I found an IMac in my building's recycling. I plugged it in and it worked but was password protected. I called Apple and they said it couldn't be unlocked and to put it back in recycling. I took it in to Simply Computing and Lachlan ran a diagnostic test, wiped it back to factory settings and installed a new Apple OS. It works fine now. I was thrilled! If you like being studiously ignored as a walk in customer, then this is the place for you. I walked in hoping to purchase an iPhone. While the staff were helping other customers, not one of them said, "Hello, can I help you?" Two of them came out of the back rooms, looked at me then returned to the back rooms. One fellow walked by me three times without so much as a "Hello, can I help you?" I stood around for over ten minutes, playing with the iPhone 16 they had on display, then left. While their technical expertise may be exemplary, these employees certainly need some lessons in customer service. A simple, "can I help you?" would have convinced me to stay. read more

I have been using Macs since 2007 and have dealt with Apple on line, Mac Specialty Retailers and then Mac Stores in Metro areas as well as downtown Vancouver where I went thinking I'd get their famous and previously impressive "Experts" and actually was advised incorrectly, simple honest mistake, by a rep at so-called head office, so I can say that dealing direct with Apple doen't assure you of never getting a wrong answer. It can happen anywhere. But the service and right answers are abundant and delivered with promptness and courtesy at Simply Computing on Broadway like I've never seen before, by staff even courteous and helpful to each other, so when you're in there, you feel like like you're being helped by a whole team of professionals and you are. I don't know why others have given some poor reviews but I know when things go wrong we public tend to blame the pros for answers we don't like and I've been guilty of that before too. They helped me with difficulties not only with cell phones but with iWatches too, and even with increasing Ram, allowed me to drive over to the supplier to pick up hardware and save some $$ to boot. They are all great there and sure know their business. Can't say enough good things about them. Even free parking and you can get help carrying in heavy items to be fixed via the back door. i was sold Simply's warranty after requesting Applecare for my iphone. when i pointed out that the warranty would not be of any value if Simply went out of business I was assured that would never happen. Months later the kelowna store closed. when i inquired at the kamloops store by phone (had to leave a message because the phone isn't answered) email and text I was finally told i could come to the kamloops store for service. that is a three hour round trip! when i advised that that wasn't what i bargained for i received no response. There is no reason to prefer booking here for service on apple products over booking at the Apple Store. They Simply charge more for less and slower work. I was told a diagnostic on AirPods would take 3-5 business days - apple does it on the spot. - when asked why it would take so long I was told "that's the process." To replace my iPhone battery I was told that would take around 5-6 business days - again no further explanation as to why. When I've had it repaired elsewhere it was done within 3 hours. I was quoted $150 for this service when I've had it done before for $110 To fix a broken key on my keyboard I was told that would take 8-9 business days. Which just seems like way to long. - again no explanation as to why. If you value your time and money do not go here. More expensive for less. Doesn't make sense. read more

I am not really sure why so many people have given this place a one-star review. I have always had really great experiences here. For sure, not every problem can be resolved but that's not necessarily the staff's fault - computers age and expire. I have found the pricing always fair and the staff pleasant and understanding of my needs. One thing that really stood out to me when I was in last week - while I was waiting, there were quite a few older people in there that clearly struggle with technology in their older age and the staff was so kind and caring explaining things and teaching them what went wrong or how to use their technology. I thought it really showed true community spirit and compassion. That's the kind of place I want to support! read more

Then they tried to blame it on a "glitch" with Apple software update. They refused to return my money -- just one day after I bought it. Went there due to issues with my laptop not turning on even if it was plugged in to a charger. The woman that assisted me was quite nice and helpful and sent my laptop into have a diagnostic check because she also could not figure out why it wouldn't turn on and noted that down in the initial report. They said the check would take 3-4 business days and I could check the status update online. After a week (5 business days) I had not heard anything, nor was I able to check the status online. I called them and all lines were busy so I left a message. After a few hours, I called back again and was able to talk to someone who was surprised to hear that my laptop had been in service that long and said there was a work order and put me on hold to get things cleared up. I hung up after being on hold for an hour...... I called back but there lines were busy again and I didn't bother leaving a message. After an hour, I called back again and was able to talk to someone and once again told them the situation and that I had been on hold for an hour. They said they were going to check the status of my laptop and that I would only be on hold for two minutes and luckily they stuck to their word! They said that my diagnostics check was just finishing up. This suggested to me that the first person I talked to on the phone that day lied about the work order and put me on hold for that long to stall, to get the diagnostics check done...not impressed! read more

I know the Mac store recommends this place once your computer is more than 5 years old ( not obsolete, but vintage, LOL) so I took my MacBook Pro here. The woman at the Mac store told I'd likely just need a new battery, but they didn't have them in stock. She quietly suggested opening the back and jiggling it around, something I'm uneasy to do. She told me to go to Simply on Broadway. Which I did. Was told there would be a diagnostic fee for 50 dollars or so. I get that, but when they called they told me my computer was as running slow ( duh!) and to fix it I either needed an SDD drive $500 or so!) or more ram. ( 200 or so) went for the ram, as was the cheaper option. I asked about the battery and they said it was fine. Not true! Went to pick it up and they didn't even show me that it worked. I was charged around $250. Payable on pickup. I'm no dummy so I checked it out in the store. Seemed to work fine with a quick check. Got home and still had the same problem as when I brought it in. Note, still had the x battery signal, which I assume had been fixed. I called and was told to bring it back in but they would charge me the diagnostic fee! What diagnosis fee? They don't even diagnose it in the first place! They did not fix it or offer any garauntee! At this point I was not going to buy any more from them as they pressure me into buy s**t I don't need. I'm not going to pay $750 in total for a 6 year old machine that only cost me $ 1100 in the first place. Still needed a computer and took money out of my savings to buy a refurbished from a local dealer. The icing on the cake is one year later I got a strongly worded email saying if I did not pay $250 immediately they would send it to a collection agency! How would I be charged that when you have to repay upon people pickup? I sent a screen shot of a charge from them on the date they claimed, and I gave them a piece of my mind! All of the above, I payed too much, computer not fixed, and now being charged twice to top it off.! I got an email back from a manager who replied sometimes our employees make a mistake. So it seems no one is accountable for their mistakes, including repair. This all happened a year ago. Broken computer sat around all this time, and my newer one just stopped working. This time I took them to the Hackery, and they said I just needed a new battery! They even installed it no charge! ( I'd bought the battery elsewhere) Was dealing with Simply Computing a good idea? No! I'm kind of cheesed Apple recommends this place and still does . All my repairs from now on will go to the Hackery . You can bet I tell every Mac owner I know not to go to Simply! read more

Booked an appointment for my Apple MBP 2015 to have the battery replaced under the Apple Battery Recall program. Was told when checking my machine in that even though it was an Apple covered repair, there would be a charge of around $50 if "accidental damage" was found, and if so, I'd lose that money and not get the repair either. This was not mentioned when making the reservation, and, having taken time off work to organise this, left extremely dissatisfied. Poor customer service and total lack of remorse. read more

I purchased an apple home pod. I went with the larger one. I wanted to return it since it was disappointing for the money, it wouldn't stay connected to wifi. I didn't realize there was a 30 day return policy, there are no physical locations near to me so I called to arrange a return by mail. I was declined because I was past the 30 days. I can't believe that for almost $500 they have a ridiculous 30 day window. I called in and talked to a person that was very unhelpful and not service oriented at all. This is NOT an Apple service provider no matter what they say. I arrived for an 11 am appointment booked through Apple Support and they laughed in my face saying Apple appointments are meaningless to them. After a 30 minute wait and my being on the phone to Apple support as customers behind me were helped some guy came out and in seconds got my MacBook to start (insinuating it was easy and I should troubleshooted with Apple before I came. When I got home the MacBook was still broken. After more time online with Apple it was clear it was very broken. I then made an appointment with London Drugs and it was totally different. LD actually cares. MacBook was so broken (there were other issues Simply Computing didn't bother to question) they recommended that it go to Apple. This is the 2nd time this place has offered me no service after a long wait. Don't waste your time. read more

They are knowledgeable and pretty helpful, however calling in is a total pain in the ass. These guys unfortunately never pick up the phone, or so it seems. First: they charge me 50 bucks fee for diagnostic when the Apple store is happy to do it for free and on the same day! Second: they sell me a pre-owned MacBook Pro claiming that is an open box and it is the deal of the century. 4 months later the labtop's screen starts acting funny. I take it to Simply Computing and they say sorry you have Simply Guard Lite and it doesn't cover the cost of the repair. You have to pay $1000 for repair!!! Third: I take the laptop to the apple store for free of charge diagnostic and when they looked out the serial number, they find out that the previous owner bought the labtop in 2017 not 2020! And worse this MacBook Pro has already gone through a major hardware repair in 2018 by an authorized dealer! I wonder if it is Simply Computing? Like WTF? Did they just sell me their garbage? Keep in mind I am a full time student who lost their job because of this virus and this was my first apple product and the seller knew that. I honestly feel that I have been taken advantage of. Very difficult to get on the phone. Expensive. I wanted to replace my macbook's battery. Their price was exactly the same as the Apple store's. Probably means it's the actual Apple part. The difference is... for the rather steep price, Apple installs it. Simply charges extra. All the nicer when you know MBPs' batteries can be quite incompatible from model to model and year to year. So you'd probably be stuck with a restocking fee if that happened, because it would be your fault for sure, never theirs. So... same price, less service than Apple? I'll pass thanks. The Hackery or Apple itself seems like the better idea. 'sides, I had to call half a dozen times and leave 2 messages before someone finally decided to call back, a day later. Then, because I had left 2 messages, another person called me back after his colleague, 3 days after I that message. read more

This place is brutal. I originally came in on a Wednesday to get my phone replaced though apple care +. The customer service rep wrote me a work order which stated it would take 2-3 business days, and to error on the side of 3 day's. The protocol that was presented to me was that they had to send in my destroyed phone and apple would send my replacement back. I dropped by two days later on the Friday to check the status to find out it had not been mailed out and it would now take 5-10 business days. Fast forward to two Saturday's later and I get a message saying they're waiting for my confirmation to send out my "repair" and that it would now take a month. During this time I had written correspondance emails, called and a left voice mail message and got no replies. There was more direct miscommunication that happened during this transaction that has made this one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever been a part of. Do not come to this place for any Apple service. Just deal with Apple directly. read more

This place in appearance gives a glossy, Apple perfect world of service, care and quality. I am a strong believer in supporting smaller businesses and making a place that values in genuine care and customer service to be my priority choice to shop. After my experience of dealing with the front end staff here, their lack of respect and care to make a customer shopping experience within the seven days of a transaction was horrible and disappointing. When i asked the lease department assistant to assist with the return process in providing a response, no call and communication on part, which I did asked her specifically to do the day prior. Her simple answer was I was too busy! . No thank you... Let me take my spending elsewhere that respect and care about customer service values a tad more. read more

I purchased the top of line iMac from Simply Computer. I also ordered a cash drawer for the iMac which took a long time, two months to get in. The people there could not help me with making the cash drawer work with my Lightspeed POS. A few years later, when I requested service for for the iMac, I was referred to call their business account executive. I left messages as the line was a recording, and was never phoned back. Seems to me, these people are simply wanting to sell new computers and service contract, and not to deal with the repairs even if the computer was purchased there. I have mixed feelings about this place. I bought a refurbished Macbook pro at a pretty good price here because my old one's logicboard had died the Friday before the last weekend I had to work on a school project. First I brought it to the Apple Store. The Apple store, although busy (apparently "Black Friday" happens in Canada too, damn) honored my appointment, listened to my needs, diagnosed the issue for free, and then told me I may be good with a Macbook Air (the cheaper option.) I needed to think, since I was totally unprepared to buy a whole new computer. I went back to work. Decided, "shit, I need this now." Went to Simply Computing which is closer to see what they had. I was immediately pushed to the most expensive option and told I would be unsatisfied with less. I asked some questions about less expensive options, but all answers came across as deliberately negative. If there hadn't been a refurbished Macbook at a better price I would have just left right there and gone back to the Apple store for some more thorough answers. The salesgirl was pleasant, but definitely pushy and did not give me very much information on the less expensive Macbook Airs. I asked if they could recover my data. Considering I was making a pretty large purchase, and I was in a bind I would hope they'd offer something, but apparently they would charge me $100 to transfer my stuff, PLUS an extra $50 just because my Macbook wouldn't turn on. Instead I opted for a hard drive case, some You Tube searches, and a tech friend, and it turned out a pretty simple job despite never having done it before, and things transferred as we played board games. $150 they'd charge for that? AFTER spending over $1000? Psh. read more

Very good service in my experience. Would give a 5 star rating but the MacBook Pro I bought did not work and the replacement was a different colour (no biggy actually but they don't allow 1/2 stars). However, they were SUPER fast and very friendly in replacing it. I was impressed at how well I was treated. I also learned a lot from listening to the technicians. Wow, I'm stunned at the high ratings. I've been in this store four times. Twice I wandered around trying to get the attention of a salesperson, but every time I made eye contact, they would quickly look down at their screens and busily type away. Nary a 'someone will be with you shortly'. I left both times after a reasonable amount of time. The third time I was checking to see if they had stock of a recently discontinued model, and the salesperson was unaware that the new model had even been introduced. Always sad when a hobbyist is more on top of things than a sales rep. The fourth time I dropped by to pick up an item that was out of stock at Future Shop. It was about 50% more expensive at Simply, and when I mentioned that to the sales clerk he replied that they can't offer the same prices as Future Shop because Simply provides a better user experience. Take $400 worth of hardware in for service (AirPort Base Stations), some of it purchased from their Victoria store. Asked to leave it as the service guy is out for lunch. Play telephone tag all afternoon and finally receive an estimate of $49. I ask them to proceed but then told I must prepay. Surprised, I explain that I've never had to prepay for Apple repairs, even at their Victoria store. They say it's policy. I need my stuff fixed so I'm ready to give them my credit card info but then I'm told "You may have a credit number but we have no way of knowing if it's your number. We don;t take credit cards over the phone." So now they're expecting me to come back to the store, give them my credit card info, them come back again once my stuff is repaired? I'm going to the store, pick up my equipment and never walk into any of their stores again. read more

My good ol' mac was starting to fail on me, and since I needed it for work, I decided to buy a new one last November. Instead of going to the Mac store, I went here because of their loan offer. When my friend and I went to check it out the first time, the sales staff helped us right away, and we bombarded him with questions. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Though I was devastated when he kept saying that Photoshop 5 files will not open in 6. I thought I was doomed, only to find out later that that was not the case. After much research, I returned to finally make the order. The same sales guy was there to help me, but the order took forever. Not sure why. I simply can't be the first person to ever buy a computer from them. There was an older couple who waited for assistance, but since staff were occupied and it wasn't going anywhere, they left after a while. Sheepie became a bit restless after a while too. I decided to take on the 12 months of interest-free monthly payments. You could do up to 48 months, but after the 12 months, your interest was like 19%! So I would pay off the remainder at the end of 1 year to avoid such interest. Because the total is broken up into 48 months, each month's installments are quite low. I would like it a bit higher, so that I am not having to pay a huge chunk at the end of 12 months, but still, it does give me time to save up in the meantime. I also kept asking what my monthly payments were, but it seemed like it was a mystery to him and I sort of assumed it was the amount as I peered over on his screen. Two or three days later, I got the phone call from the guy saying that my custom iMac has been ordered. Yay! A day later, he called again to tell me that financing went through and I will start being charged monthly. 3 days later, I get a call again saying that he would be able to get $100 off by getting a computer that was already built and the store would install the 32GB RAM upgrade that I had originally ordered. He said this would be cheaper, so I said, why not. 3 days later, I got another call and was told to come into the store to sign the order form for release. He now said something like on the lines that installing 32GB themselves would be more expensive - or something happened - I can't recall now...he even said for all the time and inconvenience that he would still give me the small discount. That never did happen. Things dragged on, and it wasn't until a month later that I finally got my iMac! Luckily, I didn't have much work at that time, so using the old iMac sufficed. Otherwise, if you're in business and need products fast, I would likely have been extremely frustrated with their service. It took more time than buying my new Yaris! read more

I bought a screen protector from this store back in Oct 2013 when i got my iPhone 5S and the staff put on the screen protector for free! Shocked and pleasantly surprised! The other times I've been here, i can honestly say if you know what you're getting, just make the purchase and get out, and you'll be satisfied. When I actually asked them for service, they overcharge significantly for RAM and for installation and testing. I ended up getting the RAM from NCIX or eGlobal and just installing myself for my home mac mini, macbook pro, and my work iMac. Saved hundreds by not going through them. read more

Back in 2007, I went to this place for repairing a powerbook's hard disk and they had a very good and fast service. At those days, there were no Apple stores in Vancouver and Simply was the best place for Mac related stuff. Since then, I've been always visiting Apple stores for Apple related purchases. Couple of weeks ago, I received a promotion for Mac financing and I thought it would be good to pay a visit to Simply. As I had a good experience with them before, my assumption was that they should offer a super friendly, fast, and relaxed experience as they now should compete with Apple store. But it was a wrong assumption. I found this place quite irrelevant. Compared to apple store, they are understaffed, and unfriendly. Their stock is always low, and they don't have every thing that you want in stock. The sales staff seems unwilling to deal with you and sell you products !! Generally, I feel very unwelcome in the store and didn't enjoy my experience. So, these were all bad things. But about relevancy, they are actually relevant for two things: 1- you can finance your equipment here. 2- you can buy used Apple products. So if you want any of these two, Simply is a reasonable choice. Otherwise, there is no single reason to shop here. read more
