for another event!!

I booked about a week in advance which I would definitely advise - these tours fill up! I was the only non-local attendee so it seems like Dandelion is best known within the city. The tour was great - our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the chocolate making process and made the experience fun! We learned about cacao beans and even got to taste the cacao fruit - which was interesting. We then went through the whole process from bean to bar and walked through the factory which was a really neat experience. There were lots of samples along the way which I enjoyed. One of the chocolate makers gave us a sneak peak of an upcoming chocolate bar! The area is spacious and there was a lot of standing - so something to be mindful of if you sign up for a tour. We ended the tour in the front room where we were treated to a free hot chocolate to end our experience. The front room also had a section of samples of their current chocolate offerings. I was happy to try them all before selecting my to-go chocolate for the ride home. I opted for the Mexican hot chocolate and it was spicy and delicious. On my way out, I saw a group arrive for a chocolate-making class so it seems like they have a bunch of different class options! I would certainly come back here for a class or to show the tour to friends and family.

I really like that you can choose exactly how many of each flavor you want in your box. I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. I chose orange, citron/lemon, caramel, earl grey, espresso, raspberry, and hazelnut. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. He took the time to neatly tie up the box and even gave me two complimentary pieces. The shop itself is tiny and charming with a good variety of flavors.
