Update 2026. I'm taking a quilting class and wanted to check out what they have in terms of used machines that would travel well (light weight). They have a few nice ones at very reasonable prices. I picked up a Kenmore machine from the 80s that works like a charm. Got the machine and tons of supplies for under 200. And considering they've cleaned and oiled it, it will probably last another 30 years. Amazing store. Michael is the best. This place has been my ABSOLUTE saving grace this week. Monday evening around 5 pm or so, (of course while working on a last-minute project for this weekend) I started getting the dreaded thread-nests. After minimal inspection, I found that my bobbin case was damaged and needed replacing. Now I know it's smart to have extra on-hand, but I'm on the "using only fabrics from my existing stash" budget at the moment, so I was SOL until I could order one- or so I thought. I remembered seeing a storefront labeled "Singer Factory Distributor" on the route to a favorite nearby sushi spot- having given it very little thought, I'd assumed from the name that they were a B2B business. I am SO glad I was wrong! Jamie was super friendly, and helped me get the part I needed quickly and back to my sewing machine before an incoming storm hit! I had an opportunity to check out their offerings a couple of days later, when I was having issues with some stripped screw-heads that were keeping me out of my machine. There wasn't a tech available at the time (it was close to closing), and it looked like I was going to have to check it in overnight, which wasn't in my budget. Nancy offered me some ideas for solutions I could try at home, and even made a call or so to get a second opinion while I perused the wide selection of thread, machine care-and-repair tools, and signs sharing news of sewing and embroidery classes. Minutes later, David appeared with the exact tool to help me access my machine, quickly got the screws out, and even set the tension on the bobbin case for me! Nancy plugged in my machine, made sure it was running smoothly, gave me some helpful recommendations, and sent me on my way. I used to go to this store a long time ago. My favorite Brother repair guy closed up shop just before the pandemic hit. it was well past time when I should have my machine serviced; I'm not wild about the local guy (only in once a week, it can take weeks to get your machine in), so I thought I'd try these guys. Mike was great. I called and asked whether they did Brother machines (they do), did I need an appointment (no), how long before I got my machine back (about a week). I hauled on over there and left my machine. Mike called after a couple days, said the machine was ready, and what all had to be cleaned out of it (LOTS of thread had gotten stuck in the machine), and offered a couple suggestions, which I will take. I went in to purchase a Singer 4452. They had it listed for $199.00 sale price. I asked them to price match Joann Fabric price of $166.00 and would not. Their reasoning is that their price came with free lessons. I'm experienced and don't need lessons. I walked out with a Viking which was double the price of the Singer. I'm happy with my purchase. Deborah was a doll to work with and great at the upsale. I'm sure I'll go back because of her. As for the man behind the curtain...your flyer says lowest price around - GUARANTEED. People, if you're looking to haggle, this is not the place. Prices are little higher than the going rate. Maybe the free lessons are worth it. Parking is challenging. read more

Great products. Incredible staff - extremely knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy wit sales. 12/10 recommend over big box stores. Update: just purchased a machine from this distributor and would still 12/10 recommend this business. After researching models that performed functions I needed and were within my budget, I was glad this distributor carried the item I was considering - a Juki serger + coverstitch machine. An instructor spent a good amount of time helping me examine the machine, and switch from the serger to coverstitch functions, and then back to serging, testing on a variety of swatches to evaluate performance. Even though I had never used a serger or coverstitch machine before testing the Juki model, and am new to sewing, the item I tested and ending up purchasing is great and surprisingly easy to use. The machine was pre tested and threaded so all I had to do was tie on new thread and I was serging as soon as it plugged in. I managed to switch between functionalities and change needles on my own since the instructor demonstrated this in the store. One of the best parts about purchasing from this distributor (especially instead of online!), is that not only did an instructor help me consider what machine to get and test it - the purchase comes with unlimited free classes with an instructor to help you learn your machine. That's something you definitely can't get online, and I know with the intricacies of the machine and it's operations I may use that offer in the future. Very happy with the service at this distributor - the staff helped me make a purchase that is perfect for my needs without being pushy or trying to up sell me. I have a 1970's Singer serger that needed a part that is no longer available. I had contacted many places including the Singer company and not one place said they would even look at it for a fix. I took my yellowed old machine in to this Singer location for a review and estimate. They were so accommodating. The part I needed was retrofitted with a part used on newer model serger and it works perfectly. They provided me with step by step instruction for using the new part, and I was shown how to use the new part while I was there. They also cleaned up my machine and it is back to the original off white color. I had to ask if it was my machine when I went to pick it up. The machine was tuned up, tension set and all parts were checked. The machine has never run better and the cost was more than reasonable. It was great to see they repair all types of sewing machines too. I will be bringing in my Kenmore for a cleaning and tuneup. I was glad to learn they offer one on one lessons for the serger, which is so rare to find. I will be returning to take some lessons so that I can use all of the machines functionality like rolled hem, and other functions that I have never used. What a great find. read more

If I can give them 10 stars I would! I had this semi-antique industrial Germany cover stitch machine(not singer brand),which I need a tune up as well as putting the threads where it suppose to be(since is a special machine). Knowing the conditions and the brand of the machine, I was expecting to have a hard time to find the right people to fix my machine. Anyway, this shop pops out as I google for sewing machine repairing, I figure I might as well give it a try. As I walk in, the staffs were super helpful and so as the owner of the shop Mike. Mike walked me through the process of repairing, and the staff took my machine in and gave me the evaluate. I was expecting the wait time to be more than a week. A few days later, they call me back and informs me that the machine is ready to be pick up. Conditions of the machine are just amazing after repaired. The mechanic who fix my machine don't know much English, but he try to show me what he did and where the threads should be. Not only the service was fast, the price was absolutely reasonable. If you need ANY type of repair to your sewing machine, I highly recommend this singer distributor location. In late May, I brought my Singer Quantum XL machine for a "tune up". It needed some TLC after 30 years. This all happened during the Covid period. They came to my car to carry this very heavy machine from my car and brought it back out to my car when they finished with the tube-up. I thanked them. However, after having the machine home for just 3 weeks, it started making very loud grinding noises. I returned again to this location. I was told that it may be the motor. I'm sure I let out an audible groan! I was told if that is what it is, it would be about 100.00 for the parts to fix. All in all, I thought that would be a good deal, as this machine is a real workhorse. I also told the story that I had just picked it up a few short weeks ago. I once again left my "baby" in their hands. I received a message this afternoon that they had put a rush on it because I was a priority since the machine had just been in and my machine was ready. I almost immediately left to pick it up. Upon getting there I was told that all repairs and parts were done at no charge, that it was under warranty! I was overwhelmed! This Singer place is outstanding. Also, if you are looking for a sewing machine they have many brands, check them out. They also have classes that teach you how to use your new machine. Excellent and friendly service even during the COVID-19 lockdown. They repaired the part that holds the foot and cleaned and oiled my machine. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I took my (very very very old) singer machine in for a repair, and when they gave it back a mere 5 days later, it was like a whole new machine. I just recently brought it back for an emergency repair on my reverse lever (it wasn't a problem the first time I took it in), and I had my machine back in less than an hour. If you have a broken down machine or any machine problems really, DO NOT go to joanns, go here. The customer service is exceptional, everyone is very friendly, and while I haven't purchased a machine from them, they have a super wide variety. Wonderful visit here this week. So many sewing machine options, and expert individual attention. They do a land office business in machine repairs. One big temptation is the option to use their long arm Quilting machine. One needs to complete a $50 training session, but then you can use it at $25/hr. I understand most simple quilts take 2-3 hours. They have been generous with their support of After School Matters teen sewing class when they started in the neighborhood. I thought I broke my machine and was bringing it in for a repair, however as Nancy asked me a few questions about the issue, she quickly discovered that it was a user error issue. My wife is a sewing maniac. She is a quilter extraordinaire, and boy does she so a lot. When it came time for her to upgrade one of her many sewing machines and also add embroidery to her personal capabilities. The singer sewing machine store was where we went. They knew all about every sewing machine in the place, they had from super professional grade machines down to entry-level machines, and although they are called a singer shop, they carried many many other brands also and sold them with the same vigor they sold Singer. After the sale, training classes and other support has been fantastic. If you are in the market for a new sewing machine, be sure to check out this place. I have been all over the United States visiting sewing centers and fabric shops with my wife, this is the best one yet. When I moved into my new apartment, the attachments for my Singer serger went missing. Of course, I didn't realize the problem until 72 hours before I needed a project done. Emergency!! Specifically, I needed a spreader. For those playing at home, a spreader is a tiny metal bit about the size of my pinky nail. Yet, it's so important that the serger can't do half of its functions without it. Yikes! I was sent to the Singer Factory Distributor when JoAnn Fabrics couldn't help. I was hesitant. I expected the Singer store to be like a car dealership- an overpriced monopoly over teeny, tiny metal doodads. Thankfully, I was wrong. When I got to the store, a sweet woman immediately approached me. Two other employees were present- I will call them Teacher and Manager on Phone. They seemed very busy, but full of expertise; I'd like to take one of their classes someday. The woman helping me could not find the spreader, though it was no fault of her own. The store's massive inventory was well-organized. She tried to get the attention of Manager on Phone, which was a difficult task, indeed. While we waited, she taught me some alternate techniques I could do with my machine, in case the part was unavailable. She also showed me a stretchy nylon thread I hadn't used before. I appreciated the knowledge, and that I wasn't left to wait in silence. When Manager on Phone finally became Manager Off Phone, he was awesome. He was very respectful, and was quickly able to find what I needed in the back. The price was affordable, and I left satisfied. My serger worked like a dream when I got home. I will definitely be making more frequent stops to the Singer Factory Distributor. read more

Sewing machine miracle workers! Staff was so helpful and friendly, assisting in finding a (cheap) replacement part for my old Kenmore sewing machine. They also stocked me up with the right needles, thread & bobbins so I'm ready to roll (sew). The store is quite large, lined with tables of machines (for classes, demos), rows and rainbows of thread, and miscellaneous accessories/parts. They offer lots of sewing classes for those interested in learning, and they can also service old machines for regular maintenance and unique problems. When I moved here, I bought a new Singer sewing machine and used it to sew one curtain seam. Since then, it has been in the the original packaging. I needed to sew something the other day and set it up. I checked my bobbin thread and couldn't get my bobbin case back in. The instruction booklet did not include the step. When I took it into Singer on Irving Park. They acted like something was broken and that my bobbin case being in the wrong position was an issue for the repair department. I left the machine with them for 3 days just to find out that they only cleaned and oiled it...to the tune of $59. The woman chastised me (a current chemo patient) for not using it more often and offered to show me how to use the machine for $50. If nothing was wrong with my machine, why didn't they offer that to begin with?! If they had charged me $25 for cleaning, I would have signed up for classes with them. I just felt like I had been Chicago-style grifted. It did not make me want to return to this place. Very disappointed because the Singer shop is so closed to my house...I would have loved taking lessons there. Frustrated. read more

I brought in an old Singer machine I recently inherited from my Grandmother. They cleaned it, tuned it up, and replaced all the missing/damaged parts for about $86. Definitely reasonable! I also took the opportunity to sign up for a sewing class while I was there. Since I am an absolute beginner, the lady recommended I take the upcoming "Crazy Strip Quilt" class just to learn some basics and get used to using the machine. My first class was yesterday and I really REALLY enjoyed it! The staff is so helpful and they answered all my questions. I'm excited to sign up for more classes in the future! I've taken three different machines there over the years and they've been great. It doesn't matter how old they are what brand they come back running like new. When they couldn't find parts for my 62 year old Pfaff 130 they told me I should find another cheap donor machine. They didn't charge me for the Initial repair advice. If I could give this business a 20 star rating, I would! My Singer is 45+ years old and has been a trusted friend and workhorse for much of my life. Even if not used in years, I could get 'er out and she would perform as well as when new. I was devastated when this time was different. I used my son's 10 yr old Singer but was frustrated when it didn't feel as solid nor work nearly as well. Resigned to replacing my old friend, I called as a last resort and was delighted they were confident she could be repaired. WOW, she's good as new!
