Stopped here on my way home from work for a quick GNO. Started off with the red Sangria, tasted a little on the strong side but it didn't stop me from ordering a second. I ordered the beggars pouches for a starter and they were tasty little purses filled with pear & Gouda topped with tomatoes, capers, pecans sautéed in brown butter.. quite yummy. I also shared the everything pretzel with cheese sauce which was served warm with a side of cheese dipping sauce. I was pleasantly surprised that the "everything " was not so overwhelming and quite delicious when dipped into the cheese sauce. I then tried the Brussel Sprouts which were sliced finely and tossed with bacon, truffle aioli and shaved Parmesan... if you like Brussels you will like these but they are very light not the typical meaty brussel sprout. Went here on a whim looking for a place that was open after the holiday weekend....btw 50% off bottles of wine is the closing deal for our group. Both servers were nice and and hospitable. We started off ordering, the sear tuna appetizer which came with pork fried rice, which was a chalkboard special (this dish itself I would order double, it was that good) the pan seared shrimp (that beurre blanc sauce was perfect) and the truffle Mac and cheese (these dish needs no words because it's that good. Each couple shared an entree each, the steak frites and the chalk board special seared mahi both dishes cooked to perfection. Afterwards we were given desert options and asked if it was possible to do the chocolate covered bacon that came with the salted caramel cheesecake to be put on top of our peanut butter pie and OMG was that an heavenly. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary tonight. We had other arrangements but our sitter canceled last minute so we had a change of plans. We decided to still go out to try something new around our area instead of our original plan and found this place. Based on the reviews it seemed like a nice place. The place IS a nice place, however is quite small and is more like a bar/pub with food versus an actual restaurant. Our server was very nice, accommodating and took great care of us, his name is Tommy. I enjoyed my Red Sangria and Lobster Ravioli which was delicious. We ordered the truffle Mac & Cheese starter for my 3yr old but she did not enjoy it at all. My husband and I ate it to not complain but I agreed with her, it was a little bland and I added salt to help with flavor. I ordered a pasta with shrimp and my husband ordered the prime burger. My pasta was ok, lacked flavor and my husbands burger was very poor. He said he wouldn't pay $5 for it let alone the $14 he was charged for it. He was expecting more and it was a sad sight. My pasta alone was $13 but for 4 pieces of shrimp there was an up-charge of $10, seems odd. The food was ok, overrated and overpriced. I will add that many of the patrons there appeared to know each other and there was a very homey feel like "Cheers" where everyone knows your name. This place might be cool if it's in your backyard for a few drinks and tapas but not a date night for people who enjoy good meals. Couple things positively influenced my first impression for Sip85: the friendly executive chef, the savvy general manager, their nice looking staff, and a slick interior decor. It is long overdue of having a metropolitan style restaurant for the residents at East Lake Woodlands and Landsbrook. Sip85 doesn't take reservation, which means it is likely you will wait for a table during busy hours. We were shocked to see a full house at 6pm Saturday evening. It is very rare a new restaurant opened for just two weeks gets such vibe. After 8 starters and 2 round of Pinot Noir, four of us were very pleased with their food. It was creative and bold. For instance, the 'Crispy Brussels Spouts' was sauteed and browned in a rich sauce. The flavor of the sauce transform this unpopular vegetable into a mouthwatering treat. Since this was our first visit at Sip85, we didn't order any entree; however, we saw waiters brought out nice sizzling juicy steaks on a wooden board to our next table, and they devoured. I will definitely order the steaks at my next visit. By the way, our bill including tips are little less than 200 dollar, about 50 dollar per person. Couple things need improvement: First, due to the material used for their interior renovation, there was nothing to absorb the sound in this medium size restaurant. From scale 1 to 10, the noise level inside is 9. It was too noisy to make any decent conversation. Second, the restaurant is next to a Gym and its parking lots are limited, not mention the potential conflicts between sweaty dudes and tipsy chicks when they back up their cars. So, it is wise to park away from the restaurant. There are plenty parking spots. Third, the talented executive chef works in a small kitchen, in addition of the increasing popularity of the restaurant, the time from you put down your order to the food on your table is approximate 20 to 25 minutes, so don't wait and just order, the food is excellent. I really like Sip85 and I have invited my friends to join me for happy hour drink soon. I sincerely hope Sip85 be successful and decide to stay at this area, so we East Lake and Landsbrook folks have the pleasure to continue venture the creative and delicious food at Sip85. read more

Went with a friend on a Saturday night for tappas and wine. The food was great as always, but the dining area was so loud we had to shout across the bar table to speak to each other. An obviously drunk man and woman were seen coming out of the ladies restroom hanging affectionately all over each other. The bartender erupted with cheers for " the happy couple". The woman sat back at the bar getting free drinks. She was so drunk she laid her head on bar. The man was getting back slaps from friends. We stopped here on Friday afternoon. My friend and I were looking for a glass of wine and some appetizers. We had an awesome time. The cheese and meat plate was huge. The Brussel sprouts were probably one of the best things I have ever tasted and the filet tips were juicy, tender, and had an awesome peppery gravy. We had the house red blend, called Mischief, on happy hour for only $4. It was delicious, not too sweet or too dry. Tom was a fantastic server. Attentive but not overbearing. The meats and cheeses were very cheap, the presentation was poor, and there was no explanation of what we were eating. The service is great and atmosphere is very friendly. It's a fun, hip, little dinner and drinks place. The tuna was good, and the Brussels sprouts were good. We also ordered the calamari and deviled eggs, which were both really good. We also had the cheese platter app as well and that was simple yet excellent and our favorite part of the dinner. The place is very loud with not a lot of noise dampening décor. The only critique is that the space is a little narrow with 4 top high top tables as most of the seating down the side wall of the restaurant. The plates they use for apps and entrees is ridiculously huge for the small portions. The main dish we ordered was tuna but the 4 slices of tuna came out on a plate almost as big as the table and not needed at all. The tuna was prepared well but it looked like the plate was Antarctica. Overall I would recommend it as a nice place and nice atmosphere but the prices were a little high for the serving you get. The wine list could be a little more extensive as well. read more

We got a $100 Gift Card to Sip85 as a wedding present from one of my best friends. We did not know anything about the place, but after eating at Sip85 last night, this gift has rocketed to the top of our wedding gift list and has claimed the title of "BEST WEDDING GIFT." We started with the brussel sprout appetizer, and they were so good, we ordered another one at the end of the night to take home so we could have it again at home, it also showed up in our dreams that night.....The Brussel Sprouts are that good people! We then ordered the Short Rib Meatballs, i won't be short in my praise of this dish. Two meatballs, one for each of us. They didn't stay on the plate long. Would definitely order them again on our next visit. Sip Dusted Wings and Truffle Mac and Cheese came next and i have to say. that i have never had a textured wing like the Sip Dusted Wings. They were a combination of fried and grill, which gave them a crispy almost perfect flavor, with the dusted chili dry rub. As a fan of wings, i can honestly say, these are some of the best wings I have had, the different favor and texture, separate them from anything you find at other places when it comes to wings. Order and you will see what i am talking about. The Truffle Mac and Cheese was wonderful as well. It has a little kick of spice to it that was not overpowering, but just right for the dish. it was a nice addition to our spread of food that we ordered. For our main course, we went with the 14oz Double Cut Pork Chop with mustard maple glaze, after eating all those appetizers, we were able to mustard up enough to each take down one of these pork chops and it was incredible. Right amount of Char, right amount of maple and mustard that made each bite memorable and well worth ordering again in our opinion. While eating all this we were at happy hour prices for wine, we each had 2, $4 Pinot Noir glasses to go with this entire meal. We had no room left for dessert, but we did order Carmel Sea Salt Cheesecake with Chocolate cover bacon strip to go, along with the Brussel Sprout app from above. When we got home the cheesecake was the perfect night cap to a wonderful experience we had a Sip85. Our bill in total was $100.58 cents for everything to eat and drink. The atmosphere, the service (JILL), the food, and the fun we had at Sip85 was priceless. It was the best date night my wife and I have ever had. We will definitely make trips back to Palm Harbor to visit this place. You have a customer in Wesley Chapel, who will tell anyone that will listen that Sip 85 is 5 stars, if there was a 6 star Sip85 would get it. My friend who gave us the gift card is getting a well deserved THANK YOU card from us, for this delicious date he gave a newlywed couple. Well done, Sip 85 we will be back again and again.
