Following up on Sol Up, absolutely the best solar contractor in Reno. We've been having bird…read more(pigeon) issues with our four-year old Sol Up system, where the birds have been using the PV cells for protection. Spoke with their office folks, who sent out a representative to assess the condition, and prepare a strategy to make the system bird proof. System's new guards installed, so that there is no access to the under panel space. Those birds will have to look for another Reno roof for protection. Thank you Sol Up.

I wish I could give 10 stars. There is a good reason their reviews are high…read more Yes, it is a long review, yet there is a lot to mention about Sol-Up. First to say, I know a lot about this stuff. I've been an electronics and software engineering consultant for over 40 years, designing all sorts of electronics such as medical, scientific, high energy, and even solar inverters for many corporate clients. The wife says I over-analyze everything, but I want to make sure there are no regrets when making a big electrical change on the home. Sol-Up did not ask for this review. I contacted 5 companies in the area to ask questions about installing a Tesla PowerWall (whole home backup power). The previous owner had already installed solar panels years ago (a company now out of business). The one place that impressed me most was Sol-Up as the pricing was good and they were smart. More importantly, the initial contact "Matt" knew what he was talking about and had instant answers to many detailed technical questions. Matt smoothly passed me to the project Coordinator (Colleen) whom was always on top of the process and informing me about the status and schedule. They first came to review the situation and gave me pricing. I ordered the PowerWall installation and paid a reasonable small deposit and signed the online agreement. At installation time, I got Fernando and Cody; two young, smart, experienced men whom were confident, careful, respectful, and considerate of the property. A Powerwall is a complicated installation to tie into existing solar production and the electrical panel. They did a fabulous job working in really cold weather. Then David "Handyman" came to patch and paint things to perfectly blend with the wall. Afterwards, Colleen had the building inspector and Roman come together within just two days to make sure everything got approved. No problems and the inspector was pleased. Yea, NV Energy had to put in their 2 cents worth. He came a few days later to inspect to his satisfaction and install the meter. I asked if things were by him. His reply was... "Yes, this is a nice installation, and I wish every company would do this well". There was a small hiccup during operation where the Tesla App wasn't showing the flow of energy properly although everything worked. Joe came out immediately to do a minor reconfiguration of sensors and all was well. Days later, Matt followed up again to see if everything was ok. When there is a power failure, the lights don't even flicker and no indication the power was ever lost or came back on. Just a text message to give an update. Fabulous. Bottom line is that Sol-Up did the best job of any company I have ever had to do a big electrical task. Other companies could learn a lot from their process. When it comes time to upgrade solar panels in the future or to install an additional backup battery, there is no doubt who I would call or recommend. Thanks Sol-Up team.

I'm not surprised by all the poor reviews for Blue Raven Solar. Below is my experience…read more My experience with Blue Raven Solar has been disappointing from start to finish. They dropped the ball in every respect. We had an appointment scheduled for January 2nd to go over the scope of work and next steps. Not only did they fail to show up, but they didn't even bother to call or follow up. Completely unprofessional. What made matters worse is that months later, they contacted me as if I were a brand-new lead--asking if I wanted to buy or lease solar for my home. Clearly, they didn't even check their own records to see that I was already a client. That level of disorganization is unacceptable. I also reached out multiple times to Tanner, the representative who initially set everything up, via both email and text. I received absolutely no response. Total silence. If you're considering solar for your home, I strongly recommend staying away from Blue Raven Solar. Based on my experience, their customer service is extremely poor and unreliable. I've since decided to move forward with Tesla, Inc. solar panels, and so far, they've been far more responsive, organized, and professional. Do yourself a favor--look elsewhere.

Coleen and I were so excited to have solar panels installed into our home. It took three months to…read moreplan and get the permits cleared before the project could begin. By the third week of April the job began and the first inspection cleared. Our garage had cuts that needed to be patched, and it took months for them to get someone to fix it. One of the battery covers had a big dent in it, and that too was a headache to deal with. We thought energization of the solar system would be a non-issue, but it took an extra six weeks from their timeline for our system to fully work. NVEnergy evidently found an error in Blue Raven Solar drawing and they needed to make amends before legally and safely moving forward the solar system could power. Altogether it took more time to put and energize this solar system than to order it. If you're willing to give eight months of your time making sure someone is home in the process of this project, then anticipate a semi sloppy job. We wholeheartedly can not recommend this business.

You can tell by the conduit bends that they really take pride in their work, making the install look appeasing and your home. Sean also did some small projects around my home too, including the installation of some exterior Ring cameras that were on the second floor, and I hate climbing heights. I all, I had a pleasant experience with this company and I'm already looking forward to another job I have after Christmas. Thanks, Sean.

We were without consistent power other than a portable generator for over 30 days when our batteries, inverter and generator failed. That's when we learned of Shawn and his team. Aspen successfully converted our solar system in the middle of a horrid January, 2023 to a Fortress lithium battery system. Later that year, they installed a new Solark inverter system. On 3/6/25, we lost all power with an alarm on the Solark inverter. i contacted Shawn who put me in touch with his incredible employee, Vince who called within an hour to help troubleshoot the system. He asked me questions to understand the situation and said he would be out to assess and hopefully repair, 3/7/25. Vince arrived and within minutes diagnosed the issue and made the necessary repairs. He even allowed me to video a tutorial on what to do if we are ever faced with a failure again. Before I retired I was in the customer service business for over 40 years and have to say I have never met a vendor and team who cares about their customers in the way that Aspen Electric! Living completely off grid has its challenges, but I rest easier knowing I can count on Shawn, Vince and the other members of the Aspen Electric team! Maree Elana

I was told that it would be a teardown and rebuild of the 2 solar panels. In fact, when the 2 guys got here it only took them about 20 minutes to disconnect the 2 end panels and put them on the ground. After the roof was repaired, they came back and put them back in place and reconnected them. This took another 20 min. The right thing for Great Basin Solar to have done would be to adjust the cost do to the limited amount of time the job really took to complete. I will say that the 2 guys who did the work were great and easy to work with. The cost of this simple job cost me about 5% of the total amount I paid for the whole solar system. I would not recommend Great Basin Solar.
