This is an update to my previous nasty review. Scheduled a rewire on my house, and the addition of a couple of new outlets. I was told I needed to vacate my house for 10 days. The Happy Outlet scheduled a Pod to be delivered to my home to put all my stuff in. They also made a hotel reservation for 10 days. These were both included in my quote. They scheduled the job for 5/18 to 5/27. The week included the Memorial Day holiday. And I was not informed that would be no work on Thursday of that week. I went home to water my plants on Friday, and saw not a lot of work had been done. I live in a 76 year old house, I knew there would be issues but I was told it could be done in 10 days. There was a lot of phone calls, texts and unhappy emails. The job was completed on Thursday 5/28. I moved back in my house on 5/27. After a very rocky start to the job and misinformation I am extremely happy with the work they have done. The guys worked very hard to get it done. My house is now up to code. The only reason for the 4 star review is for the miscommunication in the beginning. It was very stressful my cat and myself. Would I hire them again? Yes I would, in fact I need another outlet. I had a problem with the kitchen outlets. Happy outlet charged me $89 to hand me an invoice telling me it'll be an additional $400 for them to figure out what the problem was. The invoice included $3,200 of additional work. Not to fix my problem. I contacted another electrician the problem was solved and repaired in less than an hour. My advice save yourself the $89. read more

The reviews of this company on Google are misleading. They scheduled an appointment for us three weeks out. We waited for our appointment and on the morning of the appointment, we got an automated text that our appointment is moved further three weeks out because the tech called in sick. I called them and the lady on the phone did not help at all. The customer service or any regards to customers is non-existent. I will not recommend this company to anyone. Update - Their website states they miss less than 1% of appointment times. Here the owner in the response is providing all the excuses that they cannot get their act together. We had an issue with a light in our Kitchen. Brett came out a couple of weeks ago and did a general check of our electrical system and reviewed the issue and discussed options. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He was prompt and courteous. Mike and Jesse came out yesterday and installed the new kitchen and dining room lights - they were prompt, courteous, and professional. They were very knowledgeable and appreciate the time they took to answer all of our questions. They were very thorough and took the time to explain everything to us prior to starting the work and keeping us informed throughout the job. They were very clean too! We LOVE our new lights and the new dimmer switch in the Kitchen. They did a great job and we look forward to using The Happy Outlet in the future for any electrical needs. We booked an appointment out about a month in advance. The day of, they cancel the appointment and rebooked it for two more weeks. We've been without the overhead light in one room that entire time. Called somewhere else and they're coming out next day. Don't recommend if you need work done. read more

Just needed a little help with a few fluorescent bulbs in my garage. Thought it might cost me around $100 total. Walked into their office on College Parkway. Saw 5 of their trucks parked in their lot and wondered if they ever have any business! I quickly found out why at 2pm none of the trucks were out on a service call. The girl behind the counter said it would cost an additional $89 to inspect the complete house wiring! I said "What"? '"It's just a few fluorescent bulbs." She said it is their policy to charge you up front an $89 service fee BEFORE they take a look at your requested electrical work! WHAT? I said goodbye and still see 4 or 5 trucks in their parking lot at 2 or 3 pm every day I drive by there. Will they come up with an excuse? Now I know why.....caveat emptor...buyer beware. Very few people today are willing to be scammed upfront. And please don't lecture me, Jesse. I am a homeowner entitled to my opinion. I guess you couldn't resist dissing me for my opinion. Not hard to see you have nothing better to do but sit there and dis anyone who is on to your "business"... I refuse your $89 approach to try and justify it. Called this company to come check few plugs in my house that had no ground connected. We waited a week to get our appointment and they did come when they said they would but then once the worker arrived, I showed him the 4 plugs that needed to have the "ground" checked. He proceeded to pull out a list of items he said he needed to do an inspection on the house. This is what the $89 is for, not to come do the work that I asked but to do an inspection. He said once he does the inspection then he will give me 3 options to do "work". The first option will be all the items needing immediate attention, then option "B" would be next and so on. I said "all I need is the ground checked" and he said "well I can't do the work till I inspect everything" If you are thinking about using this company, DON'T! I think they are a scam and prey on those that don't understand this is not how you do business. They are trying to up-sale the job so don't fall for it! read more

I needed an electrician a few weeks age, They sent out David Grinnell, a veteran electrician of "over 20 years experience" I thought I was in excellent hands UNTIL i received the estimate of over $6000.00 to do some trenching and conduit work..... My heart skipped a beat... thought I should get a second opinion... Which I did... a few hours later I had my electric fixed without the trenching and extra cost that were added on to the original bid from this experienced electrician! If he would have taken the time and bent over to evaluate the issue he would have seen the problem....BUT INSTEAD HE WANTED TO SELL ME A WARRENTY FOR THE WORK THAT HE PERPSOED TO DO! I had foolishly tried to cook with multiple appliances in my kitchen, resulting in tripping my circuit breaker and cutting off power to half of my house. I attempted to troubleshoot it myself, but to no avail. I had decided that I needed a professional in this situation. I called The Happy Outlet on a Tuesday, and they were able to set me up with an appointment on Thursday. Joe was my serviceman, and let me tell you, he is the definition of Professional Customer Service. Before he arrived, I received text messages letting me know that he was on his way. When he arrived, he was extremely friendly and knew exactly what the problem was when I described it to him. He gave me an estimate of what it would all cost beforehand, and when everything was agreed upon, he got started. Joe was able to get my house's power back up and also cleaned and labeled my old circuit breaker. Joe even took the time to show me the proper troubleshooting steps, just in case this were to happen again. His patience and professionalism were out of this world, and I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. TERRIBLE experience. The technician came to our home (partner and I live together) and blatantly MISSED the blown breaker that another company diagnosed within 3 minutes of being in the home, a week later. Meanwhile technician was very rude to my long term partner (who, again, LIVES IN the home with me!!!!) stating he couldnt give him any info bc he technically isnt the home owner. It was absurd. We were charged $89 for the visit and told he needed to come back 2 weeks later (the next appt!) which would cost $149 bc of 'level 2' work, or something of that nature. I was so annoyed that I called another company and the next day that company's electrician diagnosed the problem in less than 5 minutes. I WAS a huge fan of this company and now find it absolutely laughable and an utter RIP OFF. Yes it is worry free but you are going to PAY THROUGH THE NOSE for their ridiculous "fixed pricing" structure. A Pay By Hour Electrician is about $85 per hour. Happy Outlet is charging $203 to change a simple dimmer switch or put in a digital wall timer. Excuse me but IT DOES NOT TAKE 2.4 HOURS to change a dimmer switch. If they supply the switch which is about $20 and including a .25 of labor Happy Outlet's cost is about $25. Take a look at the $203 for changing out a simple fan speed controller $203. Yeah right. No thanks. I had received the estimate in the photo and didn't think much of it until I started calculating estimated labor hours. I have two chandeliers that I was quoted $1,110 to change. See photos, both about 42" wide and 30lbs. It's an easy swap, existing electrical and all chandelier parts on hand. I asked the Tech if he smoked some skunk doobage before he came today as I was dumbfounded by the estimated price. He then lowered it to $758. THAT IS 9 LABOR HOURS. REALLY? It takes 9 hours? I could fathom 4 as it takes two people but that is ridiculous. The only normal price they gave was to install exterior wall sconces (replace old ones/electrical already there) for $58. I called Happy Outlet to discuss the estimate and explain what ludicrous prices they are charging. I about fell over laughing. Part of that cost is a 2 year warranty. Whatever, like I really want to pay $200 to have a dimmer installed and make sure I get a warranty. I asked the lady how could it take 9 hours to move two chandeliers. She said that we don't use labor hours it's a flat price. What BS!! I could not get any kind of intelligent explanation for the out of space price. After wasting 10 minutes I gave up and cancelled my appointment. Anyway I'm very upset that this company is like any other company that comes to Tahoe and bids work. I guess it's the "Lake Effect" pricing we get. So sick and tired of asshats ripping me off just because my home is a lakefront. I didn't know we had Ticks in Tahoe but I'm learning that we do. In summary if you want to get ripped off BUT have it be a "Worry Free" then go here. read more

Make sure you ask price for everything that these guys do and ask for an itemized receipt. Their price is beyond rip off and the word "happy" applies to the vendor that had the fun of ripping you off. You can get the same quality work done much cheaper elsewhere. But if you do decide to work with them and they try to do anything other than what you have asked them to do, ask for the price and refuse if it is not in your budget. A lot of small business tries to empty your wallet during pandemic but you do not have to fall victim. I had several "dream list" items I wanted priced along with 2 ceiling fans we needed installed. Jessica the receptionist called to verify the appointment and work the day before. About 30 minutes before Ryan arrived an auto reminder text along with Ryan's photo and a short bio were included. Since I am constantly vigilant against male predators I found this most calming. Ryan and my husband went through the house discussing wants, needs, possibilities, and a maybe not. After that Ryan set to work changing the junction box sizes to work with the new ceiling fans, assembled the fans, installed the fans, took out the dimmer switch to make it the right kind for the ceiling fans and finally programmed the fan remotes. Ryan was meticulous in keeping our home free from small falling dust an debris. Ryan then took the time to explain the new fan instructions and then proceeded to check a couple safety issues but our house passed muster! I've used Happy Outlet several times and have been very happy with their work. I still am happy with their work. The company ethics are another matter. Today I had a service person out to fix something and the bill I signed was for $215. It was a fair price for the work that was done. Later I got a notice that they charged my credit card for $222 and change. When we inquired as to why we were told that the difference was the fee the credit card charges. My invoice says $215. So that means they charged my account for a fee that is theirs without informing me. We were informed we can use a debit card or a check without paying a fee. This is a new scam so beware if you use a credit card. Had they informed me we wouldn't have used a credit card but being ethically challenged they didn't tell me. read more

I will give my honest opinion of their service. First they can not give you a set time of arrival, it can be anytime from 4 to 8 hours so plan on waiting all day for them and they will arrive at the latest time given. Second they offer a complete inspection of your electrical system for $89 which is a fair price but then the games begin. First they give you all the updates you need and it's all on a iPad so it's very difficult to read and understand. You are not given a written quote at the time. Then once you agree to the work they could only perform half of the job. They then want you to pay for the work they performed. This is confusing and out of the ordinary as most companies quote you and price and you pay when the job is complete. They then schedule their next appointment which is two week away to finish the job. Again you get to wait about 4 hours for them to show up. Then they do not have all the parts which they should have ordered after the first visit so they can not finish up the project. Again they want you to pay for the work done and you have to wait until they can schedule the next appointment. On both of the appointments I had to call them back because their were issues with the work they did and we had outlets that were not working after they left. We called the next day as this circuit that was not working in for our garage and outside lights. They were not able to return until two days later and again after waiting 7 hours. We are now over a month since we first had them check our electrical and it has not yet been completed. What we originally contacted them to repair has not yet been repaired and no further contact from this company. I would not recommend this company for any of your electrical work. Their employees are very nice and professional but their model is not good and I feel that over all you are much better off using another company for any of your electrical needs. read more

Ive used them twice now and they did a great job advising me how to save money but do the right job fixing weird wiring in the house we just purchased. I was scheduled for an electrician to come to my house today, April 9th to install a row of outlets and can lights. I was thrilled when I got a call yesterday at 1pm saying a technician was close by and could he come immediately. I was thrilled. He arrived just before 2pm. He did the required inspection, we discussed the estimate and the job he came to do. Joe was courteous, professional and thorough. However, he was not able to start the job that he estimated as a "full day" yesterday. When I asked what time he would come the scheduled day, today, the 9th. He replied that he would have to call and see if someone was available the 9th. I was confused. Upon calling the scheduler, he told me the soonest someone could come was April 23rd. I guess I am confused as to why a scheduled tech, who needed a full day to do a job at my house, would have been immediately rescheduled when Joe showed up for a "all day" job at 2pm? It makes no sense. So here we sit, wall torn apart, furniture moved, access for the tech prepared and......... now we sit for ANOTHER two weeks....(we waited two weeks for the initial appointment) Very Disappointed read more

I own a local Hair Salon here in Carson City and about 2 weeks ago I had the happy outlet come out to install some lighting fixtures in they did an amazing job for very fair price I thought. I like them so much I called them back to do a outlet for me and again they did an amazing job on both jobs they cleaned up after themselves and were very polite the entire time they were in my salon. When I called The Happy Outlet, I was a little skeptical, since they required a "service fee", regardless if work was performed or not. Dave, the technician responded on appointment day and he was very cordial, pleasant, professional and had a good sense of humor. I was having a 3 way (double pole) occupant sensor/dimmer switch installed in a laundry room. Dave explained what he was doing in detail and ensured me that everything would be installed correctly and in good working order after he was done. Once that work was completed, he performed a complete in home electrical inspection of the house to ensure everything was in proper working order. The Lutron Maestro occupancy sensor/dimmer switch was programmable and a tad confusing, so Dave did not hesitate to call the company to get accurate programming instructions. In the end, the cost of the install was very reasonable and Dave was very professional during our contact. He made very sure that we understood how to operate the switch, prior to his departure. We were pleased with the work that was done for us. Unfortunately, since it was a Saturday and an emergency, we were forced to pay an exorbitant amount for that work. $369 was the minimum for them to come. That price included 2 hours...2 hours of diagnostic work before adding on the repairs. Our electrician was knowledgeable and was able to fix the issue. However, we truly feel that the cost was extreme. The following week we were able to get a licensed electrician to fix issues with our outlets for a much more reasonable price. read more

Kevin did a fantastic job repairing my main panel. When I explained to him what happened he ran to Home Depot and purchased a new panel to use for parts at 9:00pm.
