I previously had a good experience with Hoffman Plumbing, so when I noticed a small leak from the…read moretemperature and pressure relief valve on my water heater, I called them out again. This time, something had clearly changed. They charged me $99 just to provide a quote and then tried to turn a simple, clearly diagnosed repair into a massive upsell, with multiple wildly inflated proposals that had little to do with the problem I called about. Before they arrived, I had already done my own troubleshooting and correctly determined that I needed a new T&P valve, a new expansion tank, and a whole‑house pressure‑reducing valve. It was a straightforward, targeted repair. Instead of focusing on that, Hoffman gave me five quotes: Replace all plumbing (supply and drain) plus the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $35,611.00 Replace all supply plumbing plus the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $23,874.00 Replace all supply plumbing but not the water heater: $20,365.00 Replace just the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $4,800.00 Finally, the work I actually called about (and I had to ask specifically for this quote because it was not given)--replacing the pressure regulator, T&P valve, and expansion tank--dismissively labeled the "bandaid option": $2,180.00 That last number was for the exact repair I had already identified myself. I later bought the parts and did that "bandaid option" on my own for about $150 in materials. Seeing a roughly fifteen‑times markup on such a basic, well‑defined repair, after being talked down to, made it crystal clear they were pushing high‑dollar, out‑of‑scope work rather than providing fair, proportional service. The attitude matched the pricing. Instead of respecting that I understood my system and wanted a targeted fix, the plumber treated me as if I were clueless. The underlying message was obvious: don't just repair what's wrong--let us replace as much as possible for tens of thousands of dollars. About a week later, I received a voicemail from Hoffman asking when I wanted to schedule the work. I called back and explained why I would not be moving forward: the extreme quotes, the mismatch between what I requested and what was pushed, and the fact that I had already completed the repair myself. The person on the phone showed no empathy, offered no apology, and simply said she would close out the call. A couple of days after that, I got a text from the same person, clearly forgetting that we had already spoken: "We'd love to earn your business. What's holding you back from moving forward? If it's the price, we offer financing and may have discounts available. Text me back or call anytime. I'm here to help!" After being quoted up to $35,611.00 for work I never asked for and $2,180.00 for a repair I did myself for about $150, receiving a chipper financing pitch was beyond frustrating--it was insulting. It told me they either weren't listening at all or didn't care enough to track a very clear, negative response. In short, my one‑star review is based on: Extremely inflated quotes: $35,611.00, $23,874.00, $20,365.00, $4,800.00, and $2,180.00 for a $150 repair. A condescending attitude toward the appropriate, targeted repair ("bandaid option"). Tone‑deaf, sales‑driven follow‑up that ignored my explicit decision not to proceed. I did not hire Hoffman Plumbing for this job and have no intention of doing so in the future. If you value honest pricing, appropriate recommendations, and being treated like an informed adult instead of a walking checkbook, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

Red Bear responded quickly again, and a technician named Steven diagnosed the new issue as a blown fuse caused by exposed wiring that had likely come into contact with itself. He explained that the damaged wiring was most likely the result of a rodent chewing away the insulation. Both technicians were extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything they found and the repairs they performed. Their professionalism and prompt response are appreciated. The company sent out a young but very knowledgeable and adept plumber out the next day, who made quick work of removing the old tank, helping me rebuild the platform that was now ruined, and installed a new tank with new piping. I was very impressed with the speed and expertise of the job! While maybe not the cheapest company I received a quote from, it was certainly not as expensive as many of the lower-rated companies, and had the quickest turnaround to my family's hot water back on. Today (six months after the new install), the release valve popped on the water heater and we lost hot water. I shut it down and turned off the water and gas, and immediately called for help. It was 4pm (and I live in Fernley). I had taken a photo, as well, and texted it to them showing exactly what to expect. By 5:15pm, there was a plumber at my door (they made record time all the way from Reno in heavy traffic on I-80!) and they repaired the faulty valve and also repaired an exhaust pipe (from original home construction) that had started bending. All under warranty from the work they had done previously for me. Again, I was very impressed, and I am 100% completely satisfied by having chosen such a reputable plumbing company!

Of the 3 dryer vent cleaning companies I called, not only did BBV *answer*, then call me back asap, but even was able to squeeze in a service in between calls! Imagine a new rental with so much hair in the vents it was very nearly a fire hazard, and 1 company didn't respond/answer at all and another was over 2 weeks out - ma'am, the place would be ashes by then! If you need vents wept clean don't want to get blown off, call Battleborn Vents! Professional, prompt and at a very reasonable rate for an urgent service call they went out of their way to accommodate - that's service worth a shout out! Look at my photos! Jorge checked the vent from outside the house, explaining what he was seeing as he cleared out whatever he could find. Since that didn't fix the dryer issue, the dryer company sent out a (pretty lazy) service person, who took a brief look and said it was still the vent. Jorge offered to come back and take another look, even going down in the crawl space to disassemble and reassemble the dryer vent to see what else he could find. Nothing. It's actually the dryer that has a wonky sensor--thanks to Jorge's genial hard work, we now know this definitively. Thanks guys. Highly recommend this pleasant and professional service team, and will work with them again.

We feel very lucky Paul answered our call on a Saturday, we had a leak in front of the house and water was running down the street. He informed me it would be emergency fees, but I said "come anyway", which he did. He then informed me that I needed to call the city, as it was the pressure regulator, in their hole, so I did, and when the city got there they said too bad, we aren't going to do anything about it since the builder put the regulator into the city's hole, and that we needed to move the regulator inside the courtyard, and get it out of their hole. So Monday Paul came back and spent over 4 hours digging a deep hole and putting in a new regulator, which he told us would have been so much easier and quicker and cheaper, if the city had of let us just put a new regulator back in their hole, I learned later from someone who lived here back when these houses were being built that the builder did have permission from the city to put this one, and every other house in this 3rd phase in the city's holes!! So thanks to the city refusing to let us use their hole, it cost us over a thousand dollars to have it moved. We were really impressed with Paul, he was very knowledgeable and worked very hard, in difficult conditions, and would call him again in a heartbeat! read more

Unbelievably compassionate and focused. Knew exactly what to do and got it done on my antique heating system. Since the beginning of the cold season my home warranty company sent ANOTHER company 5 times. WE WOULD WAIT 3 days to hear from the other guys...Finally the last time they fumbled around they said I needed a plumber to flush the boiler. They left some valves closed -which damaged them and blew my old pump out. I called TECH PLUMBING & HEATING and Pamela was on it and caring. Josh came and diagnosed the problem and ordered parts and gave me a fair price Shayla sent another Skilled Josh and he repaired it & we had heat !!! I was about to pay the quote & Josh said "No ma'am I have to go to the office and have them take off the parts I did not use". Almost $200 was taken off. Who does that? We moved to Dayton June 2018. Our hot water heater sounded like bowling balls were inside it. After 9 months, we had enough. We tried to drain and back flush it only to find the pressure relief valve and the cold-water intake value would not shut completely. Our home warranty company sent Tech Plumbing to the rescue. It took a few days since the warranty company had internal glitches. Therefore, we were without water in our home for four days except for one hour at night. Once Tech had the order, they were able to come the same day and give us some priority due to our special circumstances. The technician they sent, Dave, was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, clean, prompt, and obviously skilled after 33 years in the business. Our new hot water heater was brought up to code since we had no pressure relief tank, no overflow pan, and no earthquake straps. We couldn't be happier with the service we received. I noticed when I woke up yesterday morning that it was freezing in my home and my heater was blowing out cold air. After my husband and I looked at it and realized we were unable to fix, I google searched heating repair places, I called 2 places that were unable to come to me today and that was a concern for me because I have 2 young children and I did not want to be without heat last night..so then called Tech Plumbing and Heating, the girl who answered the phone was very friendly and said she would be able to have to tech come to my house that day! In the early morning hours my family and I were awakened by our smoke alarms. We couldn't find a source of the smoke and it quickly dissipated. A few hours later it happened again. I realized that during the first wake up I had turned the heater down so I quickly shut it off and again the smoke quickly dissipated. My home warranty company put me in contact with these guys and I'm sure glad they did! They responded quickly and got a tech out to check our heater. He was very kind and professional. He opened the heater up and quickly found the problem to be a fried circuit board. He had a replacement in his truck and got our heater back up and running in no time. I have looked for years for a really great plumber in Carson City. Finally, through the drama of having my water heater go kaput, I have found one. The job was complicated (bad install by the prior plumber) and required ordering a part from out of state. Jack from Tech was simply amazing. I had Derik work on a tub faucet at my home. He was a pleasant young man, he tried to fix my faucet with a replacement part and when that didn't work, he showed me what the problem was and made a recommendation. just wanted to give a quick recommendation for this plumbing company that came in to fix our air condition in a quick, timely manner. They were honest and identify the problem immediately very friendly people from the phone call to the technician. The problem actually was from another company that put our furnace in and forgot to connect the low-voltage wire back to the furnace. I had a leak under my kitchen sink, which turned out to be more than a just a leak. I contacted my home warranty service who in turn contacted Tech Plumbing and the guy that showed up told me that the piping wasn't even connected to the drain and that the plumbing from the garbage disposal was at a downward angle. It's going to cost me approx $10,000 to redo the plumbing that Jackrabbit screwed up with their use of "sharkbite" fittings on a new build !! I mean seriously, those type of fittings are used if there is a repair to a water line ... not as a first line fitting in a new home !! Shame on you for doing sub-par work and using those fittings just because they cost more so the general contractor (Ben Nichols Construction) could charge a higher price and get a bigger percentage to charge on a time and materials job !! Shame on you both for such deceptive business practices !!!
