They prep fake out orders too, so you'll see people coming in to pick up right in the middle of the restaurant. A small pitcher of water is left on the table to refill your own drink. My go-to for Thai food! Sisters Thai has some of the best in the area. The food quality and taste are consistent at the locations I normally go to (Old Town and Mosaic). The portions are good for the price, and the service is always nice. The decorations at their restaurants are adorable and chic. We usually get take out at this location, since it's easier and the inside is quite small. This time we got Panang curry with beef, spicy eggplant with tofu, drunken noodles with beef, and cripsy duck ka pow. All of the dishes were so delicious! The curry was so creamy and flavorful, with a generous portion of tender beef. The drunken noodles were amazing and cooked well. The eggplants had a nice bite to it (it's not soggy). The duck ka pow was still crispy and the sauce was really tasty! Some of my other favorites (didn't get them this time) are their pad thai and moo grob basil. We made a reservation for three at 7pm. One of our friends couldn't make it, so the two of us still went. We arrived very early but drove around for nearly 15 minutes trying to find parking because there is practically none in that area. I even called them under our reservation name while we were looking for parking to let them know that we would be delayed. Once we got there, the woman who sat us scolded me saying that I should call ahead if I'm going to be late because the table could've gone to someone else (which I understand) but I told her that I did call. She sat us at a table for three (we should've told her earlier that the third person wasn't coming) but once we told her she made us move tables after we had gotten our drinks, menus, and silverware because we were taking up too much space at the larger table. It is very cramped in there but quite cute! I just kept feeling like I was in the way of the servers. The food was delicious but the drunken noodles were SOOO spicy. She asked me what level of heat I wanted on a scale of 1-5, to which I said 3. I could barely eat it because my mouth was on fire I saw jalapeños and red paper flakes throughout, and my friend agreed it was way too hot for consumption as well. Normally I wouldn't mind this heat but she got drunken noodles as well with a level 2 heat and hers had no heat in the slightest (no flakes or peppers present). I dined here on a whim with my mom and toddler son for dinner. My only experience prior had been lunch years ago, and I know how well-regarded Sisters Thai is so I was excited to return! The atmosphere is Super cute. It's called the "Living room" and vaguely resembles one with lots of unique seating, couches, and bookshelves and side tables. They do have booster chairs but they fit awkwardly on the seating options. Service was on the slower side but friendly. Went to Sisters on a busy Sunday night. Thankfully we were able to be seated right away. Food was as you'd expect -- maybe it wasn't out of this world, but it was what you want out of your thai food cravings.They were out of a couple of the dessert and drink options my friends and I wanted, which made us sad for those brief moments in time, but our substitute choices were still really great. Friends like the dessert here more than Magnolia where their desserts are catered from, because here you get the best of both worlds, and "at least the cake is moist (during this hour since we came late)!" Their menu is so cute it looks like a newspaper and lays out all food options, price, etc so creatively. loved the little touch! I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and mango sticky rice which, both were absolutely delicious. The noodles really filled me up without feeling greasy after. I asked for some chili oil on the side to make it spicier since it came on the mild side - and it added the perfect kick i needed. the mango sticky rice was simply delicious - i di wish the mangoes were colder and the rice was warmer. my favorite part about the dish is the differing temperatures there but regardless i enjoyed the guiltless dessert. i will always be returning here for good food and good times :) read more

How can something be so right be soooooo wrong! This quaint place seemed at first glance the perfect mix of the eclectic and refined. When driving by the restaurant, I was surprised by its charm and the overall feel of the decor, and the paintings ranged from General Prem Tinsulanonda to General George Washington. The menus are well-curated, and the staff was good (in the beginning). I ordered the crispy pork and drunken noodles. My friend, who also happens to be vegan, ordered fried tofu for an appetizer and a green tofu curry. First the good, my dishes all came simultaneously despite the pork cheek being purchased as an appetizer. Perhaps the servers did not realize one of my dishes was an appetizer. The flavor was delicious! I could honestly order that as a main dish. The drunken noodles were also excellent--perfect spice and well cooked. The not-so-good: my friend enjoyed the fried tofu and was excited about the rest of his food. The green curry looked good, although they did not provide him with the proper utensil to eat the curry; as he muddled through the curry with a soup broth spoon, he discovered an uninvited and most certainly unintended ingredient--a long strand of hair. I understand mistakes happen; he immediately notified the server and showed him the piece of hair, stating I'm pretty sure it's not mine considering I'm bald. The server quickly offered to remake the meal; when the retired dish came back, it looked again delicious. As my guest started to eat his dinner, he noticed something that looked like a piece of meat. He called the server to the table and asked the server was this infant meat? The server not sure, and with a slight language barrier between us, mind you, my friend who speaks seven languages fluently insisted that the foreign object in his food was meat. The server said it's not meat; it's shrimp. I reminded him that my friend is vegan, which means he does not eat shellfish or any other animal or milk product. He ordered a vegan dish offered on the menu, so there was no special order or adaption required. Also, as a caregiver to a child whose liver transplant at eight weeks old was due to someone not fully understanding his dietary restrictions and thinking of my in-law, who is deathly allergic to shellfish, this was more concerning, as explained to the server. The server took the shrimp back to the kitchen and, upon returning, flip-flopped between not knowing what the mystery meat was and how to rectify the problem. He finally settled on duck was added to the meal. After the dinner and after several attempts to contact the manager/owner whom I was told was allegedly delivering food via DoorDash, my frustration with the staff hit a fever pitch. This would be all done, but the manager did not speak with us in person, and when he did, it was only because of the threat of a health department inspection and after waiting over an hour and 20 minutes. What was redeeming, and the reason this got at least two stars, was that the manager offered me a means of making up for such a terrible experience. After further explaining how only give a 50% discount for the infractions minimizes the severity, he consented to cover the meal. I hope to see them one day in the future, and I can come back and update this review with all positive comments. As for now, I would not recommend this place even if it has incredible food. When we go out for dining, there is a three-legged stool (experience, food, and safety). The dining experience and food are huge but most important is safety. I trust when I put an order in, my server will understand my dietary restrictions, properly relayed them to the kitchen, and the restaurant will be a partner with me to ensure food safety and sanitary conditions in the parts of the restaurants I cannot see--this important component did not happen during this trip. read more

You know the moment when you have high expectations for a restaurant and you really wanted it to be amazing but you can't help it. This is exactly what happened to me at Sisters Thai. Let's start with customer service, I ordered two entrees, 2 sides and 2 deserts. I made the order to carry out. When I asked the lady on the phone additional questions about the food and times to pick up, she had very unprofessional tone. Entrees, I ordered drunken noodles 9/10 - it was spot on it was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Kua Gai Noodle Dinner- 3/10 it didn't taste good. Sides: Spring roll was crispy and fresh as I like my spring roll to taste, nothing special. 8/10. We ordered Shrimp cakes- super bland inside and had soggy outer surface. 3/10. Dessert: we got two servings of Mango cheesecake. The cakes were frozen hard like rock. We had to microwave them. I never had to do that to a cheese cake before. After thawing them out they did tasted good but the whole experience was a let down. Let's be honest here, if you are going to spend over 50-60$ on a meal. You don't want anything frozen. I only have good things to say about Sisters Thai. From start to finish, we had an excellent experience. It was a rainy Mother's Day weekend and I was craving soup but wanted something a little bit spicy (and also wanted to avoid the crowds of Tysons or the Mosaic District). Sisters Thai in Old Town Fairfax scratched that itch. They serve up delicious soup (Tom Yum, to be precise) that it hot (temperature and spice-wise) and has tons of yummy ingredients including adorable tiny little baby mushrooms. As for the rest of the food: I have three little ones and, admittedly, sometimes they can be picky eaters, but even they give Sisters Thai their seal of approval! We all enjoyed the crispy spring rolls, Thai fried rice, and pad thai. Hubby and I were delighted with our Tom Yum and our Thai iced teas. He ordered the duck and, while he wasn't crazy about it (he said it was too dry), everything else was top-notch. The ambience is very warm and welcoming. The decor was elegant yet cozy, bohemian yet elevated (there's even a rendition of the Mona Lisa in the bathroom -- if that's not the utmost depiction of class, then I don't know what is.) The part of the dining room we were seated in is small and intimate with plenty of windows, hanging flowers, and string lights. The other half of the dining room looks more like a living room and has wall to wall bookshelves, comfy booths, plenty of framed photos/paintings, and flowers in vases. I can see why they call this location the "living room" -- and, to be honest, it totally works for them in the backdrop of historic Old Town Fairfax. "Charming" is an understatement. Service: we were running 15 minutes late for our reservation (it was raining heavily and traffic was a mess), but I called ahead to let them know that we would be a little late and they said it was no problem. Then, when we arrived, they had our table ready and were able to sit us immediately. Even though it was a busy Saturday night, we felt welcomed and well taken care of by all of the staff, especially our server, who brought out all of the food quickly and checked on us frequently to make sure everything was OK. Sisters Thai is a small Thai restaurant that has an aesthetic interior with its hanging floral decorations and interior windows and mirrors. I ordered the Thai Tea ($4), Tod Mun (fish cakes) ($7) the Duck Curry ($17), and the Chocolate Matcha Cake ($6.50). Subtotal: $34.50. The tea came out within a minute, and the Tod Mun came out less than 2 minutes later. And the curry came out within 10 minutes. And the cake was out in a few minutes from ordering, as was the check when asked. Super speedy service! The Thai Tea is pretty subtle in flavor. I think I would've preferred it more if it was had a more poignant taste. The Tod Mun were nice. An interesting texture when you first bite into it (a lil rubbery that squeaked), but became a bite you came back for with an underlying spice. The curry was pretty creamy and came with big chunks of meat you could really bite into. The curry had a light spice kick and was dense and filled you up. The meat was tender, but the dish wasn't a particular standout. The cake was sorta dry and pretty uninteresting. If you aren't in super dire need for sweets, I'd suggest you skip dessert. It's a cute place and if you're looking for a pretty place that'll get you your food quick, I'd totally recommend this place! What a lovely vintage cafe-inspired restaurant? To be honest I didn't expect a Thai restaurant to look this lovely. I eat my environment when I'm dining so I was happy to observe, soak in and appreciate all the details they had put in the restaurant as well as COVID safe measures they have done. They have plexiglass dividers that are non-obstrusive and still works with their lovely decor. I love the bookcase shelves, cafe archway and even mini perfumes bottle display as well as the piano. Now the food also measured up to the decor. My friend ordered her shrimp pad thai and was impressed. I had tofu spicy curry dish availbl6 from the lunch special and it was very tasty. It's decorated with bright florals, antique living room furniture, and comfy cushions and just makes you feel right at home. We ordered the crab fried rice, and beef noodle soup. Both times were delicious! The fried rice had that subtle sweet flavor, and combined with the crab meat, this dish was so good. The beef noodle soup was very flavorful, not too salty, with tender meat. Meat:broth ratio could have had a little more broth/noodles, but overall still very good. She got a tray of chicken pad Thai and it was my first time trying it. 10/10 would recommend! It is so yummy and they offer a variety of other items and delicacies. There is a small parking spot across the street from them but it can get a little tight closer to the night time. The restaurant is located across from the de Clieu coffee shop where a lot of Mason students go to and is surrounded by other stores and things to do and see there.
