I have to say this place is a gem, one of the best sushi I ever had in my life, we got the Luigi roll, but this place is really expensive I will admit that, it has grilled beef shrimp and avocado, and on the outside spicy aioli, and there was crunchy shrimp on the outside, but one roll is 27 dollars, that is a rip off. The service was really good, the waiter out of his own offered us ice cold water, very nice of him, I want to try the other dishes here I think this place is the first of its kind with Japanese Mexican fushion. The inside is very inviting, Mexican music, you feel like you're in Mexico, I can eat this sushi all day I'm not gonna lie, I want to come back here and try their tacos. I want to come here and try the other rolls just have to wait for my next paycheck.

While I am a big fan of fusion food, I believe it is often very difficult to carefully balance different flavours and maintain texture of the food. From what I tried here, the flavour was good, but the texture was a weak spot. The rolls I had were quite dry, and I found myself liking the Luigi roll more since it was doused in sauce. The prices here are also a bit steep, with each roll costing about $20. Overall, this spot was fine, I wouldn't be too keen to come again.

Mexican sushi was something that got me curious. I will admit I was skeptical until I tried it for myself. Surely messes your brain to see cheese on sushi... But when you taste it with that soya dip... I don't think I will complain. Bean sandwich was another vegetarian option w ordered. Decent but not great. Taco was okay as well. The salsa, guacamole was authentic Mexican. We had to ask the server for them instead of being served upfront. But the taste was worth it.

Love this Mexican place on the Danforth. It's just a little west of paper. You do need to either park on the street or on a close by GreenP lot. Love the food here. The staff are really nice and friendly. They actually have outside seating, and the whole front of the restaurant opens up to the outside. Totally recommend the rock shrimp appetizer. It is our go to every time. We also really like the drinks here, even the virgin ones. We can totally recommend the virgin piña colada it's fantastic they make great margaritas as well. We typically go with the tacos as our main course we haven't really tried the sushi thing yet although that is yet to come. Love the Birria tacos they are so flavorful. Don't worry that they are overly spicy, they are flavorful, but they're not hot. They serve it up with an offering of different toppings , I absolutely love the avocado cream and salsa on mine. Check them out if you get the chance. Btw they do have a special taco Tuesday. 3 of the same tacos for $12. Check out Wednesday and Thursday specials too on their website!

Made it in for dinner on a snowstorm Monday evening for a friend's birthday. Her partner suggested we try Sinaloa Factory, as it is relatively new on the Danforth. Looking at the menu we decided to try several of the rolls - very different flavour profile! They are a bit heavier than the more familiar Japanese style sushi rolls. Many of them have cream cheese in the roll and melted cheese on the exterior. We also ordered a ceviche, fried rice, and the birria plate. Food was different and really tasty, very filling. Drinks were enjoyable - the micheladas were gigantic. Service was very friendly and helpful, our server gave us suggestions for ordering. It's a cute place, with Mexican decorations. Warm, inviting, and altogether a good night out. Definitely recommend if you want to try something different with a few people.

I never knew that Mexican sushi existed before until I tried this place on the Danforth. Sinaloa Factory specializes in the sushi that is popular among the people in Sinaloa. I ordered the norteño roll. Each piece is quite large and bursting with flavour. The jalapeño on top complimented the cream cheese inside the roll for a nice balance of sweet and heat. They also provide house blend of soy sauce for you to dip your rolls in. Servers were very nice. I will come back on a Wednesday when they do bogo sushi.

Uniqueness has its price. Sinaloa Factory offers standard Mexican cuisine (loads of different tacos, quesadillas and ceviches on its menu). The highlight though is their Mexican rolls - look like a typical sushi roll you get at Japanese spots, except they are fried, heavy, and loaded with stuff. Really pricey but a unique experience. Sinaloa just opened in the Danforth area, so we dropped by for lunch and got: - Sinaloa Roll: If it has the restaurant's name on it, gotta try it right? This roll was breaded, and had shrimp, crab, avocado and a bit of cream cheese in it. Not sure if it was because it was breaded, but this was packed and heaaavy. The spicy kamikane and sesame on top added a nice kick to it. Expensive at $20, but definitely unique to the standard Japanese rolls. - Tatito Roll: This had the same inside as the Sinaloa roll, but was fresh and not breaded. Plus there was a generous heaping of shrimp on top. While I liked it, it did taste more like the usual rolls so not sure if it's worth the higher price point at $18. - Birria and Chile Relleno Tacos: Both tacos were in a double soft shell that was drippingly golden brown given the pan fry. The shredded beef of the Birria was tastily marinated. That said, I actually preferred the Chile Relleno's roasted poblano pepper stuffed with mozzarella cheese (my wife thought it was too spicy, so be warned). Pricey at $6.50 each, but hefty and will leave you full. Space is huge, and I can see this being popular for drinks. Vibe is vibrant, service is super cheery and helpful, kitchen is efficient. If I'm in the mood for Mexican with a twist, will definitely be back.

Maybe there other regular food were good. But I went there for there AYCE Mexican Sushi and it was disappointing. When I got home, I have to drink so much water. The service is good, and the ambiance was ok. But the Mexican Sushi is not something I would recommend.

Free chips to wait for our meal

Nice Mexican decoration and nice atmosphere for birthdays. But everything is spicy, even when the menu says it is not. Their "Mexican sushi's" are compact rice rolls - flavour less rice - with some meet and cheese as the filling, and with a crispy coating. But not very good. The tacos were good but too spicy for me. The not spicy ceviche was very spicy! The waitresses are nice but busy making cocktails so it took a while to get our order taken. And their benches are not comfortable at all.

Seated fast. With the front windows open a bit warm. Friendly and fast service. Food came fast and it was very good. I had the quesadilla and my partner had the salmon sushi roll. Other were excellent. The sauces were great. The hot being really hot. The churros were freshly cooked and excellent. A bit pricey but still worth it.

The traditional Mexican food was excellent, especially for Toronto and the service was great (5 stars). However, we didn't care for the particular fusion sushi roll we had, mostly because of the texture. (3 stars for the Choriqueso Roll.)

The place is a bit small so it can be a bit tight so I would highly recommend having reservations if you have a large group. Tacos: The soft and the crispy tacos were both delicious. The tinga chicken and the beef barbacoa were juicy and full of flavour. The portions was fair, the quality was a standout and tasted quite authentic. Overall, I really had a great experience at Playa Cabana, totally would come here again to try out their other dishes.

Parking was a challenge, but there is a Green P that is about 5-8 minutes away that isn't too bad if the weather is good. The atmosphere is quite intimate and I did find myself bumping into other people / staff when going to and from the washroom, etc. The food was pretty good - the tacos were full of flavour and I got to try a variety by sharing with the group. I think my favourite was the beef barbacoa. The prices are definitely a bit up there for a Mexican restaurant, I believe the tacos were around $7 each. The quality made it worth it, but there's definitely other places in Toronto that serve up a great taco for nearly half the price. We also tried a couple of appetizers, including the nachos, guac and ceviche. The nachos were something special - it was a bit of a nacho pizza. I didn't expect that from Playa Cabana, given everything else was very authentic. The taste was good, but it was a bit of a challenge to share! The highlight of the night was definitely the desserts - we ordered the tres leches cake, and the churros. Definitely the best churro I've ever had.

We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us into seats at the bar area, which ended up being the best possible spot because we had a front-row view of the live fire cooking the entire night. The ambiance was lively and hip, with a great energy that made the whole experience feel exciting. This was my first time watching each main courses get cooked over live fire in real time, which added to our amazement given that all the dishes came out cooked to the right doneness. Every bite of meat and seafood was perfectly kissed with flame -- the char, the subtle smoke, the texture. Beyond the fire element, you can really taste how fresh everything is. Nothing felt heavy or muddled. Each dish was well thought out with balanced flavors, but the ingredients and that fire/smoke magic were always the main event. Service was also superb. All the staff were attentive and high-energy. Different servers checked up on us throughout the meal, our water was always kept full, and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Only drawback: the heat. Sitting by the fire is incredible for the show, but it definitely started to feel like a sauna at times. Still, I'd do it again and choose to sit at the bar without hesitation. If you're in Toronto and you love a tasting menu, this is a must. Just make sure you book at least a month in advance - it's popular for a reason.

Highlight was the scallops, we asked for it to be included on our set menu, and they delivered. Can't wait to go back!

The inside was nice, it was dark with ambient lighting and decorated with a modern and Mexican theme. The waitress was super nice, and the staff were fairly attentive. We got the chips and guac to start. I do wish they gave a little bit more walk because it came in this really small cup so we had to go light on the guac to chip ratio. But overall the guac was yummy and the chips were very crunchy with a nice seasoning. They have a special every day of the week and Thursdays are there crunch tacos, which are hard shell tacos, wrapped in a soft shell taco with some sauce in between, and you can choose between their chorizo or chicken. You enter the restaurant from a set of stairs outside and the restaurant doesn't look too appealing from outside. Also, the restaurant always seems busy and/or small, so it's always loud and service is slow. With the negatives out of the way, let me explain why I love La Carnita! The food is amazing! Their tacos are on point, and with so many to choose from I can go back multiple times can never get bored. Each of their tacos has something different to offer and each has relatively good balance to them. The balance of freshness and savory (and sometimes sweet) toppings is well done, making me come back for more. The one item that pushes La Carnita over the top is their nachos! Homemade nacho chips with gooey cheese and a generous amount of toppings makes them my favorite nachos in Toronto! One last observation is that the service is always friendly. They may be (very) slow at times but they seem like they always try their best and are always quite pleasant.
