Well here we are. We've at long last discovered a Korean restaurant in Cville (Charlottesville, for you out-o-towners) that serves delicious, authentic Gimbap. The folks working here are friendly, fast, and clearly have a passion for great food. Speaking of great food allow me to speak on this...
I was in Korea visiting family earlier this year, and one of the great privileges of that country is that you can pretty much trip and fall into a convenience store selling Gimbap (which I am capitalizing for emphasis.) Alas, I come home to The 'Ville (Cville (Charlottesville)) and while there are tons of good Korean spots around here they mostly all serve the same stuff. You walk into Six-Ko and you can see the Gimbap being hand-rolled behind the counter. And it's not just a mess of vague meat and veggies in these rolls--everything tastes super fresh, and the meat has a marinade that complements the other ingredients instead of overpowering them. You get this crazy good sauce on the side and lemme tell you something else and I hope y'all are seated the price on this thing is $8.99. I paid almost $50 for five tacos over at the farmers market the other day, and while I don't blame restaurants for boosting prices in this economic climate I will admit that getting an incredible lunch for $8.99 offers a brief, euphoric respite from the insatiable greed that seems to have no beginning and no end.
10/10. I am half-Korean but I am fully-endorsing this business. Great energy in that place.
My dogs are pictured however I did not give them any of this food. They cried and cried. They cried for all that they will never know. read more
