A decent South Indian place with a variety of dishes not found in North Indian cuisines.
The dosa was nice and thin, colored nicely on the outside. The puri with mutton was delicious, but the 'mild' mutton was rather spicy (!) and the fried doughs were rather oily. Actually one consistent reservation I had was that the breads were so rich and fatty. It was a bit much. The sambar vada had nice donuts in a vegetarian sauce. The mutton biryani was delicious, and less 'roasted' than I'm used to in a biryani, which was a nice contrast. The butter chicken might not have had such a distinctive flavor profile; the Chettinad paneer curry was decent, but I had trouble identifying the flavoring as specifically Southern. The parotta was yummy at first, but ultimately so rich and oily or buttery.
I'd love to go again, but I will order less of the oil-based or fried breads. read more
