Called based on the reviews and was very happy with the service. Mary worked with my schedule to make sure an arborist/specialist visited my property for a free consultation and estimate for some oaks we needed trimmed back from the house. The consultation included a walk of the entire property and discussion about the health of all the oaks, and things we could do to ensure their beauty and our safety. In addition to describing how the oaks would be trimmed to maintain canopy and shade, the arborist noticed some mistletoe which he obviously recommended we have cut out. The work was scheduled for a Friday afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the trees beautifully trimmed upon arriving home from work. The yard was cleaned, no debris left behind, and as expected the cuts were precision and only the branches necessary to clear the house were cut, thus maintaining a beautiful canopy. No hack job here, they clearly put some thought into maintaining tree shape and beauty. Highly recommended, reasonably priced, and will be using them in the future. read more

Simply Trees is Unreliable and Unprofessional Jason, one of the owners of Simply Trees, came out on January 2 to survey the job and generate a written estimate to trim a large Mulberry tree in my backyard, with access from the open space behind my fence. I accepted the estimate and scheduled an appointment for Friday March 15. On that day, Simply Trees showed up with a large crew, but did not want to start the job because the ground behind my fence line was too soggy from all the recent rain for their big truck. The job was re-scheduled for Friday May 3, when hopefully the ground would be dry and firm. On Wed May 1 I called the Simply Trees office to re-confirm the May 3 appointment, and was told yes, the crew will show up between 10AM and noon. On May 3 they did not show up, they did not call, and I wasted an entire work day off. After the missed appointment time, several calls to their office went unanswered, and then their voice mail box was full and would accept no more messages. On Monday May 6, I finally reached the office by phone and was told by the office manager the work crew did not want to be liable for damaging my landscaping under the tree, so they decided to not show up. I was told the reason for not calling is the work crew did not have my number, only my address. Really, even though all my information is on the estimate? The office manager said she would talk to Jason and call me back. She didn't, and still hasn't. Why did they give me an estimate and schedule multiple appointments when they didn't want to perform the job in the first place? The no-show/no-call on May 3 and the office run-around since May 6 are inexcusable ways to run a business. Do not make the same mistake, do not choose Simply Trees. read more

I scheduled these guys to trim up my olive tree and the workers showed up but didn't bring all the right tools. They claimed "They didn't give us a hedge trimmer" and said they didn't know what the order was for specifically. I thought that blaming the company I hired to get the work done was unprofessional and made me realize these guys must just be contractors. They also were being goofy in my front yard as they assessed the tree and realized they couldn't do the job. The guy told me he'd try to come back in a couple hours but never showed. I called and left a message with the company but didn't hear back and half the day later I called again and told them to cancel the order. I would avoid doing business with these people. read more

They removed 4 huge Italian Cyprus trees which were crowding our other trees and pruned about 6 others today. My yard was left spotless and they removed stumps down 15 inches. This company did a great job trimming/thinning my Austrailian Willow a couple of years ago, as well as a huge city street which backs up to my back patio (at Arroyo Road). This time I called on Friday just for the city tree (about 50 feet tall) and they scheduled me for Monday. Today six or seven guys came on time, assessed the situation and left to do the work from the Arroyo Road side. They literally trimmed the branches on my side in less than 10 minutes, fifty feet high! They also had the entire thing cleaned up in another 10 minutes and were gone! They did such a great, fast and professional job that I will never hire another company for any tree issues I have in the future. Just had Simply Trees remove four trees/grind the stumps, trim two Japanese Maples and three Redwood Trees yesterday. A large crew showed-up in the timeframe that was committed. The entire team was friendly and efficient. They did a nice job cleaning-up afterwards. My wife didn't even notice that they had already done the work when she came home later. I asked a few other highly-rated companies to provide quotes. One company asked me to send them photos of all the trees that needed work. Their bid was higher. Another company told me that they couldn't send out someone to at least provide a quote for another month. The last company didn't respond to two separate requests to quote from their website. I did, and Simply Trees' bid was the lowest by several hundred Service: They showed up as scheduled, on time - a crew of six friendly, polite and helpful men who did a great job. They removed a three story pine and ground out the stump, trimmed some branches on other large pines and removed a small tree that was on the property line and beginning to negatively impact the fence and pavers. They dealt politely and diplomatically with a persnickety neighbor. They cleaned up all debris. I called and got a decent quote. Called back and made an appointment for the service. When the day came for the work, they were a no-show. I called back and the receptionist, Michelle, told me I was not scheduled at all. After she checked further, she told me the appointment was for two weeks later, which I never agreed to. They made the scheduling mistake, or tried to cover up the fact that they forgot about mine, and there was no apology offered at all. I'm a slacker and have been meaning to write this review for a few months now. I had an established sycamore tree in my front yard (approx 10 years old) that was leaning over so badly that my neighbor had to cut branches off so it cleared his driveway. It also broke the stakes it was originally attached to and was lifting up the sidewalk. It was getting to be a serious hazard and needed to be removed. I got 3 estimates on the tree removal, and also thinning of a birch tree nearby. I had Stumpy's come out, and his estimate was really high, then I had Darrell Wise from Tree Wise come out, and he was kind of a smug jerk and basically said "if we break anything it's your problem". Then Jason from Simply Trees came out to give me an estimate. He was just a little more money than TreeWise, but he was such a nice guy and immediately made me feel at ease. He told me they would clean everything up, and make any necessary repairs if pipes or sprinklers got damaged. I was sold! We made an appointment to get the trees taken care of, but got delayed due to weather. When they were finally able to come out, the job took barely over an hour (Jason told me it might take 2 hours). They were prompt, tackled both trees at the same time, ground down the stump and cleaned up quickly. Jason asked me what my plans were for the area the tree was removed. When I told him I would be replanting, he filled in the hole with wood chips and leveled it out so it could be easily dealt with when the time came, and not a hazard in the mean time! Jason was also extremely accommodating when I told him that I needed a letter from him regarding the condition of the tree in case the city made an issue of the tree removal (I didn't meet the requirements for needing a permit, but you just never know and I wanted to hedge my bets). Jason faxed over a letter within 30 minutes of my request and was extremely helpful. Overall, I was just totally impressed with the whole operation and will definitely use them again the next time my trees need trimming. read more

We had a huge tree removed in the backyard was making a total mess of the entire backyard-purple stains were everywhere!
