Took my iPad in twice but problem is persistent, need to have it replaced under warranty

I phoned about repairing my Iphone 16 pro camera lens. They said i would have to bring the phone in and leave it with them for 7-10 business days for repair. I asked if i could keep the phone while they wait for the part and they said no they have to keep it for the whole duration. I use my phone for business so how would i be able to part with it for up to 2 weeks?? Its ridiculous. Who was able to facilitate this repair efficiently was London Drugs. Thanks to them i can keep my phone and bring it back for repair when they receive the part from apple. read more

There crooks cause i take a broken screened 2019 iPad mini 5 that i bought brand new in 2023 and tells me I bought it in 2019 by putting in the number on the back without thinking that it has been on the shelf for five years just to get me to pay for a replacement cost for the same amount that was more then me just buying a new one on marketplace. Then he also mentions me to buy a iPad for $400 that I could have bought a new one without warranty. read more

Horrible service. The manager, "Kim," was extremely rude, short and snappy with me. There is literally a sign on their wall boasting about how they deliver top notch quality customer service, but I experienced everything but that. Not only did Kim lie about my warranty expiry date (because a phone call to Apple moments later confirmed this), but he literally referred me to Best Buy. It's like they don't want business. Fair enough. I'll take my business elsewhere. They also have an employee working there who is "in training" who simply cannot answer questions properly. Would not recommend. read more

Simply the worst service. Apple shouldn't certify those guys to be their support. It makes the Apple looks bad. We had crack screen and Apple suggest Simply to fix. They fixed it, only two weeks later, the screen start to freeze because it was not installed (glue) correctly. We then go back to them multiple time, reproduce the problem in front of them. The moment we left the store, they send email saying they can't reproduce the problem and ask us to take it back again. Finally we got in touch with Apple support directly and report the issue. We will just ship the phone to Apple and be done with it. read more

I am a long time client of Simply Computing because their service and knowledge is far and above what you find here in Victoria. My last visit was an iMac that was in trouble. I went there to the service department with my iMac and my external hard drive. The staff listened to my problems and said a tech would contact me. I heard from the tech a few days later to make sure he understood what I wanted. When I picked up my machine and took it home, I was so happy to see my iMac restored. Everything was perfect. If you are thinking about having your computer, laptop etc. looked at, you won't find a better place to go. read more

Phenomenal service! My mother is around the corner at RJH, recently admitted to hospice, and so when my iPhone camera stopped working, I was frantic to get it fixed to capture my last moments with her:( I called Rogers online rep as well as a retail store and was directed to Simply (since there's no Apple Store in Victoria). Jessica immediately ran a diagnostic of my phone--the camera sensor was dead so she booked me in a reso for the following afternoon. The next day, Simply's senior technician Jordan kindly guided me through a few steps and within an hour, he'd already sorted a broken fuse. When I came to pick it up, Tony was an absolute professional. I left being charged nothing under warranty, feeling guilty for not being to compensate them for such excellent customer service. Never AGAIN! It is annoying that you have to wait until someone is available to get what you want out of a locked cabinet and then be told wait until someone is available. The other sales people were trouble shooting issues or looking up Apple coverage. Not a 2 min job. More like 25 min. One of the sales guys also is incredibly dismissive and rude. Found out latter that what he told me I had to do (leave my computer there until someone had time to look at it) was completely unnecessary. I refused to leave it and fixed the issue over the phone with apple. I had made an appointment with them through Apple support and had a specific time for my appointment. Never honoured it. Simply the worst customer service, have never been more disrespected. The guy was really rude, keep cutting me off, he didn't let me finish any of my sentences. Almost walked out of the store if I haven't already paid for the service. I booked a reservation to repair my screen, when we came over, paid for the service, they told us to come back in 4 hours, we went it to pick up, the screen was not repaired and they told me they don't have the part in-store. I already gave a clear description of what I need to repair when I book the the reservation through Apple, they could have told us when we come over or even before that, but they confirmed the reservation and told us to come back in a few hours to pick up. So I came back in the week after to repair, the experience was even worst. They can reserve my screen for a week and I came over on the last day because we were busy throughout the week with school and work. The guy I talked to was SUPER rude and disrespected to me, he scolded at me because my boyfriend didn't pick up his phone when they called ( he always pick up the phone when they called, if possible; when he couldn't, he called them back ) and for coming late ( even though its still on the 1 week period) . He keep cutting me off when I tried to talk and his attitude was terrible. Sold me useless merchandise and offer zero compensation. I bought two Tile trackers June 22nd and they've both died. Apparently Simply Computing thinks I'm unreasonable to expect the product would be working less than two months later (it's now Sept 14th). All I asked for was store credit but Simply Computing does not stand behind their products or give a care about wasting their customer' money. I wish there was a lower rating than 1 star in this instance! Their old man salesman was Arrogant, Condescending, Smug and Lazy... and thats about as positive as I can be here. Their customer service was the worst I've ever seen. Their repair guys exact words to me... "We don't have time to diagnose what the exact problem is, it could take me hours! Its just easier for us to replace the entire mother board (oh by the way, that would be over $1000)... But have you seen the new MacBook Air? For only a few hundred dollars more..." What a scam! I took my barely used 1.5 year old MacBook Pro (worth over $2000) to an independent computer repair guy and he fixed it for just over $100!! I took my sister, who has mobility issues and lives in a seniors residence, to Simply Computing last week to purchase a new iPad bc her old one was failing. I recommended SC because I'd had excellent service - (an older iMac serviced by them & also bought new iMac desktop from them 2012 -13) in years past. Also had taken my sister to SC once before when she was having trouble with her another iPad several years ago - maybe 2015-16? Service then was also great - so we felt confident to work w them again - trusting the service was sustained (love that word!) It was not to be. Very poor customer service - rep. was pleasant enough, very good at chatter, let's check this , then we'll do that (found out the old iPad battery was failing, could not be replaced) encouraged my sister to book an $ 80 consult for data transfer from old to new iPad and have a tutorial. My sister paid in full for the new iPad and advised there were none in stock: it would be 2 - 3 weeks before one was available. Given the rep. seemed genuinely interested in helping my sister, we left feeling assured all was going to be well. My sister got a call 3 days later to say the new iPad was in and she could come and pick it up. On reminding the caller that she was to have a data transfer and tutorial appt, an appt was scheduled for 10 am today. When we arrived a few minutes early, we were told by the sales rep that he was busy with another customer (which we could see for ourselves) and that he would be at least another 30 minutes- maybe longer. Another rep then took over - pleasant, polite - but said he had no record of an appt. Then he proceeded to tell us that the data transfer was easy - we really didn't need an appt - it could take a long time, my sister did not need a tutorial, just go home and try herself/ourselves (gave us an instruction sheet) and if she ran into trouble she could always callback and make another appt. Because we asked, he showed several iPad cases ..all pricey. So we left and 3 hours later - we had the iPad up and running thanks to a 40 minute FREE Shaw Cable internet tech woman Sukh Preet who was brilliant w her customer service. So moral of - while dropping $$ at Simply Computing gets you zero customer service (but she saved $ 80 when she didn't get the tutorial) , you get crystal clear in your notice that no one there really gives a pig's ear about helping, supporting, or other like words. I was going to upgrade my iMac desktop at SC but thats not going to happen after this experience - anyone recommend a local Apple dealer who does offer customer service ? read more

I went here to get an iPad case and they barely had any options since they were low in stock. The guy working there just sat at the counter typing away as we struggled to find a case that was appropriate for my new iPad. He just pointed from the desk and said over there! Without a doubt! What they say is true. Their parking is fantastic. After that, walking into the store, OMG. Maybe they just had their customer service set on stun, which was effective in my case. After 2 Macbook pro's later from them, and I admit I am a slow learner, but selling product is sales and service is a foreign language not spoken. They are great at what they are able to do, just keep your expectations low. So fortunate for them to have the University clients as a captive audience, they are successful despite themselves. read more

I've dealt with Simple Computer Victoria a few times and every time I'm amazed that my impression of them could get any lower, but it always does. Terrible phone manners whenever I call (expertly straddling abusive and complacent), an overall reluctance to help me with any issue (something that any other apple dealer takes care of quickly without a problem) and a service department that actually makes me yearn for dealing with my mobile phone operator. Terrible service. Would not recommend at all. They received our phone for a battery replacement, and ended up wiping the phone. There was zero need to do anything to the phone - shut the phone off, take off the back panel, replace the battery, DONE. There was no warning that this would be done, either. I was terribly disappointed by the service at simply computing. I had to explain the problem three times to the intake clerk - they continued to suggest that it was something else that was wrong with the computer. Most frustratingly, they told me that they would not be able to fix the problem if they could not recreate it in the store - totally understandable. Fortunately, the problem was happening as I spoke to the clerk and later the technician. For some reason, they could not fathom that this was the issue, and instead ran software checks. When I got the computer back, they told me that the issue had indeed been fixed. Unfortunately, as soon as I got home, the same simple problem continued, despite assurances at several points throughout the process that it would be fine. I am now faced with going to another mac repair store despite the fact that simply computing kept my computer for more than a week. Essentially they kept my computer for that time to wipe down the screen and keyboard. NOTE: They made a huge deal of buffing the computer on the way out. Much appreciated. read more

Me and my mom went there to buy two computers for the school year. When we went in, the service was okay but nothing special and pretty rude. After TWO HOURS of attempting to figure out all the details (which it felt like we were talking to a wall) we finally figured out the details and went to purchase the computers only for the salesperson to go to the back and tell us that they were OUT OF STOCK. Why they didn't check before we put our info in was incredibly stupid. They said that they'd call when they got a new shipment in, which they said would be by the end of the week. This was a month ago and we never got a call back after I called them for those first weeks. They were extremely short on the phone and after much frustration we decided to go to Best Buy where the prices were the same with much better service. I took my MacBook Pro to Kim at Simply in Victoria and he verified that it was still under warranty. I left it with him on Friday expecting a call from the Tech on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). I didn't hear from Sascha Pannwitz on Tuesday so I dropped in Wednesday and he told me that he had contacted Apple which had agreed to replace the screen without charge. Nice news!! Sascha called me Friday to say the delivery of the replacement screen was delayed by the snow storm in the US so I went to the store and picked up the Pro to use through the weekend. Sascha phoned me on Tuesday that the screen was in and I took the computer back to the store. It was repaired within an hour and I returned to pick it up. The store was full (2 customers) and I waited outside in a hail storm. I started to return to shelter in my car and a colleague of Sascha's (didn't get his name) saw me walking away and he ran out to deliver the repaired MacBook to the car. It just doesn't get any better than that. I was very pleased with the communications about the delay in replacement parts, the speed of the actual repair, and the kindness of delivering the unit to my car in the storm. 100% all round. I was very unimpressed with the service I received here. There seemed to a be a big disconnect between the customer service staff and the technicians. I came in because I was experiencing problems with my computer shutting off unexpectedly when not connected to power. I missed a call from the technician several days after dropping off my machine - in the message he claimed that he hadn't been able to find anything wrong with it and that I should come pick it up. I went to the store to pick up the machine and I tried turning it on while on battery power in the store. Sure enough, nothing had been fixed and the computer shut down unexpectedly. When I noted that the problem hadn't been resolved to the customer service staff member, he became defensive and told me he didn't know anything about that and also alerted me that the technician who had been working on my computer wouldn't be in for several days. I asked what my options were and he also said he didn't know. Ultimately I took back my machine and paid to fix it at another local repair shop instead. read more

Once again, good service and problem solved by Jessica at Simply Computing. I had gone in a couple of weeks earlier with a old cord for my laptop that was not working, it was such an old cord that it used a small adapter to clip into the magnetic connection. I did not know if it was the cord or the little adaptor. A few quick test and low and behold it was the cord. the the fellow who was serving me asked if I wanted to replace it. He assumed I wanted the game one (that used the adapter) and I assumed he had read my mind and was getting a newer one that did not need an adaptor. In the following two weeks, I lost the little adaptor and the receipt and scuffed up the box the cord came in. So, I go back, cap in hand and Jessica comes up with a solution. They clean up the box, so they can send it somewhere to be repackaged and instead of charging me a restocking fee, they find me cord without a box that does not need the little adapter that I have lost. I think many places would simply have said "sorry pal, no receipt, damaged packaging, see you later." Okay, I am a good customer. I've being buying computers from Simply in both Victoria and Vancouver for 20 years. I find them pleasant and very helpful. I make it a point to save up any questions I have and go in and book an hour training session with Jessica once or twice a year. And I listen whenever I am in there if she is teaching. I would certainly recommend one of the orientation courses if you are buying something new to you. read more

If you want an easy and smooth process, STAY AWAY FROM SIMPLY. I had a broken laptop and got it fixed at Simply, and the majority of the staff was incredibly unhelpful - first of all, they did not listen to me at all, and it was very difficult to actually communicate what was wrong since they just interrupted and talked over me. The man I talked to at the front desk was clearly so unknowledgeable, which became an issue when he communicated incorrect information to the technician (because he didn't listen to me and did not understand basic info about computers) that would have resulted in my entire hard drive being wiped unnecessarily. I ended up having to go back, and talk to a different employee. She was very helpful and luckily was able to undo the mistakes of the first employee. Ultimately, she and the computer technician were both great and my laptop was fixed; however, getting to that point was such a mess because of the first man I spoke with and the manager. I sincerely would not recommend them at all. I was also shocked at how incredibly rude the men who worked the front desk were to all customers, especially the manager who should not be in charge as he seems rude and honestly just uninformed about his own job. There seemed to be some internalized biases, and they did not respect the women they spoke to nearly as much as the male customers. Shout out to the woman who helped me, and the computer tech - they are both too good for this business. read more

Their service was frankly quite awful, and their prices are extraordinarily high. They are taking advantage of their limited knowledge customer base. I brought in a Macbook Pro that needed a new hard drive cable. They charged me a $60 diagnosis fee to identify the problem. Afterwards, I got a phone call letting me know that the hard drive cable needed to be replaced. They let me know that the cost of the repair would be $190. I looked up the cable on amazon, and it costs $35, the repair is supposed to only take 20 minutes. I can't believe they would charge so much money for something like this. On top of that, I phoned their location about 10 times over a period of two days, and could not get a response. I even left a voicemail. Finally, I had to go into the store to get a response from them. I'm truly blown away that they couldn't even answer their phone, or return a message. In summary, this location will charge an exorbitantly high price for their services, and awful slow and limited communication about the process. I will never go back here, and I will make sure to never recommend this place to anyone. BAD, stay away read more

I had a chat with an Apple rep who suggested I go here to get a manufacturing defect with my brand new iPhone's screen repaired, under the free coverage they offer. When explicitly asked if it would just be a swap or if they had the option to repair, I was told it was up to the business how they wanted to handle it, but that a repair was possible. Simply "We don't repair iPhones" Computing did not come through, instead stating that if they had a replacement they'd give me that, otherwise they'd order a new one from Apple. It's sad to see repair being lost to disposable electronics. I do not want a new phone. I want you to do a 30 minute repair and give me my old one back. Surely that's ultimately cheaper than just handing out a new phone. Edit: Seeing as I can not directly reply, I will do so here: Gord, what you are saying directly contradicts what Apple themselves told me. I was told it was up to the business to decide if they wanted to do a repair or replacement. Regardless of what the strategy in place is, everyone should be saying the same thing, right? I see there are some negative reviews about this place, but maybe things have changed since they were left. I brought in a MacBook I recently bought new from apple's website and it shipped with some marks on the screen. Unlike some other Apple repair places in town, they were able to look at my screen right when I walked in instead of making an appointment, and I was able to take it home while they waited for the part to be shipped. I'd tried London drugs previously and they said I had to make an appointment just to drop my computer off, where it would sit on the shelf for a few days before the tech would even look at it to order the part. I'm self employed and this is my business computer, so having to go days without it to fix a problem it shipped from Apple with isn't too cool. Simply computing was great for this - I got to keep my computer, and they called me when the part arrived. I dropped it off the next morning and they called to say it was ready a couple hours later. I was very disappointed with how Simply Computing handled my computer issues. I brought in a MacBook Pro with a swollen battery that had in turn caused my track pad to shatter. While I received kind and fair customer service, the response on my diagnostic was untrue. I was told that due to the battery issue my computer was not repairable. Their suggestion was to put the 50$ diagnostic fee I originally paid towards a new computer bought in-store. I couldn't believe my computer was totally dead so I chose to seek a second opinion and dropped the computer off at an actual Apple retail store in Vancouver. Not only was my computer totally operable but, Apple did all the repairs for FREE! I feel as though simply computing did lazy work and we're taking advantage of my situation for an easy sale. I had a similar frustrating experience as some of these other reviewers had. A couple of years ago went in to have my hard drive diagnosed and if needed, replaced. The store manager did not write the problem down clearly for the tech to understand properly. The tech was very helpful, but had no understanding of what the problem was due the GMs lack of detail on the job order. The manager also mistyped my password on the job order, which required a phone call with the tech. I also had to correct a important typo on the work order screen because he wasn't paying attention to anything I said. When I first arrived I told the manager that my hard drive was clicking. I used the term "click of death" which should have been clear to him what the problem was. However, I had to reiterate the problem to him after he misrepresented it to me and then he said, "you mean you actually heard a clicking sound". Yes, that's what I said right from the start. The hard drive was clicking. The manager said if he were me you wouldn't waste money on fixing my computer, but then turned around and tried to sell me a used computer that was barely newer than the one I needed serviced. He did not even enquire as to what I use my computer for or how many computers I own. In conclusion, I found the service tech to be excellent, but was extremely disappointed in the store manager. I visited Simply Computing several months ago for a minor technical matter, spoke with a young man there, found him to be very condescending and decided that I wasn't going to do business with the store. At present I am shopping for a new Apple to replace my ancient MacBook Pro. After my one experience and considering all the negative comments here I think I will stick to my game and shop elsewhere.
