We were in the area for dinner and decided to swing by since I was in the mood for boba- it was fine. We ordered the coconut mango bliss and the golden pineapple splash. I asked for the coconut mango bliss to be 70% sweetness because usually the fruit drinks are overly sweet to me, but afterward I wished I hadn't. My drink was not sweet. A couple sips in, I tasted a strong grapefruit flavor. The menu did not list grapefruit as one of the flavors of the drink. If it had, I would have chosen something else. I tasted the pineapple splash (also at 70% sweetness) and it was much better. The place is very small and has no real space to sit and drink. Simply sip is a cute little boba joint in Little Italy. I still remember being so excited when they first opened because they're the first boba joint right in downtown Baltimore. I've gotten different things from this place -- traditional milk teas and fruit teas -- and they're all delicious. They're also on Uber eats which was so convenient during the pandemic. Another thing that sets them apart is their customer service. I ordered online recently for pick-up and when I got to the store, I checked to make sure that my drink had the right sugar level. I got the rose earl grey and was told that the sugar level cannot be modified for it. The crew member told me that they can remake something else if I found it too sweet. I grabbed my drink and tried it outside (for courtesy, I didn't want to remove my mask inside) and sure enough, I did find it to be sweet. I went back inside and they happily made me a standard earl grey milk tea. They even upgraded the size of my drink! I'm very pleased. Will be coming back as always :) Oh also, I hope they never change their packaging. It's so cute and the cup also has a nice matte feel to it. This is the first time I was not able to finish my boba. We got two fruit teas and they were extremely sweet. The drinks didn't have much of a tea taste and tasted more like a fruit drink made with water. I had not tried the milk teas which possibly may be better, but I cannot recommend the fruit teas. I appreciated that it was aesthetic inside and that the main menu items while were some of my faves (earl grey, thai tea, jasmine, roasted oolong). I didn't mind that the menu options were more limited because too many options becomes overwhelming anyways. Expect to spend $5 on a cup. My boyfriend and I tried the jasmine milk tea and the earl grey milk tea -- the tea flavor was a little watery/could have been stronger, and the bubbles were quite stiff. Pros: the cups/straws are nice and sturdy which actually improves the drinking experience. Tip: Right now there are little flyers in store that gives you $1 off until end of March 2020 or so, if you present it in store. Checking in on Yelp gives you a free topping. I had an oddly specific craving for Asian milk tea and wasn't sure what I'd be able to find in Baltimore, but here lies this newish place near the harbor which had pretty much what I wanted, plus a Yelp checkin offer for a free topping. Sold! I got a matcha adzuki flavor (i.e. green tea with sweet red beans). They recommended I not add sugar because the drink would be sweet enough already, which I agreed with both before and after drinking. I also took a recommendation on adding tapioca pearls as a topping. Some of their other toppings were fairly unusual; I'm not a total novice in these things but I had to look up "Aiyu Jelly" and "Nata de Coco". It was a nice-looking beverage that they wisely serve in a see-through cup. Matcha and adzuki go well together and I finished it quickly. They are listed as "vegetarian-friendly", which is true (do other bubble tea places have non-vegetarian drinks?), but they seemed only to have dairy milk, which they might consider expanding upon. There are plenty of non-milk options for those trying to avoid dairy. I went with a group of friends and we all ordered the coconut mango bliss. Unfortunately there was an additional topping....pieces of HAIR!! There was at least one piece of hair in each of our cups. How is that possible?? We didn't even notice until we started drinking from the cup which made it so much worse. There is small pieces of fresh mango and grapefruit on the bottom. Then sago which is tapioca bubbles in the middle, then mango blended in tea which makes a great slushy texture and delicious flavor then topped with a coconut cream.
