I stopped by for the lunch buffet at 11:15 am and found out it started at 11:30 am. The staff seated me anyway. Perfect! I was the first one there and was told the owner of the restaurant is also the chef. I started my plate with what was already brought to the buffet and enjoyed delicious chai tea. The selections for a variety of tastings and spices were delicious. To finish, I had the sweet rice pudding with Cardamon. Before I left, the entire restaurant was filled. Dined at Singh's Cafe recently w/ the girlfriend and a friend visiting from out of town. None of us are truly experts in indian food, but each of us enjoy the cuisine from time to time. Arriving at Singh's was a bit confusing, as they're located in what appears to be the basement of an apartment complex, and the parking situation is a bit unclear. i may or may not have parked in the area for residents only, but it was a wednesday, and no one seemed to care. The decor is (what i would imagine as) classy indian. We were served a few complementary appetizers, as we mentioned that it was our first time dining there - 2 of which were delicious and the third which was not up anyone's alley. Three different entrees were ordered, and by some stroke of luck, i was able to take home the leftovers from all three. After careful comparison, scoring, and re-tasting, i can report that they were all delicious, and the staff was took seriously our pleas to go very very very VERY easy on the spice, as none of us can handle the hot stuff. I would certainly return to Singh's based on my first experience there. read more

I've visited Sigh's probably a dozen times now and I am IN LOVE with their buffets! Although they do tend to repeat the same dishes whenever I'm there, they are always cooked perfectly and taste amazingly! In addition, there are dosas on the weekends!!!! The staff always gives great service and the restaurant is well kept. For the price of $8 during the week and $12 on the weekend, it's a pretty sweet deal. read more

We went to the Singh Cafe for brunch. The food was really good. It was fresh and flavorful. The variety of food presented at the buffet was good. It could have more vegetarians but it was fine. The staff are not very friendly and I no one even smiled at us once. I didn't even dare to ask for more water! lol I liked the decoration and the ambient. There were just some stuff that the management can simply change/improve and I don't know why they don't!!!! For example the pitcher they were using to serve water was super dirty! When the light shed on the pitcher I saw things floating in the it and it had finger prints all over it. It was really gross and I couldn't drink anymore water!! The rice cooker was very dirty and I don't know why they can't find some nice pot for serving their rice?! and don't let me start on the serving spoon for the rice! ew! The ambiance was exquisite with the succulent chicken. My ears were bursting with joy with the perfect music to set the mood. Wide variety of chutney and various spices was unbelievable. The robust buffet was teaming with flavor. The water perfectly quenched my thirst and was the perfect liquid to wash down the excellent food. I highly suggest this restaurant whole heartedly. A great local spot - I just wish they still had delivery. We've been there for the lunch buffet and for dinner and we've ordered in dinner for pick up almost once a week for over a year! The lunch buffet is a good deal and you can even get the buffet to go - they will give you take out containers to fill to the brim and the last time they brought me naan all wrapped up in foil to go with it. We had a ton of food and still got to eat at home. The one time our order wasn't right they apologized and credited the meal right away. We are loyal customers and will continue to be! read more

This restaurant is under new management and the food has gone way down in quality. I ate here last weekend and it was awful. The food was soaked in oil and high in spices even though I ordered it medium spicy - my mouth was on fire, it was horrible and distasteful and way too much salt. The food quality was much better under previous ownership but really sucks under new ownership - sounds like the new owner does not care about the quality of the food and ingredients used to prepare the food. the meat appeared stale and seemed like the food was reheated before being served. Didn't taste like fresh cooked meal at all. Avoid this place. read more

The weekend buffet was not particularly flavorful. Nothing was spicy, nothing was aromatic or rich or even gingery. The vegetable flavors weren't strong and pungent. It all sort of tasted like Indian dishes you get in the frozen food aisle - not actively bad, but you've likely had much, much better. Or I have. The samosas were pretty generic - it feels as if they come from a giant frozen foods bag full of samosas - and the naan was undercooked. But if this were a dosa place, it would be a fantastic 5-star dosa place. Hot, crisp, tender, with a complex curry and mustard and onion flavor to the potatoes. I'm baffled. We have been getting takeout from here for several years, and the food is good. But they almost AWAYS get our order wrong. The receipt stapled to the bag will have the full order, but something will be missing from the bag. It happens so frequently that it cannot be bad luck but rather must be incompetence. To add insult to injury, we called just before coming to pick up the food tonight, and they confirmed our order was complete, which we discovered was not the case when we got home. I guess it's my own fault for not taking everything out of the bag on their counter and confirming they did their job before heading home! Okay so... NEW favorite Indian restaurant!!! I'm not very original when it comes to Indian food, because I always order chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. Butter chicken is also not too original either. But I recommend their butter chicken! It's perfect! Creamy with all the spices. The chicken is juicy. Also get their naan! They add another flakey fried bread to the order and I love it!! I don't even know what it is. Portions are generous and I think you get what you pay for. Their vegetable samosas are nice and crispy! Location is downstairs, but who cares? It's so good. I've done sit down at the restaurant and take out, and they give you the same amount, even include the chutneys when you get your takeout. So go out for some Indian food or take it home and be in your own PJs feasting :) read more

$7.95 for the Lunch Buffet?!! That's reasonable by any standard. $7.95!! in Wellesley?! That is the weekday price. I haven't gone on the weekend when it is $11.95. I highly recommend this place. The choices are far greater than the places on Moody Street in Waltham--see photo. The only competing lunch buffet of similar type is at Tanjore in Harvard Square ($8.95) or Namaskar in Davis Square ($6.95.) They really vary the buffet. I am amazed at the alternation of recipes. Free Naan brought to the table, chicken very moist for Tandoor. Food could be spicier, and the tomato based dishes sometimes suffer from that hint of "Campbell's Soup Syndrome" i.e. a little too sweet. But that is what many people adore (Ye olde chicken tikka masala.) However, this is not a bad thing because oh my gosh the many dishes are all quite different one from the other! I've had pork, cauliflower and shrimp standouts. Their samosas are the best I have ever eaten (my daughter who goes to Wellesley College nearby agrees.) They are far more complex than the usual: more peas, chilies, cumin seed added to the potatoes; I think they are more like the ones I loved in Kenya than those I tend to find around here. Service is a small issue, but I think that is because of the crowds at lunch. Meters out front are cheap. I realize that many Indian people will find the dishes a tad lacking in heat, but there are many nice chutneys available to spice it up and the dishes are well spiced just not super hot. Oh and one more thing, I have that gene where cilantro tastes like soap and thank god they don't toss it all over the buffet dishes! read more

Singh's is a solid choice if you are looking to get a good South Asian meal. On the scale of cheaper to nicer, Singh sits on the nicer side as far as Indian restaurants go, which is reflected in their prices. That being said, service here was above average. The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly, and we were given small appetizers on the house. Although it was a busy Friday night, our food came in a timely manner. I am a huge fan of Indian/South Asian food. Nothing was bad about the food here. Everything was flavorful, portions were good, and the menu selection was decent. For an Indian restaurant to get 5 stars, the food has to be something special, something above the norm that really makes an impression on me. Singh's food did not necessarily do that, but that doesn't mean the food wasn't solidly enjoyable. I will definitely come back to Singh's in the future. read more

Service was excellent, orderly, and timely. Because we had had such a terrible experience with Singh's in January we waited until now to try the take out at Singh's again. Andrea and I ate here on the way to the airport (okay, not very on the way, but we wanted something yummy) last night. We ordered Channa Masala and an eggplant dish called something like Hyderabadi Mirch something Baingan. The channa was exceptional--really tasty. The eggplant was cooked perfectly--tender to the fork. The dish also contained a big roasted pepper, which was also done to perfection. The whole thing was smothered in some kind of spicy peanutty sauce. Nom. The pepper aspect of the dish was a little like chili rellenos, but without the pesky deep-fried crust and without cheese inside. Really good. We also had tandoori roti, which was buttery and yummy, neither too crisp nor too tender. The staff here is very friendly, the tables are clean and comfortable, the ambience is very nice--there's a big Buddha statue near the entrance, and the decoration is very tasteful throughout. I would definitely come back--we are starved for good Indian food in Brattleboro, so this was a real treat. read more

Went there after all the 4 and 5 star reviews and the food did not live up to the expectation. My major complaint was the Paneer and it was not at all good. First... Tikka Masala is not sweet and Paneer was rock hard.... When you spoil a paneer entree, you spoil the experience. Other 2 veggies were OK.... and Roomali Roti was not Roomali Roti...It turned to papad in some time. Maybe it was the day, maybe it was a one time experience.... Maybe I may give it one more try, maybe there are other better places out there. read more

Food is hit or miss, but had been missing a lot more recently. The chicken is often really dry, and the Chicken Tikka Masala is lacking flavor. Overall, I'm disappointed Singh's is so inconsistent, and will somewhat reluctantly order when we want Indian food (which is a lot..)... I hope they can get it together! read more

I wish I could give this restaurant a 4.5/5 because it is great in just about every way except that I decided to opt for take-out once or twice instead of eating in. The food wasn't as mind-blowing as it is in the restaurant. I'm not quite sure why though... I have never had mediocre food in the actual sit-down restaurant though. It is consistently great. As for the restaurant itself, it is way better than just about any Indian food restaurant I've eaten at, and I love me some Indian food. If you really want a treat, go for their weekend brunch. It's a little pricey, but SOO worth it! You know when you get that icky feeling you're probably eating garbage-quality meat at some restaurants? That is the opposite of what the quality tastes like here. You know you're at an authentic Indian restaurant--and a good one at that--when there are a large number of Indian people eating there, which is usually always the case. This also appears to be regular dinner place for many of the local Wellesley or Babson College kids. Try it all because it's all great! I am a long time fan of Singh's, or rather the old Singh's. Since it was sold (unfortunately just before the pandemic), the love has left the kitchen. Where once the curries were interesting with a simmering tang and an authentic style, now it feels like a hurried food truck. The sauces are trying too hard, with over spicing, and a forgettable flavor. I hope they have a talk with Harpreet, and go back to what made Singh's one of the best Indian restaurants around once. read more
