I truly believe my review would have been as glowing as the preceeding post, had this business accepted the work I had offered them...
I dropped my husband's MacBook Air off to have it's cracked screen replaced. I also asked them to investigate some strange behaviour the laptop had been exhibiting since upgrading to OSX Mavericks, which seemed to be related to the battery.
My husband's MacBook, was very expensive, as it a custom model built by Apple, so I didn't feel comfortable entrusting it's repair to just anyone. I had been checking reviews online for a week prior, and saw some good things about these guys. I even went in to speak with them beforehand. The guy I spoke with was very helpful, and seemed extremely interested in my issues, and genuinely excited about carrying out the necessary repairs.
I dropped off the laptop on a Thursday, and they said It should have been ready early the following week. I happened to be shopping in the area on Monday, so I popped in to check if there was any progress on my husband's computer.
Here is where things started to get weird...
As I entered, there was a young lady seated in the customer area of the shop, who turned out to be the girlfriend of the technician I had previously spoken with. I asked him if they had made any progress on the laptop, and I was somewhat surprised, when he said they hadn't been able to get to it yet. That was fine though, as I could tell they were very busy.
What I found weird, was the behaviour of the technician. His calm, friendly and knowledgable demeanour had changed to anxious uncertainty. He made me feel as if I was a nuisance, and that they'd get to it when they were ready to, no sooner. Also odd, was the way his girlfriend ran right over to the counter, and started quietly talking to him the second I began walking toward the door. It seemed like it was something about me, but I was certain I must have been letting my imagination run away on me.
By Thursday, my husband's impatient questions were getting to me, so I stopped in, assuming they would have at least a progress report, which I could relay to my anxious husband.
Instead of a progress report, the technician said he would not be performing any repairs on the laptop, and handed it back to me. When i asked why, he muttered something about the protective vinyl skin that was installed on the bottom on the laptop, and that it was 'in his way'. He could have just unscrewed it, with the vinyl on, as all the screw holes were exposed, or if it bothered him that much, he could have easily peeled it off.
Luckily, there was no charge, but I had lost a week on getting my husband's laptop repaired, as they hadn't even replaced the cracked screen! (I had even purchased the screen previously, all they had to do was install it)
Conclusion?
Confusion. I'm not sure what occurred, between dropping off the laptop, and having it handed back to me? Was it the girlfriend? Were they too busy? Was it incompetence, or maybe just immaturity?
Who knows? Who cares...?
Possibly you should. I was very disappointed with my experience at Mac Pros. I am also still somewhat offended and confused over what transpired...
The only certainty in my mixed-up experience with their service, is that Mac Pros, performed more like Mac Semi-Pros, no actually make that Mac AmatureNight... read more
