I have mixed reviews at this point. When I have friends come to town, I bring them here because it is one of the few black owned restaurants that I am familiar with (if there are more let me know). The first time we had a great server. She explained everything. There was a saxophonist playing. It was nice. Also tried the house wine and got a tour of the area's north yet opened. Parking is always a challenge because the lot next to them only allows them 3-4 spots. The last two times, the entire space was open including outside. There was security which I have no complaints about that. Servers have been consistently nice. However the last time, the kitchen was backed up so much that you had to wait 45 minutes before you could order food. That told me that they weren't prepared for heavy traffic. The second time there was a singer there , Chelsea, Who? She was really good. The last time there was no music or talent there. I had each time the chicken and waffles with grits. Not much else I can eat since I don't eat beef or pork and sadly allergic to fish. I can do sides if need be. The food is really good. Love the waffles as they don't need syrup or anything. The chicken is light and full of flavor as well. I like the spot. Hope there are more menu items for the non red meat eaters. The food is yummy. Servers are great. My fiancé and I went to the restaurant Six18 for the first time. Greeted very nicely. Had reservations. Sat immediately. Our server came over. She was very nice. She also greeted us with a smile. Asonia was great. We loved her. We ordered an appetizer. Pulled pork macaroni and cheese. It was delicious. My fiancé ordered the veggie plate. I ordered the pork chop dinner. Both were delicious. We both had collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes. Simply delicious. She also had the fried okra. She loved it also. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Visiting Chattanooga for the day and in my search I came across Six18. Walked in and immediately greeted and seated, our waitress Brittany was awesome, the entire staff was friendly, checking in even though wasn't there table. The food was delicious, the red velvet cake, just perfect and the service was fast. The place for packed real quickly but it didn't slow or disrupt the flow or service. I was in my home town for the weekend and had been hearing about this new spot where the Jeffersons used to be. Everyone was saying how they have live music-that's what i was most excited about. Me and my girls (party of 6) stepped out on a Saturday night. At 7PM we put our name on the list and was told the wait was 45mins - 1hr. We were fine waiting. It was Saturday so we expected a little bit of a wait. While waiting we people watched. The vibe was definitely vibing. Frank Bumpass (a well known saxophonist in Chattanooga) was playing that night! He played while instrumentals played all over the restaurant. It was a full house. Singing along to all the 90s R&B was cool! There are two bars in the restaurant. One that's visible from the entrance and one that's in the back past the bathrooms. The bar in the back, was dark lit and much smaller than the one from the front. I assume this bar would be where you would go get a drink while you wait for your table. We waited in the waiting area instead. Around 745 we were still waiting for our table. It was two girls waiting beside us that said that they'd been there since 630 and at 8PM, they were still waiting. I forgot to mention that they close at 10PM ON A SATURDAY. And they only allow a 2hr dining time. At 823 our party of 6 were finally being seated! Now this is where everything kinda started to go down hill for me. After waiting for nearly 1.5hr, they sat us at a table that only sat 4 comfortably!! There would've been no way that all 6 of us would've been able to order food and drinks and had room on the table or to be able to eat comfortably! When we told the host that the table couldn't seat all of us, she shook her had as if we told her the wrong amount of people when we put our name on the list. She then said, while shaking her head aggravated, "I'll find a chair to pull up." Even with a chair pulled up, there was no place for this chair to go without invading the privacy of the tables to the right/left of us. As we waited for her to bring this chair, there was a booth across from us being cleaned. We asked the host if we could sit there and she said yes. I guess we moved too fast to the table because it wasn't clean at all but the host came by and said "he was gonna clean if off for y'all" i said "he still can" and lifted our menus for him to do so. At 845 still no one had come to take drink orders or just to say "I'll be with you in just a moment". A waitress came by and sat a water decanter on the table (didn't say hello, let me grab glasses, nothing), but realized we had no glasses to even drink water. She took 7 mins just to get us glasses. At 853, we were finally able to place our order. We made sure to place our drink, entrees and dessert orders all at the same time cause at this point, we were tired of waiting. At 933PM drinks still had not come but our food was beginning to arrive. Our waitress seemed to have disappeared for a good 20 minutes. They were bringing our food out but we couldn't eat because we had no silverware. We had to ask 3xs for silverware! It was ridiculous! Almost as if they had ran out of glasses and silverware. When our waitress finally came back, we asked that she go ahead and cancel the drinks since our food had already come. She said "they are about to make them right now- they ran out of Hennessy." Now how you run out of any alcohol on a Saturday night and where did they have to go to get more???? Into 5 mins of eating our food, the drinks finally came. Drinks-horrible! Idk who the bartender was but they need to recertify. I ordered six18 lemon drop-one of the simplest drinks you can make. And it was one of their signature drinks. Idk what kind of alcohol was used but it was disgusting. No lemon taste, no triple sec, no nothing. My friends got the Hennessy margarita and it was ok. Everything just tasted boxy. I drank my drink though cause if i would've asked for something else, the establishment would've been closed by the time i got it. For my entree, i got the salmon and rice with collards. The collards was the best! Seasoned very well. The salmon and rice wasn't bad at all but wasn't anything special. I've made better rice and salmon At the house. My friend got the fried chicken plate, nothing special. Wings were pretty skimpy. The macaroni and cheese kinda tasted like chick-Fila macaroni. Wasn't bad but nothing special. I tasted my friends strawberry Belgium waffle w/ice cream. It was pretty good! Sweet! I would recommend they put the ice cream on the side tho. By the time it got to our table, it had melted on top. Still good but presentation is key. At 953 we were leaving. Over all, I'd give the visit a 6/10. They don't open until 4PM so maybe if i could get there right at 4 on any day, service would be better and efficient. I'll never try to come again on a Saturday night but this is the only day they have live music. read more

Wow! This place knows what they are doing - everything was perfection. We started off with some eggrolls with all the southern comfort food inside and had some tasty and well-balanced cocktails. Then we tried the shrimp and grits and the soul bowl. I couldn't tell you which is better because they were both so different and had so many flavors and textures that came together to create a stellar synergy. The shrimp was bursting with flavor while the grits were so creamy. The vibe was chill, the lighting low and romantic, and they had live jazz music playing. We finished the night with a light and sweet strawberry shortcake Belgian waffle with ice cream. The service was quick and attentive, and you can actually order your food and pay online to get the ball rolling if you prefer. They are right on par with Chattanooga menu pricing, if not a bit more affordable considering what you are getting. They look to have a private space for events, they have security at the door for an added level of safety, and I would recommend possibly making a reservation if planning to go on a weekend night. It's rare that I go to a restaurant and wish I could order one of everything - I'm salivating while writing this review. Thank you for some spectacular food and ambiance. This was my 2nd visit. First was before a show at Memorial Auditorium and we thought it would be perfect since we could walk over after eating (and it was). The hamburger was delicious, fresh, cooked to order and the sides were awesome. I am very picky about my Mac & cheese and theirs was great. I also approve the collard greens. Yum! They have a full bar and we had a local brew on tap. Went again for brunch.....equally satisfied. I had the grits with grilled shrimp which was a generous portion. This is not your typical shrimp & grits as it does not have a sauce but it was really good & the grits were cheesy & delicious. It comes with a corn muffin. They sometimes have music on Sundays but not this week which I was ok with so I could catch up on conversation with friends. Our server was terrific. She was friendly and attentive. Please make note they automatically include 18% gratuity on your bill for all guests, not just large parties. That's why the "add tip" section seemed low...I'm totally ok with the additional tip I left since we had a great experience but I didn't realize until later there was one included already. (It's in small print on the menu and I was mostly hungry and wanting to decide quickly on what to order, so I didn't see it) We will definitely be back and I can't wait to try some of the other things on the menu. read more

Locally owned and operated! Great prices! Full bar, a nice and simple menu that does have a very good variety of fish, beef, chicken, and pork. Shrimp and grits? They have it, but try the Shrimp and Catfish (fried or grilled!)! The burgers are juicy and flavorful, the pulled pork bbq Mac and cheese is wonderful! The egg rolls are not your ordinary egg rolls, just try them and you'll agree. The fried chicken sandwich is just like the burgers, flavorful and juicy. The sides are as southern as they get, fried okra, steak fries, collard greens, etc. The full bar did a great job, the service was awesome and attentive.I do recommend calling ahead of time for reservations if your party is larger than four. read more

The most positive thing about this establishment is the music. The ambience is okay like really just okay. I drove 2 hours and gave this place a second chance and I am disappointed. The food is basic and it's not seasoned shrimp was tough(overcooked) the fish undercooked. In the picture I see plates but we were served in plastic baskets . They are extremely overpriced for plastic wear and the nerve to charge 18% gratuity is wild. The drinks were awful...cheap alcohol. Hookah is way overpriced It appears the direction is a high level lounge like Atlanta or Nashville. This ain't that! Can't tell how the food was, it LOOKED good from a distance. Went to Six18 with intentions of a pre-show meal. Was seated by a lovely hostess who was friendly. We were seated and then proceeded to wait. And wait, for any one of the numerous servers that were crisscrossing in front and around us. The table of four on the right of us was seated, the table of two was seated on our left. Next, I notice the four top has drinks and rolls and we haven't been acknowledged. Soon the table on the left has their drink orders taken, rolls delivered and their meal order was taken. Still, servers passed by without a glance or any form of acknowledgment of our presence. A silent waitstaff person finally dropped a carafe of water and didn't interact when I attempted to engage her. After waiting an additional 6 minutes, we finally surrendered to the fact that they clearly didn't want our business. We went across the street to Urban Joint, where we were served promptly by a considerably smaller wait staff handling a MUCH larger dining crowd and our presence was not only acknowledged, we felt welcome. I rarely cross a place off my list without at least two tries, everyone can have a bad night. This is one place to which I will never return. Best of luck to them, I'll spend my restaurant dollars where I feel welcome. It certainly wasn't at Six18. read more

Okay so this restaurant is def giving ATL vibes. I highly recommend you come with a reservation necessary especially for big parties. We walked in and they were gracious enough to sit us without a reservation because the table had a couple of hours before the next reservation arrived. Staff was friendly. I'm pretty sure this is a black owned restaurant however there was a diverse crowd when I went. everyone should feel comfortable here, I kno I was. The food was very good! The prices are on the pricey side but it's delicious food that I think it's worth the price. The owner or manager walked around and checked on tables personally,however I heard no complaints. My only gripe would be that the mini cornbread muffin is just too mini sized I ate it in one bite leaving a little to be desired for me. I wish it was just a little bit bigger or came with more than one. Overall though vibes was there! Food was good! Wonderful restaurant-great atmosphere, service, and food. We started off with rolls as an appetizer, and it came with great honey butter. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and thought it was the best he has ever eaten. I ordered the fried catfish which was excellent. The mac and cheese was outstanding so you definitely have to try that. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday, and there was an excellent jazz saxophonist which created a nice atmosphere. In town on a Friday evening from Atalanta just for a change. Greeted and seated immediately. Nice ambiance. A musician played the Saxophone in the background. I was there 3/3. The server knew we were going to a show and had to out at a specific time. We had placed our order 10 minutes after we were sitted, and after 45 minutes, we had to ask to get our side salads. At the hour and 5 minutes we received our entrées. We admidantly asked for the check. There were no adjustments made to the check for slowness of the service. We had to pay the 18% tip that is automatically added to the bill. No management came around to let customers know what was going on. All we were ever told was that the kitchen was running behind by our server. They want you out in 90 minutes. The food was good but I will not be going back. May this restaurant should get an experienced front of house manager and a general manager to make sure the kitchen and dining room work together. If you feel the need to go to this restaurant, sit at the bar you will get better service there. read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star for the u professional way they run thier hiring process they wasted my time for 3 days after telling me I was hired only to text me 2 hours before I was supposed to get to work to randomly canceled as "thier training process has changed" (what the heck does that have to do with it) then promised to help me find a job at some other hotel bar or something (empty promise) then my number was blocked and never responded to. I then called the lounge and still no answer.
