We were in the area for July 4th. I was looking for a place and saw that this buffet was open. Never tried it but looked good with reasonable prices. I'll start off by saying that this is definitely the case where the food pictured in advertisements is different than the actual food being served. I mean it's not bad. But it's also not good as well. The quality really just isn't there. There also doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from. There are a couple of options that you'll see when you first walk in. Then there's a few more options that you'll find once you have more of a chance to walk around. Other than that, I was really underwhelmed. Service is good, especially when you take into context that it was a holiday. Overall, I was honestly expecting more. Apparently, years ago, this place was one of the main competing chains with Golden Corral. I think there's a reason why you'll find more Golden Corral establishments than Sirloin Stockade. read more

Team and we love it every year. Paul is an awesome guy who really loves his job and team. The effort he put into this event was amazing. The food is always hot and delicious at this location. We went on one of if not the busiest day, Sunday. We got there at 12:20 so definitely peak time. I'd say it only took about 10 minutes to get a seat for me and my wife. The place was packed but the lines were moving efficiently and staff were on top of everything. Very welcoming and nice staff. Our server Zaylie was fantastic and really made our first visit memorable. The manager on duty was also very effective and nice made the whole experience great. For not having any seats open they did a good job of keeping it clean and the food areas tidy. Food was replaced when it ran out in a timely manner. I loved the mashed potatoes and gravy, peel n eat shrimp, and beef pot roast. My wife really loved the chicken tenders and salad bar plus great ranch. Dessert bar had everything you could want. About $16 bucks per person weekend buffet with drinks it was about 40 bucks out the door. We were very happy with our experience and even though it's a hour drive we will back for sure. Not all Sirloin Stockade are the same. Their location in Murray, KY is definitely on their game. Restaurant is exceptionally clean, food on salad bar, dessert bar and all-you-eat bar are replenished and temperature checked often. Can not remember seeing employees standing around. Owners are often seen welcoming diners or doing whatever needs to be done. ( busing tables etc.) Reasonable prices. Check their website. read more

I was so surprised to see one of the locations still open! We were excited to visit and reminisce about days past when we visited as kids. This ones a bit run down and looks like it's been in use for way to many decades. Staff was very nice and helpful. Food was actually good, for the most part. The steaks and brisket that is cut at the grill is good and has good flavor. The cheese hashbrowns are really good, and the gilled mushrooms....so good, I had several helpings of the mushrooms. The Pasta Salad was really bland and the Mac n Cheese didn't really have a cheese taste, more like yellowed, wet noodles. We sat ourselves and only after we had started eating did the waiter for our section come over and tell us that the tables were reserved. Instead of switching out the trays, I watched someone come from the back and poor new beans into beans that had already been on the buffet table. The Mac n cheese was over cooked and flavorless. The buffalo chicken wing tasted like vinegar. The bbq riblets and fried chicken were so dry. Pizza was undercooked... like literally the dough in the middle was still raw, grey in color. The only halfway decent thing was the steak that I was lucky enough to get straight from the grill... not a great cut (5oz. sirloin) but tasted okay and was cooked properly. While I know that the cooks and employees change, you would think that the same old food would get better. I've learned to just stick with the salads and my meats (fried or baked). We've lived in Paris for 4 years now, and just got around to trying this restaurant tonight. I, unfortunately, have to give it 1 star. However, it's not because of the food, it's because of the service! When we walked in, we walked up to the counter and weren't greeted, but instead asked, "How many?" We said 2, and the cashier asked us what we'd like to drink. I said, "We don't know what you have, we've never been here." How I think the situation should have gone was something like a greeting, "Welcome... thanks for coming in..." anything... then maybe let me know that we can have a seat anywhere, someone would bring our drinks and sort of guide us in (not a walk through) in a sense of where everything is. Like, point and tell us the buffet starts with the salad bar over there, you have 2 more buffet sections with side choices, before you reach the meat buffet where you can request steaks to be cooked to your liking, and last, you'll reach the desert section... INSTEAD... When I said we'd never been there, so we didn't know what they had, she said, "Pepsi products." We ordered drinks, she gave us a price, and we stood there holding the money out for 30 seconds (which if you think about, is awhile!) while she faced the other way having a personal conversation with the other cashier. When she turned around, she didn't say a word. She took the money, gave us the change, and said, "Don't forget to take your silverware." We found a seat and pretty quickly a server came up and asked, "What did you order to drink?" We told her and she brought them out pretty quickly. That was about the ONLY thing that went right with the service. However, a little while later, she walked by and said, "How's everything going?" and didn't even miss a step to wait for a response. She just kept walking. We looked around, grabbed plates, and got some food. They have a pretty good variety of southern foods. From collard greens & catfish to mac and cheese and mashed potatoes... A huge selection of deserts... and many choices of meat. "Most" of it was fresh, but some of it, you can tell had been reheated from the day before. Anyway, we got our food and sat down, and I realized there had been no tartar sauce around, so I didn't have any. I couldn't find any, and every server kept walking past me, not slowing down, not making eye contact, and not offering to ask if I needed something. I found someone at the drink station and said, "Excuse me." Her back was to me, so I'm not sure if she heard me, or was just ignoring me. Again, she was having a personal conversation with a co-worker. Someone else, I believed to be the manager, happened to open a door from the back while I was standing there waiting for a response. She asked if I need something, and I told her. She said, "It's over at the salad bar next to the dressing." I said thank you and went to look for it. Couldn't find it... when I finally did, I was like, "This is NOT tartar sauce." I don't know what it was, because I don't know who puts carrots in their tartar sauce... but it didn't taste like anything I'd ever had, so I wasn't very happy having the fried catfish. Anyway, I'll skip all the little stuff in between, but the reason we really wanted to try it was the steak. I had to stop a server near me to say, "We've never been here before, so I'm wondering how it works to have a steak cooked for you." She pointed toward the area where there were two guys standing (that I'd walked by earlier having, AGAIN, a personal conversation and what caught my attention toward it was that one was saying to the other, "Yeah, and the m*ther f*cker said..." and I kept walking. I thought, "Wow!!! People can HEAR you!" Just completely unprofessional... So, I looked over and nobody was there to order a steak. I waited 15 minutes before asking someone what I need to do to have a steak cooked because there hasn't been anyone back there to ask. At this point, I felt like a nag and I was asking for too much, but I really think that if I'm going to pay for a STEAK buffet, I should get what I pay for... The server told me she'd get someone and asked me how I like my steak. I thanked her and said, "Rare, please." When someone brought me the steak, it was NOT rare, it was paper thin, and it was really tough. The server I asked about it came back by and said, "That does not look rare!" I said, "Nope, but it's fine (at this point I was just done getting any hopes up...) I said, "But do you think I could get some A-1, please?" She said, "Yeah, let me grab some for you." I thanked her and saw her again about 5 minutes later and as she walked by, she said, "Let me grab that A-1 for you." She walked by about 3 more times after that... we were there about another 10 minutes, and we saw her again. My fiance pointed at her, and I said, "Forget it. She's completely forgot." We found one that was clean that should've been our first clue when we walked around to try to find a table. Overall a decent buffet. The price is reasonable for the quality of food on the buffet. The steaks are of acceptable quality as are most of the other menu items. I was especially impressed with the availability of Menudo as the soup du jour. Most other items on the buffet aren't bad at all. Service was courteous and friendly, with my server stopping regularly to refill my drink and take dirty plates away. They serve Pepsi products at Sirloin Stockade. The restaurant could be a bit cleaner but being a buffet there is a constant flow of foot traffic, and the spills that come with diners serving themselves. The most interesting part about this restaurant is in the parking lot, where there is a historical cemetery next to it containing the graves of town founders, family members, and slaves. Overall Sirloin Stockade isn't bad at all and I'd consider returning the next time I'm in town! read more
