Just got back from Hawaii and was craving for some bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) to help with my chest congestion and cough. In addition to the bun bo hue, I also ordered their vermicelli salad special with beef, shrimp, egg roll and chicken, their lunch combo of chicken lo mein, and chicken with mixed vegetables. The lo mein noodles were a little dried for my liking since I was expecting that it would be more sauce and softer but it tasted a little burnt. I didn't try the chicken with mix vegetables but it looked like it was done properly and I will probably ordered it with Stan rice next time done the fried rice didn't look appealing like normal Vietnamese/Chinese fried rice. I was a little disappointed in egg roll in the vermicelli salad because the wrapper was totally burnt and very dried. If not carefully bite, the crispiness of the wrapper could cut your gum. I was disappointed in the bun bo hue because it was not spicy, the broth was very bland with just a little pieces of meat. The container that had the noodles burn the mint leaves because it was too warm. I usually ask them to separate out the herbs from the noodles to avoid it being burn to brown. I feel like the bun bo hue had gone down hill. It use to be the best or at least my top three places to order from because their broth is steaming hot and spicy without tasting like too much MSG or salty! read more

Ordered for delivery as this was the only pho place I could find delivering to Eagan. Well, I got lucky as I think this might also be some of the BEST pho I've had! Went to Simplee Pho the other day for dinner. I ordered the special Vietnamese rice noodle salad which came with chicken, pork, shrimp, and eggroll. First things first the eggroll was massive and filled with meat. It wasn't as crispy as I like but it was huge so it makes up for that. The flavors of the meat were all very tasty. I especially liked the shrimp. I mostly ate the toppings and did not eat much of the noodle salad itself. The waitress was very nice and fast. Not a bad place to go to in the suburbs! The egg rolls were soggy and oily, the spring rolls were cold with the paper a bit hard and dry (most likely premade and was in the fridge for too long)...anyone can make spring rolls, so the sauce is the most important thing to make the dish tasty...the sauce a not good at all. I also ordered their mix special vermicelli salad...oh my, it was not very edible. I had to throw it away. All the meats tasted the same and the marination was not very good. Favorite new Asian restaurant in the area. They, like others in Apple Valley, are a Vietnamese restaurant that also serves an extensive selection of Chinese dishes. I've tried about 5 of the Vietnamese dishes, including two pho, and they have all been excellent, especially their Vietnamese egg rolls. The egg rolls are a meal in themselves. They are crispy and flaky in the outside and stuffed with chicken and veggies and a great seasoning mix. Only miss so far is their pad thai, which is more sweet and syrupy than most and kind of bland. Chinese food is very good as well. Small little restaurant by Dunn Brothers. Service is fast. I have done take-out each time but they had their small dining room full of diners every time I've visited. read more

I've been to Simplee Pho a couple of times since they've opened. And, they were two distinctly different experiences. I will start with the positive. For my first trip I went with their pork bun (Vietnamese rice noodle salad) and upgraded to include an egg roll. In addition, I ordered butterfly shrimp as an appetizer. The noodle salad was really good with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked rice noodles. The pork is cooked with a quite a bit of onions. So, if you are like me and hate onions, be sure to ask for no onions when ordering. The butterfly shrimp was good. Another reviewer on here referenced not getting much shrimp and mostly batter. That was not my experience. Overall, if I was just going with this visit, Simplee Pho would have scored 4 stars easily. However, I went back to to try their Chinese menu. I went with the all-American choice of General Tso ordered from their dinner combo list which is really reasonably priced and includes both an egg roll and cream cheese wonton. Anyhow, this was a major disappointment. The chicken was heavily battered and over-sauced. To add insult to injury, the broccoli suffered the same fate of the chicken. This trip on its own would have been 2 stars. So, my final advice is to check this place out for its Vietnamese menu. I'm looking forward to going back to try their Pho next. read more

The place looks mediocre inside. The service although they serve Vietnamese dishes when I asked for a dish in Vietnamese they didn't understand me and I know it's not because of my accent because I've used it in other places because I always order that particular dish. The food is ok because I'm spoiled by EAT street and University Ave. food. It's a 3 because there was too much pork meat in their eggrolls so I only ate the outside shell and she gave me a funny "how dare you not finish your food you wasteful person" look on something I paid for. read more

Very impressed by this hole in the wall pho place in the suburbs. Simplee pho is definitely no-frills but offers fair prices and decent pho. I loved the broth but only small thing was that it was a bit oily. Mine wasn't too bad because I had no meat in mine (just noodles), but my sister's was visibly more oily than mine. We got the shrimp spring rolls to share as an appetizer but it came after our phone, which didn't make sense to me... Also my Vietnamese iced coffee I ordered came almost after my meal was finished. Portion was smaller than what I'm used to but not terrible. Besides from the off service timing, I enjoyed their pho and would come back if I was in the area. read more

Ode to Simplee Pho!!!!! Talk about flavorful and soul filling food!!! This place was recommended by a friend that lives in the area. I drove about 30 miles to check it out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There were soooo many yummy things on the menu... it was hard to choose just one entree. I went with the vegetarian pho which was delicious! I also had the vegetarian egg rolls which had the perfect amount of flavor and crisp. They offer lunch specials and combination meals. I can't wait to visit this place again! read more

Avoid this place! Majority of the time they won't pick up their phone and if you go in to place the order they get mad at you and say you need to call. Well we do try and call and you don't pickup! On top of that they constantly change their "rules". Every time I order its a different story. I want to PAY to upgrade from a side of rice to a side of Lo Mein. You get a different answer every time. 1. Thats fine 2. You can only upgrade to Lo Mein with the dinner specials. 3. You can't upgrade to Lo Mein even with a dinner special if its Fri, Sat, or Sun. 4. No we can't do that. Seriously get your business straight and provide consistent service. Also, the way they package their Pho to go is horrible; you'll receive a giant ball of stuck together noodles. read more

Always order the Pho along with other things on the menu. I am vegetarian and this is the only place around Apple valley and Lakeville that has Veggie Broth. Not sure why the noodles were so thick.... overall, it didn't sit well with my taste buds. I hope my review doesn't discourage too many from trying them out if you live in the area. We had the fried rice, general tso chicken and egg rolls. Loved everything. This has been our go to Chinese food spot for 2 years now.

I really like their egg rolls. Their pho and bun bo hue isn't the best. I think it's how they prepare their broth, they use a paste that doesn't sit well with my taste buds. I'm not a huge fan of their fatty cuts of meat for the pho. It's quite stringy. Still, it's in Apple Valley, so it saves a 30 min or so trip into the cities. This is where I buy my Pho from. Usually when I am craving pho and I want it to be good and quick, this place comes in mind. I never eat inside for one reason, I never finish my Pho in one sitting. So I want to come back to it 20 minutes later and re-harvest it. The order process is easy and their English is great. Picking up was simple. By the time I was there, the food was bagged and ready to go. Coming home, I found everything that supposed to be in the bag and nothing was missing. All the items are bagged separately and neatly. I swear I reviewed this place before. The lunch and dinner specials are a good value. They include fried rice as a choice instead of a ridiculous upcharge like other places do. I like chicken and brocolli and chicken with vegetables. Today I ordered a shrimp noodle salad with eggroll. This was really filling and I only ate half of it. My only tiny complaint is to use leaf lettuce or romaine. Iceberg is so cheapy. The noodles were placed on top of lettuce also. The cucumber and carrots were in a separate part of the Styrofoam container. One probably should have put in a bowl at home and tossed. The cut up peanuts weren't necessary. This would suck to someone with a peanut allergy. Next time I may ask if they can make me a Mock Duck Bahn Mi sandwich. They have mock duck and tofu on the menu. The bahn mi sandwich selections are chicken, pork and beef. The egg rolls are are definitely homemade and large. The value for food is good too. Other family members like the food too. I'm telling you right now that I'm a tough critic when it comes to Vietnamese food. I come from a Vietnamese heritage, and eat Vietnamese food on the daily, so it has a special place in my heart. My boyfriend and I were looking for a bite to eat after seeing a movie in Apple Valley, so we got to Simplee Pho around 8:00pm on a Friday night. Simplee Pho just opened a few months ago, so I was looking forward to seeing what they have to offer. We were immediately seated and given menus. They had a number of customers coming in and out, so I felt this was a good sign. I looked at the menu, and saw that they have plenty of options. They have lunch and dinner specials which is a bonus. My boyfriend ended up getting the sweet & sour chicken dinner special (comes with fried or white rice, an egg roll, and a cream cheese wonton for $8.50) and I got a bowl of egg drop soup ($3.75) and butterfly shrimp (6 for $5.95). While our food was being cooked, I overheard chitter chatter happening in the kitchen. I'm fluent in Vietnamese, so what I heard immediately registered in my ears...the male cook in the back was using Vietnamese cuss words in regards to an inquiry that one of the waitresses brought him. She said a customer had a specific question about their order. He didn't seem too happy with this and began to use cuss words. Minutes later, I saw him come out and speak politely to the customers. Regardless of how he interacted with the customers, I did not like how he responded behind the scenes. I don't think he realized anyone could hear him or understand him, but he was being loud and unprofessional. As a Vietnamese customer, that's embarrassing and disgusting to hear. For the inappropriate language, I had to knock off stars. Most of the food was great. My boyfriend liked the sweet & sour chicken + all of the extra goodies he got with the dish. Their egg rolls are massive and full of meat filling which is never usually the case at other restaurants. The butterfly shrimp was extra crispy and I loved every bite! The one thing I hated was the egg drop soup...this was NOT made properly, and nothing like how egg drop soup should taste. Typically, egg drop soup is runnier and has a lot more flavor. The soup here is essentially scrambled eggs put into a flavorless broth. I couldn't finish it because it simply had no depth. Broth is the base of any soup, and if that isn't made right, it ruins the entire bowl. Based on my first experience here, I'm not completely sold on this business. My overall exact rating of them would have been 2.5 stars. I may come back again to try some other dishes since I did like my butterfly shrimp, but the cook in the back needs to be mindful of the language he uses, so customers who do understand him don't get a bad taste in their mouth. read more

Spicy beef pho didn't have much broth flavor and the fried rice wasn't our favorite (almost black/dark brown) but that is more about the style preference than the quality. This place offers a great option if you're looking to fulfill a craving for Pho. It's not my favorite in the general area, but it still hits the spot! And the price is right. I really enjoy their rare beef pho, occasionally seems a bit oily, but still tastes good. The appetizers here are all pretty good, but the thing that keeps me ordering here are their egg rolls. If you love egg rolls, you need to try these! They are huge and oh so delicious! Occasionally when I have ordered they have been a bit dark/crisp, but it hasn't taken much away from how great they taste. The springs rolls and sauce are the most legit we've found in MN so far! The chicken pho is decent.. the broth is bland Campbell's chicken noodle soup broth, but everything else is right. Noodle portion is great. The spicy beef soup was great! Very spicy and great noodles. Sooo I've been craving some good Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Soup that's slow simmered for over a day). I wanted my soup now but I did not want to go sit inside any restaurant. Simplee Pho popped up as I was searching online for something close to where we live. Simplee Pho is located in Apple Valley right of Galaxie, 2 blocks past the LA Fitness just past Culvers. I placed my order online and picked it up within 20 minutes. We ordered the Special Pho with assorted meats ($10) for my husband, and for me, the Bun Bo Hue ($11) with extra meat ($3)-because a bitch loves a ton of beef in her soup. We also ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls ($5.69). Am I the only one that thinks you don't get as much food when ordering takeout as opposed to dining in restaurant? Specially when ordering Pho to go. Friends...I am happy to report that you will NOT go hungry when ordering from Simplee Pho. Our soups were ginormous! So huge that each of us could only eat half of our meal. My Bun Bo Hue so hit the spot. Serious OMFG! The broth was so flavorful and with just the right amount of spicy...and the meat so tender and so plentiful that now I know next time I won't need to add extra meat. IT. WAS. OMG DELICIOUS! Oh yeah, that good! My husband's Special Pho was just as "OMG delish"! Full of tripe, meatballs and flank galore! Both soups with plenty of noodles as well as heaping portions of mung beans, herbs and yes, plenty of limes. I hate that at alot of restaurants always they only give you one tiny wedge of lime. I don't know about you, but I like a lot of lime in my soup...5 wedges please and thank you. The spring rolls are also a must try. Each roll so big and fresh and full of shrimp, noodles and herbs.
