    Hard as a rock breadsticks
    Marc P.

Food is well below average, most is probably heated up in a microwave or deep fryer. Prepared, processed food. My bread sticks were harder than drum sticks. The band could have used them, literally. Brought me the wrong dish at first, but rebounded rather quickly. Just bad all around. I gave a two star review because of the view of the lake only. The food deserves a 0.

Food was very good and the drinks were very strong. I think it was a good value for the price.

Terrible top to bottom. Angry staff, drunk bartenders, they had a band that was drunk. The 4 other patrons seemed ready to leave as well.

As to the food - my adult stepdaughter said her fried shrimp was the best she ever had; the steak was wonderful and my wife's meal was very good.

The entire staff, with Rivers as the obvious leader, works very hard to see that everyone in the place is pleased with their experience from the moment you enter until you leave. It was the best experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time! The food, service, attention to detail and the ambiance were second to none! I'm already planning my next opportunity to dine at Old Man Rivers!

We each got a different sandwich and they were each delicious. I got the Harvest Turkey - the fig jam is delightful! My oldest got the cubano - excellent! My daughter got the chicken salad - it was good but it is a chunky style, so if you prefer it with smaller chunks it may not be for you. My youngest got grilled cheese - you can't go wrong with that! (It's not technically on the menu but the waitress offered it when he said he didn't know what to get.) Finally, my husband got the catfish po-boy and said, "It's the best piece of blackened fish I've ever had!" (I agree!) The remoulade and cajun sauces were good, too. The varied salt and pepper sets added whimsy to the homey atmosphere, too!

After reading all the reviews we headed south and are pleased to share that everything and everyone we encountered were absolutely top notch...food was prepared perfectly from the breads, calamari, trout and swordfish; and the proportions more than enough to require a stroll along the river after the Chocolate chocolate cake. Our server was amazing and you can't beat the riverfront location and views. They don't take reservations and those negative reviews usually involved large parties and special needs that take time to accommodate. Check Scottie's out, and enjoy! I would have given 5 Stars except for the pay to park phenomenon and QR codes that can be just annoying and have appeared in every major city. Nothing is free anymore including parking. We will be back.

The stuffed mushrooms did not taste fresh and also lacked flavor. The calamari lacked flavor as well and was a big disappointment. The server was nice and set our expectations, advising that some of the items we ordered were more of an acquired taste, but we were still disappointed. There was a server change at one point, and the new server was not careful when delivering the food and spilled the gumbo upon arrival. Considering the price and value, this place is definitely a one and done.

I did Edward's Point and Signal Mountain on a super hot morning hike and decided I had earned a huge sandwich and some pimento cheese so, I snuck in about 25 minutes before closing to get a sandwich to go. Staff were SO nice and welcoming. Telling me there was no rush, I could sit and eat, etc. I spoke to the charming Chris, who went over the entire menu with me and offered for me to sample a few of their pasta salads and pimento and made suggestions. He was the biggest sweetheart. In the end, they didn't have the daily special chopped Italian I'd seen so, I went with a turkey and cheese with pimento to go and some sweet tea. At checkout, another friendly and lovable female staffer was totally charming. My sandwich was HUGE and the pimento cheese was some of the best I've ever had! And, your girl is from the South so, I've had a metric ton of pimento in my life. I really like the location and the vibes inside. Local's gem. And the staff, A+++++
