My wife and I found this place by accident after our original restaurant plans fell through. Since it was in the same strip mall, we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, a young man greeted us from across the restaurant and asked if we were dining in. I said yes, and he told us to sit anywhere we liked. After we sat down, he brought over the menus and immediately asked if we were ready to order. I smiled and let him know we needed a little time since we had never been there before. We looked through the menu and decided to start with the chicken skewer and the crab rangoon. Both were delicious and full of flavor. For our meals, I ordered the chicken banh mi and my wife ordered the Bun Bo Hue. She loved her dish and I really enjoyed my sandwich. They also serve freshly squeezed lemonade, which was excellent. I actually ended up ordering two because it was that good. Service was pretty lackluster. The kid helping us looked like he might not even be in high school yet, so that might explain some of it. The restaurant itself is small and simple inside. Nothing amazing but nothing bad either. Overall, the visit was good. The service wasn't great, but the food made up for it. My favorite spot for pho in the south suburbs. The broth is so flavorful and rich, not too sweet, and not greasy. The Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) is quite spicy but so good. It comes with similar garnishes as pho, but with a shredded cabbage mix. I had the appetizer sampler and the spring rolls tasted fresh and the peanut sauce was good. The fish sauce served with the eggrolls is delicious. The eggrolls are crispy and flavorful -- they're rolled thin with a delightfully crispy wrapper. The cream cheese wontons were good. Their pork and egg roll vermicelli salad is super fresh and the portion is generous. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is strong and sweet -- stir the hot brewed coffee with the condensed milk, then pour the mixture into the glass of ice. Service is consistently friendly and there is plenty of seating. The volume is pretty quiet in the restaurant. When you're ready to pay, head up to the counter. read more

Not much more I can say that hasn't already been said.. the food came out pretty quickly which worked well for us as we were pretty hungry. Everything came out fresh and gradually rather than all at once which gave us time to enjoy each individual dish. We tried the shrimp pho along with potstickers and one chicken and one pork skewer. The one note I would make is that it seemed to us that the chicken skewer was seasoned after the chicken was cooked, rather than marinating and seasoning during preparation. That being said, everything had good flavor and the table was stocked with chili pepper flakes, fish sauce, hoisen sauce and anything else we needed. My girls wanted pho for dinner and I was craving for bun bo hue so we were going to stop at Simplee Pho in Apple Valley but on the way I remembered that there's another pho place closer so w stopped at Pho Valley. It was a bonus that they also offer bun bo hue. My girls are on the no meat pho so just noodles and broth with bean sprouts and lime. The bun bo hue was a little bland but it was good. It was a little pricier than most Vietnamese restaurants in town and has less cha (meatloaf) too since it's sliced super thin versus big chunks like I'm used to at other Vietnamese restaurants. Service was minimum after we got our waters and order in for food. They got busy and had to flag someone down to order some bubble tea for my girls. We have driven by this place many times but have never gone since we have another pho place that we love that is just a bit closer to us. But when your favorite pho place is closed and you really want pho, it's a good chance to try a new pho place! The service was fast and kind, the potstickers were good (dipping sauce was fantastic), and the pho was good. However, it just wasn't our favorite, we weren't blown away by the broth honestly. Definitely solid pho, just nothing too special in my opinion. The restaurant was pretty busy by the time we left on a Monday evening, so I assume others may like it better than we did. If I needed some pho on a Monday, I would be content going back, otherwise I'll probably mostly stick to our usual. read more

Here's a snippet of my interview with some of the staff 5 years ago: A little background: Vietnamese food is known for incorporating its heavy French influence into its historical Asian roots. Its fresh herbs make it floral. It's spicy. It's sweet. It's tropical. But bringing out all these flavors is not trivial. "It takes at least 20 hours to make," said employee, Hung Trinh, about their pho broth. "This is just to develop the flavor," Trinh added. Spending this much time on soup just shows PhoValley's roots in tradition. It's not just a meal. It's a family's legacy. "My aunt had a couple of pho restaurants in Vietnam," Trinh said. First time visiting - and I offer MAJOR thank you for offering DINE-IN options, which many other local Thai and Pho restaurants are not currently offering. 5 stars there. My friend and I ordered a Vegetarian Pho Bowl and a Singapore noodles dish - and both were very tasty. The broth in the Pho was phenomenal with an ample serving size (we ordered the Large...they also offer an XL bowl that must be family sized because the Large could have easily fed 2 people). the Singapore noodles were labeled as "spicy" - but the spice level was very underwhelming. Thankfully, they bring extra spice to the table and we were able to spice it up more ourselves. The service was adequate, not awesome. A bit slow between check-ins and we weighted longer than I would have liked to get our check/togo-box, but all in all it was a good experienced and I'd definitely go back. read more

My family and I, we love Pho Valley. The Pho broth makes me think about homemade soup, but without having to put hours into making it ourselves. It is like the restaurant is our kitchen a few miles from our house. My husband and son love the House Special Lo Mein because it is so flavorful and full of vegetables and meats. I have to agree when I steal some of their food. And, the owners do care about the quality of the food... it is wonderful to get to know them. I would highly recommend this place. So after a lot of debating over a bunch of places to go, my family decided to try this place because it's in the burbs... closer to home versus a drive to eat street in Minneapolis. Read some reviews and it looked safe to try. We showed up as a big group..12 people and two high chairs. My brothers and their family, my kids and I, and my parents. Luckily we had seating since the restaurant isn't very big. We ordered the typical viet food... chicken wings, eggs rolls, spring rolls, pho, and bun bo hue. The service was ok. Our waitress kept forgetting things. Like my daughter's order of meatball pho and her strawberry bubble tea. Food was ok too. Edible but not good enough to come back. The egg roll filling was a bit starchy. The spring rolls had too much noodles. The pho broth was not very aromatic. My teenager decided on $20 pho challenge which I think is decent price for 3lbs of noodles. It was fun to see the giant bowl and watch him struggle because he failed miserably. Haha. The culinary awakening of the southeast metro continues with the addition of PhoValley in Apple Valley. My hope is the local suburbanites welcome each of these new establishments long-term. It's a win for all of us if we can avoid a lifetime of the dining equivalent of "big box" national franchises that has become synonymous with the suburban Twin Cities areas. Anyhow, on to PhoValley! For an appetizer I had their hot & spicy chicken wings. They were okay a lightly seasoned and dipped in buffalo sauce. But, then I had the vermicelli salad with roast pork and egg roll for an entree. A personal favorite of mine, I tend to be very picky and tough reviewing this particular meal. I was not disappointed! The vegetables were fresh, pork tenderly cooked, and egg roll fried crisp. Perfection. In terms of customer experience, I was very pleased. The lady taking my order was professional - polite, helpful, and good with small talk. A few of the other workers acknowledged me and asked if I needed any help while I waited for my take out order when doing their rounds in the restaurant. I really enjoy the Pho. I thought I would try the General Tso and chicken wings. The General Tso was ok but the wings were down right horrible. The wings were tiny, salty, dry on the outside and extremly bloody and raw on the inside. I tossed them. Probably one of the worst things I have ever eaten. This is unacceptable. 0/10 is the worst rating I have given out. Stick with the Pho. Thats what they are known for. Stay away from the other items. Will rate a 4 because of the Pho. We initially were going to go to my boyfriends friends pho restaurant in St. Paul and found out he was closed for memorial weekend, so we did a quick yelp search and decided on this establishment. The wait was a little long for service/food coming out but that is not a complaint, they were completely slammed with only one server who was also the cashier and was helping to buss the tables as well. They weren't anticipating the crowd that went in around when we did and they honestly did a great job considering the circumstances. I'm actually super new to pho and my boyfriend is the one who is best to review it, but we both really enjoyed every single thing we got. We did some appetizers- hot and spicy wings and an appetizer platter with fried shrimp, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon's and each got an extra large size for our pho. He got #13 and I got the spicy beef one which I think is #23 I did wish I had different noodles in mine but am guessing a quick sub for rice noodles would be more than ok for them. My boyfriends had about 6 times more noodles and they were a different kind but his was filled with all sorts of tasty bits we all love to eat but not think about what it is we are eating like tripe and tendon etc. mine was filled with three different kinds of meat and they were generous sized pieces and enough that at the end of us stuffing our faces we still each had enough that it wasn't just mostly broth we were saving. We ended the meal with a strawberry bubble tea, they were out of the pearls but we love the jellies so didn't mind at all. It was a little less thick than the one I've gotten from a stall at the Hmong market so I don't have a large spectrum for how they should be, but it was super tasty and we finished it off. We ate so much we were incapacitated the rest of the day! We would definitely try this place again, and are happy we found a good place close to home. read more

Just like many other people from Apple Valley, I was just as excited about a pho place opening up because no one wants to drive 30+ minutes to every time you have a craving, right? My dad and I came here this (Friday) morning for lunch. The service was unfortunately slow. Our waitress was nice and attentive but our food took ages to come out. However, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as they had just opened 30 minutes before we got there. Veggies came out first as usual with Vietnamese restaurants but sadly they weren't very fresh. The jalapeños were actually spicy though, which I appreciated! My dad ordered the Pho Tai Gan (pho with beef and tendons) and I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien (pho with beef and meatballs). The pho broth was tasty but wasn't as clear as I had hoped it would be and tasted more like the broth you get with wonton soup. Nothing sriracha and hoisin sauce can't fix though. The meatballs and beef were tender but also lacking :( Overall, I wasn't hugely disappointed by my experience. One negative is that prices are higher than other Vietnamese restaurants and portion sizes are smaller. However, my dad said he liked his pho which was surprising because he's pretty hard to please, so that's saying something. If I need a pho-fix and don't want to travel far, I'll come back here.
