Lots of friendly, helpful staff. I was very impressed by the effort their people made to be sure…read morewe were being taken care of and getting what we wanted. The food was very good and they have a variety of beers (as you would expect!) of German origin. I tried the Munich beer and found it to be very smooth and drinkable. The portions are good. My only issue was with the bratwurst bun/roll. It is too big and too firm to be able to comfortably eat the sandwich without being a pig. I ended up cutting it up with my knife and fork but that defeats the purpose. The atmosphere is very nice, with an outdoor patio area. I would definitely recommend it and I want to come back to try the dessert and some of the other traditional German food.

Unfortunately not the best overall experience. My date and I shared a giant pretzel, which was…read moreprobably the best part of the meal, because of the variety of mustards that it came with. I got single bratwurst, which came with rye bread, sauerkraut, and potato salad. The bratwurst and potato salad didn't have a lot of flavor. The service wasn't very good. I felt like we were stuck in a corner of the restaurant and kind of forgotten about. To add insult, they automatically added a 20% gratuity. I read about some downtown Atlanta restaurants doing this during the World Cup, but this was AFTER the World Cup. On top of that there was another line to add addtional tips!

I had been following Kurt's Bistro on Instagram since the Covid years, but hadn't had a chance to…read morecome out until recently. My initial impression was very poor. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, but were told our table was already ready, so we were seated. (The restaurant tables are very close together, so be aware that if anyone in your party is wheelchair bound, it may be difficult for them to maneuver around.) The restaurant is kept very warm inside, and I'm usually someone who feels cold easily, but even I was rather hot. A woman brought water glasses and a water carafe to our table and said, "If you want something besides water, just let me know," and then walked off. So, in my mind, that woman was a food assistant or a food runner. Turned out, she was our waitress! She later stopped by, didn't introduce herself and didn't ask if we'd ever been there before, but did ask if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered Potato Pancakes. She also asked if we wanted bread service, so we said yes. We did notice from other conversations at the very close tables near ours, that many of the customers are regulars and have their favorite waitstaff. The manager had stopped by a table to regrettably inform a couple that their favorite waiter was out for 2 weeks. So, that did give us hope that if they have regulars, it must be good. The Potato Pancakes were delicious! (I didn't even stop to snap a picture because we were very hungry!) My husband ordered the "Bier" + Cheese Burger ($16.95), and I ordered the Pork Shank "Schwweinehaxe" ($34). The waitress said she had to check the availability of the Pork Shank, so I told her that if it wasn't available, to put in Chicken Wienerschnitzel. Then she didn't come back to let us know what the kitchen said. My husband flagged her down to find out if the pork shank was available, and she said she'd forgotten to come back, but that it was. He also told her that it was my birthday, so she brought out a cute birthday tea light for the table. The food was absolutely delicious, and for the price point, you can easily see why people are regulars there! The pork shank was enormous! (We ate off of it 2 more times after we took it home. The restaurant gave us extra gravy at no charge, too.) The rosemary mashed potatoes were very good! The presentation was lovely! My husband really enjoyed his burger. Then for dessert, our waitress brought out a slice of tiramisu with a wedge of chocolate cake over it, berries, whipped cream, and a little birthday candle in it. Turned out really wonderful! Will definitely go back to this unique spot!

The menu has lots of different German specialties. We shared the pretzel as a starter and it was very delicious, especially with the beer cheese. As a main, we shared the Bavarian feast, which was more than enough food for two people - I would say it can feed three no problem. I really liked the pork chop, bratwursts, and red cabbage. I also got a side of spatzle because I really enjoy it and it did not disappoint. To end the evening, we got the bananas foster, which came with a table side show to make the dish right in front of you. It was a very nice finish to an incredible meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nicer dinner and to try German cuisine, which is not very common in the Atlanta area.
