We had three other quotes and didn't live the product that was provided by the other companies. Santiago uses Galaxy Stone off North 45 and they had many countertops to choose from and very reasonably priced. We chose a beautiful quartzite and Santiago did a great job with the fabrication of it and the edging was perfect. Just note for the kitchen he only does the removal and installation the countertops, backsplash, and kitchen sink. You'll need to buy the backsplash, grout, new sink (if applicable) and try to schedule the plumber on the same day or very close to so you're not left with no running water in the kitchen. The owner couldn't care less about whether the customer is happy. I documented everything in writing such as "we would like to keep remaining slab pieces; we want our island cut for a flush cooktop installation; etc." and they just couldn't get it right. They had to come out multiple times to get the job done and I finally gave up on being satisfied. We are living with multiple things that aren't precise such as the hole cut for our faucet visibly off center. They only reached out to me to discuss anything when they wanted final payment and really didn't care that I was not happy. Just shoddy workmanship overall and no respect for the client.

It was exactly what we were looking for design wise and a really good deal, but within a year, the particle board legs broke off one at a time and the top had bubbled up from water drops. Knowing that the table wasn't worth saving, but knowing I wanted something just like it, I resumed my search for a better quality table. During a random visit to a friends' house, I had the fortune of seeing one a Pioneer Wood and Steel piece and immediately asked friend where she purchased. She told me about Leer and Greg and gave me PW&S number. I am familiar with custom made works and the handcrafting that goes into creating a beautiful piece of furniture. Leer came to the house to look at the table, take measurements and give us a quote. At the time, he gave us his idea to replicate the table in real wood - and boy were we in for a surprise when we found out how much real wood cost! We literally tabled the idea, it took a while to wrap my head around paying that much for a piece of furniture. In the end, I knew it was the most favored piece of my husbands. So for our 10th anni, I secretly contacted Leer and told hubby the legs gave out and were being repaired. Little did he know that we were replicating the table in real walnut wood. It wasn't until I saw photos in progress that I realized that we hadn't just bought a table, but a functional piece of art. I have had the pleasure of working with the owner, Yotam, on a custom project in a house I bought…read morerecently. He is very easy to talk to, communicative and super reliable. His office is located on the street next to the Jeep dealership off Kirby. He has plenty of samples to show you and is more than willing to give you some to take. Not only is there beautiful stone to browse through with him, but also backsplash, tiles, bordering, etc. I ended up buying a few slabs of a gorgeous marble from a quarry in Vermont, which looks just like Carrara/Calacatta but a fraction of the price! Plus, it's a lot denser than the average marble, so it doesn't stain as easily. The house builder's manager was very difficult to work with, and had already wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to have my stone delivered from Yotam's stone yard and cut for the countertops, and were also taking forever to schedule a pick-up/delivery time. Yotam was accommodating and got me someone else to deliver the marble slabs to the house in a timely manner, so I didn't have to hassle with the builder. He also gave me a bottle of sealer to place on the marble to help with resisting stains even more. Once the stone was cut and installed, I could really see the quality in my chosen stone compared to the standard granite the builder suggested. Side note: This is the same company that provided the beautiful stone to the entrance of Tootsies at West Ave, so you know it's high quality! I'll definitely be using Habitat Stone for all my future stone projects!
