Food was really GOOD! Sauces were amazing. Hours are pretty limited- We learned quickly to make a reservation. Yeah, they are that popular and worth it. Ended up sitting at the bar, which is fine, we're bar folks. But let's talk about the chairs, which I know seems an odd thing to write about. SOMEONE FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT! These chairs were like sitting at home; in fact, the whole place felt like you were at home. It was our first time there, and we felt like we were at home. The only downside was that bar service was a bit slow, but the guy was really friendly, so I wouldn't call it a complaint, but I just like my refills faster. I was looking around the energy in the room was fantastic. OH AND COME HUNGRY or ready to share a plate of food- they are not messing around - I will be back,, WORTH THE DRIVE

We were in the area so were able to try out this restaurant that has been on my list. Love the industrial, modern vibe inside. I chose the walleye and veggies and it was excellent. My piece of walleye was huge. The soft fish with the crispy veggies was a great combination. Our server was excellent. Since we were first time visitors, she helped us make good choices. Would love to stop again and try a few new things on the menu.

Absolutely love coming here! Have ordered the platter twice and on the third visit ordered other main dishes -- the chicken and beef rib entrees. Service is always exceptional! Greeted upon entry every time. Hardly any wait for a table when we have gone. Wait staff and bartenders are wonderful! Once, when waiting for a table, sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender about recommendations. The inside environment is welcoming. The outdoor seating is fun with lights, weather permitting! Will be bringing friends with on the next visit!

Yum! As a vegetarian there was a bunch of options! My fiance said the buddy boy sandwich was AMAZING! Such a fun place too with outdoor seating.

Excellent BBQ and kinda strange to order an Eggs Benedict with beef brisket, but it worked! Nice vibes and nice staff. Others had a Fried Egg Sourdough Sandwich and Pulled Pork on a bun. Ordered takeout also. Will be back.

As someone who loves good barbecue and has tried it across North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and Minnesota, I can confidently say this place stands out for its incredible food. The owner, Joe, is a friend of a friend, and this restaurant was born out of Joe's success in BBQ competitions. He used to serve his competition meats to friends, and they'd vanish in seconds--a testament to the quality. What's good here? Everything. The brisket is perfect--tender, smoky, flavorful, and just plain awesome. The burnt ends are a must-try, with just the right amount of char. The ribs, pulled pork, and sausages are equally impressive, each dish showcasing the care and skill that goes into the preparation. I've tried everything on the menu, and it's consistently very, very good. While I'm not a huge fan of the sides, they do have this magical bread that practically melts in your mouth--an unexpected but delightful highlight.

Sunday brunch was totally worth the visit - they've been doing it for 5 weeks! Our group of 7 made a 10am reservation and was super happy with the food, service, and ambiance. The bbq was delicious (we especially liked the beef, goat, turkey, burnt ends, and brisket), all the brunch items were fresh (french toast, muffins, biscuits and gravy), there were made to order omelets, all the sides/fixings were tasty (coleslaw, burnt end potato salad, strawberry salad, grits), fresh fruit, pastries, and cheese were all lovely extras to add on! The adults all had cocktails and enjoyed them - there were a variety including bloody Marys, old fashioneds, mimosas, and coffee cocktails. We'll definitely be back!

I ended up here unexpectedly and was shocked to pull up to such a beautiful space in what was starting to look like the middle of nowhere. The restaurant and bar are gorgeous. I love the natural light, and the space made me feel elegant despite being dressed casually. This place would make a great wedding venue or high-end brewery if the barbecue ever falls through. There were several menu items I would've loved to try, but I ultimately settled on the Brisket Sandwich and a side baked potato. My server made the baked potato work despite it being quite early in the day, and I ended up ordering the Buddy Mule while I waited. It's not often that I get the cocktail I've been waiting for, and it tastes how I want it to taste - this mule changed my life. I love a drink that tastes like juice. The best part though? The food. The brisket sandwich was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the baked potato was excellent. I ate long after everyone at my table was finished because I couldn't get enough of the fries and ranch. Restaurants with great ranch deserve a reward. This was one of those times I just could not bring myself to put the food down. I highly recommend Buddy Boy for anything from a family dinner to a date night out.

Buddy Boy doesn't disappoint!! We have been here on multiple occasions and always bring family & friends to come along. Whether you enjoy the fancy, indoor seating or the more rustic, outdoor seating...it's always a good time! The Burnt Ends AND Buddy Rolls appetizer/sides are worth the trip alone! The drinks were a big hit too. Another note, they have live music outside! They don't offer service out there, but you can order online, pick up inside, and head back out to listen to the tunes!

How many smokers can one person have? Lots!!!

Recently moved back to MN from CA. Have had my share of bbq from all over. Saw this place on Yelp and it's not too far from Waconia so I decided to grab some lunch. Driving up I was like Holy Sh*t these guys aren't messing around. Multiple smokers in the lot. Two amazing smokers attached to the kitchen. Nice vibe walking in. Bartender was great. Ordered the Cubano and it did not disappoint. Pulled pork was spot on. Bacon was thick and Smokey. I couldn't finish it so took 1/2 home to my 14 year old son who devoured it on the spot. Looking forward to eating my way through the menu!

BBQ but pinky's up! This joint has gotten a big makeover and boasts an open kitchen concept with large spaces, warm neutral colors and still rocking the smokers that started it all right out front. Service is 8/10, while food and watching the pit masters at work is easily a 10/10. Be prepared to drop some coin on this BBQ, the menu does meat by the pound and sides have a lil bit of everything. I was pleasantly surprised by how good collard greens were and the hush puppies... chile' I could just sit and eat those for every meal. Absolutely love this place and can't wait to visit again.

    Buddy's Beans and Potato "Salad"

My dad came here a couple years ago with my uncle and he was excited to take me. We drive over an hour to come here so I was pretty hyped about it! It was a beautiful space, modern and redone. My dad remembered it looking very differently. The brisket and hush puppies were the stars of our show. The ribs were not as tender and flavorful as expected, but the brisket was also so stellar that it would've been hard to match. I wasn't a fan of the beans or the potato salad, as both were twists on the classic sides and had some odd flavor profiles in my opinion. Both those had burnt ends in them but because they were so saucy, the burnt ends were just soggy. It was very busy but the restaurant and staff seemed well-equipped to handle high volume. The process was streamlined and easy!

Delicious Barbeque and super nice place. Full bar with plenty of cocktails on the menu but I imagine they would make anything you might request, large assortment of ice cream at a separate counter and plenty of indoor as well as outdoor seating. Upscale atmosphere but delicious southern smoked bbq. Service was great, waiter was attentive and everyone was polite. I got the Big Buddy and it had a crazy amount of meat on it, side of mac n cheese was also delicious.

My dad passed 8/30/2024 so we came to have breakfast in his old shop to celebrate him. I loved how they kept the building as is with some additions and lovely upgrades. This is it--the perfect place for a summer meal. From the amazing food and great service (thanks,…read moreTheresa!) to the stellar patio, Layline delivers an absolutely amazing experience. If I had found this place earlier this summer, I probably would have spent many happy evenings here. (I truly can't emphasize how well this restaurant captures summer vibes.) The menu was great and ticked all the boxes, taking advantage of the bounty and mood of the season. For our starters, we ordered the arancini and the johnnycake. Both were delicious. The arincini was crispy on the outside and oozed with creamy cheese. The romesco sauce complemented it perfectly. The johnnycake was fluffy and delicious and had the perfect balance of sweet and salty (don't skip the jalapeño infused maple syrup--it isn't spicy; it's just an extension of the sweet and savory balance). For our salads/veggies, we split the last three on the menu: the cauliflower, the Brussels sprouts, and the watermelon salad. My friends, don't skip any one of these. The cauliflower is a cauliflower steak that is perfectly cooked (be sure you get a lovely toasty bit!) and made for delicious savory-salty-tangy mouthful with its tomatoes and onions. Doenjang and tahini? Heck yes! The sprouts were covered in a spectacular mojo verde (imagine what pesto would be if it were Indian and you'd not be far off) that was a creative and absolutely apt pairing. As for the watermelon salad, it was all summer: chunks of watermelon, crumbles of feta, basil, hazelnut, and rings of Calabrian chili. It tasted exactly like relaxing on the porch with your most sophisticated but still totally chill bestie. For my main, I ordered the linguine pomodoro e vodka. Dude. It was so stinking good. I love a good tomato sauce, and this one did not disappoint. Crispy breadcrumbs? Yes. Mint and basil? Yes and yes. Chili oil? Heck yeah! This packed a punch and was an absolutely glorious foil for the burrata. As for dessert, I went for the crème brûlée. It was really good! It was rich and creamy (almost buttery) and absolutely chock-full of vanilla bean. Very good indeed.

Los Niños is made up of brown rice, white cheddar, avocado, black beans, roasted chicken, and a "lime squeeze" that may or may not have been added. I couldn't tell. There was no white cheddar. The roasted chicken chunks were unseasoned as were the black beans. The avocado appeared to have been sliced hours earlier as it was browning. I paid an upcharge for cilantro and literally got two stems, no leaves. I paid an upcharge for Jalapeño Lime vinaigrette, and I got a soupy cup of dressing plus a separate cup of olive oil. To what? Whisk together to make the vinaigrette? The dressing alone was good but I tossed the oil. It was a very bland salad. Hoping for a better experience with the Smash Bowl, the unseasoned chicken, browning avocado, and seriously undercooked brown rice (that's an unpleasant crunch) weren't really helped by the apple chunks, queso fresco sprinkles, or bacon crumbs. I don't think I'll be back. Their takeout *is in compostable bowls but with a plastic lid.

I came here for lunch... then again a few days later! Lol. Atmosphere/Appearance: Located in what I thought was Excelsior, is actually Tonka Bay right off of some water is this gem. It's in a plaza with a few other businesses and a part of a private parking lot. The inside isn't too crazy. You walk in and you are greeted by grand smells of pizza cooking in their huge steel ovens! The menu is overhead and the dining area is to the left. I remember a lot of exposed wood, plastic benches and just a classic looking pizza joint. Service: I can't remember the young lady's name, but Sydney or Candace come to mind. Lol. Whoever it was that took care of us was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. However, all you do is just place your order at the counter, take the number they give you and go sit down then wait for you food to be brought out to you. Drinks are self-serve as well. Food: Throughout my visits I've had the chance to check out 3 of their wing flavors and a couple of toppings on their pizzas. The wow factor here is about big the slices are. They literally don't even fit onto a single plate. The edges hang over rim of the plate. Lol. So for lunch you can order the pizza + salad combo and it totally fills you up. The wings are also enormous and quite delicious I might add! I'd definitely get them again. Cajun and the Buffalo were my favorite, but the BBQ wasn't too bad either. Value: A single order of wings will give you 6 and it'll cost you $10.00. Double your order for $16.50. Like I mentioned, they wings are huge so I think this is a pretty good value. Any time a day you can get a cheese slice + salad + drink for only $12.50. Toppings will cost extra of course. In conclusion, I loved this place. However, coming for lunch and eating heavy makes for a slow rest of the work day. Lol. I ain't trippin' though, sometimes that's what's necessary!
