I would like to say that the majority of these reviews are false. I just picked up a car from Sixt Denver, and the service was amazing. First I would like to say, stop reserving on 3rd party website. I'm lost certain that most of y'all do that. Reserve directly from their website, create an account. Comment on what you'll like to get as a car under the category that you reserve under. Treat people like you would like to be treated and maybe you'll get the same type of treatment in return. Alex thanks for the service, and honesty. Update: Drop off was extremely smooth. Shuttle was waiting. Idk why everyone has issues with Denver's location. Like I mentioned up above stop booking through 3rd party websites and maybe, just maybe you won't have a negative experience. Zero starts for horrible service (Yelp does not allow to post without a start so giving one star here just to post this). We wasted 30 mins at the airport with the shuttle in front of us because the shuttle door wouldn't open. We had to wait for the next shuttle. Then the lady at the office was extremely rude, slammed the keys on the desk (mumbling under her breath) and then gave the wrong directions to the exit. My husband had to park the car in a random parking lot, go back to the office to ask for directions, again wrong directions were given. We had to figure out on our own. Very upset with my Sixt experience! My wife prepaid online a car reservation on my behalf with her credit card, because we were tight on funds for the week. Getting off the plane and taking a shuttle to the Sixt Rent A Car, I was told I could not rent the car, because my wife wasn't present with me, and I did not have enough money in the bank to afford the car rental and the deposit fear. This was AFTER I called their customer service number the night before to make sure I could use my wife's credit card without her being present, and the lady on the phone told me it would be "no problem" because the car was paid for. Now, Sixt refuses to issue me a refund for my car rental, even though they REFUSED TO LET ME RENT THE CAR RENTAL WE'D PAID FOR WITH A CREDIT CARD. Instead, my wife's credit card was charged for over $300 and yet they refused to give me my rental. I have never been treated so poorly and unfairly as a customer, and I cannot stress enough how negatively this impacted our finances and my experience in Denver as a whole. read more

Is 0 stars an option? No? Wow. The whole process and customer service here was absolutely miserable. Alfredo C was the person working with us and he honestly was just terribly rude. They did not have the car (or any car in the same class) that we reserved. Somehow he made it seem like it was OUR fault and had zero accommodations for us. He was huffing and puffing the whole time and completely unwilling to make their error right. I will never ever rent from Sixt again. Spend the extra money and go with Hertz or Enterprise. The fastest car rental experience I have ever had. But that's because I probably came after the rush hour of people getting off flights. It was my first time renting with Sixt and I will for sure be a returning customer. My reservation was for a guaranteed, basically brand new AWD Toyota RAV4 for 11:30 am and there were ZERO lines. Not a single soul in sight. Apparently, Colorado has a fairly new law where all vehicles traveling on I-70 during the winter need to be AWD or have winter/mud tires, so knowing that Sixt could guarantee me an AWD vehicle was nice. No other car rental had this option. My guy Shane was awesome, he was super friendly and straight forward into getting us our car. No issues at all. Some people say they try to upsell you extras but Shane just asked if I needed anything extra, but I politely declined and he was cool with it. The return of the rental was even easier!! Just rolled up the car, parked it, left the keys in the car and that was it. This car rental place is not picky at all and I like how they smoothly operate. Best of all, they have the BEST rates compared to every other car rental. Our group easily saved over $200+. I hope Sixt can continue to keep their rates competitive, it is a big deal for many consumers like me who want to save and want hassle free options. read more

So after I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office regarding their fraudulent car damage scam, all I get from this company is call our number for further information and when I did call yesterday I was hung up on when I told him I was recording the phone calls, and what's interesting is all the phone calls from this rental car company are recorded as indicated in the opening prompt prior to connecting the call, Can someone from this high class company please explain to me Why you are allowed to record phone calls and the consumer who is calling you is not allowed? Why don't you take your scams and your fascist attitudes and business practices and go back to where you came from, these attempts at Fraud And illegal activities will not be tolerated. I arrived at 10PM ish to checkout a car. I was given keys and pointed out the side door to find my car. At the time it was a freezing rain with 20MPH winds. 20 minutes later I came back in soaking wet and given directions to my car. I returned the car an hour before they opened and took the tram to the airport. Upon arriving at the airport I realized I had left a portfolio in the car with 8mportant notes on it. I tried calling after they had opened and reached a call center overseas. I explained I needed the direct number to the rental agency to get my notebook. They told there wasn't a direct number l I had to go online and fill out a list item form. While waiting for my plane I was able to track down a number for a Sixt office in downtown Denver, who then gave me a number for the airport office. Finally I was able to reach to office directly about an hour after they openned. I told him about my lost item was told that their lost and found guy was not in yet and there was nothing he could do. HE LITERALLY ONLY HAD TO POKE HIS HEAD OUT THE DOOR 5 FEET TO HIS LEFT AND LOOK IN THE CAR PARKED NEXT TO IT TO SEE MY PORTFOLIO!!!! He refused and hung up. My online report turned up nothing, now a week later. Of course. It has been decades since I have had to leave a bad review for anyone. But this operation at the Denver Airport was completely un &$+#ing believable. I travel and rent cars every week, but never again with Sixt. I rented a car here a while back. They accused me of damaging the car when I returned the car back. The dent didn't have discoloration but is only visible when a light was shined on it. Fortunately I shined a light while taking a video when picking up the car so I was able to get it on camera proving that it came with the dent so I didn't have to pay for any damages. Given the circumstances I can see how I easily could've lost hundreds of dollars without thorough documentation. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. I booked a car through orbitz using Sixt. My flight was late getting into Denver and Sixt was closed so I was unable to pick up the car. Nor could I call them. Sixt and Hotwire have quite the scam going. Flight comes in at 11:30 at night, Hotwire happily chooses Sixt as the car rental place, even though I'd never heard of them before. We wait on the curb for the shuttle bus for 30 minutes before realizing that unlike virtually every other rental car company, Sixt closed at midnight. All other rental companies run shuttles all night. Never mind the fact the there would be no way to get from the DIA terminal to the rental place in time, even if you had a rare flight (these days) that arrived on schedule. Now neither company will reimburse since they each blame the other guy, and I'm out a few hundred bucks. Pretty slimy since Hotwire knew the schedule and didn't let us choose the company before paying. Live and learn, I'll NEVER do business with either of these shady companies. read more

Well I did my research before renting from Sixt and was prepared, or so I figured. I've heard about damage to cars leaving the lot and then being blamed on the current renter, so I looked the car over really well but it was night when I arrived and everything was frozen. I missed a scratch along the entire front of the car. Luckily for me when I returned the car, the attendant acknowledged that the damage was old, which was quite obvious. The reason for my 1 star is simply this....I avoided the two Toll Roads going to Fort Collins since I had the time and wanted to see the area in general. Upon my return, I received a bill for using the Toll Road. It's quite simple really and too low of a fee for me to fight, but I was nonetheless overcharged. Positive--The prices are competitive, if not better, than the other companies. Negatives--it is not possible to talk to a live person with Sixt. Customer service is not existent. My flight was cancelled and I let them know I would be arriving 6 hours later than planned. When I got my car, they were charging me another 50% because they said my reservation changed! How could I be charged $200+ more and have the car 6 hours less? I cannot get a hold of any live person in the company to help me. I booked an online order for a small car for 3 days and paid before i got there (220$). I was very happy about the price and couldn't wait to get it. However when I got there they said I had to upgrade to this other car, which was a 50$ addition, then i was told I would be added a 74$ charge because I was 21 years of age. When I booked my reservation on Priceline, it said to put in your age then gave new prices for my age. Along with this it said that the surcharge they gave for anyone under 25 could be waived if you had a AAA card/account. Sixt told me I had to call Priceline to get my money back, so I called Priceline, and it automatically connected me to a "sixt employee" in India. Basically got totally ripped off, I would never book through this place unless you don't mind paying 3x more than you anticipated. read more

Before we drove it out of the parking garage it was documented that there was a scratch "Driver side Wing / fender rear edge 10 cm (down to the primer)". Now they are trying to collect from us for that scratch. Avoid!!! Secret extra charges! I rented a compact car via Expedia. When I got there they told me that my size vehicle wasn't available, but I could choose between a huge SUV or a pickup truck. What they didn't tell me is that they would bill me an extra $160US for the "upgrade" for a two-day rental. I made a reservation with Sixt but I couldn't have the car as they required an American driver's license. I had a credit card, proof of residence, valid Brazilian driver's license and it still wasn't enough, so I went to Hertz and rented a vehicle without the slightest problem. I REGRET USING THIS COMPANY. Terrible customer service backed by bad policy. I wanted to use this company in the hopes they would be a good alternative to the other rental companies and I regret it at every level. When I tried to add a day to my reservation (giving them more business) I was charged $165 more, for 1 day. The agent said that I had changed my entire reservation and was quoted at a new, much higher daily rate for all the days. They could not even mention they fact that they did an illegal act by giving us expired insurance and no refund!!! Caveat Emptor It would be wise to avoid doing business with this company. This is my opinion based on personal experience and research conducted ex post. The ordeal began with a bait and switch. I booked with Sixt under the pretense that I was reserving a Jeep. When I arrived they just so happened to be out of Jeeps so I left with Kia. The parking lot in Denver is dimly lit which makes inspection of the vehicles condition at night a challenge. The child seats that I had reserved were sitting next to the vehicle awaiting my installation. When returning the rental, the attendant stated that "everything looks good" and had me sign the tablet. I received an email a month later informing me that they were holding me responsible for damages in excess of $500. No accidents occurred during my rental period. Luckily the credit card company paid the bill, but Sixt continues to send rude emails wanting more money. read more

I specifically rented from Sixt because they had a guaranteed model with a Jeep Wrangler. When we arrived at the rental center in Denver there were no Wranglers. We took the "upgraded" vehicle that was offered to us because there was no other choice. What I want to know is what does "guaranteed model" actually mean?? If I knew I was not going to get a Jeep I would not have rented from Sixt. And I'm not sure that I'll rent from them again if somehow this situation isn't rectified. The agent at the counter was not apologetic at all and seemed to have no concerns that they weren't living up to the "guarantee". The vehicle we were given may have a fancy brand name but it is not the vehicle we needed for our rental and I certainly did not consider it an upgrade. Also when we got on the shuttle at the airport, it reeked of cigarette smoke because the driver was standing right at the door smoking. UPDATE: If I could give negative stars on how customer service has handled this I would. They said in their reply that they don't guarantee models. Then maybe their website shouldn't say "guaranteed" model. Most categories do say "or similar" but not the Jeep Wrangler. My reservation said "guaranteed" but that's means NOTHING to them. read more

I definitely experienced the bait-and-switch that others have noted, where the car I rented was no longer available and they offered more expensive vehicles instead. They said if I got rental insurance they would waive the fee for the upgraded vehicle. I didn't feel like fighting them on it so I went with the rental insurance that I didn't need just so that I'd pay $35 more a day for insurance instead of $77 for a vehicle upgrade. Customer service was super nice even though I knew they were being shady with the upgrade/insurance stuff. I was a happy customer still. That was all fine until I got home and my final invoice was $133 more than the amount I agreed to when picking up the car (not to mention ultimately $266 more than the original rental quote). Turns out they snuck in a $133 fueling charge even though I filled up before returning. Absolutely shady and that piece is what finally lost me as a repeat customer. Super disappointing. I had to call and dispute that charge, they mumbled something about no evidence of them refueling so they'd waive it. Bullshit that they tried to add a charge, likely in the hopes that customers won't notice. read more

When we got the car at Denver International it had a few scratches which is common when renting. When we returned it we got a thumbs up. Now they have contacted me with a damage claim about scratches that were already there. I have been renting cars for over 30 years (only my second Sixt rental) and never had this happen. This is stressful because it is me vs. a large corporation that is trying to get me to pay for damage caused by someone else. Also, the license tag on the car was expired so I could have been pulled over at any time. My advice would be to rent with a more reputable company - even if it costs more at the time, you are more likely to avoid this nightmare scenario of being pursued by them for costly damages that you did not cause. read more

Slow customer service, car had to be returned (1.5 hours of driving required to return the vehicle for required maintenance), neither first or second vehicle was cleaned/washed before we received it, and I was accused of causing damage to the vehicle. Very frustrating first experience with no customer service or human contact. Booked a car through Expedia and needed to cancel due to a family medical situation. Sixt was entitled to keep $100 per their cancellation policy, but not the $200 that they kept from me (since I cancelled outside of 24 hours). After escalating multiple times through Expedia and being told to wait for many weeks, ultimately Sixt didn't budge, even on the money they legally owed me. Long story short, Expedia eventually helped me get $100 back, but not the other $100. Through all this I had asked for a courtesy waiver of the $100 fee they were rightfully entitled to keep and, the most frustrating part was that it was only declined AFTER I was asked to provide a letter from a surgeon and was told to wait many weeks for a reply. Would have been better if I had just got a quick "no" rather than being strung along. Very frustrating and cold company, no human touch whatsoever. read more

If I could leave zero stars for this company I would. This is hands-down, the worst rental car company we have ever encountered. We had a terrible experience with them. We rented a car and within two hours the car needed an oil change. We were not near a place that we could do the oil change through them so we're told that we could get an oil change somewhere else and be reimbursed. We took time out of our vacation and spent the money to get an oil change and take care of their car. Then we were informed that they would not be covering the oil change after all. Instead, we were given a voucher to "make things right." When we attempted to use the voucher and use this business again, it would cost us an additional $75 to pay later if we wanted to use the voucher. They were rude over the phone and informed us our only options were to pay extra to use our voucher, or not use it and spend less. So ultimately we were still out $200 for an oil change on their vehicle and had extremely rude customer service for taking care of their car for them. Will never use them again. read more

I have to say that my first experience with Sixt is not starting well. I was checking prices online and was waiting to confirm dates with flight before booking. The day after, cost for same rental was 60% higher. Now that I had my dates I decided to rent in fear of having to deal with an inferior car as it seems Sixt has some nicer vehicles (on paper so far). I bite the bullet and pay up front for the rental. The other option was to not pay and later you can pay more BUT you can change this non-paid reservation without fees. Today, the day after renting the prices are lower, low enough to prompt this review. After asking for an upgrade the nice rep on the phone said to ask at the location, When i asked for the location phone number where i will pick up at I was denied. **UPDATE** customer service responded to this review and I contacted them and never heard back. It seems that they post responses to negative reviews to give the impression that they are trying to help unsatisfied customers without ever actually following through. I am currently dealing with them charging me for tire damage that was not reported on the paper I signed when returning the car. This sure feels like a shake down. Ive had ok experience with other Sixt locations but this was hands down the worst experience Ive had renting a car anywhere in the world. I booked a midsize SUV because I was driving to Wyoming and I wasn't sure if there would be any snow or ice on the road. When I arrived, Cody told me that they "upgraded" me to a full size SUV and I told them I didnt need that big of a car and they said that they didnt have any cars in the class I booked. I wasn't familiar with the VW Atlas and when I went and saw it, I immediately checked what the MPG was (I was going to be doing a lot of driving by myself and didn't want to spend a ton on gas). It got terrible gas mileage and I went back inside and asked what else they had available. He said nothing except for the luxury class which was very expensive and required a huge credit card deposit. So I was stuck with this massive car. He was not apologetic when I voiced my concerns and didn't offer any options, he basically just shrugged it off like he was saying "oh well, too bad, deal with it." He also tried to sell me a toll pass for around $49 after telling me that the combined tolls for the route I said I was going would be over $30, which sounded insanely high. I didn't buy the toll pass and my tolls were $12. He didn't seem to know how the pass even worked. No damage was communicated to me when I dropped the car off but apparently there was damage to the tire that they just sent me an invoice for so apparently I have to pay for that too. read more
