Yes, yes, yes!!! I am so happy that I discovered this wine & cheese delight! I loved everything about this place. It was a bit small in side- so if you have a large group, you might need to sit at a few different tables. I loved the wine flights that they offered. What I really loved was their create your own charcuterie board option. There were 4 of us, so we decided to each pick 1 cheese/meat. There were so many choices!! I loved that it came with a pairing as well (like jam or apples). We came here before dinner, so we only kept to the cheese. I cannot say enough good things about this place! The food/drinks, immaculate. The service, immaculate. The overall atmosphere in general, immaculate. Our hidden little gem. Stooped by mid week and guess what? $2 off a glass a wine special only on Wed. Things were a little slower and less of the usual weekend crowd. But the place had a nice vibe, great wine down music and the staff were Attentive. I'm allergic to vow based cheeses and love that this place has sheep and goat cheese options. They also modified one of their grilled cheese sandwiches to all goat/sheep non cow based cheese for my intolerance. I did add a meat option to the grilled cheese. OmG! A must try. Wine selection is vast and the staff offer great pairing options. The jellies that accompany the cheese choices are different and tasty. My fav is the Meyers lemon jelly with the truffle goat cheese. Cheese, meats and wine! What more could you ask for? We ponied up to the bar at Cheese Please on a rainy Friday night. This place is so cute!! You can pick a choose from flights or create your own. We ordered a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir and ordered all the meats and cheeses. My favorite cheese was the one with the potatoes chips infused. The honey that was paired with our selections were also delicious. They have a great selection of wines, meats and cheeses for purchase to take home too. Why 4 stars? Because it's a lovely place for wine and cheese. --- --- --- Cheese Please is one of those places that was on my to-do list for years, but I'd never actually gotten around to stopping in, until recently. I've been told for quite some time that it's a really unique experience, and judging by the reviews, a very popular one, as well. We ended up just coming in to enjoy some bites and sips, rather than booking the full tasting experience. My wife and I, along with our friend, sat in the corner and poured over the menu to decide which goodies to order. We had a couple things marked as musts, but really went off of the server's recommendations for which cheeses to order. But as for the things I knew were a must - grilled cheese sandwiches. Particularly, the Ocean's Twelve and Batman & Robin. They were both solid sammies, but I ended up liking the Ocean's Twelve a bit better. As for the other stuff, I let my wife chow down on that, since I ate the majority of the two sandwiches, but I did try a few bites of things - prosciutto, horse radish cheddar and the honey. All of those were really everything I could have hoped for. Throw in a few glasses of the wine for the group and our bill ended up over $100. While I enjoyed my experience, it didn't *quite* seem worth that price tag, but I'd definitely come back again - especially if I'm with a huge wine and cheese fan. read more

Cheese Please is a bit like the wardrobe from the Chronicles of Narnia. Upon entering, this appears to only be a small cheese shop, but as you make your way through the store you will discover a hidden bar, Clooney's, in the back. Wine and cheese are my spirit animals so it is no shocker that I love Cheese Please! This cheese shop/wine bar offers an impressive selection of fine cheeses and charcuterie, gourmet cheese sandwiches, and lots of wines to choose from. My husband and I will usually stop in and have a glass or two of wine and split a cheese and charcuterie board. This dark and intimate bar has a very fun and quirky atmosphere. You may have guessed from the bar's name that the owner is a fan of George Clooney. You will find pictures of George Clooney all over the bar, including a life sized cardboard cutout of George! You will also find lots of signs with sassy quotes scattered throughout the bar. The cheese selection never fails to impress! Some of my favorites are the St. Angel triple cream brie, goat cheese with figs, and the sticky toffee cheddar. The cheeses are all perfectly paired with crackers, dried fruits and nuts, and jelly and chutney. They have this bacon chutney that is so good that I could eat it by the jar! Besides the amazing wine and cheese selection we keep returning because of the amazing owner, Michael. Michael is so friendly and welcoming and never makes us feel bad for bringing a stroller into his bar. I visited Cheese Please with a group of 5 for a Friday evening tasting. The tasting was Spain vs. Italy. Cheese Please has a small bar that you can order wine and cheese from outside of the tasting. There is also a retail area in the front where you can purchase wine, cheese and condiments. The tasting was from 7:00 to 8:00. It included four types of wine and four types of cheeses. The cheese was served on a cracker sized slice of bread first without a jam or topping then with one. I was a little confused about the process at first but then caught on. The serving size is a tasting, so you will need dinner in addition unless you fill up quickly. The hour went quickly and the wine and cheese were good but nothing about the entire menu experience was great. Nothing made me say to myself, I really need to return and do this again because everything was so great, I learned so much and this was so entertaining. They do try to teach a bit about the wine and a bit about the cheese in a playful way. It would be great if the tasting was a little longer and included a little more about information about the wine and cheese. read more

It had been a while since my friends and I went here, so we decided to stop in for happy hour/dinner in the bar (Clooney's.) Cheese Please also has fun tastings on Friday and Saturday nights but you have to sign up in advance. In the bar they have a nice selection of wines by the glass as well as sparklings like prosecco, which is what I started with. In addition to getting cheese and meat platters, you can also order one of their four specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, which are all named after George Clooney movies/shows. The Ocean's 12 is their most popular, and that is what my friend got. I like it hot (and spicy), so I got the Three Kings and it is absolutely delicious! I Think it is better than the Ocean's 12 but that is good too. I switched to red wine when I ordered the sandwich, and it paired perfectly. Our bartender/sever was great as well. The Cheese Place is such a great vibe with large variety of cheeses up front, then a quaint wine bar in the middle and seating in the back. Great little place in South Tampa. It's located in a large strip mall with plenty of parking. From the outside it looks like a very small place but as you enter there's the cheese shop in the front, then you make your way to the bar with several tables and seating areas and in the back there's a private room for events and the wine and cheese pairings that they have on Friday and Saturday nights if you reserve in advance. We found our way to the bar. They have a great wine list and an even better choice of cheeses and some meats for a charcuterie board that you choose. There are also several artisan grilled cheese sandwiches available. The bartender was great, full of wonderful recommendations for the wine and the cheese. We had three cheeses ($15 total), potato chip gouda, whiskey Cheddar and grand noir blue cheese. All the cheese were great, but the grand noir blue cheese was my favorite. Paired very nicely with my Federalist cabernet. Also had the "Facts of life" grilled cheese:  French Triple Crème Brie, Raspberry Jalapeno Compote, Crispy Apples. It was delicious and nice and sweet. The owner, Michael, has an admiration for George Clooney, hence the name above the bar, Clooney's. Great place for a girls night out, a date or just a get together. I was genuinely impressed with this little cheese/wine shop/bar. The service was excellent and very informative. The employee helped my friends and I decide on which meats and cheese would best fit our pallets. I don't eat pork or mushrooms, and my friends don't care for goat cheese. The meats we went with were for my friends; and the cheese and Jams were for all of us! It was delicious!! I was very thirsty that day and I never once had to ask the employee to top off my water glass. She was on it and very attentive to any needs we had. This is an awesome little hidden gem in the Palma Ceia neighborhood on S. MacDill Ave. It's in the same shopping plaza as The Brunchery and Pane Rustica restaurant. Parking gets pretty packed during peak weekend ours. It shares the same a lot within the shopping plaza. The tenant space it's located in remind me of a New York retail tenant space. For example, it's narrow and unexpectedly long as you head towards the back (where there is more seating). They have wine themed decour all over the walls, etc. The staff did a good job helping us understand what's going on with the menu. They have a pretty decent assortment of gourmet style grilled cheese sandwiches and charcuterie combinations. As for the wine, the price per glass was a little bit higher than I'm used to, but they were decent. I can get behind the hype. 110%. My friend and I met - decided to get a glass of wine each and split a cheese board (3 cheeses with 2 meats). We each paid about $26 before tip - so it is a bit pricey, but it such a cute (tiny) spot! The potato chip gouda, the whiskey cheddar, the truffle sheep cheese (with honey) was deliciousness. Love everything about this place! I stumbled upon this gem a few years ago during a Paint nite event. I've been several times since. Michael and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The tastings on Thurs, Fri and Sat are really fun! I'd recommend a reservation for a tasting as they can get very busy! The toasted grilled cheese sandwiches are amazing! If you are looking for a nice dinner before a tasting then go next door to Pane Rustica, otherwise order a grill cheese from Cheese Please either before or after the tasting! We came in tonight for the 'Grilled Cheese & Wine Tasting'. I'll start by saying the grilled cheese tasted good enough and the wines were good, too. However, for over $100 for two people we expected way more. I'm total, we were served the equivalent of one grilled cheese sandwich (1/4 a sandwich each tasting) and maybe 1.5 glasses of wine total. We expected even the slightest explanation of the wines we were tasting and why they were being paired. The biggest explanation the room got was "this wine is a Pinot noir". This was not a wine tasting or a pairing. It was a sample course for $50 a person. Had we known this is what we were going to get, we would have gladly sat at the bar to pick the brain of the bartender while ordering food. We could have easily spent $50 a person and have gotten a sandwich, a few glasses of wine, and not been forced to sit with other diners. For a place that specializes in wine & cheese, we expected quite a bit more for that price tag. While I may recommend coming here for a few glasses of wine at the bar, I can not recommend a tasting. read more

WOW what a selection of wine jellies, other jellies (seriously, try different combinations, you'll be surprised how well they pair). And the herbed salami is wonderful! You can't forget about the wines, a newer piece of the puzzle that just perfectly fits....you can do wine, you can do cheese, you can do wine and cheese, you can do tastings, flights or just buy and take home, you can do anything! Now that they've moved to a spectacular location and in a much larger space, the wine bar is just great! The tasting room is awesome! Can accommodate even more people, bigger groups, have a party there! I've been 5+ times and always leave thinking I need to come here more!!! They do a wine down Wednesday special and have fancy grilled cheeses that are to die for. Oceans twelve and the three kings are my ~fav. For cheese plates I got the Manchego, Truffle Goat, and two year aged Gouda my first go around and it was hard to not get this every time. Not a big jam person but the pairings compliment the cheese so unbelievably well!! The place is pretty small, but has a nice welcoming atmosphere. They also do tasting parties. What an incredibly amazing hidden gem and Tampa. When you first walk in this place it looks like it's only a deli but when you walk towards the back you see the wine bar and the tasting room behind that. Our server was great. Because of our crazy schedules my girlfriend and I celebrated New Years a bit after the fact this year, but I promised her that we'd do something very special to make up for the change in dates. I was planning to pick up some fresh seafood to grill, and was considering a nice fruit and cheese plate to serve after dinner. I had thought about stopping at one of the fancy grocery stores in town and trying my luck at selecting a few different cheeses, but one of my Yelp friends thankfully steered me to the Cheese Please shop instead. Cheese Please is located in a strip mall along S. MacDill Avenue, and you'll find this retail establishment in the same shopping center as Pane Rustica and Redneck Wine. They are south of the Selmon Expressway and before you get to El Prado. The storefront looks small from the outside, but you'll quickly discover that it's actually very spacious inside. The front third of the store is the retail cheese shop, and you'll find several large refrigerated cases displaying the various gourmet cheeses and charcuterie. This is where I met Michael, one of the owners, and a very delightful and energetic guy. I explained my dilemma, and he started asking me questions about the type of food that I'd be serving, my choice of wines, and what I liked about various styles of cheese. Michael is clearly a master at his craft, and you should seek out his recommendations and listen to his advice. He suggested that I try one goat's milk cheese, one sheep's milk cheese, and a cow's milk cheese to start the process. The goat's milk cheese that he helped me select was called "Purple Haze" from California, and no -- this had nothing to do with Jimi Hendrix or flowering buds of cannabis. Nope, this was a smooth and creamy cheese, with a slightly acidic tang, that was flavored with wild fennel and lavender pollen. It spread easily onto crackers, and was very delicious with slices of Honeycrisp apples. My second cheese selection was a young Manchego sheep's cheese. Manchego is a famous style of Spanish cheese, and in this case Michael suggested a semi curado that had only been aged about four months. The Manchego had a fruity scent, with flavors of grass and hay, along with a milder tangy finish. I had some seedless red grapes to pair with this cheese, and that was a good mix. For the final cheese Michael suggested a big bold cow's milk cheddar, and I went with Beehive Big John Cajun Cheddar from Utah. The flavor of the cheddar was outstanding, although the rind had been hand-rubbed with Cajun spices, and Brittany found that a bit strong for her tastes. So I compromised and sliced the rind off her little wedge and she was much happier. Michael suggested a small charcuterie pairing, and after trying a few different styles, we agreed on a Loukanika - dry Greek salami. This sausage had a mild seasoning and a bit of a lip-smacking fattiness that cut through the heat of the Cajun cheddar. Very nice! Michael then walked me back to the center of the shop which has been turned into Clooney's Wine Bar, and is the perfect place to sample their selection of reds, whites, and sparkling wines by the glass, as well as their craft beers. He highly recommended the 2012 Chardonnay from Souverain Vineyards of Napa Valley, California. This wine had a citrusy scent and blended perfectly with the pairing of cheeses and charcuterie. I had a small taste and gave this wine an enthusiastic two thumbs up! Finally, the very back of the Cheese Please store has been built out as their special events room for cheese and wine tasting parties which are held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Check the schedule on their website to see what is planned for the next week. With my purchases in hand, we walked back up to the front of the store. The three cheeses (roughly 4 - 5 ounces of each type), plus the Greek salami, plus the Chardonnay wine ran about $40. Michael told me about the cheese tasting event for this coming Friday, which will be "French Cheeses" - A celebration of the classic French cheeses: triple creme Bries, earthy Comte, the best Blues, among others. It sounded like a fun time, and well worth the $30 fee, so I've signed up to give it a try. If you'd like to learn more about cheese, and you're willing to look beyond those yellow slices individually wrapped in plastic, then this South Tampa cheese store is definitely for you. I will definitely be back to try some different wines and cheeses. read more
