We've been having bird (pigeon) issues with our four-year old Sol Up system, where the birds have been using the PV cells for protection. Spoke with their office folks, who sent out a representative to assess the condition, and prepare a strategy to make the system bird proof. I wish I could give 10 stars. There is a good reason their reviews are high. Yes, it is a long review, yet there is a lot to mention about Sol-Up. First to say, I know a lot about this stuff. I've been an electronics and software engineering consultant for over 40 years, designing all sorts of electronics such as medical, scientific, high energy, and even solar inverters for many corporate clients. The wife says I over-analyze everything, but I want to make sure there are no regrets when making a big electrical change on the home. Sol-Up did not ask for this review. I contacted 5 companies in the area to ask questions about installing a Tesla PowerWall (whole home backup power). The previous owner had already installed solar panels years ago (a company now out of business). The one place that impressed me most was Sol-Up as the pricing was good and they were smart. More importantly, the initial contact "Matt" knew what he was talking about and had instant answers to many detailed technical questions. Matt smoothly passed me to the project Coordinator (Colleen) whom was always on top of the process and informing me about the status and schedule. They first came to review the situation and gave me pricing. I ordered the PowerWall installation and paid a reasonable small deposit and signed the online agreement. At installation time, I got Fernando and Cody; two young, smart, experienced men whom were confident, careful, respectful, and considerate of the property. A Powerwall is a complicated installation to tie into existing solar production and the electrical panel. They did a fabulous job working in really cold weather. Then David "Handyman" came to patch and paint things to perfectly blend with the wall. Afterwards, Colleen had the building inspector and Roman come together within just two days to make sure everything got approved. No problems and the inspector was pleased. Yea, NV Energy had to put in their 2 cents worth. He came a few days later to inspect to his satisfaction and install the meter. I asked if things were by him. His reply was... "Yes, this is a nice installation, and I wish every company would do this well". There was a small hiccup during operation where the Tesla App wasn't showing the flow of energy properly although everything worked. Joe came out immediately to do a minor reconfiguration of sensors and all was well. Days later, Matt followed up again to see if everything was ok. When there is a power failure, the lights don't even flicker and no indication the power was ever lost or came back on. Just a text message to give an update. Fabulous. Bottom line is that Sol-Up did the best job of any company I have ever had to do a big electrical task. Other companies could learn a lot from their process. When it comes time to upgrade solar panels in the future or to install an additional backup battery, there is no doubt who I would call or recommend. Thanks Sol-Up team. read more

I recently had the full system installed in the sparks area. The sales person (Nathaniel) was just above and beyond expectations in knowledge and patience in answering my questions and believe me I had too many. As far as the installation crew goes, I wouldn't say it was a disaster but it took it from a five star to a good two star due to the following factors: 1-clean up was horrible as I had to do it after they left. 2- wall patching was amateur quality as if my 4 year old did it. 3- conduit coming out of wall crooked and not aligned. 4- their work van can was leaking oil and left a stain on my driveway. 5- lack of knowledge for the process by the technicians... Based on the above facts and circumstances, I am worried about the panels installed on my roof as I have no means of inspecting the work done. Honestly It would have been a five star purchase if they just made an effort into doing quality work. My solar has finally been activated after the utility installed the new bidirectional meters yesterday. Throughout my whole solar journey with Sol-Up, I have had nothing but praise for the company, my project manager, and the crew I worked with. This company is exceptional! I'd like to commend every Sol-Up staff I worked with as every one of them was great and made this experience awesome. My energy consultant, Justin Niles, was great. He answered every question I had from when I first met him, to signing the contract, during project installation, to solar activation. He is very responsive, always follows up with me during the project to ensure it is going smoothly, and has been great overall! My project manager, Thomas Denoso, managed the overall project very well, correct any issues that were found, very responsive to every part of the project and any issues or questions I had for him via email, text, or call. He also made sure any mistakes that happened were corrected right away or I was compensated for it. Sol-Up Solar Installer Lead, Austin Arreola, was great and did the job in less than 6 hours. He and his crew installed all 22 solar panels and microinverters as well as run the wires down to the Enphase Combiner box and installed it in the garage. Sol-Up Electrician, Elison Crew, was very knowledgeable and very friendly! He and his crew installed the Tesla backup gateway, Tesla Powerwalls, the span panel, and all the wirings within 3 days, and moved all my home circuits from the original electric panel to the span panel. He also set up the Span App, Enphase App, and Tesla App with me, got it all connected to my network, and have it all running the same day! Sales Process - From start to finish, seamless process. Pricing - At least in my area and compared to the other 6 companies' salespeople I met with and the quotes they provided, Sol-Up's was around the same, if not better priced. I believe it was reasonably priced. And the quote they provided did not change before and after the project. Responsiveness - This company is lightning fast on every aspect of responsiveness from issues, to questions, to follow-ups. Warranty - They provide a standard 25-year manufacturer warranty. After Sales Support - I've only used it once but they are very responsive as well and fast on scheduling the service work. Overall, my experience with Sol-Up has been awesome and stress-free. From learning about their company from my energy consultant to signing the agreement, and finishing the project while resolving all the issues that pop up throughout this journey. They've always been very responsive and on top of the project. I highly recommend them to everyone looking into getting solar at their home. Steve Carver from Sol-Up really went out of his way to help us and to make the process of getting solar panels (and figuring out the right number to buy) easy. They have a good warranty and service agreement, We got our system for no money down, and they even paid for the fee that NV Energy charges for something called "gold band removal" on the meter. One of the reasons I left the glowing review of Sol-up was because of their salesman Steve Carver. He was like a fine aged whiskey, slow and smooth. I trusted the man completely and he did not disappoint. Everything he promised, he delivered. Well today, I found out he had been laid off by Sol-up. We had a comprehensive and competitive bid from Steve at Sol Up and placed the order for install. Steve Carver and his team were delightful to work with, professional, and had excellent communication skills. The longest part of the project was getting NV Energy to sign off, which took a few weeks, and I am happy to report my last energy bill (with all the snow and poor weather) was $17 and change. Quite a change from the almost $450 monthly we were paying prior. The follow through from the entire team and seamless (and very clean) install makes it easy to recommend Steve Carver and the entire Sol-Up team for people looking toward the benefits of solar. When I was shopping around for solar Sol-Up was one of the companies I inquired with. I ultimately decided to go with a different company. The reason for the 1 star review is that even after countless times telling Sol-Up that I went with a different company I am still receiving calls/texts/emails from them trying to sell me solar. We had a terrific experience with Sol-Up Solar Panel company. Steve Carver was our representative. He is really great. He brought us printed material that helped make it very clear how it all works with installing Solar. He supported us perfectly prior to installation as well as during and after installation. We got 20 German made Meyer Burger solar panels. The installation team completed the install job in one and a half days. The Building Inspector from Sparks looked at the install within 3 days and it was approved with no exceptions. Within 10 days NV Energy came out and did their inspection. It also passed with flying colors. NV Energy turned my system on right then and there and it's been working beautifully since. I took appointments from two other Solar Companies.
