Yum yum yum is all I can say. Been here a total of three times so far. I haven't had a bad dish yet. First I will say reservations are a must as the place is very cozy. I have tried the NY strip and it was amazing. The truffle Mac n cheese is to die for. Caprese salad is so fresh. The mash potato is so creamy. The staff is always very knowledgeable and attentive. Let me just say this was a place to unwind. Right up the block from my old job and the time of opening could have been better. Met with my coworkers and Sean had been the most pleasant funny not overwhelming presence in this place. He was the reason why we kept going back. He allowed substitutions for a friend because of her sever allergies and our night just kept getting better. Let's talk wine.... that is all we would rather drink it and we did . Good wine and beer selection. We thought the brussel sprout appetizer was pretty dry though it tasted pretty good. My daughter's pasta dinner was tasteless. My steak frites was medium, not as ordered medium rare. It is a kabob which was not obvious on the menu. The barbeque chicken sandwich was pretty plain and not very good. They ran out of Coke at 6:30, ran out of the Grouper special at 6:45 and out of steak at 6:50. Overall not very good. The service was good. read more

If you are with a group, some prefer wine, some prefer beer, and all want a little something to munch on, this is the perfect spot to take everybody. They have about 10 beers on tap, with some main stream like Michelob, Stella Artois and Shock Top, and some local craft like Cigar City, Coppertail and 3 Daughters. For wine, you can get a glass of cab or chardonnay for $9, or open a bottle of Nickel & Nickel or Caymus for $135. There is even an organic wine section! Most on the list are well known labels, so drinkers shouldn't have a hard time picking one they like. Take note that they don't do cocktails. There are not a lot of food options, but tapas food like calamari, truffle fries, deviled eggs, wings and burgers, great to pair with your drinks. Our fave is their lamb lollipops. Service is great, attentive but not intrusive. Their comment on the beers are also very on point, helping me to steer towards ones I may like. Tonight I ordered the $42 strip steak medium rare. When I cut it it was definitely medium not medium rare. There wasn't any pink or red. I eat out five times a week and have eaten steak in more than 49 countries and 400 restaurants. This steak was medium. I was sitting at the bar and told the bartender that my steak was over cooked. She said no problem we will make you another one. She took the steak to the kitchen to the chef/manager. The chef manager came out and said it the lighting in the restaurant- this is a perfect medium rare. Although I had already viewed it with my IPhone flashlight. I took one bite and said this steak is medium not medium rare. I put it on a side plate and gave it to the bartender. She was very polite and said no problem, we'll make you a new one. She took the steak back to the chef/manager. The chef/manager proceeded to bring the steak out from the kitchen and rudely threw it in the trash in front of me with disgust and an unbelievable attitude. I told the bartender I didn't want a new steak just bring my check for my wine and I left. They charged me for two side veggies that were with my steak. Wrong. Unprofessional. Rude. read more

Take your hard earned $$ elsewhere ! Great food but unfortunately poor customer service!!  I made Christmas Eve reservations at SIP85   three weeks in advance for 5:30 pm for 4 people ( 3 and a high chair for my 10 month old daughter ).  On Christmas Eve at 4pm the manager calls me to "confirm" my reservation and asks me about the note regarding needing a high chair. I said " yea we'll be there and yes it's 3 and a high chair".  He proceeded to studder while telling me he doesn't think he can accommodate me because all they have are high tops and tells me that in addition to that their high chairs won't fit a 10 month old I'm confused as most restaurant highchairs are similar and pretty straight forward. I asked what he means and he said "I don't have kids but I wouldn't put a 10 month old in this high chair but maybe you would ". I said " you are calling me an hour before I leave my house to come to your restaurant to tell me that you can't accomodate me on Christmas Eve". This is when he started back pedaling and asking how long we think we'll be there. I told him not more than an hour and a half as we have a 10 month old with us . He told me that's fine we'll try to accommodate you  and asked if we can come 10 minutes early. Needless to say I called back and cancelled because of his poor customer service and problem solving skills. As a restaurant manager it is YOUR job to figure it out and accomodate your guests who have had holiday reservations for weeks ! Don't call me an hour prior and tell me you can't have my family at your restaurant. I can't help but think this guy didn't want us there because we have a 10 month old baby and was looking for every excuse under the book to not have us dine with them. He also told me he would send me a picture of the high chair so I can see it which he never did prior to me calling back to cancel which proves that he didn't want a child at his restaurant! Problem solved pal, I will never step foot in your restaurant again ! PS my child is literally an angel sent from heaven in restaurants as she's been going out since she was 12 days old  and you shouldn't judge everyone with a kid! I'll take my money to other better restaurants with and without my child instead  ! How do you do this to someone on a holiday?! read more

My best friend and I had a great time at Sip85 last night! We grabbed a high-top table by the front window and cashed in on the Chalkboard wine deal that we discovered on Yelp. Sip85 was featuring the Lost Angel bottle for the evening and we both enjoyed a glass of the Cabernet. Our server took the time to detail all of the evening specials and then left us some time to peruse the menu. Based on server and Yelp recommendations, we started with the Brussel Sprouts appetizer which were DELICIOUS. The sprout leaves were fried dark and crisp - the best way to enjoy this vegetable! They were cooked alongside pancetta and a Parmesan (or similar) cheese. This starter was so good that we let it sit on our table all evening, unable to decide when we would be tired of the large portion we were served. For dinner, my friend ordered the Sesame Seared Tuna and I ordered the Penne Pasta with chicken. Our server graciously allowed us to sip and snack on the appetizers before putting in our entrees. We were there for a catch-up sesh and so many restaurants rush you out the door to flip tables. This was not the case at all, a welcomed feeling that I would praise them for. Upon receiving our entrees, there was a taste within the pasta dish that I was immediately adverse to. I hate to complain about food at a restaurant, especially if I have already asked about all of its ingredients...but our server was receptive enough to pick up on the fact that I was having a difficult time consuming my entree of choice. She went back to speak to the chef who later came out to the table to explain the ingredient that might have caused the unpleasant flavor (it ended up being something I cannot pronounce but possibly something that was reminiscent of an olive flavor). The chef took the time to ask what I was expecting of the pasta and returned to the kitchen to whip up something new. Shortly after, he brought out a creamy chicken pasta that was so rich and palate-pleasing. I am always worried about offending or insulting a chef/restaurateur but at no point did the chef look put out or displeased for having to go an extra distance to help satisfy our table. Based on the crowd from last night, Sip85 seems to have a fairly loyal following amongst the locals, but if you find yourself in the area or are just looking for a new dinner/happy hour spot, check them out! First off, I'd like to suggest reservations! We were there Friday at 1830 and it was busy! A table of 4 and we tried a variety of reds, but settled on a red blend. Our waitress was quick and kept our glasses full!!!! 2 filets, 1 NY strip and 1 pesto chicken pasta after our charcuterie board for 4 was inhaled! We had a side of meatballs, OUTSTANDING!!!!!! We went here for an early Father's Day dinner and had a really nice time. Our server was very attentive and quick. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. I had the BBQ Yardbird Sandwich, which has chicken, cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, and a pickle on ciabatta bread with French fries. The fries are hand cut with parsley sprinkled on top...so yummy! My mom got the truffle fries which were great too...either would satisfy. We also had the salty caramel cheesecake, which was yummy, but didn't really have a flavor of salty caramel. Overall I would recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy some wine or beer (they have a nice selection), watch some sports, and eat flavorful food. My meal was fantastic! Came in around 5:15PM, plenty of seating at the bar. The aroma of the kitchen filled the restaurant as I waited for my meal. The seared sesame tuna was first and this was very tasty. The tuna was well seasoned and the half portion is the perfect size for an appetizer. Next I had the steak frites and Mac and cheese. It was a long time coming. This spot was bookmarked in YELP and an unexpected date night gave us the chance to try it out We sat at the bar. Trendy at atmosphere with 8-10 tables inside and some outside too. Three big screen TVs on with NFL playoff game on. Very nice. Menu is not big but good variety. We opted for wine by the glass and appetizers. Wife had Reisling, I went with Red blend, Rhiannon. Both were solid and reasonable by the glass Food- meatballs. Two large meatballs with marinara served on a crustini with ricotta cheese. Amazing! Filet tips were solid, not on par with meatballs. We got two side wedge salads that were right size, served cold and tasty. Desserts we got sppe pie that rocked. We got chocolate cake to go. Service was great. We will be back to try more items! He attended to us & treated us so nicely, I thought he was the owner. He treats his profession as if he were the owner. A+++++++++++ for Thomas!! My new favorite!! Great restaurant/wine bar in East Lake. The atmosphere here is amazing, perfect for a date, wine with the girls (or guys), or even a cocktail by yourself at the bar. The staff is SO friendly. Our waitress (forgive me, don't remember her name, but long blonde hair, young and adorable) was so accommodating and sweet. Reasonable prices and food was excellent. If you are considerate and intelligent enough to care about Covid precautions, I would highly advise against going here unless it's during a weekday when it will be slow. Sip85 is exactly what East Lake needed. Sip is an upscale place to have a drink with friends or to have a drink after a long day at work. The atmosphere and decor are awesome and the staff is not only friendly, but also knowledgeable about the food, wine and beer that they serve. The food is outstanding and Chef Rob's cuisine vision should be applauded. My compliments to both Chef Rob, for the delightfully delicious food, and Brent for bringing this beautiful vision to East Lake. Also had the truffle oil mac and cheese. Fair warning when you eat this delectable side: you well never view macaroni and cheese the same again. Seriously the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. Simply delightful. Date and I ordered a couple different wines off the happy hour menu - not a great choice - and a few apps. The food was pretty blasé and truly overpriced for the quality. The caprese salad boasted housemade mozzarella but it didn't look different and didn't have any more flavor than anything store bought. Also had filet tips that were over cooked and dry - we asked for some aioli to give it some moisture. Service was nice though.
