Pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, coleslaw, mac & cheese, sausage links, and french fries. All of it was fantastic! I love the dip they serve with their french fries. A number of the reviews mention that the brisket was too dry. I think I now know why. Read on if you prefer good, moist brisket... Note: This was our first time here. When the waitress arrives, she announces that they are out of "burnt ends". (This is made from the moist, marbled part of the brisket called the "point-cut", which in Texas is called "moist brisket" or "fatty brisket".) She said that they still had brisket sold by the pound, so I asked if they still had the point cut (because if they were out of burnt ends, then they might not have any point cut left -- I don't like and won't buy the lean, often dry "flat-cut" of the brisket). She said something about helping me with that when we order, and left us to look at the menus. When we ordered I again questioned about this, and she said they could give me brisket with fat on it. Me: No, this is not the same thing (see above). We discussed further, and she assured me that she could get me what I wanted, so I ordered a half pound of it, plus some ribs. When the meal comes, it's not the marbled, moist brisket -- it the lean, flat-cut, with a layer of fat on top. I asked a third time whether this was supposed to be the cut I described; do they have the point-cut? She said she would ask the chef. Comes back and says the chef says "yes", they do. At this point I'm beginning to doubt myself, in spite of what I see. So I drop the subject and let her get on her way. I try it. It's not bad, but it's not marbled and therefore a bit dry for my tastes. Should anyone get an overcooked slab of this, I can see how they would complain about it being too dry! The ribs were ok, but overcooked in my opinion, so the meat was not thick and moist. The sides were meh. -- a potato salad that was sweet, not enough mayo and mustard, and no eggs. So it was not "...how grandma made it..." as they advertise. Not my grandma. -- and a cole slaw that was equally unmemorable. My two lunch companions enjoyed their sandwiches, so it was not a total bust. The ambiance outside on the deck on a gorgeous day was perfect (covered but open deck, by the way). The service was very good, outside of the complete misunderstanding of the Texas BBQ that they claim to be serving. Not her fault; from the management and on-down, they probably have no idea. So all-in-all, I wouldn't go out of my way again to visit here; your mileage may vary. read more

What a surprise to find in Hanover... Came here for my dad's birthday and got right in, even though they looked really busy. Everyone was very satisfied with their food, lots of flavor!! Amazing BBQ spot! I'm not even a huge fan of BBQ, and this is now my new favorites! Get here early to beat the rush! They do not take reservations, but the place is huge and fun spot to grab a drink to hang out before your meal. MUST TRYS: Burnt ends, brisket, Mac n Cheese, and loaded queso fries! You will not be mad about these flavors! So delicious! Pass on the chips and pico, it was a small portion for the price and nothing special about it. I was really excited about finding another BBQ place that I hadn't known about before. Maybe I've just become too picky or maybe Sunday isn't the best time time to go but I was very disappointed. The ribs were warmish and dry and lacked the smoky flavor I was hoping for. The fries were outstanding but more ketchup would have been helpful. The place seem to copy Famous Dave's with a roll of paper towels and sauces on the table. Really great first experience. Stopped in with my family today after a visit to a nearby playground. We were so hungry, and the portions did not disappoint! The kiddos got cheeseburger sliders, and mac & cheese, and the hubby and I created a tray of meats. We had a quarter pound of the pulled chicken, a quarter pound of the beef brisket, and a half pound of the pulled pork. We also got their barbecue baked beans, which had a ton of chunks of meat in them (this was my absolute favorite part of the meal) and a side of fries with seasoned sour cream. The meats were all tasty, but the chicken was my favorite. Service was quick and friendly, we got our food fast, and the environment was casual and relaxed. OMG I'm in BBQ heaven and this is Minnesota! I was blown away when we drove up and I saw the size of the place and then couldn't believe my eyes when we walked past the BBQ pits, freaking huge. The interior makes you feel like your standing somewhere in Texas with an equally big outside area. It was a Friday night and the place was rocking the hostess told us 1.5 hours and we were happy to wait since they have a big bar and lots of craft beers on tap as well as a good variety craft cocktails. There was a nice crunchy exterior when I bit into the juicy ribs that gave it interesting texture. The beef brisket was on the dry side. The exterior could use more crunch and maybe coat it in peppercorn. They offered 3 different kinds of BBQ sauce. I mixed the first and second one for a perfect balance of sweet, tangy and spicy. Disspointed that none of the dishes came with a side dish almost embarrassed for them with the one plate pictured, seriously throw some chips on the plate or something, they are getting a premium $ for their food too. Their fries are exceptional, almost like a crispy onion chip cool how they are sliced but again upgraded price for any add on's ranch dressing, sour cream etc... A place we've been wanting to go to for a while, since it is a drive from our home it has been difficult. The first time we went, we were in the area and tried to stop in but the wait time was insane, so we decided to postpone. The second time was more planned, we took the drive and the place was full but no wait time. We got seated right away. The food was delicious! The pickles were amazing. We've had the spot on our barbecue wish list for a while now, it's just a bit off the beaten path so we hadn't had a chance to go out this way. This last weekend we decided to go on a mini road trip because we kept hearing such great things and wanted to give it our own review. We came for lunch on a Sunday, the football games were on. The weather was beautiful. And the grill and smoker were doing their thing! It only took about 10 minutes before we were seated and the staff was so sweet and kind, can't say good enough things about the service we had. We ended up going with the beef rib special that includes two sides for $50. That sounds steep, but I promise you that the beef rib is so big you will be eating it for at least two meals! We also ordered some wing appetizers and for the sides we went with a combination of mac & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, french fries, and potato salad. My husband said if we wanted to give it a true review we had to get all of the sides! now, her context we lived in Texas and we know good barbecue, and this by far is the closest we have ever gotten! These smoked wings were the best I've ever had! I don't typically like smoked wings because I don't really like when it falls off the bone, but these were really great Hardy wings that kept their form, had really incredible smoky flavor, and overall we're so crisp I would definitely come back just for the wings. The beef rib was also incredibly delicious, juicy, and even though it fell off the bone it was the best beef rib I've ever had. we will definitely be back and highly highly recommend this place to anyone who is a meat lover! read more

We are OG fans of Big Bore BBQ - so it was a no brainer to choose them to cater our wedding. I should start off by saying their process for booking is really simple - and you have a large list of items to choose from for any catering event. Our wedding was about an hour north of the Twin Cities and they accommodated us like it was right in their backyard. The food was absolutely fantastic, and we received so many positive comments from our guests about the food and the service. The price was pretty average for what other restaurants/companies charge for events so there isn't much to complain about on that front. I highly recommend stopping in at Big Bore BBQ for dinner, and if you are thinking about hiring them for catering - DO IT! The pulled pork is tender and juicy; however, the ribs could be a little more tender -- not quite fall-of-the-bone tender. Service is great with friendly staff, but wait times can be a bit long if they're busy -- there's plenty of seating both inside and outside at their patio, so it can affect service speed and bit. Please visit their socials before driving there, especially in the summertime, as they often hold events during weekdays that PACK the place.
