I had the AMAZING privilege of getting to try Butcher Salt at a wedding. The staff was so professional and so good at what they do! The beginning of the reception had passed hors d'oeuvres and they did a great job of going around to everyone. They were also so nice! The food was pretty incredible. I tried the candied bacon, chicken and waffle, and caprese skewer (passed hors d'oeuvres) and butcher salt slider and pulled pork (main). They were all amazing, but I did hear some guest saying that they wished there were condiments. I thought the meal didn't need them, but perhaps it would be good to have in the future! The mains came with really flavorful chips. They were very quick. They got through the huge line in front of the truck faster than I thought. And the quickness didn't impact flavor. We both got the Chipotle Sliders which come with fries. We thought about sharing and I am glad we didn't. The fries were amazing, hot and crispy. The sliders were equally as delicious and I am getting hungry writing this review. We both received two sliders smothered in cheese, bacon, arugula, and a chipotle aioli. Superb food truck! The chipotle sliders were incredible - firm buns toasted with butter, delicious flavor to both the beef and the cheese, and the chipotle aioli was just incredible. Plus the bacon pieces were actual cut up bacon, and not freeze dried bits. It was easily the best burger I have had this year. My sweetie had the Ranger, a grilled chicken and peppers sandwich, and it was also great. The fries have a very tasty battering and come out crisp and delicious. Walking down from the corner of 7th and Marquette, I was greeted by an extremely friendly host who asked what I wanted and processed my order quickly and efficiently. Although orders are taken using a hand ticket system, they do take credit cards using square and an ipad that allows them to email or text your receipt. The menu is on butcher paper on the side of the truck and changes often. I got the sliders, which were wonderfully juice. The beef had a hint of rosemary inside. I also got the top brown, which are hash browns topped with bacon and pepper jack. Hash browns are ridiculously underrated and it is nice to see them as a regular part of a lunch menu. Drinks are reasonably priced at $1 although sandwiches are a little on the expensive side. Service was on the slow side so make sure you have enough time if you decide to stop by. read more

At these times, Butcher Salt is the perfect food truck. $5.50 Salted Browns (hasbrowns with salt, bacon, rosemary and topped with pepperjack cheese) really hit the spot at these times. The potatoes are browned, as promised, but are delivered more tender than crispy. Rosemary and pepperjack provide the personality. The flavor and crunch of bacon are distant. Butcher Salt also offers "topped hashbrowns" for $3 more. With that, you get onions, peppers, tomatoes and an easy-over egg. I typically choose to invest the $3 elsewhere, such as their "dog of the day" for $5.50 or so. The dogs are 'snappy' and include different toppings on different days. No onion, pepper, nothing you typically get with a quesadilla. And they serve it with chipotle sour cream. Great, but where's the acid this dish needs? No salsa? Threw half away. Update: changing to 3 stars. My coworkers got the works quesadilla and that looked much better. And today I ordered the caprese sandwich and it was really good. They put the cheese on the griddle (I'm assuming because it looked that way) and the mozz with tomato and basil with the balsamic spread is really good. Plus they grilled the bread nicely. I got: *Butcher Salted Browns hash browns | pepper jack | bacon | rosemary $5.5 and * Grilled Caprese mozzarella | tomatoes | basil | balsamic $8.5 Over-all everything tasted pretty fabulous but the portions were a bit small for the price; that being said, I didn't need much more than what I ate, I was definitely satisfied though my wallet would have been a little happier if it had a few extra bucks left. I took a bite of my friend's "Topped Browns" which had everything in the browns said above with the addition of sautéed peppers + onions + tomatoes and an over easy egg. It. was. fantastic. I immediately regretted getting just the salted browns - - and that is a perfect segway into my one piece of advice: If you're there to get some hash browns, do yourself a solid and $3+ up for the Topped Browns instead; you won't be disappointed. read more

We hired Butcher Salt to cater our wedding. They were such a joy to work with and were very accommodating when our wedding had to be rescheduled due to Covid. They set up a personal tasting for us in order to set our menu. It was very hard to choose because all of their food is absolutely delicious. They were able to provide multiple appetizer options, entrees, and a late night popcorn bar. Our original plan was to have an appetizer table but with Covid restrictions this was not possible. Butcher Salt was able to quickly pivot and had staff walk around to provide butler service appetizers to guests which worked out perfectly. The entrees at our wedding were delicious and quick and my personal favorite was the popcorn bar. Multiple people after the wedding told us that this is the best food they have ever had at a wedding. My wife and I hired Butcher Salt to be one of the caterers at our wedding. They were really laid back about the menu and let us tweak it to be complimentary to us. Jean was a delight to work with and a lot of our guests asked follow up questions about who they were. If you only try one thing from them, which is a foolish idea by the way, the Creamy Chicken Soup is awesome. Just a hint of spice but enough to have flavor and not be bland. We will be seeking them out as we hit up breweries in the Cities! Again, would recommend getting this truck for any catering you may need if you are looking for a laid back super awesome vibe. They were obviously processed & Frozen and bought premade from a service. On the plus side the fries were awesome even if they we're cold. They were Herby and made the order worth while. Went here today for lunch - they are a food truck located in downtown Minneapolis. I ordered the Brocky's quesadilla, made with a tomato basil tortilla and served with a chipotle mayo. I thought the tortilla was unique and gave the tortilla such a great flavor! I also decided to try some of their homemade salted caramels, which were pretty much the most amazing caramels I've ever had. During the lunch hour they are busy, but you give your order to someone standing outside of the truck, and you can pay with a card on their iPad. My food took a bit longer than it should've, but the cook explained that she had accidentally slightly burned the one I was supposed to get, and had made me a new one. I appreciated her honesty, and also the fact that they care enough about the food quality to make me a new one rather than serving me something below par. Haven't tried the other food there of course, but my first experience encouraged me to write. read more
