This is a very busy place, so expect at least some wait. I stood in line for about five minutes, but I was dining alone and was able to take a seat at the bar. Larger parties may have to wait longer. Also, be aware that Matt's Bar is cash only. The Jucy Lucy is clearly the most popular item. The burgers are cooked to order, but the grill is constantly loaded with them. From what I observed, they seemed to be prepared in batches, so your wait may depend on where your order falls in the cooking cycle. Parking was easier than I expected. I found free street parking about 100 yards away. The bartender was excellent, the kitchen staff kept things moving, and there was a decent beer selection. I also ordered fries, and the portions are enormous. A half order would easily be enough for two people to share, while a full order could probably feed four. As for the burger itself, it was good and definitely worth trying for the history and experience. I would rate it somewhere around 3.5 to 4 out of 5. One important tip is to let it sit for about five minutes before taking a bite. The cheese inside is extremely hot and very liquid when the burger first arrives, so it can easily burn your mouth. Giving it a few minutes allows the cheese to cool and thicken slightly. Overall, I enjoyed Matt's Bar and am glad I tried the original-style Jucy Lucy. Between the crowds and the cash-only policy, it is probably a one-time experience for me rather than somewhere I would visit regularly, but it was still a very good stop.

The service was appropriately lowkey and prompt. Their food might seem a bit expensive, but their portions are generous. The fries were reminiscent of McDonald's fries in the best way, just fresher and crispier! We tried the Parlour burger and the chicken sandwich, both of which were simple but delicious.

Each…read morebeef patty is much thinner now than it used to be so the outter edge crisp is somewhat all throughout the patty being that thin. This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.

Tables are limited so might be a wait for a table during their busy times. Since all of the tables were full we did take out. After about a 15 minute drive home, the burger and fries still tasted sooooo good once we finally ate. Le Burger x2 (no pickles) - the first bite was the perfect! Juicy burger, little bit of salt from cheese and the sauce balanced the fatty burger patty. The sesame bun never got soggy from the juicy burger and sauce. Pomme Frites w/ Le Sauce - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfectly salted. Went great with Le Sauce that tastes like a balance of mayo and dijon.

I wasn't overly impressed but it was enjoyable and I appreciated what appeared to be an intentionally crafted meal. I didn't try the fries or soft serve so that's next time! I appreciated the salad on the menu and had that too! SERVICE: cool concept-- order at counter, then you get seated. It was efficient but far better than just a "fast food pickup" or traditional counter service restaurant. I also have to say-- efficiency was great. The line was long but was helped quick! PARKING: always hard in Linden Hill. Street parking in neighborhood nearby is the best. Plan for a 5 min walk. AMBIANCE: far better than a typical counter service restaurant but not quite a dine in restaurant feel. Still, I'd bring friends even if I wanted a dine in restaurant because they've done a good job at this concept.

You get west coast mid century modern that feels cozy and hip. The band played from 3-5 which I admit I originally thought was weird. But quickly realized why. This place was created for three reasons: good food, vibes, and family fun. You look around the room and EVERYONE is having a great time. Someone's Grandpa and grandma are having a blast on the Dance floor, kids are laughing, and everyone eating and truly having a wonderful time. The food was SO SO SO good. My husband got the pastrami ribs and I wish I had taken a photo because HOT DAYUM they were fire. And the coolest part about this place is they don't accept tip. Instead there is a surcharge so all employees can have a livable wage and that's so appreciated and you can tell by the service. Everyone we encountered had a genuine smile on their face. For the owners- my husband and I weren't sure if we wanted children and have been going back and forth about it for so long... but being in a safe family environment where fun and good vibes and inclusivity is possible- it hit us like a ton of bricks. Thanks Animales. We will be sure to bring our family here for the years to come

The hostess was extremely unfriendly and seemed very unhappy. She played the game and greeted us, but never once made eye contact, said "welcome in", "thank you for coming in" or anything else that would make a customer feel like they were appreciated for coming in. From the time we walked in to the time she showed us to our table, I said "thank you so much" three times and not once was even acknowledged or replied back with a "you're welcome". She should really find something else to do if she's not going to be a "host". Serving people should be the greatest pleasure we have when engaging with those we don't know. Patrick on the other hand was truly awesome. Friendly, smiling, engaged in conversation prior to taking our order and just seemed happy to talk to us. We told him we were from Nevada and were only there because of a recommendation from a couple in an elevator! He thought that was just awesome. Food arrived and everything was really good. The hash browns were WAY overcooked, almost burnt, but that was the only negative thing to say about the food. It was otherwise delicious! I would strongly suggest this place for breakfast. The menu is really good, with a decent variety of good options to choose from. Cost wasn't bad, but not a deal either. If I was part of the management team, I'd have a serious conversation with the young lady who was hosting today (8/12/26. She's going to cost you return business if she doesn't learn how to be a host and be happy serving people.
