A few of us had just had an afternoon lunch across the street and decided to grab one more drink. The bar is quite unassuming and easy to enjoy. We sat in the front by a window on a slightly rainy day. Good beer, selection, and friendly service.

Alberta Pub in the King area of Portland is a corner watering hole hangout hosting a bang of a party until the wee hours of the morning. My daughter wanted to kickstart our Sunday as she'd gotten wind of Alberta P's Soulful Sundays lineup a while back and suggested we come during my short solo visit to Portland. Alberta P. has a dim, cozy feel with the bar area+stools and other tables around. My kid and I were here for the live music the next room over. This room has high stools, slender counters on opposite side and several hi-top tables front of the stage- with cymbals, decorating the walls. Grab a cocktail and settle in. The owner seems to be a legend in these parts who has been hosting and supporting the local live jazzy+Soulful Sundays music scene for a while. Come here if you wanna listen and jive to musicians zhuzh up famous jazzy and soul tunes. The Sunday my kid and I visited, the live band improvised their own schtick- but it also felt sloppy as the main singers ate up a bulk of the time stretching out the songs. At times, it felt and looked like they were cackling. Despite this, the singers had a powerful voice-especially the guy who sounded like El DeBarge. My daughter and I ended our evening on a high note in a dimly lit venue while a live band tinkled out sets of jazzy+ soulful tunes until late. Come with an open mind and you'll leave with your senses bedazzled in some fun- but interesting way.

Shrimp and maybe a half a handful of burnt fries. $17 :/

Went to Alberta street Pub for "Trap Bingo" one weekday in October 2025.. it was AMAZING!! I had so much fun! What was most impressive was the shrimp and fries with remoulade dip. OMG! I never had anything like it. I also ordered a shot of Remy Martin.. I was about to sip and noticed a fruit fly. Went and told the tall black guy bartender, it took like 3 mins of him searching for it and finally he saw it. At first he tried to hand it back and say he didn't see it. I had to put it up toward the light where he could see, FINALLY, he saw it. Poured me another.. 2 fruit flys.. handed it back, same thing, poured another, a fruit fly. So I told him obviously the bottle is filled with them, please open another bottle. He was pretty irritated, like I did something wrong LOL! I guess I should of drank the nasty menaces?!! That alone, gave me a terrible first impression, BUT THE SHRIMP :))!!! So I decided I'll just go back for the shrimp.. I went home and told my hubby, and anyone else I spoke with. I was so looking forward to going back just for that. *FAST FORWARD* January 2026. Had been planning a nice night out for hubby and had been wanting him to try the shrimp and fries. So we decided on Sunday Jan. 11th, "Soulful Sundays". We got all dressed up.. mind you, we had a few questions and had been calling for 3 days straight. No one EVER answered. We showed up at about 5 after midnight. (They close at 2am) kitchen was closed :( .. ok.. our bad. We left. Decided to go back the next day with the kiddos. Again, called to make sure kids could come in before 9. NO ANSWER. So we just showed up. Kids were able to attend. So I approached the bar, family was all seated. The lady bartender was in the middle of convo with someone at the bar, so I waited.. finally, she came over, I t was our first time coming in during the day and with kids. I had to keep asking questions and figure out exactly how ordering went and so forth. She was NOT very forthcoming. I had to drag all the answers out of her. Went over the menu, ordered. Not too long of a wait, while waiting, my fingers and sleeves were sticking to the table. You could see the stickiness in the light, so I laid napkins down. Had I asked the chatty bartender, with her attitude I know we would have got into it. I was already annoyed by our interaction upon arrival. So I pretty much avoided her and just settled. We just wanted to eat and go.. went over to get our food. I immediately noticed the portion and state of our food. We ordered two grilled chicken burgers with fries, and two shrimp and fries. The burger plates were cool. HOWEVER, the shrimp plates actually pissed me off! HIGHLY. Just about all of our fries were burnt. They looked like the scraggly fries at the bottom of the fryer you forgot about and grab at the very end. They looked pathetic. HUGE CONTRAST from my last visit. There was a diff cook. First cook was a heavy set white guy. This cook was a skinny black lady. *RACE DOESNT MATTER JUST STATING FOR CONTEXT*. A diff cook could be why the difference. We sat to "eat" and it was terrible. I mean.. we spent $80 freakin dollars and left hungry. The shrimp had NO FLAVOR AT ALL. They just tasted like oil basically. The remoulade had no flavor. Just a faint taste of mayo. We also got a side of ranch and it tasted like it was spoiled. We got there at about 6:30pm and it's like they were closing the kitchen and fed us the scraps of what was left to cook? Idk.. it was absolutely terrible man.. such a disappointment . Again, the fries were burnt so we could only eat a few. I didn't let the bartender know because she was already dry and distant when we arrived, so we just bused our tables and left. I've never spent $80 damn dollars to eat anywhere and left hungry. And I was slightly embarrassed I gassed the shrimp up, only to get the bland, burnt crap we were served. None of my family liked the shrimp and fries. They did enjoy the burgers, and their fries weren't burnt. A free re-do would be solid on ALBERTA STREET PUBS part. $80!?? *SIDE NOTE* I also noticed all of the "Urban" or "Black" events have higher cover charges than all other bands/events.

Visited 7/7/24 | Spent $16 (taxes and fees included) - At the tail end of Leaky Con (Harry Potter conference), my friends and I visited for a Hip Hop & R$B Bingo Night. The staff were friendly and bartender was attentive, though she was working solo managing the growing line. I was shocked by how much syrup was used to make the tequila sunrise I ordered, so refrained from ordering anything else from the bar for the rest of the night. The nachos were fulfilling and solid bar food. I love how spacious and clean the patio was and the lively entertainment.

Disappointed and angry in a dive bar, how cliche?! I know. Empty bar. 20 minutes for a smash burger. Over cooked fries. Secret fees. When you're the only one in the bar service should be extraordinary, you're the only one there! A beer and a burger is the bare minimum for a bar. If the menu says $15 for a burger, that's what it is, not 15.83. If the menu says extra bacon is $2, that's what it is, not $4.14. If a beer says it's $8, that's what it is, not $8 and some change. If you have fees for something it should be stated, not randomly charged on the bill. "The managers not in, I can't help!" I think the service staff should be able to explain charges on my bill. I didn't want extra bacon. I wanted what I paid for, nothing more. I won't be back. $30 for a burger, fries and a beer....just to throw it in the trash because it wasn't even done right. Why come?! I'm good. Do better! If I could cuss in this review I would! Sad.

The atmosphere is always chill and inviting! A fun time, and SUCH GREAT STAFF. We came right when they opened, and everyone was so friendly and communicative about getting set up and getting their kitchen going. Later on, Sean, came to check on us and make sure we were happy!

When the sun comes out all I ever want is a slushee cocktail! Drove past and noticed they had an n/a slushee as well as a Watermelon Margarita slushee! Which is always the right vibe for me! So good! Thank you Shawn and the lovely bartender for your hospitality and kindness!!

This stage and room has great acoustics.

This is a special, cozy, inviting pub with great musicians on Tuesday nights (7-9pm). Worth a visit even mid-week. It will make you feel peaceful, joyful, and not alone. Shout out to the bartender Sydney.

A very good version of fish and chips, this is the half order size.

A Don Julio lemon drop is 14.49 for the shot , plus an extra 2 for lemon drop mix. A lemon drop at Ruth Chris isn't that expensive.

The only thing not pictured is our wagu braised with sweet potato. That was phenomenal. It pulled apart and melted in your mouth with every bite. We ended with two very different deserts, the strawberry mochi and whipped crem brûlée type desert. Both were tasty. Price range for all plus three alcoholic drinks was $165 not including tip. To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
