We had a nice time at Six50, as we were a large group of family (9 of us in total at two outdoor patio tables with a little dog, too). Lauren was our server and was super friendly, though she was apparently new-ish, which showed in some of our orders not being quite right. Everything was also pretty slow and the timing of dishes coming out wasn't uniform. Pizza was fine, but could've been hotter and a bit more crisp on the crust. Situated directly on the shores of Lake Ontario in the charming village of Sodus Point, Six50 on the Bay offers picturesque views of the bay and the surrounding area. The restaurant is known for its wood-fired menu that blends American cuisine with creative twists and influences. My wife and I live somewhat close to Sodus Point and had been meaning to go out to take a little day trip. Her co-workers actually gave her a gift card for Six50, so we decided it'd be a perfect opportunity to go out for a nice day and try out the restaurant. The reviews were concerning, but hey, we weren't paying for it anyway. We ended up there around 1PM on a Saturday. Sodus Point is very much a touristy-beach-boat town, the streets are lined with restaurants and historical landmarks while the beach and bay surrounds the little village. While there were plenty of people around, there was still plenty of close, open, free parking on the streets, and we were able to park only a couple minute walk from the restaurant. There were only a couple occupied tables and we were sat pretty immediately at an outside table when we walked in, although we were told we'd have to wait a couple minutes until our server got back to the restaurant, but we didn't ask exactly what that meant. When our server did show, which wasn't long after, we already had our order decided. One of Six50s things is that everything is wood fired and there are no deep fryers at the restaurant - they even have a sign out front saying so - so we chose an order of their wood fired chicken wings in their "dynamic duo" sauce, a combination of buffalo and garlic parmesan. My wife ordered a Mount Vesuvius pizza, while I chose the Adriano pizza. Our wings came out first relatively quickly, and while they were cooked very well, the sauce had 0 flavor. Most of it slipped right off the wings onto the plate, but even when we rolled them around, the flavor just wasn't there. They say everything including their sauces are home made, so while the wing sauce wasn't great, we did enjoy their (assuming) home made bleu cheese. We waited for a long time for our pizzas, around another 40 minutes AFTER we received our wings. At a busy restaurant, wouldn't have thought anything of it, but there were maybe 3 other tables sat with us in the restaurant, so it seemed like a long time. The pizzas were surprisingly not bad - we felt they had both pros and cons. The pros being there were plenty of toppings, good flavor, and one pizza is probably enough for 2 people. The cons being, while there were plenty of toppings, there was very little cheese. That, and both my wife and I had slices that were completely burned from the wood fire, and didn't even have any toppings on them anymore. Our server was friendly and attentive when we needed it. We had a $65 gift card and only owed $5 after it for 2 pizzas, an order of wings, and a fancy drink for my wife, and we brought home pretty much an entire third pizza form the left overs, so not a bad value. My only other complaints were that there was a broken lock on the one person men's room door, which they were aware of because they had a sign on it saying to please knock first, and while there's beautiful views on the outside patio of the bay, it'd be a much nicer experience out there if they cleaned it. The barrier that's up between the tables and the bay was just absolutely COVERED in cobwebs, as were the string of lights they had hung overhead. Overall, it was not as bad as the other reviews had me believing it would be, but it also didn't impress us either. Just arrived in town for our Summer vacation, and didn't even get to experience the restaurant. Walked in as a party of 3 at 8:40 pm and was IMMEDIATELY BARKED AT BY THE HOSTESS. No greeting whatsoever she only said "We're Not Serving Food!!" So I asked if we could sit on the deck to have a drink and the hostess hard rolled her eyes and said ugh I'll go see" . A little update on Six50 on the Bay. Date-7/3/22 Time-5:30pm Extremely busy on the point but perfect time to come here for food and drinks. It does get very busy as the evening rolls on. Make reservations ahead of time! On this visit, we enjoyed a lemonade fun drink an ice cold IPA, an Amazing Grains giant pretzel (get it!!!!), and the July Fourth red, white and blue salad! Spring mix, fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, candied walnuts, fresh goat cheese, with a balsamic drizzle! Delish! We have supported Six50 since their opening! There are growing pains as with most new restaurants. Each year has gotten better. This year seems to be the best yet. The upstairs space is perfect for providing amazing views. The staff is doing an amazing job even with the shortages that are plaguing so many venues. We know a few servers and they are sharing some information that is disappointing. We have all struggled with a global pandemic and a volatile political climate. We are now dealing with people who don't want to work and those who do, are getting shafted. Large groups are splitting the checks which in and of itself is difficult to manage for a server & then not tipping. Like...what??? A fair number are quite inebriated when they arrive, are demanding and then don't tip. A number of these servers are college students and are working to save money for school... so pay tips in cash please. This helps tremendously since your credit card charges the tax on tips too. Try and remember your jobs when you were younger. Put yourself in their position. I am sure they will appreciate it. I will say, if you aren't satisfied with your service, provide constructive feedback, ask to speak with a manager and leave a small tip. I was surprised by the reviews when I came to write mine. I luckily stopped in before checking them. Otherwise I would have missed out on a great restaurant. The restaurant is right on the water in Sodus. There are plenty of outdoor seating options. There is outdoor seating covered by the roof on the 2nd floor, outdoor seating right by the water with umbrellas at the table, or seating out front on the main Sodus strip. If it's nice they will open the exterior wall facing the water. We had 2 small plates and a pizza. The shrimp portion was a little on the small side but tasted much better than normal peel n eat shrimp. These were served warm with butter and old Bay coating them. I really liked them and would get them again. We ordered a full order of nachos...they were huge! They weren't spicy (if you didn't intentionally eat a jalepeno slice) and had a good ammount of beef. The picture I took was after we worked on them for a while. The wood fired pizza was good too...we opted for "loaded potato" pizza to try something different. It was pretty good and worth the price. This was more than enough for two people. We were overly full and still had half the pizza to take home. The drink selection and pricing were surprising. They have large wine slushes for 7 dollars. We ordered the peach and it tasted like a tropical frozen drink. The cup was overflowing (pic was after we drank some). They had a decent wine by the glass selection and a decent beer selection with a few "craft offerings". They had several specialty cocktails including several mid shelf margaritas and martinis. All were around 8 dollars which I think is fair for the brands of alcohol and type/size. The server was a nice guy and attentive. Refills were quick and he stopped by to check on us often even though he was slammed. I think his name was Adrian. He recommended the shrimp to us which was a good call. They had live music after 7pm. It was a trio of singers. I found it a little odd at first because they were playing recorded music. I ended up liking it and felt like it fit well. The dinner prices are a little high but understandable given the location on the water. I would suggest sticking with appetizers/pizza if you don't want to spend 20 to 30 per meal. I've been to Jack's down the street. It's a bar atmosphere as where six50 was more like a bistro vibe. Six50 is definitely the nicer of the two places. The food is better too. If you are looking for a party, go to Jack's. If you want a quiet meal with good food and a view, go to six50. I have been to other Six50 restaurants so was familiar with the establishment as we were visiting the point. We went in for lunch and had to wait about 15-minutes which was fine, so we waited. We each ordered salads, not being in the mood for pizza. The salads were rather good and hit all the marks. I cleaned my plate. The location is rather nice and you get views of the lake. We asked for indoor (or else a 45-minute wait), but were seated right at the border so in essence we had outdoor seating. Our server was rather pleasant and helpful. We ended up waiting a bit longer than one would expect on placing our order, but we saw that she was doing double duty and helping with a larger table/order. Normally this is a management problem, but today people do not want to work and are staying home collecting unemployment checks - thanks COVID. My friends and I were very excited to go out to eat again, since it had been awhile due to the pandemic. The outdoor seating is very nice, and there is outdoor heating which I loved. Since restaurants have just been allowed to reopen outdoor dining services in the area, I will cut them some slack. However, they messed up our reservation not once but twice. The service was very slow and the food was subpar at best. We waited ~45 minutes for appetizers. My friend's nachos were not very good, the chips were all broken. My spinach and artichoke dip had an extremely thin and watery consistency, making it hard to eat as a "dip". I will say the wings and pizza were done pretty well though. The drinks were good. I would consider giving this place another chance as I know they just reopened their outdoor dining services. read more

Worst Buffalo chicken salad I have ever had. Even though they have chicken tenders on the menu, the chicken they used was something processed and not fried as expected. Add in all they did was dump a 1/4 cup of hot sauce over chicken and salad and was a disaster having huge pool of hot sauce on plate. The homemade blue cheese was also the worst I have had and so thick would not come out of container. Overall even though on the water, everything was overpriced so just avoid. Came to Sodus trying to hike the Chimney Bluffs! Before the adventure, my group wanted to stop for some fuel. The little strip has 3-5 food options and Six 50 was the only option that honestly seemed clean and not dated back to the 1900s. The location- beautiful The patio- beautiful The bar- beautiful. Everything about the restaurant looked nice. We were brought promptly to a table by our server. Our server was nice and prompt, however she clearly wasn't educated on the Happy Hour drink specials. She told us that every single menu item on the drink list was half off EXCEPT adult shakes and slushees. I specifically asked her if White Claw was included and she repeated herself (which meant yes, they were included) in the special deal. My boyfriend and my brother ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon. When we received the bill neither alcoholic beverage was half off... I asked her at the end why they were full price and she went to go give us a discount. She clearly made an error in telling us what was what because it would have been automatic in the computer if it was 1/2 off. She should have been better informed because I asked two times. My food... bleh. I started with clams casino. I couldn't tell if they were frozen and they used a pre made mix. It was bland and mushy and lacking any flavor. I doused the clams in lemon just to give it some sort of essence. This didn't help (LOL). Onto my main course- mussels. Easy, right? I LOVE garlic but I have never in my life eaten a dish with so much, wayyyyyyy too much garlic. My stomach hurt after eating them because the garlic sunk to the bottom of my belly. It was to the point where I made my brother try one and he choked. I still ate them anyway... the crusty bread dipped in the broth was good. All in all... they have a little work to do on making sure their staff knows the details inside and out but she was a good server beyond that, and the kitchen could use a little work. My family and I were on vacation. We always come up to NY for a week and stay at Sodus. We decided to try this restaurant since the kids wanted pizza. I went ahead and looked at the online menu so we would be ready with our order. Upon arrival the greeting was horrible. Our entire family decided to come as well and it was a party of 9; the hostess proceeded to say "what 9!!!!" With a weird face (date was 07/19/19 @ 9pm) and yes it's more customers so why are you looking at my family weird like 9 people is too much??!! Okay so I proceeded to order and my calamari came out in a sauce and not fried like the online menu stated. Anyways I spoke to the waitress and she said well the menu changes and what's online may not be what we are serving???!!! Okay. So why the heck do you have a deceiving menu online and you bring me something totally different. I was extremely disappointed, the waitress barely came by to refill our drinks unless we raised our hand and waited. Im regards to the famous pizza, we were not impressed. I might as well get a better New York pizza in North Carolina. The prices are ridiculous for the un- quality of the food. The waitress did not even offer to provide me a refund for the un-eaten item. The salad was warm, they served it on a hot plate that came out of the dishwasher, so no crispy salad there just soggy. I was beside myself. This is a waterhole for people to drink (since they offer half off beverages, I don't drink so I couldn't even tell you if their drinks were any good). Only thing I can say is that my sister-n-law had a bug in her drink. (Maybe that's why they are half off??) Not the memory I wanted to leave with. I am very careful on my reviews and very honest. This has been an unfortunate event.Very poor management. Or whomever owns it does not really care about their customer service or how they train their staff. Hard to know what the Six50 stands for, it's certainly not a high score out of 100. Possibly it means that Six out of every 50 diners get a nice meal. It's a place with a full bar in the center, and tables out to the water. More seating upstairs with a second bar, music later in the evening. Menu looks good and the nice entry belies what happens once they have you hooked! Went in earlier in the day and reserved a table for six overlooking the water, on the main level, yeh sure, no problem according to the hostess. Arriving at 7.30 for our table, we were given a rear upstairs table beside a floor mop and not overlooking the water! Really, how about our reservation and the empty tables downstairs, the hostess was eventually accommodating under duress. This is not a good marketing ploy to get your diners into the mood for a nice meal. Bad choice of words, the special pasta in red sauce had to be something in a cheap can from Dollar General, the pizza with the cauliflower crust was so tough it could not be cut and we ended up scraping the food off the base and eating it as a soggy tasteless mush that should have embarrassed any so called chef. Definitely not the place to go for anything other than wings and beer. All the matching uniforms on the chefs may as well have been stand in actors dressed for part, making food for a movie. The food here is less than stellar. Pasta primavera swimming in flavorless liquid, and they forgot to put the chicken on it. The Wease dish was on but nothing special. The server was friendly but we didn't even have silverware or napkins when the appetizers came. Nothing was exceptional. I don't usually bother to leave a review but I couldn't ignore this one. The ambiance, service, and food were great. 4 people shared the nachos. The portion was great. There was cheese and queso for every chip. We tried different pizzas and a chicken Cobb salad. My husband had the cubano pizza and my kids had the special pizza - chicken Mac and cheese pizza. The Mac and cheese and chicken were spilling of the pizza (in a good way). All was very delicious. After another 15 minutes our wings arrived but they were completed dried out and overcooked - not edible. Also the bathrooms were disgusting - very dirty and littered and I don't even want to say what my son saw on the floor. The service is a B-.... On more than one occasion I had to encourage the waitress to clear our empty glasses and plates. The food a C at best. Nachos were soggy, salmon was just BAD and was accompanied by risotto that was more like mush. Highlights were the side salads and the cookie dessert. Drinks were also good including an icy cold martini. Sodus Point has a hard time with restaurants due to seasonality etc and my guess is this one will struggle too in the long run. We frequent the area and went to six-50 today in honor of our annniverary. We were one of two tables our waitress had. But even with the light workload our service was terrible. We waited a long time for her first visit to the table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. When she came back with the drinks we reminded about the app. She didn't have the order right at all. The nachos had no taco flavor, they were chips with a meat hot sauce, appropriate for a garbage plate, on them. Our drinks were empty for half the time we ate the appetizer. We ordered pizzas. I ordered bbq chicken pizza. When I tried the pizza it was a buffalo chicken pizza. Our waitress did not come back to our table at all while we ate. I ate one piece of pizza with the stuff scraped off. Drinks were again empty. When she finally came back and asked if we wanted a box I asked about the pizza. She responded flatly "I thought you said buffalo chicken". She didn't offer to get me what I ordered and did not offer to take the cost of the pizza off my bill. I will be sure to let my local friends know that this was our experience and is a place to be avoided. For the price you ought to be able to do a lot better. We will not go back. read more
