Such a cute place right on Mission (across from the Gold line station) in south pasadena. Free WiFi and best boba in this part of town. It gets really crowded in the late evenings with students studying and taking over all the tables but I've yet to have an issue at other times during the day or early evening. What I love most about the place is the friendly customer service. The sweet woman behind the counter always assist us with a friendly and helpful attitude and reminds most of the customers about yelp check in and the free add on. The other day we ordered 2 boba milk teas and after 10 min or so, one of them got spilled on the floor. She was so sweet, she replaced it without a charge...excellent customer service!! Let me preface this by saying I drink at least 2 bobas per week. I know good boba. The name Simplee pays homage to the light, natural ingredients they put in their drinks and their simple menu with just the classics. If I could, this would be a 3.5 star review instead of 3. Got the classic milk tea and matcha macchiato with boba. Both drinks are definitely healthier than your average boba. I did not have to adjust the sweetness level and wouldn't recommend you do because they're both pretty light by default. They use organic agave for their sweetener! Classic milk tea: 2/5 It tasted diluted and watery, and the tea flavor was barely there. Pretty disappointed because the classic milk tea is usually the ultimate test for the quality of a boba shop. I usually like my boba with 25% sweetness at the average boba place, but here I would actually suggest adding more sweetness to their default level. With so many other excellent places for the classic milk tea, I wouldn't get this again at Simplee. Matcha macchiato: 4/5 This was way better than the classic. It was just sweet enough and still tasted refreshing and delicious. I can tell that they use high quality matcha in the drink. If I return, I would order this again. Boba: 4/5 Tasted sweeter than the actual drink which definitely enhanced the drink flavor itself. The boba was just the right amount of chewiness too. Not the best boba I've ever had or anything. It sucks. Shitty boba. It's roomy. I haven't had boba in over a year cuz keto. But I ate at Radhika next door and decided I'll have boba cuz my friend wanted some. I got unsweetened decaf with boba. This tasted bad. Like nonfat milk with some indescribable murk that cannot be tea. And I don't like the cashier checking what tip % I'm going to put down. Zero cuz there's no service but she stretched her neck all the way out (so rude)) I hit the lowest which is still 15%. Can you refund me 15% back off $11.50 please? I did not mean to tip. I very much liked the Matcha Milk Tea with Boba; I could taste the matcha, which was a pleasant surprise. Probably one of the best I have had in California. The Boba Waffle was OK. It looked amazing, but it was a logistical undertaking to eat it. I ended up laying it flat on the table, with ice cream and other toppings atop the waffle, so that I could eat without the toppings falling all over the place. Super soft boba! With a check in you get a free glass bottle which is very cool! First time in and they were very sweet employees. I went safe and ordered the signature milk tea! So yummy! The boba was made to perfeeeection!! Perfectly chewy, perfectly sweet. And my slush didn't taste like artificial flavoring like a lot of other places do. My husband got the spicy watermelon which was fresh watermelon blended with ice, and tajin mixed all throughout and he said it was the best boba/slush he's ever had in his life!! Quick service and a large room of arrays of seating. You'll find many young groups here and few studying along the wall looking for outlets. Their fruit tea (decaf) was sweet and delicious. The only place open for coffee within a 5 mile radius on New Years Day, but they should have probably just stayed closed for the day. We ordered a latte with almond milk and a bowl of noodles. I'm sure if you're searching for average boba, this place fulfills your needs. However, the coffee had the strongest taste of cherry syrup. The server didn't understand my question about drink flavoring, but it did seem to taste like 50% of the drink was writhing in a familiar cough medicine aftertaste. We loved having our baby shower here. It was such a blast. It was a little packed 30 people but we made it work. Also, who doesn't love unlimited boba!! The boba was good. And the staff made it so easy to set everything up! I did think that their milk tea was a little to bitter and a little too sweet. But their other drinks were really good. Maybe they're better known for their smoothies. Their signature black tea milk tea tasted very artificial and overly-sweetened. I ordered a second drink to try to improve it but it still tasted strange. I asked what was in it, and they said there was powder in it which is strange because the owner said in a response to another review that they stopped using powder. Must be a misunderstanding. I appreciate the experimentation with agave sweetener. I'd recommend monk fruit as another alternative, but every boba place should have at least one drink that is just fresh tea, sugar and cream with no powders at all. read more

This place is pretty awful. Not the tea, i wouldn't know since they have such awful service. I ordered via postmates and got a message that my order was ready. I called the store itself to double check, they said come in its ready. Let Me state that they are NOT following any covid saftey measures they had 5 employees in a space that is maybe 4 x 8 feet work shoulder to shoulder. Also they allow maybe 4 or five kids in their adjunct space hanging without mask (to be fair they were drinking) but I dont think indoor dinning is allowed. I went to the counter and asked for my order they told me to go outside and wait before u could order in a very rude voice. It was very confusing, why did I pre order just so I can wait in the order line to not order my drinks? The worst part is that they showed my order as completed and picked up before I picked it up. I didn't want to wait for food and drinks prepped in such in safe conditions so I left. I called to see if I could cancel and get a refund they told me to go to postmates because they already set the order as picked up and fulfilled. So basically theft. They messed up my order pretty bad and also the seal on my drink was broken so it spilled everywhere when I tried to mix it, but I went back to get the drink remade and they were very nice and quick about trying to fix the issue however, they use a powder flavoring mixed with their sugar so when you ask for 25% or 50% sugar- you don't get any flavor.... sugar level should not be related to your drinks flavor. I love the mascot of the chubby bee, it's so cute! The drinks themselves are average to good. We got the black milk tea and ice cream tea (vanilla with green tea), both with boba. The boba was good! The ice cream tea was sweet which is expected so if you're really into sweet stuff then it's worth a try. The black milk tea was sweet too so if you don't like/not used to it being sweet, I would recommend to ask for less sugar. The tea leaves were pretty strong too. We didn't try the egg waffles but hope to go back to try it! The decor of the place is really nice! The window seats are cute but just a bit tight. Also a nice place to study. We saw a lot of people with their laptops and books. Parking-wise, we got lucky with street parking since this was a weekday night. Near the Mission stop on the Gold Line if you don't want to drive. Edit: came back for a second visit and got the green milk tea with boba and mochi waffle a la carte. The green milk tea is very okay but the boba is good! The Oreo frappe was delicious but could have used a little bit more coffee flavor to it. My matcha strawberry was good, but I'd like more strawberries in mine (personal opinion) and the Mochi waffle was ehhhh...I had thought when they said Mochi waffles the whole thing would be Mochi, but it's more like waffle batter and they stuffed it with Mochi inside. I've had better Mochi waffles. Overall, it's a good place to come and study or just chill with a small group of peeps. I debated whether to post this since this is a small local business in south Pasadena but decided to since it could've really gotten my toddlers sick. Ive gotten good drinks here in the past solid 3.5 to 4 stars but today was very different. Was here getting a drink treat for the toddlers so ordered a taro milk tea. Never did it cross my mind that I should taste it first for freshness because why should you need to from a place drinks were fine before, right? Nope. The older one said mommy it hurts my tongue when I drink it. I didn't know what it meant but knew that something was off so I taste a mouthful and it was sour. The older Asian lady who I assume is the owner served us a drink that had turned. I mean they do enough business that drinks don't sit in the fridge for long but the fact that she ended up serving up a drink that went bad means they left it out for too long or didn't put a date on the container (both of which is a red flag) or something worse: hoping that the questionable drink was passable to those that might not know what it should taste like because they didn't want to waste whatever was left over in the container. I went back in and another young lady re made the drink with no fuss after she had me compare through taste testing from what seemed like a full container so I'm assuming it was a recent batch. I was a bit hesitant in tasting anything else but had to be done I suppose. She didn't seem too alarmed by what had just occurred and didn't seem to be in any hurry to report it to hire up so I went to the older Asian lady myself and let her know what happened. Shockingly she didn't seem all that bothered by it like it happens kind of attitude. Just said sorry. If this was my shop I would be very apologetic and try to make it up by offering up something else and be extremely concerned that it might give the two little toddlers who drank gulp-fuls of the turned drink not knowing any better a stomach ache later on. I had to point out to her that this shouldn't happen and that we better hope the kids don't get sick tonight. She just gave me a look like okay but no other indication or reaction that showed concern or alarm which makes me think that she might've had known that she was serving a questionable drink to save a buck or cent hoping to get it past us thinking we might not know what it should taste like. Something also felt off about her reaction and after thinking about it I realized that she wasn't rushing to the kitchen to try to locate the container she served me out of. She seemed more bothered to be interrupted while putting some things away in the closet. If what just happened truly was a surprise one would think you would rush to the kitchen to make sure to locate the container of drink that went bad so the same mistake does not happen and you can find out what went wrong to correct the mistake. None of this happened which makes me think further that it wasn't truly a honest mistake. Lesson here: if the drink is premixed in the fridge, taste a little first for freshness at this store so you don't end up with a sour. And do warn those you bring the drinks from here. Not because of the mistake but because of lack of concern by who seems to be the owner over a major oversight, I might be sticking with the boba across the street from now on where I know at the very least I won't be served anything that has gone bad. :/ read more

I recently placed a large to-go order for 20 drinks for a small event that I was hosting. The entire Simplee Boba staff was kind, patient, and helpful with the entire ordering process. When I arrived to pick up the drinks (Peach Mango Passion Jasmine Iced Tea and their classic Black Milk Tea) the order was ready on time and carefully packaged. The people attending my event were incredibly happy with their drinks and I found that the tea was fairly balanced in terms of sweetness (I tend to like my drinks at 50% sweetness or less). I would definitely consider ordering from Simplee Boba again. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because when I initially attempted to order they wanted me to send my credit card information via email, but when I replied back saying I would pay in person they were more than accommodating. read more

I ordered the honeydew milk tea and requested for almond milk as a substitute to their non dairy creamer. I was told it would take longer, and it seemed that the workers really didn't want to do it because they were close to closing time and when I did get my drink, the worker didn't properly close the lid causing the drink to spill out and she didn't bring me a straw. I really wasn't impressed with the flavor of the boba, it seemed very average and there wasn't anything great about it especially since there are a lot of other boba places in the SGV.
