This guy is "the whole package": highly competent, welcoming, and caring for his patients. HIs entire office staff sets the same friendly and competent tone. He gives by far the least-painful Lidocaine shots I have ever received, and he explains every procedure ahead of time and during the operation itself. He told me that he has had a lot of dental work himself, dating back to his undergrad days or earlier, and I think that has helped give him his natural empathy for his patients. As an added plus, his office has ample natural light and ventilation (yes, good old-fashioned openable windows). read more

I have been seeing Dr. S since he took over Dr Moffson's practice years ago. His bedside manner in the early days was top notch and he made you feel safe especially if you had had previous dental trauma. He has preformed gum grafts on me and so I trusted him to do my implant after loosing a tooth. I got my first implant placed only to have it fail and had to have the implant removed. I figured the implant had failed because there was nothing behind it helping to keep the implant anchored correctly. I waited a year for healing and then decided to get two implants and planned the surgery to get double implants to hopefully keep them in place. I was not offered a discounted price to help offset the loss of the first implant and started to feel reserved about going back for surgery. I was uncertain if my jaw could handle two implants but Dr. S didn't express any concern. I did end up canceling my apt only to have the office call me and offer to pay for my sedation ( 2000 ish ) and so with reservation I went through with the surgery. I had my surgery on a Wednesday, Dr. S did not call to check on me the next day and by Sunday I was in unbearable pain and running a fever. To trepidatious to go back to Dr. S, I went to see another oral surgeon, and by Tuesday ( not even a full week ) the implants were already failing. I ended up having 5 more surgeries to have debridement of the area and removal of the failing implants and dying bone. The piece of jaw bone the implants were sitting in lost all blood flow and died and I had to have that entire piece of jaw taken out as well having to have another tooth extracted!! I was then diagnosed with Osteomyelitis and the infection ravaged my entire lower jaw bone, I am now on IV antibiotics until the middle of November ( my surgery was in July ) Take caution when getting implants here, do your research and I would suggest finding a dentist that offers the blood test that tells you what type of implant is best for your body. Just want to help other patients avoid this situation, the extra money to see other Dr.s, hospital stays, trauma, er visits, meds, office visits, recovery and eventually a reconstruction specialist was not worth the 2000 off sedation and lack of concern after surgery. read more

I was scheduled to get a $13,000 surgery with Dr. Sirinian. I had a question for the doctor and called the office requesting a call back. I was told I won't receive a call back. I let them know if I won't get a call back, I'll cancel my surgery. I was told to answer my question I needed to setup an appointment (pay more money to ask a question.) Instead I canceled. I should have checked this yelp page first. I found a highly rated doctor on yelp who called me personally before I even had a visit. I was quoted about $5000 for the surgery and got way better customer service. I am so glad I didn't have this arrogant man operate on me. read more

I can not say enough good things about Dr Sirinian and his staff. He was patient and honest with all my questions regarding his treatment plan. I'm grateful to be cared for by Dr Sirinian and his staff. Dr S always greets me by name. The practice runs on time and I appreciate that. Getting a cleaning by Lenora is an experience I will always remember; she takes ownership of every tooth! The front office (Zandra) provides continuity of care with a smile. I've never had pain with kind, considerate, caring and talented Dr Sirinian. There should be more people like Dr Sirinian. The office is moving to Devonshire in June where there is lots of parking so that's a plus! read more

After a lifetime of poor oral hygiene, I developed a severe case of periodental disease. I saw 3 different dentists, none of whom could or would take on such a big job. I finally got a referral to Dr. Garo Sirinian in Solana Beach. He clearly explained what needed to be done and told me of my options. After my first visit, the hope I had lost was restored. So far, he has grafted bone to my upper jaw, where I had lost most of my teeth. Next he'll put in posts and teeth so I'll be able to eat solid food again! With the help of Dr. Sirinian, and his friendly, professional team, I will soon have a smile I'll be proud to share with everyone. I'll never be able to thank Dr. Sirinian & his team enough, but every time I look in the mirror, I'll remember how they changed my life. Thank you so very much. They saved me!! read more

I normally don't leave reviews specially negative ones, but I want to help others avoid problems. I had a tooth removed and bone graft in one visit and then found out that he broke the tooth next to it. In the past I also had implants done by Dr Sirinian and after visiting another dentist for something else I was told that the implants are mixed metal and not of good quality. When I was in pain and I called the after hour number, he never returned my call. Dr. Sirinian always tried to find a way to up charge and did 3d full mouth even though I had one just recently done by him and charged full price for each time. I found a much better implant specialist who is great and stopped going to Dr Sirinian. read more

I enjoy a thorough cleaning, and know my mouth receives the ultimate experience at this office. Dr. Sirinian always says hello, and demonstrates his genuine care and concern; he's simply the best. As a long time patient, having had several gum graphs, and a long history of periodontal issues, I can't imagine going anywhere else. Dr. Sirinian and his entire team exemplify total professionalism from the moment I walk through the front door, until I leave. Going for a dental exam, procedure, or cleaning is as enjoyable here as will ever be found. Thank you for an amazing experience once again. Mona Angel read more

Was referred here by my dentist for concerns with gum recession on just one tooth. Met with the doctor, who was extremely pleasant, but told me he wasn't concerned at all about my gums. He recommended I come to him for cleanings once a year going forward. Then I was charged $675 for my visit!! It turns out $450 of this were for additional x-rays (my dentist had sent hers). These x-rays were taken before he even met me or determined them to be necessary. When I told my dentist that Dr. Srininian wasn't concerned about my gums and charged me almost $700, she couldn't believe it. Also she didn't understand why I would go to him for cleanings when she was handling that. She referred me to another periodontist who was lovely and absolutely didn't need the x-rays that he had taken. She charged me less than $200 and came up with a plan to help with my recession. I wish I had never gone to this office because $675 later I had to start over with a new periodontist. read more

Let me start by saying that I don't usually take the time to write a review unless I've had either an amazing experience or, in the rare case, a really bad one, to just give others a heads up. This is definitely one of the amazing experiences. Dr. Sirinian is the absolute best! I've had two gum grafting procedures done here, and he always goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and as pain-free as possible. It really did make a dreaded procedure (that I have been putting off, btw) such a calm and positive experience. He's such an empathetic, kind soul, and so is everyone else that works here too. I'm so happy my dentist referred me here, and I'd never go anywhere else if I needed anything else done in the future. Thanks so much, Dr. Sirinian! read more

His advice has always been spot on and helpful. He coordinates with my dentist and is well respected among his peers. I can confidently recommend him to my friends and my family. His office staff is friendly, warm, and helpful and responsive.I can recommend him and his staff with 100% confidence! read more

Dr Sirinian is not to be trusted! He lied about being out of network when he was an in-network provider. He required me to pay upfront. Turns out he overcharged me almost $3,000 over maximum contract allowance. He was notified of his "mistake" and refused to refund the amount overcharged. On top of that, he kept the insurance money owed to the patient. If that was not enough he filed false claims to our insurance. I gave Dr Sirinian months to make this right and he refused. So sad to see a professional treat his patient so poorly!! read more

I recently had to have gum graft surgery due to recession of my gums and instability of my lower teeth. I'm completely terrified of dentist. ( bad experience as a child). :( Dr. Sirinian - was absolutely amazing. He is very Knowledgeable, compassionate and truly cares for his patients. He was able to ease my anxiety and has a calm demeanor. The surgery itself was a breeze. I'm still in the healing process. Thanks Dr. Sirinian for everything!! My initial experience with Dr. Sirinian and his staff was good, however, when he surgically removed a chronically infected implant plus the adjacent tooth and installed bone grafts, he did not prescribe antibiotics for me. A few days after the surgery my sublingual tissues and the tissues under my jaw became increasingly swollen and painful. I reported this to Dr Sirinian and he was not much concerned about it and told me to call back if it did not go away. I ended up having to call him over the weekend due to severe pain and inability to eat. He examined me Monday morning, but because the surgical site looked OK to him he assumed my swelling was due to an allergic reaction. I did not agree because I had not introduced anything new into my body that could have been a possible allergen. He insisted I take Prednisone, even though he knew I had an adverse reaction to it in the past. I was getting desperate because I could not even swallow saliva without severe pain, let alone food. After about six days I gave up and got the steroid prescription. But right before I started taking it he called and wanted me to get a second opinion from an oral surgeon who he knew. I immediately went to that doctor and it took him about two minutes to diagnose me with a severe infection and large abscesses that required immediate surgery and IV antibiotics in order to prevent my airway becoming blocked! After two horrible days in the hospital I went home with three drainage tubes in my throat and a huge hospital bill! Dr Sirinian talked with me only once on the phone during my recovery and he expressed absolutely no remorse. Needless to say I went to another periodontist, Dr. Roberts, and I have recovered well enough under his care to schedule installation of two implants next month. read more

Got a gum graft in Jan 2014, which isn't a fun experience, but Dr. Sirinian is the place to go. He took the time to explain what was going on, how much longer it would take, and several times offered a break to relax. Honestly, I didn't feel much at all. A few days after the procedure, a dressing came loose, and I had trouble taking out a protective stent for cleaning. On a Friday night, I called his answering service for some advice. Within 30 seconds, Dr. S called back, and offered to come to the house immediately to help with the stent. I didn't take him up on the offer, and solved the issue on my own, but wanted to share as an example of the level of service and dedication I received while under Dr. Sirianian's care. In a few months, I will need the other side of my mouth done. There's no question who will do the work. read more

I recently visited Dr. Sirinian for a check-up of my gums. I was referred here by a friend that is a patient of this office. She raves about this office so I went for a second opinion on a gum condition I am dealing with. There is something just great about this office. Everyone there is so pleasant, and genuine. I just felt comfortable immediately. And Dr. Garo is just amazing. He talks so calmly, makes things so easy to understand, gave me options and recommended a conservative approach which I really appreciated. We have a plan that I feel comfortable with and I feel he will guide me the right way. I am definitely committed to his care and follow-up. Thanks Dr. Sirinian and everyone there!! read more

I saw Dr Johnson today. I'm one of "those patients" when it comes to dentistry - I'm terrified, usually gripping the sides of the chair, and freaking out over every little thing. It comes from years of wacky dental experiences, high sensitivity in my mouth, and having chronic pain. I find dentistry terrifying. Dr. Johnson was *amazing*. First, she was able to comprehend the pain issues, and how they might impact my mouth, my sensitivity and my gums. (Most dentists have written them off as irrelevant.). She explained her process, and how she came to her interpretations, without trying to sell me, convince me, talk down to me, or any of that nonsense. It was a wonderful conversation. She was willing to look after my freak-outs - I soon had a weighted pseudo-blanket on my chest (aka that heavy x-ray thing) to help me calm down, another fuzzy blanket to keep me warm, a cushion under my knees, and topical anesthetic so I wouldn't be so sensitive. And in her recommendations, she knew to be cautious - letting me know how my situation played into recommendations, where it increased risks, and where it wasn't a factor. I've never felt so comfortable in a dentist's office in my entire life. Nothing has come close. I'm so, so, so grateful. read more

Very professional and compassionate care! Dr. Sirinian saw me for an emergency, which resulted in an implant. The whole process took months until the completion. Dr. Sirinian explained each phase in detail and conducted several check ups throughout the process to make certain everything was healing properly. The final result was terrific. Dr. Sirinian even phoned after the completion to make certain everything felt fine. I would highly recommend him! read more

When I first meant Dr. Garo Sirinian, Jr. I was quite frightened due to rough dental experiences from my past. This man sat next to me and took an unmeasured amount of time to put me at ease, by sharing his tumultuous dental history from a car accident. His kindness and unconditional mannerism were easily perceived as the characteristics of one 'genuine' individual. For the first time in a long time, I was able to relax and begin to trust. The story that is about to follow the deeply appreciated words I have just shared is in profound contradiction to the anticipated outcome that was deeply hoped-for. This long overdue review was put off primarily due to repercussions suffered from the intensely incompetent care received by Dr. Sirinian. His personal decision to go ahead with three implants in an area whereby he had just removed a seriously infected tooth, proved to be detrimental. Upon removing the infected tooth, he found that over three quarters of my bone around this tooth was gone from the severity of the infection. He grafted bone from the back of my jaw and proceeded to go ahead with the three implants in its place without hesitation, or informing my spouse for consent to go ahead with the implants under such circumstances. The estimated 1-1/2 hour surgery turned out to be over 3-1/2 hours, whereby Dr. Sirinam came out afterwards and expressed how well everything went. Overwhelmed by the procedure and the rapid course of events, I was quite out of it and my husband was quite confused. We were in quite a vulnerable state, due to the deterioration of my health over the last couple of years, and learning of the undiagnosed (over 2 year) tooth infection. By the time Dr. Sirinian performed surgery to remove this infected tooth, my body was in a weakened state from it. Two weeks after surgery, I was still not feeling well, but went out for lunch to get out a bit. Feeling worse after an hour I came home and went to bed; that evening my body submerged into unconscionable pain and swelling. I went back to see Dr. Sirinian and after explaining what was going on he quietly dismissed the discussion with an overcompensation of talk about what a great surgical job was done. He went as far as to call one of his assistants from surgery to show her what a great job was performed. I was talking to an entirely different man that I'd gotten to know. I went home and continued to attempt to understand what was going on with my body through research and numerous medical inquiries. After several attempts made to speak with Dr. Sirinian regarding the type of infection, he would not return my calls. The administrative staff was most courteous throughout the entire process, but Dr. Sirinian did never complied. My life has never been the same since the surgery. The wealth of social media support through individual reviews plays an integral part for many regarding our challenging health care system. The integrity of the doctor's care is clearly revealed when 'out of the box' challenges present themselves'. It is important that we 'stay connected' as a society and continue to share the good experiences and quality care, along with the incompetent experiences and disconnected communication. TOO many have suffered in the vulnerable states of ill health due to 'misrepresentation and lack of accountability' in the medical system. With the social media at our disposal, it is a critical component to keep us united as One for the good of humanity. Thank you and much heart... read more

I just read the previous review from L.A.S and I must say my experience is very similar in the sense that I consulted with Dr Sirinian for a serious bone infection that required the removal of several implants on both jaws. At first, despite the severity of my case, Dr Sirinian appeared very comfortable like this was nothing out of the ordinary for him: he convinced my husband and myself that HE could take care of this infection and place new implants. His mannerism was very courteous and engaging at first. After the surgery and the placement of 3 implants on the upper jaw (and of course a new prosthesis) it became obvious that he couldn't further deal with this case (the lower jaw) and left me with an empty space in my mouth. He started appearing much less confident. While I was so worried with the second part of the treatment because of dr Sirinian's hesitant behavior, I called the office several times and asked to come as I was still being treated in this office. To my surprise I was asked to pay for an extra visit! I then decided to go somewhere else where everything was taken care of including the placement of new implants on the lower jaw that seemed so impossible to Dr Sirinian. In short, we had to consult another dentist who immediately after reviewing the work already done (3 implants) foresaw they were going to fail soon. Sure enough, after less than 2 years they failed and everything had to be removed (implants and prosthesis) and redone. I believe that Dr Sirinian should be aware when not to tackle a case obviously beyond his expertise and competency. read more

Dr Sirinean is Unethical, & Dishonest. The following story is TRUE. I want people to know what Dr. Sirienan is really like. Be wary. He is not what he seems. I entered into a trade with Dr. Sirinean, Design Services in exchange for my Nieces teeth. All seemed fine. I had paid 5000.00$ towards out of pocket services for the teeth, and he was suppose to pay for any out of pocket services also. She had the 1st surgery, which was the removal of some of her teeth. Working with Dr. Sirinean's staff was wonderful. They are truly amazing people. I worked for 14 months at lower than my hourly average rate. I purchased all the paint for his office and home, and my team of painters did a beautiful job with paint colors I had selected. He and his wife were very happy with the service. Their services at only 22$ an hour (562 hours) and the paint (2300.00). I also designed and selected lighting for his entire office and most of his home, developed a floor plan and selected all the furniture, art & accessories to be purchased, While overseeing the painting and installation of the lighting. & weekly to bi-weekly meetings with Dr. Sirienan. AFTER14 MONTHS DR. SIRINEAN SUDDENLY HAD NO MEMORY OF THE TRADE Leaving my Niece without finished teeth. My work and the work of my team including the paint was over 30,000.00. We received a bill from Dr. Sirinean for over 18,000.00 for his 2 hours of work on my nieces teeth, which was made after he had no memory of the trade I took Dr. Sirinean to small claims, to try to at least collect my out of pocket costs and some of the work that had been accomplished in the 14 months. He proceeded to LIE UNDER OATH and was an excellent liar. Unfortunately the Judge believed him. I am left with Paying for his office design, paint, and supplies.while my Niece is without teeth. We have since then gone to another periodontist who fixed my nieces teeth at about 1/2 the cost per tooth that Dr. Sirinean had charged us. read more

Gum repair is never a cause for celebration but Garo made the experience great. He's very personable, e.g., knowing my name in the hallway when I came in a week later for a follow up.
