Special shout out to the kitchen staff for big multitasking energy: watching the game, closing out the place, and firing out some amazing food. Wilder's near-close happy hour offerings were both tasty and generous. Cocktails featured offerings from local distillers that yielded complex flavors but nothing that was "trying too hard" to be artisanal. Also Made my date's night that they were using polenta as a bun.

We walked in at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and was kind of greeted by one of the servers. She wasn't too friendly and seemed to be irritated that we said we'd wait for a table as opposed to sitting at the bar. Once seated, that same server came over to try to take our orders and once again seemed irritated that we weren't ready to order. Luckily, another server took over from there and we had a pleasant anniversary meal the rest of the time! Here's everything we tried: Devilish Eggs - This came with 4 deviled eggs and was just okay. The crispy bacon pieces was the best part of this dish! Steak Tartare - This was the main reason we chose this restaurant and we were definitely not disappointed! We spent our first anniversary together in Europe and had so much tartare and this really brought back some wonderful memories for us. The tartare was rich and mustardy, beef flavor was great, and it sort of just melted in your mouth. The crispy chips paired well with the tartare and I can't wait to come back and have this again! Mussels - This was a big bowl of mussels in a white wine garlic sauce with toasted baguettes. Mussels tasted fresh and garlicky with just a bit of funk from whatever cheese they grated on top. The toasted baguettes were so good dipped into that white wine broth. I wish this dish came with skinny fries but it was also so good as is. Would definitely order this again! Field Greens - I asked for this to come out with my meal but it came out about 10 minutes before the entrees came out. It was very light and refreshing. I saved half to have with my meal but most of it was wilted already by the time our mains came out. But it's okay! The fried chicken actually had a small portion of this salad on its plate. I wouldn't have ordered this had I known, so next time will skip the side salad altogether! Fried chicken - I really wanted to like this dish but alas, fried chicken breast is very hard to make juicy. I definitely prefer dark meat because that's harder to mess up. My partner enjoyed it but he doesn't mind dry chicken. The sauces were phenomenal! That mustard sauce was great and the sweet glaze was delicious! The potatoes would have been a lot better if they were smaller to get more of that crust to creamy potato ratio but still okay the way it was. My fiance cleaned this plate up! Brown Butter Cake - This cake was phenomenal! It's hard to mess anything with Brown Butter up so I had really high expectations for this and they certainly did not disappoint. The server was nice enough to throw candles on it since we were celebrating and it really ended our meal on the sweetest note! The restaurant itself is small and cozy. A bit dark and romantic. It really reminded me of the small bistros in France that we frequented while we were out there. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu!

We came during happy hour so we ordered an Elk Fry bread and the 3 sisters side. The 3 sister side was good, the squash was sooo good. It was nice and warm and very filling! Oyster on the shell is fresh & good side sauce but small oysters size of a quarter - Tuesday $1 so it is sized to fit the price? Elk chili fry bread. Lots of beans little meat lukewarm. Bummer. Otherwise standard fry bread similar to what you get at the rodeo. $15 slight issue with mine requested no onions - got onions - I removed - waitress finally came by noticed and offered a slight discount as the fix. I do appreciate her recommendation of fry bread since the tostadas are smaller size $17. Tea selection is enormous served with honey is surprisingly nice $7 a cup. My tea looked beautiful & tasted better with all the honey in it. Beware of charges! WARNING $25 per person cancellation fee! So make sure all your peeps show up. Quick read: YES, COME HERE!…read more We took a chance on this place when some unexpected family flew into town and wanted a good breakfast. This was the first spot open long enough for us to still squeeze one in. As soon as we walked in, we noticed a sign proudly supporting inclusion and justice. As a Mexican queer woman, seeing that right away felt genuinely welcoming. We grabbed a table, got our menus, and I immediately noticed the Community Meal option-where anyone can come in and get a meal, no questions asked, free of cost. Our server overheard us talking about it and was ready to offer it with complete respect. We were the only ones in this restaurant and they were okay with providing meals for free if we needed them. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of place this is. When ordering, we learned they don't even have a freezer everything is fresh and locally sourced. Big win. One of us ordered the French toast, and wow... I wish I had too. It was beautiful, topped with nuts for the perfect crunch, and made with brioche bread. PHENOMENAL. I had a bite (and got the leftovers), and it was just as amazing cold. I ordered the chorizo breakfast sandwich with a side of tots, and even the quality of the oil they fry with must be top-notch because those tots had the perfect crispy outside with soft, fluffy insides. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros, which I barely saw before he devoured it and immediately went into a happy food coma. We also had biscuits and gravy--slightly sweeter than usual, but still delicious. I'll absolutely be bringing friends here for future breakfast dates. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and come try their food!

At the restaurant, had the Diablo chicken sandwich. It was not edible. One bite and I knew this can't be finished. Later on had the brownies for dessert during happy hour. That was great. Happy hour does not leave you THAT happy. Couple bucks off. Mixed drinks are fine. Staff is pleasant for the most part. Seattle frost really is PNW frost if you ask me. I also had breakfast there and had a granola and yogurt. Fine. Stayed in a king in the school wing. 101. No ghosts (perceived by me). It smelled like it though. It's an old building. It was mostly clean although there were food crumbs all around my desk. Gross. See pic. Room was huge with beautiful windows. Loved the headboard with the cow. Overall was quiet. Slept fine. I enjoyed the free coffee at the front desk using the coffee mug provided. Cool. The whole building is great. The kitschy art is fine. I much preferred the photographic history. Overall, just the smell and dirt and bad food made it challenging. I was glad to go nevertheless. Completing my passport!
