A7A. Chicken Satay (5) R3. Hawaiian Fried Rice
Blake C.

We ordered a pickup order for pineapple fried rice, avocado curry w/chicken, and chicken satay. Would recommend all 3. The peanut sauce with the chicken satay is delicious. We get the pineapple fried rice every time we eat here and it never disappoints. We've tried 4-5 of the different curry's and the avocado is our favorite. We've never eaten inside but when I pick up the order it looks pretty authentic and neat from what I've seen.

Don't let the exterior of the location fool you (tiny gas station shopping center), Simply Thai is adorably decorated inside: fabric table cloths and napkins, pretty umbrellas hanging from the celing, Thai objects throughout the dining area. We've dined at Simply Thai a number of times. Service is ok but they serve delicious food: Pai See Ew (Street Noodles), Avocado Curry (Traditional Yellow Curry), and Pad Thai are among our favorite dishes. They're well-balanced and flavorful plus reasonably-priced.

The food is very good and flavorful. I got the ginger chicken and it was really good, could have been a little more gingerly to my liking. Clean and a little crowded spot, but cozy for sure.

This is my go to Thai place, and I haven't been here in over a year. I usually get it to go, but decided to meet a friend there and when I walked in the ambience was very clean, there was quick service in getting seated. This was during lunchtime, so there was a few people in there, but not too busy where you would be concerned about the service. The menu had so much to offer that it took me a little bit of time to go through it all and they even had a lunch menu. I got my usual Thai fried rice and pumpkin curry. I already knew it was gonna be way too much but those are my two favorite things that I was craving and I knew I'd have enough for a meal or two afterwards. The portion size is quite large and definitely would say that is enough for two people. Getting the lunch special you get a a little bit more such as the soup and something else I can't remember. But the prices were right. For a regular meal I would say it's about $15-$17 a plate but you better factor in that you are getting amazing flavor, fresh ingredients, and a good size portion. In comparison to the other Thai place in town, this one is my go to. I had both places within two weeks and have to say simply Thai has more flavor and probably would prefer this one better. This is a great place to go, and I do have to say if you haven't tried their sticky mango rice, it's absolutely amazing! It is a little dessert for around nine or $10 but it's unlike anything you've had before and it's really just so delicious. A good way to end the meal!

Yum! Stopped by for lunch with my mother and we each tried a lunch special. Plenty of tasty food-and they do it spicy, I asked for a 4 and it was just on the edge of too spicy for me. The space is small but nice. Service is great. I even got some spicy fried rice to go.

I was excited to try this place as it had good reviews but after eating there, I was very disappointed. The curry puff lacked seasoning and curry taste. The Tom Yum also lacked seasoning and I was expecting it to be more sour, also couldn't taste any lemon grass. The panang curry and peanut sauce for the spring rolls was good though! Another thing that was off putting was the amount of dirty things we were served. Our forks had dried rice on it and we were served "clean" bowls that were dirty and had some sort of sauce on it. Don't think I'll come back.

This place offers great Thai food! I do like how they have a picture with each selection because I was able to select a delicious meal. The appetizer was very good. Even though they got the wrong order, they were able to make the correction immediately. The service was great and the lady was very nice and helpful. They unfortunately only had one cook working but the food didn't take long for it to come out. The decor is very pleasing and comforting. It made our lunch feel very special and I could have stayed longer to eat. I highly recommend Simply Thai when you're in the mood for Thai food!

Of course I gave them another chance. Twice in the last several weeks, a friend and I got the pad Thai lunch to go. We both enjoyed it!

First time in to Simply Thai We got seated right away we were there early around 3:30 on a Sunday the waitress was very sweet took our order. The wait for our food was not long at all. We ordered appetizers, potstickers I really enjoyed them they were cooked just right and I like the sauce that they bring with them we also ordered egg rolls, a little bit greasy but they were delicious I like the sweet and sour sauce they serve with that. I really wanted a spring roll with the peanut sauce but they ran out of peanut sauce which is very odd being a Thai place so that was my only disappointment they did not have peanut sauce... All in all it was very delicious food we ordered wonton soup and it was really good as well. I've driven past this place over in Spanish Springs a million times finally went in and It was pretty darn fast and really good tasting food I'm going to try it again and hopefully they'll have peanut sauce..

First time at this Simply Thai restaurant which is just 2 minutes away from where we live amazing the Ambiance is very cozy, we were waiting on right away and ordered appetizers and War Wonton soup it was so good this is a very nice restaurant can't wait to go back and try more things on this menu the host was very nice got to sit wherever we wanted it's not a very big place but it sure is cozy and if you like Thai food I suggest you swing in and try the delicious variety of meals

Well..the food was pretty good, but the service was not - the waitress kept chatting with another table and kept forgetting about us - I asked for sriracha and I couldn't eat until she brought it since I needed it for the noodles. Finally she realized she forgot about us and went to grab it If I just rated the food I'd prob give it 4 stars - my husband loved it And ambiance wise this place is pretty zen, it feels like a thai temple with portraits and statues etc. Unfortunately this experience kinda ruined for me with the service and I'm usually a pretty forgiving person but if you have time to chat for 10 minutes you can at least bring me my sauce before continuing your conversation so I'm not just sitting there as my food gets cold

Is this place still in business??? I have tried to call in and order 3 time over the last month. Each time the phone goes immediately to to a fast busy. I've tried calling numerous times with no luck.

Yes they are still in business. I've had them answer and take an order as well as the online ordering system works great!

My friend and shared the following: - Crab Fried Rice: I am usually picky with fried rice because it can get dry very easily depending on how it's cooked. However, this was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. - Yellow Curry: This was good and came with a bowl of rice. How it was served gave a very homey feel. - Mango Sticky Rice: The rice is sweet and the mangos were good. However, there is a big difference in the amount of mangoes and rice they serve per plate compared to the first time we were here. Overall, the food tastes good and the service is okay. I am disappointed in the lack of consistency with plating and amount of food that is served. I would not eat in the restaurant in the future, but prefer take out. I really wish the presentation and comfort was the same as when I came in the first time. There is a difference seen in the pictures from the first time I came to eat in the restaurant versus now.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.

This place really stands out for both the quality of the food and the authenticity of the flavors. The dishes taste fresh and homemade, with the kind of balance of spice, sweetness, and flavor you expect from real Thai cooking, not watered-down versions. The curries are rich and flavorful, the noodle dishes are excellent, and the spice levels are done right if you like authentic heat. Our waitress Nid was great, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the service is friendly and welcoming. I then had to fight to flag a waitress to ask for chili paste to get any heat in my entire dish. I like that there are veggies with it and the noodles have a good chew, but I've found zero dishes with anything near Thai spices here My partner got the pad thai, which was sickly sweet yet didn't taste like tamarind, fish sauce nor contain pickled veg. The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. Thai Chili has far better flavors, and is rated lower. The wait staff/food runners lacked politeness, and never checked if we enjoyed our food or needed anyone. Sans the person filling everyone's water, we were never checked on in any other capacity. The restaurant was a cacophony of noise and conversation, I had to lean across the booth to have any chance of hearing my companion. The noise level is overwhelming if you have sensory issues at all. The decor is pretty cool.
