Great BBQ - 4 stars…read more Amos & Amos is a quirky place. And I have to admit, I love the weirdness. According to the owner, they've been around for 9 years. But the building itself is an old A&W drive-in fast food joint, built in 1953. Very cool! Most people seem to drive around the back of the building and pull into one of the parking spots that were "order from your car" spaces back in the day. Or you can just park on the street. Then you walk up to the window and place your order. Easy, right? This is where it starts to get weird. The sliding order window has 2 basement window well covers bolted over the sliding doors, like a big clam shell. The owners cut a flap in the bottom that only opens from the inside. Apparently, this is some sort of home-made do-it-yourself security thing. It seems to do the job...but you can't talk to them and they can't hear you until they slide open the door and then shout through the clam shell. And they don't seem to be in a hurry to do anything. I stood around like an idiot for a while, watching the lady, until she FINALLY slid the door open and talked to me. Kinda hard to hear through the big plastic clam shell. Speaking of shouting...you wait in your car or stand outside for 15 or 20 minutes and they yell when your food is ready. You can't hear what they're saying when they shout...but it all seems to workout okay. Like I said - quirky. LOW CARB: Okay, on to the most important thing: the food. I got the rib tip combo meal with a big hot link. Both were excellent. The rib tips were amazingly tender and lathered in generous amounts of a sweet sauce. Great taste. My hot link was huge and flavorful. For some reason, it reminded me of a big blood sausage. Good stuff. Unfortunately, you can't get any meat without sides. And all of the sides are plants. So in addition to my meats, I received and payed for unwanted carbohydrates of coleslaw, white bread toast, and a huge mountain starchy of fries. Those all came home with me to feed the Blue Jays and the Squirrels. That was kind of a waste of food but I had no choice about the high starch carbohydrate sides. I like this place. The meats are great. But it's a little frustrating if you eat low carb. It would be awesome if these guys sold meat by the pound, like many of the other BBQ joints. Oh, well. It was worth the stop. -Maxx

I've been here a couple of times and the food is good bbq. I love their rib tips. What prompted me to post my review at this moment is taking the time to come here during business hours and they're not open. Oops.

Went at 7 AM on a Saturday. There was no line and I got my order in right away…read more Food 4/5: I got the mushroom and cheese. The crepe was light and fluffy. There was definitely a good cheese pull. My only feedback would be this would be wholly elevated with some spices, egg, and fresh mushrooms. Service 5/5: these are made once ordered. They gave me a buzzer so I could walk around the market instead of waiting at their stand. Overall was a great experience. They have a lot of great sweet options, and I'd love to see more savory especially for breakfast. Would also be wonderful if they handed it over in a way that you could eat on the go instead of having to sit down and use a fork/knives. A must try at the Minneapolis farmers market!

These are a MUST get when at the farmers market. No trip seems to be complete without getting one…read more They have both sweet and savory and prices are ~$10-12 each with options for additional add ons. They are all fresh made and on a busy Saturday you can expect to wait 10-15 min (or more) depending on the line but it is worth it. One thing I did notice recently is that they had additional Crêpe plates that weren't being used so they may have been short staffed which led to a slightly longer wait. The family that owns the stand moves quickly and is so helpful when taking, making and delivering your order. Just have a little patience and realize that if someone in your part is getting food from another stand, they might be done eating before you get theirs. Our crepe of choice is the mixed berry and it is so yummy but every crepe coming off the plates looked equally delicious.

Just as I was lamenting the lack of good food options here, I came across this empanada stand near my gate. I ordered three empanadas: the chicken, the beef, and the spicy beef. The first two were decent, not bad but nothing special. But the spicy beef empanada is the single best empanada I've had in my life. I know that sounds crazy. But seriously, this random empanada stand at this airport has my favorite empanadas I've ever had. The spicy beef is perfectly seasoned and moist. The outer shell is the perfect crispiness and not too thick. This is now my go-to place whenever I come to this airport in Minneapolis. Obviously not much service or ambiance to speak of since it's next to the airport gate. But my rating is just for the food.

Unfortunately, they were out of most empanada by 7 am! I had my eye on a spinach and feta one but the person in front of me bought the last one. They were also out of everything other than the spicy beef and spicy chicken options. Hoping as they ramp up they can plan better and stock more. Also, the price is pretty expensive, about $7-8 for a very small empanada, but again, I understand it is airport pricing.
