Got connected with this dealer through Generac. They came out to service my generator, which was working fine at the time. After their service visit, it would no longer start up and threw an error code. Capital Control Systems charged me for another service visit to come back and correct the loose wiring harness that was causing the error. Our heater needed to be replaced shortly after moving into our new home. We had a hard time finding anybody that could replace it within a reasonable amount of time. Capital control systems I was able to get us a replacement heater installed within a week at a very steep price. They will not work with home warranty providers so we were unable to get compensation for the replacement. Unfortunately we had to make a choice in eating the cost or freezing for about a month before a new replacement could come in. Fast forward a few months later... we are having issues with the heater turning off at random. I have requested for someone to come out and service it but they are short staffed and can't get somebody out to diagnose for a week and a half. If you need an emergency heater, these might be your people, but you will pay an extra fee upfront and a few more times in the long run. read more

Our home warranty company (American Homeshield) selected this company to fix our furnace in South Lake Tahoe. They made several trips out to our home to attempt to fix it and every time we got a different story... the thermostat was too far away, the vent had too many 90-degree turns, the unit wasn't installed properly, etc. Then they tried to sell me on a brand new system but when I asked them to submit the bid to the home warranty company, the owner flat-out refused. I finally had another company come out to look at the system and they told me that everything I had been told by Capital Control was completely incorrect. I wasted all winter not having working heat because this company kept giving me the runaround. Their techs were very friendly but just clearly not knowledgeable in how to fix the system properly and then gave up leaving us without working heat. read more

We ordered the generator in March of 2020 - 6 month ago - and they offered services of this provider. Nothing happened so far. Continuous excuses (City, Electrical company), absolutely no follow up. Purchased our system through a Costco flyer. Fair pricing for unit we selected. Excellent installatio. Company performed testing to keep unit lubricated every other week for a few minutes. Notification is given is the test has any issues. They are right on for yearly maintenance checks for the unit to replace anything, if applicable, that would need to be replace. Ex. Really disappointed with the AC installation done for our bedroom. Told them which wall we wanted the unit installed, assuming they would center it. Wasn't home during the install but came home from work to find they positioned the unit up against the wall in the corner of the room. I asked if they could move it over a foot or so to make it a bit more center and was told that to move it would cost the price of buying another AC unit. Considering the quality of the work and their refusal to fix the problem, and that one unit cost over $6,000, I highly recommend choosing a different company. read more

Last summer, when it was 100 degrees outside and smoke filled Reno valley, our fan motor quit working. With American Home Shield, it was going to be 2 weeks before they could have someone put in a motor. My wife has COPD so it was NOT a good situation. She called some places but no one could help her. She called Capital Controls and they said they could do it tomorrow, which they did. They brought us a brand new unit that easily had accessible spare motors, etc. They also put a new condenser in the next year because mine was rotting away (due to male dog issues)! They've treated us extremely well and now they're putting in a Generac Generator for us. No thanks to NV Energies power outages. My wife can live with her oxygenator now, knowing she has continuous power in spite of our power service provider. Avoid these folks, if at all possible. We retired to Reno and purchased a nice home that required service for the HVAC system. Turns out that the prior owner, Michael- a good guy, purchased an extended warranty. Unfortunately, it was with Capital Controls. I spoke with Toni and, at first, she tried to imply that the warranty had expired (it hadn't) and that she would call me back (she didn't). I called again and Toni suggested that service fees were likely, as the system had been neglected and that the warranty wouldn't cover this, but she would call me back (she didn't). Finally, I called again a few days later and she noted that they were still trying to determine if the parts were available (they were, the HVAC inspector located them for us), and misidentified the system (twice) as being Carrier (it was Bryant). She indicated, again, that she would call us back (again, she hasn't). Toni made it very obvious that even if they did honor the warranty, that the firm would find a way to charge us. Given the other responses on Yelp, it's questionable if they are even competent in providing the service needed. So I paid, instead, for an honorable company to effect the repairs. I really dislike it when a business leaves us no choice but to leave a negative review. First because I have to write this distasteful review instead of the glowing reviews I prefer and second because this company put us through such a distasteful experience. This business had less than adequate communication skills and professionalism with us. The first issue was the Permit they obtained was not in our names as we are the current owners but this company inexplicably obtained a Permit in the names of some previous owners. This company never corrected that serious and significant error they made. Another issue was that it just continued to get worse from there with this company. Their workers were inadequate, amateurish, crude, rude, forgot what they were to do (we said upfront that they should take pictures first so they would know how to put it all back together again but they smugly disagreed -- to everyone's later detriment), were all quite the drama queens, and left trash at our home and in the street which we saw them toss out their truck window into the street. Don't waste your time. 1st tech came out to confirm that my 155,000 btu gas heater had a cracked heat exchanger. I'm in Glenbrook and had to spend 10 minutes telling the driver how to get to my house. That was odd, as he stated his phone battery died. ? After that due to the tight spaces another tech came out and I knew already as this 300lb man came into my home that they were not going to do the job. Buyer beware... Through American Home Shield, Capital Control Systems was assigned to install power heads in our home. After 3.5 hours tinkering around with wires, the boiler, and radiant system, the technician admitted he did not have knowledge of this radiant heating system. The technician and his supervisor conjured up a proposal for a bid, which incorrectly diagnosed our system, number of zones in the house, sensors, modules, and thermostats. They wanted $7,400.00, excluding existing manifolds, permits, and "electrical". Not only was this diagnosis inaccurate and not applicable to our system, all that was needed was a few hundred dollars to install power heads that would control the house's radiant heating. Before you decide to give Capital Control Systems your business, contact reputable HVAC companies for an independent diagnosis and estimate. read more

Living in Lake Tahoe in the winter requires a working heating system. Last night our heating went out and I called American Home Shield. They arranged for Capital Control Systems to be at our home first thing in the morning. The technician, Darth, was promptly at at our home by 8:30am. I am going to sign up for a maintenance program because I was so impressed with Darth's knowledge about our complicated heating system. In addition to solving the problem, he explained our system to me so that I would understand how he fixed it. Whether you have insurance or simply have to pay for service yourself, don't hesitate to call Capital Control Systems and ask if they can send Darth out on the call. Took two days to complete a repair. First was a motor at $384, then a control board for $680 (it lists for $160), then a couple of switches at over $60 each. They even tacked on an additional $39 for the technician to go back to the shop to pick up a part that he didn't have on his truck. Won't use these guys again. read more

If it was possible to give a half star I would do that. I had a furnace problem a year ago in February. I called to have a service tech come out and evaluate the issue. It was determined that the igniter needed to be replaced. While he was troubleshooting the furnace, which was only a couple years old at the time, I asked to make sure everything else was in order and do what ever maintenance needed to be done while he was here. The filter was not in need of replacing and everything else looked good. Again this furnace was not that old and he was already cleaning things up in the compartment for me. The tech told me that if I signed up for the Silver Membership that I would have the following benefits, Priority service over non members. No Overtime Rates for Gold and Platinum Members, "I'm on the Silver plan so I don't see the relevance." 10% Discount on HVAC and Electrical Repair Service Free Inspection/Maintenance included with Membership. Prolong Equipment Life. Peace of Mind. Quality Service you can trust. So I signed up for the Silver Membership. I received a letter for renewal of $150.00 so I called to ask why since I signed up last year that no one contacted me to do a Free Inspection/Maintenance and I was told because when I had the tech out last year to fix my Igniter and signed up for the membership that he did the maintenance then. So was it worth it? "NO" All they do from what I was just told on a maintenance is vacuum around inside the furnace (which he already did) and replace the $15.00 filter (that did not need to be replaced) then they also turn the furnace on to see if it works. All that for $150.00. Plus the other colorful BS that's listed above. In my opinion the service plan is not worth the money. The service rep also said it would have cost $125.00 for maintenance over that first visit. I feel ripped off. They started off good with me but failed miserably after this recent conversation. Why would I have signed up for labor that was already being performed and it cost $25.00 more. Usually peace of mind and quality service you can trust are priceless but with this company they are just empty words. read more

The customer service stopped with the receptionist, who was excellent! Took 6 weeks for an install. They installed wrong, according to building plans 3 times. Then when all was said and done, the installation was still wrong! The basement will now need a full drop ceiling unless we rework the ducting. I wish I would have had a different company. read more

The tech I dealt with did a poor job, misdiagnosed the problem with my generator and cracked the oil filter so that oil leaked and when power went out I had no generator. Owner acted arrogant and offered to replace the broken filter, but I declined because I didn't want the same bad tech working on my unit. After spending $950.00 with their company I would have thought they could be a little more reasonable in coming up with alternate solutions. Update... Nobody has called me back to apologize to my wife and I after the problems we had. Even though nobody called me back I want to say that their installers did a phenominal job. Heater and air conditioner works great. If somebody calls me back and apologizes I will remove 1 star review based on how they apologize and what is said to me. This company has excellent installers who know their job very well. I talked with my wife about how they ordered wrong furnace at first and how their salesman Mike tried to get me to have them install the wrong furnace, which pissed me off when he did that. I will remove review one star rating if someone apologizes like I said. I have to give their installers an excellent review though. Some of the people there need customer service skills. I have enough problems as a Disabled Veteran. I didn't need all the problems they caused my wife and I. I am willing to let this bad experience turn into a good experience with an apology from them I think thats fair. If they don't apologize to my wife and I then I will not remove this review and it will show they don't care about how they treated my wife and I. The AC at our rental property in Carson City died during the hottest week in August. Every repair place I called had a 4-day or longer wait to get a repair person there. I contacted Capital Controls first thing on Monday morning, they had the repair guy there the following day. He found the AC unit to be frozen over so shut it down and made an appointment to meet with my renter in 2 days to assess the problems. A little low on refrigerant and filters jam-packed with fur, started the system back up and the AC's back on! After hearing a friend of mine in Reno had to have an entire new AC unit installed the week before, for $5k, you cannot imagine how happy I am right now! The refrigerant was $99, the two trips $104. These people communicate what's going on, which these days is HUGE, called me at work to tell me why they needed the 2nd visit, etc. Truly appreciate the professionalism and speedy repairs! read more

Since moving into my condo, I have had nothing but continual issues with my furnace not working. Service calls were completed by another unrelated company six times in two years. After getting fed up with them, I decided it was time to allow someone else to take a look at my furnace and hopefully get some straight answers as to why it didn't work more than half the time. When I phoned them they were polite and Darth came out within 24 hours to look at it. Unlike the other unamed company, he took his time trouble shooting what exactly was going on and made sure that he was right. After spending all this money with another company and finding out that the part to fix the current furnace, I decided to just go ahead and replace it. Two days later it was installed and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I have recommended them to others and will use them without hesitation in the future. This company and the entire team rocks! I had a furnace on the fritz .. had a home warranty service agreement. The home warranty company contracted with Capital Control Systems to fix furnace. The tech who came out was incredibly respectful and polite - explained exactly what parts were broken. He explained that the furnace was so old, one of the needed parts was in fact obsolete and could not be replaced. CCA then took it upon themselves to work with the home warranty company and advocated for me. It was about 10 degrees, so a furnace was critical. When the warranty company wanted to ship me a furnace to arrive in 7-10 days Toni took over. She explained to them the situation, advocated for me and convinced them to get me a furnace through them overnight! I had been without heat for over 1.5 weeks and with the winter storms was really cold. Toni followed up with me several times a day, drove the home warranty service to do the right thing and today, for the first time in almost 2 weeks I have heat!!!! The installation team was also amazing. Thorough, happy, respectful, cleaned up after themselves, crossed all the "T's" and dotted all the "I's" - made sure the furnace was working and that I had everything needed. I cannot recommend this team and this company enough. From Luz (service department manager) to Toni (customer service manager) to Brian (tech) and Stuart, Aaron and Sean (installation team) these guys are a class act. If you are anywhere in the Reno, NV / Lake Tahoe area - it's a no brainer to call these guys. I know I will call the again should I have any heating and/or water heater issues.
