The Salty Sombitch Iced mocha
Namratha P.

Been seeing this place pop up as one of the best cafes in the area and really wanted to check it out for a while and finally did! It's a cute place that would be great for afternoon tea. I got the iced mocha and the salty sombitch. The coffee was decent but the sombitch may not have been my cup of tea. It was a bit dry and too sweet for my liking but I can see someone else loving it! My only thing about this place was that it was a bit expensive for what it is. The prices were a bit above average compared to other places with similar aesthetics.

Oat chai latte

Super cute spot Nice presentation for oat chai latte Great spice level and first class foam Luv the little spice toppings. Definitely one of the best chai latte in awhile compared to other watery and dull ones from other shops. No vegan baked goods, so can't highly recommend for vegan consumption.

The chipper cookie

My friend and I stopped by for a quick sweet treat and we both ordered cookies. The staff member helping us was kinda and friendly. The cookies for us fell a bit short as none of them was overwhelming and the other was a bit underwhelming in flavors. I wish they added descriptions so we would've had a better idea of the flavors. Overall his location is adorable as it has a quaint and dainty feel to it with the flower decorations.

A San Francisco treasure and delight! Warm, cozy homey. Great pastries--lemon tarts, cheese tarts, drinks, cookies, kouign amanns, buns, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and more. I loved their large, filling, cheesy breakfast burrito with their homemade brisket. Great, friendly, personable, helpful, knowledgeable service in a great space.

breakfast burrito w/ brisket

We stopped by Flour & Branch for coffee and a brisket breakfast burrito. The brisket was so juicy and I especially loved the salsa! The owner (I think!) was super friendly and helped us choose when we couldn't decide--his rec was spot on. The ambiance is cute and relaxed, perfect for catching up with a friend or getting some work done. We didn't try the pastries this time, but the croissants and kouign amann looked incredible. Definitely coming back!

I stopped by with a friend and grabbed a stone fruit danish to share. The pastry was topped with nectarines, custard, and brown butter crumbles which was delicious! Loved the combination of the fruit and flaky, buttery puff pastry and it was the perfect indulgent mid morning treat.

Customer service is top notch, the staff really make you feel welcome and taken care of. The space is very cute and cozy too! At first, I was only going to take some baked goods for takeout, but I ended up ordering their brunch menu (Breakfast Burrito). So glad I did - their house made sausage is perfectly seasoned and not overly salted like many that I tasted out there. Will be back to try more goods :)

Perfect bakery and coffee shop. Got the chipper. Great atmosphere and nice employees. Cheers

$29.9 worth of pastries

Prepare for sticker shock. I honestly felt sick paying so much for a croissant, but I was already there -- and curious what a $16 piece of babka could possibly taste like. (Spoiler: like a babka dipped in milk and reheated.) Here's what I tried: Jane Butter Croissant - $8.50 Absolutely delicious -- but it's Jane's, not theirs. Also unclear why it costs more than at Jane. Meshugana Babka - $16 Great name, beautiful presentation, but just okay on flavor. You're better off with the $5.99 Trader Joe's babka loaf: dip it in milk, fry it in a pan, add cream if you're feeling fancy -- more satisfying IMO. Pistachio Cookie - $6 A bit too sweet for my taste, but good overall. Cappuccino - $8 (didn't buy, just noting) Service: Slow and not particularly friendly. I was initially ignored, then told she couldn't hear me, and despite saying I was in a rush, everything took long. Ambiance: really cute! Bottom line: Good pastries... at twice the cost.

Twice baked pecan croissant
Ahmad W.

This place is truly one of the top-tier bakeries in the area, hands down. In my opinion, it deserves to be in the conversation with the best of the best. Their pecan twice-baked croissants are out of this world--crispy on the outside, perfectly flaky inside, and loaded with rich, buttery pecan filling that hits all the right notes. It's the kind of pastry you remember long after the last bite. The service is consistently warm and attentive, with staff who seem genuinely happy to be there and eager to make your visit special. And the ambience? Classic and charming, with a timeless feel that makes you want to slow down and savor your treat. Whether you're grabbing a quick pastry or settling in for a relaxing moment, this place always delivers.

Brookie and Americano

I wish I was a local so I could go here every day. Why this place? Because the Breakfast Sandy will absolutely change your mood. Well at least for me. The beautiful sandwich comes with not one but TWO poached eggs (cooked to perfection btw). Aka you get two sandwiches for the price of 1. We're talking sausage patties in it. A side salad. An amazing sauce to put in the sandy. I was depressed because the rain, but after one bite. Instant smile. Also, the service was really great. The cashier/server was very sarcastic/funny and he gave me and my friend a free "Brookie" which is a delicious peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and a sticky bun! As for ambiance, the cafe is just so cute. The aesthetic is giving cozy, homey, and there are little items you can buy (candles, etc.).

Cece Y.

What a cute place!!! I first visited years ago when at least 2/3 of the café/bakery was under heavy construction, so when I walked in recently, I was surprised and delighted by how much bigger it is now, plus how well decorated it is. It's now not only a bakery, but also a coffee shop and brunch cafe. On a Saturday afternoon, there were people here both in small groups and solo, enjoying a full brunch, treats, or just coffee. I really love what they've done with the space. It was dimly lit, which provided a nice ambiance for a Saturday afternoon. There was a wall full of beautiful and fun items that were decorative and available for purchase. (I didn't take a photo because there were people standing in front of it who seemed to want privacy.) The employee who assisted me with my order was friendly, too. I adore their chunky cookies. So far, I've tried The Salty Sombitch, which is my favorite. The PB&J cookie is also great. This time, I took my order to go, but next time I will stay a while to enjoy their space and try out more flavors. The signs outside advertising their "secret brunch society" really piqued my interest, so I googled it when I got home. It appears to be a prix fixe brunch that you have to reserve via email since they have limited seating. The menu sounds cute! Don't forget to sign up for their loyalty program (it's linked to your phone number), so that you can earn rewards.

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes
Ekta K.

I went in Spring 2024 to Flour & Branch, and I STILL think about how good the pancakes and coffee are. Best pancakes in SF, hands down. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and the butter was made fresh in-house, and let me say - it is SO GOOD. Hands down, my number one recommendation in the city.

Due to scheduling, I wasn't able to arrive until an hour before closing on a Friday which meant many of the items were sold out. When I arrived, there was a line so I had my buddy drop me off while he found parking. In retrospect, I should have had him drive around the block a few times as the line moved fast and there wasn't much to choose from. Since we both didn't know how quick the transaction would be, he figured out the metered parking, which was a feat in and of itself, and when he was walking over to the bakery, I was done with pastries in hand. Only one customer is allowed in the narrow shop at a time while the other customers queue up waiting to be signaled to step forward. As for seating, there is none so no one hangs around. Of the croissants remaining, I ordered all of them: Chocolate Almond Croissant - full of almond paste and chocolate, you could share this one, but why? This was my favorite. Almond Croissant - very good Kouign-amann - good sized While you can't enjoy the warm croissants with coffee at the shop, my buddy and I tucked in as soon as we got into the car. I hadn't had a traditional one yet this year, so that was a plus for me. Normally I'm not crazy about the nut moon cakes, but this one was terrific! It was the best moon cake I've had in a while - regular lotus seed with yolk and nuts. The lady at the bakery reminded me of an "auntie" and she was super friendly! Even though today was moon cake, I took a chance and asked if she had any wife cake (Low Po Behng). Unfortunately she didn't, but we had a nice little conversation in Cantonese and it brought me back to childhood and Chinatown in L.A. back in the day. Some people might not like that it's closed (I think that's when she runs out or isn't baking that day) but that's just how it goes. It's nothing personal if someone drives a long way and it's closed. It sounds like sometimes the lines can be long (There was no line for us today - score!) but it's everyone's choice if they're willing to wait or not. It's a little place and you order through the door. To me, that just adds to the quirky adventure of it all. Next time I hope she has Low Po Behng!

(i sound like an american health influencer...oh wait i am american). anyway they're a bit too sweet but the frangipane tastes good. the plain one is boring in a bad way. pain suisse is okay too. it's ironic that their best croissants are the day-old ones since they are twice baked with frangipane pumpkin bread was pretty good! again a bit too sweet but spice and pumpkin came in strong like pow pow. bostock was good too - my first time. again a twice baked pastry except it's brioche and the syrup is passionfruit. the fruit flavor was slight but i wish it was stronger. super interesting to eat though i also wish that the heat and freshness of the pastries didn't vary so wildly. some days they're cold as frozen peas and other days they're nice and crispy and warm and fluffy and fireplace-y and hot-mug-y. sorry i have a lot of wishes. unfortunately big B may not be able to satisfy them. i wish i can go back to try the black sesame one but i'm too broke and i have an astronomically low attention span so i can't wait in line
