My mouth is a tragedy. Really, cavities, implants, gum disease . . the works! I have to say also that good dental care, in my experience, has been harder to find than any other medical specialty. Well, I've found the gold standard. Due to both surgery and excellent care by the hygienist , John Divinagracia, my mouth is healthier than it has been in 20 years. This office keeps both doctors and staff trained on the most advanced thinking and technology, and it pays off in terms of patient care and outcome. Encinitas periodontics has my highest recommendation. , read more

I did not have a positive experience at this office. The girl at the front desk (can't remember her name) is often quite rude on phone and in person. However, all the girls in the back are super nice, professional and great. I absolutely do not recommend Dr. Traxler. He was quite dismissive with me many times. He recommended I have a bone graft and osseous surgery for an ongoing issue I was having with gum along back molar. He knew that I had been on oral and IV bisphosphonate drugs but didn't advise me of some of the issues these could cause with surgery. I had major problems after surgery including two areas of bone exposure along the gum line and delayed healing. He was very dismissive during each after visit and said, I just need to have that tooth pulled. I had always told him that I wanted to keep the tooth as I knew pulling a tooth could lead to many other issues. But he did not want to work with me in preserving the tooth and/or helping me to get this area healed. He said there was nothing more he could do, just go to a surgeon. I immediately changed periodontists. The current doctor was kind, caring, professional and worked with me to save my tooth. And all areas of bone exposure have now healed. Please be careful with this office. read more

Dr. Roberts staff is top-notch. Very gentle, polite and professional. They explained everything they were going to be doing before they did it. Dr. Roberts took his time explaining all my options. I then scheduled an appointment for oral surgery. The day of the surgery arrived. They were timely as before, with very little waiting. And again, they were all very polite and friendly. I had no pain and very little discomfort during the entire process which was extensive. I thought I would feel a lot of pain the next day when the anesthesia wore off. To my surprise, I had absolutely no pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Roberts and his staff to everyone; especially, if you are concerned with discomfort or pain. Dr. Roberts personally made a follow-up call to see how I was doing. read more

After nearly 20 years of issues and pain in my right jaw, Dr. Dan Robert's put me on the road to good oral health. I had a complicated case, with a failed implant as a result of using a post with a design flaw that created infection (from another practice). I now live in another state. If I need oral surgery again in the future, I will fly to San Diego. I won't put my trust in another practice. THANK YOU. read more

Dr. Roberts and team not only do incredible work, but are also very friendly and super honest. I had many consultations for gum graft surgery, but only when I went to Dr. Roberts did I feel comfortable going through with it. He talked me through the whole process and what to expect, and I never felt like I was being talked into anything that wasn't necessary (I've had some bad experiences being upsold for perio/dentistry work in the past). The Encinitas Perio team made the rather unpleasant experience of getting a gum graft as pleasant as possible. Dr. Roberts uses a grafting technique that makes the result very natural, and the recovery fairly quick (I felt more or less back to normal in days). I am super pleased with the result and will be going back for a second graft in the near future. Truly an excellent team, super thankful I found them! read more

There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Roberts is one of the best oral surgeons in the San Diego area. I have undergone pretty intense surgeries this past year and a half in which have had extraordinary results. Basically I had implants done in 2018 and when I moved to San Diego and went to Dr. Roberts for a consultation, he said he could do better. He did way better than I could ever imagine. Not only does he do great work, the staff is also amazing and overall a pleasure to be around. If you are in the market for implants, I highly recommend Dr. Roberts as the oral surgeon and Dustin Deering as the dentist. You will not find a better duo. read more

All the five star reviews are warranted. My mother was referred to an periodontist to determine whether having a root canal was a viable treatment Dr. Roberts performed a thorough examination. He is professional and explains things well. The office is paperless. New patient information is entered on a notebook computer. Staff is very courteous and also professional. Office is very modern, comfortable, and even has fast WiFi. read more

I've had about 8 or 9 total surgeries with Dr Dan Roberts with outstanding results every single time. He's a deeply caring, talented, skilled periodontist who takes every opportunity to make me comfortable and do the work of the perfectionist that he is, lucky me! After all the surgeries, my mouth and gums and bone structure are strong and free of problems. My recession problems started when I was in my late 20's and only got worse until I hooked up with Dr Roberts (in my 60's) who has slowly solved all prob's in my mouth. All teeth have been saved. I can't speak highly enough of his integrity, expertise, and the results he gets every time. His professionalism and standards are extremely high and he has a highly trained, knowledgable staff that works in beautiful harmony for great outcomes. They have my deepest gratitude and admiration for what they do and the way they do it whlie making me and my problems feel genuinely cared about. I give my highest recommendation to them. It's rare to see this quality of service and care and with the best results every time. read more

Dr. Roberts and his staff are fantastic! I had a venous lake on the inside of my upper lip and was having a difficult time finding someone that could remove it. It requires special lasers and an understanding of what it is and how to remove it. Not a typical dental procedure maybe but typically only a dentist would have the equipment to fix it. I had spoken to several dermatologists but because of the location of it, they wouldn't touch it. The ladies at Dr. Roberts office were so helpful in getting me in quickly and making me feel comfortable, even though I haven't been to the dentist is almost 8 years. Dr. Roberts was so kind and generous with his time. They did a full exam and removed my issue with ease. If they did dental cleanings, I would have made another appointment right then and there. Wonderful people!! read more

Over the past few years I have had two procedures done by Dr. Roberts and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the moment you enter the office to when you leave, you feel cared for by each of his staff. Dental work anywhere is not inexpensive but I would say HIS work is worth every dollar. I recently returned to the office for a consultation and Dr. Roberts was not available so I met with Dr. Traxler. He too was wonderful; listened to my concern and set up a plan to follow my issue over the next few months. The atmosphere of a doctor's office is also important to me and this office is professional, caring and there is a calm ambiance. read more

Dr Roberts has done two rounds of gum grafting several teeth at a time for me. I've been pleased with the staff and the services. I would post before and after pics, but it's so nasty I can't imagine anyone wants to see that. ;) Dr Roberts is a character and I like and trust him. I very seldom leave reviews, especially for Doctors. I feel it's such a personal judgement but I must say something about Dr Dan Roberts and his team of very qualified, professional people. I have been a patient of Dr Roberts for the past 6 years. He and his team have guided me through some difficult phases of dental work. What little pain I had was immediately taken care of during the surgery's and my outcome was better than I could have asked for. The office and provider staff are consistently kind, thoughtful and professional. Their quality of care is exceptional and my family has been a patients at this office for many years. Dr. Roberts and Associates is a first class operation. I've been visiting there for over 5 years and John is my hygienist. I've always received the best treatment and John works extremely hard to clean my teeth as I accumulate coffee stains from my childhood braces leaving acrylic residue that makes stains easy to stick to my teeth. I feel brand new every time I leave their office. They have very streamlined systems to make it easy and efficient. Lisa is the office manager and has always been the most hospitable. Kelli is the front desk manager and has done a great job treating patients like family! Highly recommended office to visit. read more

If you are considering Dr. Roberts for any dental procedure, the best thing you can do is act now and choose Encinitas Perio! Be proactive and follow the advice you receive from them. I'm not sure what I would have done without Dr. Roberts and his team. They are the best! I have been a patient since 2009. Since then, his expert care for gum recession I have experienced has resulted in highly successful outcomes on multiple teeth in various locations. I only have praise for the wonderful care received! Dr. Roberts has an amazing talent for what he does! He and his team are very approachable and kind throughout the entire process. Each time, I feel that he has my best interests at heart. The office is comfortable, clean, and modern if you are curious. You can tell it is first class upon arrival. Dr. Roberts and his staff are a wonderful team. I was referred here by my dentist for a gum graft procedure. I was absolutely dreading it due to the fact that I hate surgeries. However, the team here was not only personable in conversation and took deep interest in my life, but they assured to keep me comfortable in my time of anxiousness and assisted me in every moment possible (insurance, medications, etc)...On top of that -- the procedure went wonderfully, I healed quickly, and it looks great! I am finally on the road to healing after a 6 year battle with severe gum pain thanks to Dr. Roberts and his incredible staff! I have a complex dental history including congenitally missing teeth, several dental implants in an area with cosmetic implications, multiple failed crowns, gum grafting and bone grafting, etc. I have seen multiple dental providers including three other periodontists in several states and no one wanted to take the time to find the actual source of my gum tenderness, swelling, redness, gum recession and chronic localized infection. Being a nurse practitioner student with almost 14 years of experience in the medical field and knowledge of infectious disease and antibiotic resistant organisms I was looking for some root cause analysis and a long term fix that didn't require long term antibiotics and protected the health and viability of my bone, and hopefully, dental implants. Thanks to happenstance and an angelic dental school resident who overheard me talking about my complex issue, I found Dr. Roberts! To my surprise, he PERSONALLY spoke to me on the phone regarding my symptoms and agreed to see me during the COVID-19 pandemic because of my now-unbearable discomfort, following all recommended CDC safety measures and actually going above and beyond to ensure my safety and the safety of his staff. Fast forward through a lengthy dental and medical history discussion, comprehensive exam and imaging studies and thorough and un-rushed discussion regarding treatment options I was taken to the procedural area where Dr. Roberts found and rectified, in mere minutes, the cause of my long-standing gum pain! I had dental cement irritating my gum line from crown placement 6 YEARS ago that no other provider was able to diagnose. The cement was skillfully and surgically extracted, accompanied by a laser deep cleaning of the area. Dr. Roberts likened the problem to having a splinter in your gum for 6 years.....not my idea of a good time! I am confident that I made the right choice in a periodontal TEAM for all my future needs. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and GUMS, Dr. Roberts and crew! read more

Dr. Traxler was new to the practice when I first came to them with my problem tooth. It was a tooth that had never grown in properly, had had multiple root canals and now was ready to be removed. Dr. Traxler took the time to explain in detail everything that would happen, from the required IV anesthesia to the implant process. The front office staff was also very helpful with their explanations. I recently returned to have a second extraction and implant done by Dr. Traxler. Also, I have scheduled one of my cleanings each year at this office. John did a fantastic job of cleaning my teeth - way better than the regular cleanings that I get at the general dentist's office. Also, my general dentist had done a procedure on a tooth that had been bothering me for awhile. At my last cleaning, it was still bothering me so Dr. Roberts looked at it. He knew right away to refer me to an Endodontist for a root canal. read more

To give context to whomever is reading this review... I have a molar that needed to be extracted and replaced with an implant/crown. (4-6 month process approximately). I interviewed several Periodontists prior to getting referred to Dr. Roberts and the way those Perios described my Implant journey was similar to detangling your Christmas lights...just when you think you're almost done and there's light at the end of the tunnel you run into another giant knot. When I met Dr. Roberts there were a few things that stood out; facility, staff, process: The facility was immaculate and has modern technology - check. The process preparing for my surgery day was contactless. All patient information forms were sent electronically and through a secure portal. Advanced payment option is available to continue with a contactless approach due to the COVID 19 Pandemic - check The staff was professional, friendly and attentive. - check In short, Dr. Roberts is a bit of a unicorn. I just wanted to share my experience at Dr Roberts office. So I had a very warm welcome as I entered the office. This was well received , seeing how things have changed with Covid. Many professions have let the Covid situation change the communication with their patients. This isn't the case at Dr Roberts office. The staff all had a great attitude and I could tell they had smiles as well. The Professionalism was Stellar as well. I was referred to Dr. Roberts office by my DDS. I called Roberts office and was asked about my dental insurance coverage. An appt was made by the office after confirmation. I found that the procedure would require at least 3k out of pocket for 5-6k total cost. I had to pay $167 for the consultation to be submitted to insurance. I found out through the office that they are not a provider with my insurance carrier. So now I'm out the $167, luckily I didn't follow through with procedure after the "hard sell" or I would be out 5-6k since the office misrepresented being a provider with my insurance. Hopefully, the office will refund the $167 and that will be it. read more

The past few months I have had the pleasure or displeasure of dealing with my teeth and gums. The displeasure is obvious. Dental work is not my favorite by far. However, after meeting with several periodontists and oral surgeons, my mother recommended me to Dr. Roberts. My experience has super seeded my expectations by far. I had one surgeon tell me that I was to loose all of my teeth. Since working with Dr. Roberts my teeth have remained in tact in fact some of them have become stronger. He has a soft hand, an honest approach and a very pleasant demeanor. His staff is amazing, very warm and welcoming. Dr. Roberts and his team are top notch. From the moment I walked into the clinic I could tell I would get the help I was looking for. Professional staff and my appointments start right on time which I always appreciate in the medical field. I was referred by my dentist due to an oral condition which was very tricky to diagnose. They felt very confident Dr. Roberts would be able to assist due to being an expert in his field. I really appreciated how Dr Roberts approached my situation to determine what was going. He was able to diagnose what the condition is and provide me some guidance on how I could proceed. I was told that I needed to have a special imaging program to determine what needed to be done with my wisdom tooth and the bridge beside it. The bottom line is that I paid him $540.00 for that 3 minute procedure. After I found out that it was going to cost around $18,000 to have the work done, I decided not to move forward, but I still needed the wisdom tooth to be extracted prior to leaving for Cuba. Dr Roberts could find time to do the complete procedure, or at least part of it which included pulling the infected tooth, but he could not find time to just pull the tooth unless I agreed to the complete procedure. With I feel is bordering on unethical. He was far too busy. to be bothered with such a low profit procedure. I felt that after spending over $500 with him he should pull the tooth. My regular dentist would not pull the tooth so I had to find another surgeon I ended up going to another surgeon who pulled the tooth. When I told him how much I paid for the scanning program he was shocked, as he only charges $200.00 for the same procedure. What bothers me the most is after I paid Dr Roberts $540.00 he would not find time to simply pull the tooth. read more
